Does an 80-year-old also need to prove their age to sit down and eat? I was perfectly legal to dine at this restaurant, and instead of being treated with understanding, I was turned away. What disappointed me most was the stubbornness and lack of empathy from the person at the entrance. A restaurant experience begins before the meal, and unfortunately this experience left me feeling frustrated, saddened, and unwelcome. The dumplings (which we were told by our server are handmade) were genuinely flavorless and the wrapper was way too thick and chewy. We tried the pork buns as well, same issue, a serious lack of flavor and seasoning. Pork belly entree was middling, just a flavor profile that didn't work. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was fried crispy but the sauce and toppings were unmemorable and lacked any kind of punch or umami to speak of. It came with a side of food service fries, which were crispy but served with plain old ketchup. Oh by the way everything is expensive. Starters were $15+ and most entrees, including noodle soups were $20+ which is crazy. Cocktails were $18 and no wine pour less than $16. The only thing cheap is the beer which makes sense because it was mediocre at best. Server brought the check, said "no rush" and then we waited while he sat three tables, brought drinks for three tables and took two food orders.
