I guess it is never fun to write reviews about hospitals or medical buildings. My husband and I visited the Alex Grass Medical Sciences Building today, due to unfortunate events. I was very please with how the staff treated us, from greeting us to helping us get around the massive building I felt the care and compassion from all the staff members we connected with. I was very emotional at my visit but was met with support and understanding. I know that not every staff member understood why we there but their smiles and kindness went a long way. I was grateful for the grace I felt today. read more

Now I understand that hospitals are busy during the pandemic BUT that does not give the nurses rights to treat their patients like complete crap! Like we're making things harder for them when asked for help! I wish I could of gotten this nurses name but did not she was the rudest nurse I've ever dealt with and hope I never have to deal with her again a day in my life! read more

We took our 5 year old to this facility for a high temperature that would not break while on vacation. They gave him 2 ibuprofen and an x-ray, NEVER reviewed the results with us and then discharged him with a diagnosis of respiratory infection and an antibiotic. 2 days later he saw his pulmonary doctor and the diagnosis was wrong and instructed us to stop the antibiotic. They also never sent the information to our son's doctors as requested, so we still don't know what the x-rays show. My son has 2 insurances, which both were provided at the intake. Now 4 months later, we continue to get a bill for the co-pay but we have now provided the 2ndary information three times. Now they are saying we never provided the 2ndary insurance information and will only take it by phone for them to bill them. I also requested verification that I provided this information over the phone and they stated they don't do that. Lesson learned: prior to going on vacation, check out the local medical facilities and STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!! read more

Sometimes something so traumatic happen's to you in life that it leaves an indelible scar on your heart,and no matter how hard you try to get past it,you just cannot.the blatant racist treatment I received from Dr Michael D'Angelo, and his staff in the we hours of the morning at the Harrisburg hospital ,was one of these life altering events.it subsequently,taught me the,the absolute disgusting depths of systematic racism,and how in this country ,I have nowhere to turn for justice! Not only were my complaintsnot taken seriously,but my actual medical records were altered to cover up the wrong doing,I spent moths filing grievance with everyone,from the patient advocate at Harrisburg hospital to to pinnacle health to the medical board of Pennsylvania ,and everyone in between.just to have it swept under the rug and to be shown that what I went through,in the eyes of the people who are supposedly put here to help means nothing at all.i was told that these things were investigated and that there was no fault found,I was told that maybe ,I took things to personally,I was told that "someone" has decided ,that what I went through,was deemed not worthy of actual assistance.but the fact of the matter is,I know the vile racist things that were said to me,I know how absolutely cold and and nasty I was.treated by the enire staff at the behest of the resident E.R Dr that night.and how I was pretty much threatened and chased away from the facility,only to have to drive 12 miles to the Hershey hospital for treatment . Deep down inside I know that the politics of this entire country outweigh,anything I may have experienced,and that racist acts will somehow be justified.with even a second thought for the mental and or emotional well-being,of a particular segment of society,due to the pigment of that particular group's skin.but I will due all that I can to tell my story,and continue to fight for justice,and answers.until someone is held accountable,and I feel that I am made whole and feel recompense is given to my spirit. My heart valve was leaking for some time. I finally saw the surgeon and I was scheduled for valve surgery. I was told I was going to get an animal valve before the operation. After the operation when I awoke I was told he was able to repair my heart valve. Much better than expected. I was more than pleased with my care from the nurses and from the doctors. Dr. Mumtaz is a top notch heart surgeon. Great nurses, overall great care. I believe the best top Cardiovascular hospital in Central Pennsylvania. read more

We were customers for more years than we can remember and would have given it 5 stars. There is always ' something ', in any company with a hiccup. You understand these things. The care and providers were terrific 90% of the time through all our family- hospital, PC, specialists, it went without saying we wouldn't budge. Things became peculiar first, when they pitched a much believed PC. When a major problem did come up, instead of working with us, we found ourselves shockingly ' attacked', on some bizarre outside, and worse, a kid who needed some specific help and protection was the focus. They tossed him under the bus a few times and flatly refused to cooperate, listen to anything which could have straightened out the entire mess, let's see- threw him under the bus with yet another health care company, toboot. Oh yes, they sent me along for good measure. It's extremely difficult, getting care now for a kid with a few problems who just, plain requires them to be addressed, that's it. We were hoping when Pinnacle became UPMC, things would change. Nope. Now, instead of being able to go to Pittsburgh for some excellent care, UPMC is now just, plain old, samo samo, Pinnacle, and part of the problem. Great. read more

Couldn't believe how down hill this place has gone. And after hospital care has been terrible as well. Sad.

