The Doctors had an attitude and were very condescending. I am never going back there again.

UPDATE: Response to owner: I want to clarify my experience after the office response. I scheduled…read morethis consultation in advance and specifically asked staff when I should arrange my Uber home. I was given a timeframe and relied on that guidance. After arriving on time and completing intake and photos, I was then told there would be an additional 30-45 minute delay before seeing the doctor--contradicting what I had been told earlier. I was also informed my Uber would continue charging while waiting, which created a stressful and impractical situation. While the office states I left voluntarily and that consults take about an hour, my decision was based on the inconsistent and changing timing communicated by staff during the visit. The core issue here is not the length of a consultation, but the lack of clear, coordinated communication. I did receive a refund of my deposit, but patients should be given accurate expectations upfront, especially when arranging transportation. I scheduled a consultation with this office before I even moved to Alabama and paid the required $100 deposit. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and ended up being a complete waste of my time. The front desk staff were pleasant, and the initial part of the appointment went smoothly. I had photos taken and met with another staff member who was very kind and professional. However, after that, things quickly went downhill. Before arriving, I specifically asked when I should schedule my Uber home and was given a timeframe by the office. I planned accordingly. After waiting, I was then informed that it would be an additional 30-45 minutes before I could even see the doctor. Several staff members responded with comments such as, "I don't know who told you that," and made it clear that the wait time I had been given was incorrect. Rather than taking ownership of the miscommunication, I felt like I was being brushed off. What was most frustrating is that I never even got to see the physician despite arriving on time, completing all of the preliminary steps, and paying a deposit for the consultation. The lack of organization, poor communication, and unprofessional handling of the situation left a very negative impression. I understand that delays can happen in a medical office, but clear communication and accountability matter. Unfortunately, this experience did not reflect the level of professionalism I would expect from a surgical practice.

I have serious concerns about my experience with this plastic surgery facility and the transparency…read moreof its procedures and practices. 1. I was asked to sign the contract and complete payment before a full discussion of my family medical history and before disclosure of the relevant terms and conditions took place. Once payment is made and the contract is signed, I was informed that no refund would be issued, even in the presence of medical concerns. 2. When concerns regarding family medical history were later raised during my second meeting with Dr. Wilson (approximately two weeks prior to the scheduled surgery, and only my second consultation after the initial visit), I felt there was continued pressure to proceed with the surgery as planned. At one point, the clinic requested my father's medical history for verification, which I found unusual and concerning. 3. I was informed that I would forfeit 50% of the procedure fee (several thousand dollars), which I had already paid in advance, because I canceled the surgery approximately two weeks before the scheduled date--even though these medical concerns were actively being discussed with the physician at that time. 4. After raising these concerns, I was no longer able to communicate directly with Dr. Wilson through the office. 5. My interactions with the business manager were also extremely difficult and unprofessional, and I was unable to resolve my concerns in a constructive manner. I felt I was not given an opportunity to fully express or discuss my concerns. 6. Overall, I felt that the financial commitment and cancellation terms created significant pressure to proceed with surgery even when legitimate medical concerns were present, which left me deeply uncomfortable with the process. In conclusion, I believe that key terms and conditions, as well as potential risks associated with the procedure, were not adequately disclosed prior to payment. The financial penalties associated with cancellation created substantial pressure to proceed despite medical concerns. Based on my experience, I would advise others to exercise extreme caution and ensure full clarity of all medical, financial, and cancellation policies before engaging with this facility.

I cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Scanland for the skill and talent she has and the results that I ended up with were beyond my expectations! Have you ever felt like a different person inside than what everyone else sees? Ever been told (by a friend) that you look deformed? These were experiences I had after a 3-year battle and losing 120 lbs.! I had skin in folds and felt ugly all the time! Dr. Scanland changed that! I interviewed several other doctors and when meeting with Dr. Scanland I felt totally comfortable! She had a feminine point of view and was very specific and confident in the results we could achieve; and boy did she deliver!!!! At three months post-surgery I was in a bikini for the first time in my adult life. A year post surgery and I couldn't be happier. I can do things I wanted to do before but was too self-conscious to do or just physically unable to do so because of the shape/size I was. I can exercise now and don't flop around trying to do a jumping jack! lol. I have never regretted my decision to undergo a Tummy Tuck. I finally feel like the REAL ME: the person I always felt I was underneath all the extra weight and then floppy skin! I look forward to my next experience with Dr. Scanland and her amazing team! Everyone in the practice is so helpful and willing/prompt to answer any questions you may have!

