Pins and Ales definitely is always a good time. Even on a Tuesday night it can get busy. They also have deals going on during certain nights of the week and is very affordable. I love the drinks here which are strong but well made. The food however, is very basic which is understandable, it's a bowling alley and not a five star restaurant. They do have have a cute robot that brings your food to the table which is fun and modern. Pins and Ales is always a great place to spend time bowling with friends and family and is one of the better bowling alleys I have been to. read more

I'm so happy we found a new "cosmic"-style bowling place to hit up aka somewhere that does "late night" (closed at 11pm the Saturday we went) bowling with decent music and black lights. We arrived close 9pm to find out that they were offering unlimited bowling from 9p to close -- only for $11.99 each person! This cost included shoe rentals, too, I believe. We played some arcade games waiting for 9pm to hit. The virtual reality game looked cool, but I didn't get to play as one of the controllers was broken. My three friends said it was pretty intense and were freakin' out during the zombie round -- but they had fun. The arcade overall has some really good-looking, new games. There's also bumper cars and a mini golf course under black light to the left as you walk in. We didn't try either, but I wouldn't be opposed to in the future! My BF and myself chose to go to the bar area which is in another room to the right when you walk in. THAT area is even better than the regular bowling area, but we had some minors with us, or else we would've bowled in there. The bartender was super friendly and helpful. This was the night I was first educated on the "Zion curtain" rule... huh. I guess if you can't "see" a drink be made in Utah, it doesn't exist? Besides that, drinks are reasonably-priced. We got two lanes right at 9pm, no hidden fees or anything like that. Sweet couch-type seating. Music videos play on flat screens on the back wall above the lanes. COOL. Just wish the music was louder (the music seemed better and louder in the bar area). Plenty of ball options -- no issue there, which is surprising compared to my past experience. I was also happily surprised to find that the pizza and fries were really good! I mean for a bowling alley, damn good. We had loads of fun playing for a couple hours. They shut down our last game before it finished ('cause we didn't know when they closed until it actually happened), but it actually saved me some money from a bet I was about to lose. Place was fun but I got my shoes stolen and when I tried to report it the manager no one showed up. The bartender never returned with or without a manager. So when I was on my way to the front desk I stopped to speak with the security guard at the podium he WAS EXTREMELY RUDE and accused me of making it up . We came here on a whim for a last minute birthday celebration. Our party of about 20 people found seating right by the mini dance floor. We had to arrange tables and chairs but we made it work. We didn't get to bowl or try any of their food since we ate dinner prior to coming. Well I didn't bowl because I have nails and I'm not breaking one! DJ Hyde was spinning the tracks and he takes all requests! He will incorporate it with the rest of his songs which makes him a great DJ. We were all the way live baby lol. I had their Moscow mule and it was a little watered down. Beer is beer and you can't go wrong with that. We soon found out that you can bring your favorite wine and for them to pop it open is only $10. I asked if I can bring my favorite tequila (patron) because it too has a cork and I got the side eye. I have to unfortunately write a meh review about this place. I could go three stars but I'm never going to return, so I think 2 fits it more The food was ok - I suppose for a bowling alley I should expect greasy food. However it's really hard to bowl a ball when your fingers are covered in oil and the napkins don't work very well (maybe wet wipes would be better?) Had Literally the WORST service I've ever had! Servers and bartenders ignoring us, sat around waiting for a lane to open up and sat at a table for 15 minutes, finally walked to the bar and asked for some drinks, bartender said oh you have a server so we don't need to serve you! We asked for a server to be sent over and another 15 minutes went by, there were clearly servers just standing around chatting and hanging out, they were not that busy. We got up again and asked a different bartender and he was nice enough to get us a pitcher but also told us that we have a server. The reason it gets two stars and not 0 is because the door guy, Sam, was working his ass off and was incredible! The food was also amazing and the food runner was on top of it! This place was the worst, and will probably never return. It's cool that they have robots deliver the food, but took an hour and a half to get the food, which was clearly sitting there forever. It sat so long that it absorbed the paper, and I couldn't eat it. The service sucks, waitress never followed up, or came back. We had to go to the counter any time we ordered. Attempted to order a grape lime Ricky... but came without the grape, and was just seltzer water with lime. I can understand one or 2 mistakes, but the whole night was clearly one big mistake. We had a party of 7, and the only food that came out correct was a house salad, which was the last item served. 2 hours after ordering. Just a garbage experience for a birthday party. Trying to reserve a few lanes for a birthday party. It states on the website you can. When we've called in the 4-5 times we've been told just reserve on the site. Every time we have mentioned it's for a birthday party. So we finally go in. Apparently we have to talk to the events person to do this. The events person isn't there so the girl recommends we chat with the manager. She goes to get the manager and comes out and says that he did not want to come out and talk to us. What a joke. read more