My Mother spent her last days here at the Harrisburg Hospital. It was her third fight with cancer and when she was admitted, the cancer had already done to much damage to her organs and bones. The staff of PinnacleHealth did a great job taking care of my Mom as my family and I tried to lend a hand however we could. I can honestly say that my Mom's final days were spent well because of the care we received from PinnacleHealth. I remember the nurses being very friendly and comforting as well as jovial and always smiling with us and my Mom. They were an encouragement to all of us. One of the lead Oncologists there was very understanding of the choices we had to make in a tough time and was able to provide emotional and spiritual comfort as well as keep us very informed at all times. read more

I was in the ER a few months ago and did not feel safe in the waiting room--and it was daylight! Would hate to see what it is like at night. I know the hospital must provide services to everyone, but prohibited behavior is posted--maybe the hospital staff is afraid to say anything, but it makes the waiting room an even more unpleasant place when we have to listen to people cursing and yelling. read more

This is a review of the Obstetrics Department and from my wanderings throughout the hospital. 5 stars for friendliness, cleanliness, and evidence of adeptness, all coming together for great care within the walls of this fortress by the river. A great place for Mr. Stork to deliver those precious tiny, bundles of Joy! My daughter delivered her first baby here and could not have received better care. I asked her if she could recalled anyone who was rude, or who may have given poor medical care. She could not think of a single instance where the care was mediocre or the staff rude. I too, cannot think of anyone who concerned me. The medical care from the physicians, midwives and nurses was excellent. When something unusual occurred that required knowledge and expertise, the medical staff were well prepared. My daughter and her newborn received EXCELLENT care. That not one incidence can be given of poor care is truly amazing. From the emergency room person who came running outside with a wheelchair at just the right moment, the caring nursing staff, the friendly cleaning lady who shared her grand mothering stories with me in the wee hours of the night, and to everyone we met, the care and service was wonderful. Thank You, Doctors,Nurses and Hospital Staff for the excellent care you gave to my daughter and I am sure, the many other new moms and babies who pass through your doors. read more

THEIR DISREGUARD FOR HUMAN LIFE ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTS ME. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. They are only good for gunshot victims. My wife had a heart attack, threw up, collapsed, and her hand went numb. I took her to Pinnacle Harrisburg and even called, telling them I was speeding there so they'd be ready. We were in the waiting room for 20 mins, after we sat in the registration line, and finally I said something to a nurse and they got her back. Then they made her sit in a wheelchair because there weren't any beds, and after the 3rd triage room and 2 hallways we went to West Shore Pinnacle. It's now been 5 hours since her suspected heart attack and we are yet to have EVEN A ROOM! THE WORST HOSPITALS I'VE EVER BEEN TO. I'D RATHER HER DIE AT HOME THAN IN THEIR WAITING ROOM!!! read more

For parents who are looking for a good delivery and then pediatric hospital (without the drive to Hershey), Harrisburg hospital is fabulous. I have birth to my daughter almost three years ago there and recently, when she had to be admitted for an issue, they were fabulous. They let me stay with her and took great care of her. They also participate with a great program where the community donated art supplies, coloring books, stuffed animals, and such to keep the kids occupied and to make it less scary. That was a God send. The staff are kind and considerate to very worried parents. We will be back if God forbid the kids need medical attention. read more

I am a retired healthcare professional, who started his career at HH. I moved on from there in 1976 , and have worked elsewhere in and out of Central Pa. There is no other healthcare system that comes close to my standards of caring and skill. I'd like to thank the wonderful nurses, doctors and other staff of Harrisburg's Cardiac Unit for the exceptional care I was given during my recent 4 1/2 day stay there. I suffered some complications after my stent implant, but I was given great care and found all the personnel I dealt with to be extremely friendly and courteous and always willing to help. I would recommend it to anyone needing procedures of this type. read more

This is a terrible hospital. Only go there if you want third world medical care because that is about all you will receive. Patient care is not their priority. They had my 86 year old diabetic father - who had to fast the night before - scheduled for surgery at 9:30 am but never moved him into surgery until 3:00 p.m. and then never released him until 7:30 in the evening. Almost 12 hours of sitting in a hospital and waiting. If they cannot manage simple things like patient flow they can hardly manage quality patient care. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and find a better hospital like Johns Hopkins. Never go to Harrisburg Hospital. They need to fire the administrators for this hospital and find some people who can actually manage a hospital and focus on the patients. Absolutely despicable treatment. This is not what Harrisburg hospital used to be like before Pinnacle. read more

Was referred by my primary care physician - "If you're not better in 3 days go to the ER." This ER did the same tests as doctor, gave me same prescription and sent me on my way, yet the problem persists and has for over two weeks. These people did basically NOTHING for me. On the upside - at least got me in in in a reasonable time. I would have been really upset with the lack of diagnosis and treatment after waiting an hour to be seen. They post ER wait times - which is a good thing. ER visit (and I'm sure the bills are coming), no treatment, condition persists, no next steps or referrals. They have a scheme going on. I went there, experiencing excruciating stomach pain. After checking in. I waited about 5 mins, and was called back to give them information about my pain. My blood pressure, was taken , and blood drawn, I was also given a pill to stop me from throwing up. Why are they dispensing medicine to someone, before they are even diagnose. That took about 5 mins. I was sent back to the waiting room. After waiting for about 3 hr. I went to the desk, and asked how much longer? I was told that there were 5 people ahead of me. Since I was in so much pain, I decided I had to lay down, and told them I am leaving. A week later I received a bill for over $600.00 dollars from them. When I called to find out why, since I was never seem by a doctor, and came and left with the same problem. I was told when they took me back for 5 mins that meant I have been seem in the ER. I also found out later, I had food poisoning, and they should never have given me a pill to keep from throwing up. Someone told me , I should see a lawyer and file a malpractice suite. To finish it up, they sent my name to a credit bureau, even though I had gave them medical insurance information at the check in. They never even filed the claim. So people BEWARE, don't let them take you in to that office. That is just so they can charge you. It sound like a scam. read more