Extremely Disappointed - Still No Refund After 8 Weeks I had…read morea scheduled surgery on April 28. On the morning of the surgery, I was drug tested and was told that I tested positive for a substance I absolutely had not taken. Because of this, they canceled the surgery. I immediately went to an independent drug testing center and, as expected, tested clean. I submitted these results to my patient coordinator, and they acknowledged the error and offered me a full refund. That was 7 weeks ago. I've sent countless emails and made numerous phone calls, but still no refund. The staff is rude, unhelpful, and refuses to provide any meaningful updates. I took two weeks off work, paid for a hotel for two nights, and spent months preparing--only to be denied surgery due to what appears to be a faulty drug test and then completely ghosted after the fact. What's most frustrating is how different the experience is compared to how Dr. Deal presents himself online. He seems personable and caring on Instagram, but in reality, the aftercare and communication from both him and his staff have been awful. The rumors are true: they care before the surgery, but once your money is in, you're on your own. To make matters worse, they are extremely overpriced. I've since recommended three people elsewhere who paid half as much and had amazing results. I'm now in the process of taking legal action. I have all the emails that clearly show they agreed to a refund. Bottom line: Don't waste your time or money here.

I entrusted Dr. J.J. Wendel with my life savings nearly $25,000 to perform a revision surgery to…read moredefine my breast fold (IMF) or crease and lower my areolas , the pepperonis of the breast. I was transparent with him and his nurses about the trauma I had endured, including being abandoned by an ex-partner because of my physical appearance, and I made it clear that this surgery was my attempt to finally heal after the death of my mother and get me life back. I put my total trust in his hands to fix the crease and areolas I came to him for; instead, his care resulted in physical deformity and a total breach of professional conduct. He took my money, ignored my specific surgical goals, and left me more broken than when I arrived. The Physical Facts and Deformity I paid nearly $5,000 specifically for a nipple papule procedure. Instead, my nipple literally fell off in the shower. For months, I sent emails in distress after my surgery before my nipple went down the drain. I was terrified. When I asked for even a partial refund for this $5,000 failure, he refused. Deformity & Scarring: My stomach and breasts still appear as "one piece," as do my back and buttocks now. I paid for a butt lift and I am now left with a deep "ditch" crease extending from my butt crack to my mid-back. It is tight, hideous to look at, and painful. I had a curvy physique before, and now I am flat. Beyond that, I have painful "black popcorn" rugged scars that did not exist before. They are jagged and ugly, extending under my armpit and to my back. My previous incisions were smooth and neat. He kept saying it would be you but better. I am not better, it is worse. Failed Revision: My areolas, werent moved or lowered, which is something I specifically paid for. He kept saying it was improved, but they are in the exact same spot . After a follow-up, he saw me in the hallway and said, "At least they look good with your clothes on." He said it with a smile like he was proud. I sent him a picture of me in office attire with one nipple sitting near my collarbone, poking through my shirt on a Zoom call. It was so embarrassing. I wondered why people were looking at me like that. You can see it sitting way up high in the photo--right breast high, and no nipple on the left. I can't wear office clothes without feeling humiliated. I close my eyes when passing mirrors because I can't bear to look at myself. Unprepared Post-Op I was sent home with surgical drains despite no prior disclosure or care instructions. I was just given a bag full of stuff I didn't understand. I was so lost and confused after my surgery, having no idea what to do with the drains. Now, he has "divorced" me. He emailed me the consent form to release my records at his request, not mine. Because I am on HRT (hormones) and need mammograms, I am now left without a physician to consult with my gynecologist for these necessary cancer screenings. He took my money and left me with medical risks. The Professional Conduct and Verbal Aggression At my six-month checkup in October 2025, it wasn't getting better. He told me to wait until May 2026 for another revision and marked my body again, showing where he would make incisions between my breasts--an area he admitted surgeons normally avoid. He was willing to scar me further even though he admitted the crease was "destroyed" and the surgery wouldn't fix my problem. He insisted I pay even more money for this, despite my nipples falling off. He even made it about himself, complaining that his bills were going when I asked him for at least a partial refund. I sent an email to his office manager asking again for a refund, she had me make an appointment with Dr. Wendel. I did and took my 80 yr old Vietnam veteran dad with me for support. Dr. Wendel was verbally aggressive and yelled: "I don't care how many family members you bring up there, I'm not giving you your money back." AND I QUOTE. He then stormed off. Before the surgery, he was shaking my dad's hand and thanking him for his service. To treat my father that way? My dad did nothing but try to support his daughter. Any parent would.I wouldn't expect a second-class basement mechanic to behave that way, let alone a physician. Conclusion I signed consent forms while nurses called him the "boob whisperer" and told me I could trust him. As a Christian and fellow woman, I trusted them. I have worn a bra 24/7 for nearly a year because he made me believe the crease might form that way, knowing it wasn't true. He told me my crease was destroyed when I came to him so if it was destroyed, why would he take 25k from me? He told me I should be "glad" he took my case and that no other doctor would touch me, which is a lie. Another doctor said they could help, but I can't get the surgery because Dr. Wendel refuses a refund. He keeps saying "it's improved." It's not improved. It's changed, but changed doesnt mean better. I am deformed, humiliated, and out of my life savings.