Went with a group of coworkers for a fun night out. We had never been to Pins and Ales before tonight, so we weren't sure what to think. Turns out we had a blast! We had a group of about five people and were able to get onto a lane pretty quick, which was great since the place seemed pretty full. While the lane had a couple issues with the pins getting stuck, the good drinks and solid food made up for it. Plus our waitress was attentive, even though she seemed super busy! We also appreciated the staff running virtual reality (Garrett maybe?), and the blonde girl who set up laser tag! They were great and super helpful! To top the night off, several people had a fist fight not only inside, but outside of the establishment as well. Oh, and the beer was horrifyingly bad. It tasted like the kegs had never been cleaned. If a night club and bowling alley had a baby, it would be Pins & Ales! This place is fun. It's perfect for group dates, guys nights, girls night out, or whatever. I haven't been to a night club in years and I rarely go to bars, so this place is a perfect mixture of the two, with the added benefit of bowling, big screens, and a decent food. There will most likely be a wait. But no problem, you can grab a drink at the bar and hang out in a booth until your lane is available. Leave the kiddos at home, get a babysitter, or send them to the arcade and check this place out. read more

Very fun!! I've been here twice for my husband's work parties and they have always been a really good time. I really like the atmosphere because when it's an adult party it should be separated from children. Everything is very clean and comfortable with plenty of seating which is awesome for a bowling alley! The bar tenders are super friendly and helpful and they had a wide variety fun drinks & beer. Pins & Ales is located inside All-Star bowling in Draper. It's a 21+ only side with a full bar and food menu, which is nice. I've never been on a weekend when it turns into a "nightclub" but I can imagine that it probably gets fairly wild in there, being that there aren't many options in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley to go out for drinks with friends. A part of me thinks this could probably a big swingers hangout on the weekends, haha. Bar service can be hit or miss (i.e. slow) depending on the night because they're swamped and understaffed, that happened to our group once. Pricing in the evenings is by the hourly rate only ~$30/hour per lane plus ~$4 shoe rental/person. If you've ever been to Jupiter Bowl up in Park City, UT. This place is similar to that with the bowling and bar, etc. Overall, Salt Lake has needed a place like this for a while and Pins & Ales is a great place to grab a bite, get tipsy, and try to bowl turkeys with friends. read more

So much has changed here. So very sad as it used to be my favorite bowling alley. I would rave about this back home!!! Now, it's incredibly hot, it's crazy that no one has ever fainted! My husband and I came on a late afternoon, Saturday, which means $40/hr. We spent most of the hour being ignored by the bartender. Never even came by to say he'd be with us in a minute. After waiting 30 min, a female bartender clocks in. She made eye contact with me, but didn't provide so much as a smile. She turns completely around and starts serving the gentlemen on the other side of the bar WHO HAD EMPTY GLASSES IN FRONT OF THEM. What sense does it make to serve people who have glasses in front of them vs people without any glasses??! My husband and I are sitting at the bar with nothing. Another man is sitting a few chairs up, same side of the bar as us, also having nothing and waiting the same amount of time as us. Beside him, 2 women, also being ignored. We just sat at the wrong side of the bar maybe??? I don't know, but what I DO know is if I'm paying $40/hr to bowl, I should get service. At least a server on the lane! Awful. Waited a half hour for a drink at the bar. Two hours to bowl. Would have felt bad for the staff if they weren't so rude, they only had a few bartenders for a busy Saturday night. There are better options for a night out, but a longer drive. The bowling itself is fun, but prepare for a wait. And the "DJ" says he takes requests, but we never heard a single song we asked for. The music and wait was reminiscent of being freshly 21, when terrible music and lots of makeup and heels made me a cool person. Now, I want to enjoy myself and actually get a drink without feeling like my cleavage is the reason for any special treatment. After we finally got the bartender's attention, my friend set her drink on the counter as she paid the bill. The bartender then started clearing empty glasses off the bar, and grabbed her mostly full one and put it in the huge stack of dirty dishes in the bussing tray. That's a mistake that can happen when the place is so busy. However, when we flagged him down to point out the mistake, he reached into the dirty dishes and pulled out a half-full drink that may or may not have been hers. No apology, didn't pour a new one, and he took off before we had a chance to request a new one. Gross! At the end of the night, I got to witness a girl being assaulted by a man in the bathroom. Not exaggerating, a girl was vomiting, and a man came in and started beating her until we alerted management. I am NOT a fan of this establishment, it's a wannabe Draper bar. For a better night, get a bottle of whiskey at the liquor store and stay home. Or head to almost any bar, anywhere near here, and you'll save your sanity. read more

If decor, ambience, and the food menu were the only things to consider, I would rate this bar/adult bowling alley much higher. However, the lack of customer service at this bar left a lot to be desired. I was promptly greeted and the younger blonde bartender was attentive and helpful in explaining what I could order and take out into the all-ages section of the bowling alley. But when my friend joined me a little bit later, he did not receive the same prompt service. The bartender who had taken care of my drink order was off in the bar attending to other patrons, and a long-haired woman who seemed to be managerial staff wouldn't even look at him and busied herself with helping people who'd come up to the bar minutes after he had. If the second bartender had simply addressed him with a smile and said someone would be right with him, it would have been a better experience for him in the bar. Not acknowledging someone you obviously know is there is not good customer service. Finally the bartender who'd assisted me with drinks returned and took his order. We're likely to return because it's a pretty cool place, but some of the wait staff here needs to work on their interactions with guests. I also highly recommend that beer lovers stay away from any of the Bonneville Brewery beers; they are disgusting. I ordered a pale ale and it had the most bitter aftertaste. Stick to hard liquor here, or the bottled beers like Heineken and Stella. read more

The SLC equivalent of a Lucky Strike. This is certainly a more trendy bowling alley than the kind of bowling alleys you frequented as a kid. In the adult side (where they serve alcohol), they play a constant stream of music videos which can certainly keep the game entertaining if you need a distraction or two. The staff was attentive. A friend and I stayed in Draper for a weekend. After two days of looking for a place with good pizza and fun, yummy drinks we found Pins & Ales. The bartender in restaurant, Hoelin (sorry if spelled incorrectly), was amazing. She was friendly, polite and made the best drinks we had in Utah. She was even polite and patient to some annoying customers that I would find difficult to deal with. The atomsphere was fun and had lots to do for kids and adults. The menu had great selection. Their pizza was delicious and huge for size!!! We were very satisfied and wished that we had discovered this place when we arrived in Draper. Definitely a place to try! read more

I come here with my boyfriend a couple times a month. One of the better bars out here in the south end of the valley. We come for a quick drink, a bite, and a couple rounds of skee-ball in the arcade. Their service cannot be beat. The bartenders are friendly, fast, and attentive. The drink menu is diverse and there is a page dedicated to moscow mules. Try the pear! The beer on tap is great too, Bonneville has some really good options. As for the food, it is also exceptional for "bar food" Most of the items are made in house, like the pizza crust. 10/10 would recommend. read more
