What a fun place to spend the afternoon or evening. First off, know that they do not offer food, only drinks. However, there are multiple places within a 30 second walk of he entrance that you can get food from. And they welcome you to bring it in. All the cocktails that I had were well made and had fun names. And the decor makes it look like an adults dream! We went for a birthday gathering and reserved a duckpin bowling lane for two hours. When our text came through they told us we were only given an hour instead of two. We had SUCH an amazing time here with our pups!! Their space is massive, with so many games and activities, even free arcade games, and a giant slide in the middle. They are dog friendly all the time with lots of areas for the pups to explore and play. Our dogs loved it there! I tried a few of their seasonal cocktails and they were delicious, and the bartenders were efficient and attentive with taking orders despite how busy they were. There is Ping Pong, life size Beer Pong, video games, Bocce, and more! It's a beautifully formatted and decorated to appeal to an elegant comfort and also sports large patios with fire pits on both floors. They don't serve food, but what's great is you can bring food from the outside and there are a variety of restaurants within a few feet of Pins that will satisfy all of your cravings. There are several bars on both floors and my friends and I were attended by Ike who gave great recommendations, served us beautifully, and was really attentive and nice. Looking for a great time? Well, you found it! While on a weekend getaway to Pittsburgh we decided to try a new anything kind of game you can think of place for a good time. We thought we'd go on a Saturday night, but being the only over 40s in sight we decided to make it a Sunday afternoon event instead. We must have had deer stuck in the headlights looks to our faces because an amazing staff member came over asking if it was our first time coming. She explained all the different levels of game play one may enjoy while visiting. Ping pong, giant beer pong, big Jenga, a wall sized Lite Brite, pinball machines, Duck Pin bowling lanes, Nintendos and Sega systems set up with comfy seating, and even free arcade games! There are several bar areas on both levels and even open to the outside terrace. You can bring in outside food if you plan on a day of fun game time with the family. We had an absolute blast! New favorite late night hang out spot in Southside! Always 21+ after 8PM and they are a cashless bar. Pins Mechanical is on the opposite side of the bars in Southside, which is a nice change of pace, with plenty to do inside. Not only are there free games like Jenga and Hookie, but also free classic arcade games and Skeeball! You can sign up for paid games like duckpin bowling and other fun activities. This place can get pretty crowded on the weekends, but the staff try their best to accommodate drink orders. Cocktails are made with bottom shelf liquor, and are not very large for what you pay for. Some drinks are made with popsicles that are stored in a separate freezer, so staff had to go back and forth between the bar and the freezer in the busyness. I got a cool mocktail, and got to keep the plastic cup that it came in! Best part of Pins is the slide that connects the top and bottom floors! Brings out your inner kid haha. Went for a friend's birthday around 7pm on a Friday. It was very busy, as to be expected, and most of the games (bowling, giant pong, table tennis) were reserved for larger groups and parties. We had a nice time playing the arcade games & it was cool they were free. There were tons of kids pushing their way up the stairs to go down the slide. I am so shocked by how much I enjoyed visiting Pins Mechanical a few weekends ago! I was wary that it would be overcrowded and unpleasant, or overpriced. While it was bustling and full of people on a Saturday night, the two levels helped to balance the crowds, and there are SO many areas where people can convene so that no one section gets too congested. We went with a larger group of friends and were surprised that there isn't a cover charge or cost for entry - you can just walk in and enjoy the space a la carte. Games cost individual money (duckpin bowling, pinball machines, bocce, etc.), but skeeball is free and there are plenty of giant Jenga setups throughout as well. There's a fun arcade in the back section with lots of 16-bit games to try. All of the games (both pinball and 16-bit) were nostalgic and very few were out of order. A really fun main feature of the space is the double slide that allows guests to go from the 2nd level to the 1st (there are stairs, too, but the slide is WAY MORE FUN!) There are fire pits on both levels (outside, of course), and the second floor fire pit is on a balcony with tables and seating. We tried some of the bar drinks, and they offer both on-tap items and cocktails; the cocktail I enjoyed was VERY strong and very tasty. They don't serve food, only drinks, but you can bring in outside food (Cheesecake Factory, Slice on Broadway (truck outside in SS Works), etc.) and enjoy them at the tables throughout both levels. We learned that before 8pm, kids are allowed, and no kids after that time. The kiddos were running rampant when we visited around 7pm on a Saturday night, dominating all the skeeball and arcade machines, so bear that in mind when planning your visit. After 8pm, I believe all visitors must be 21+ and you do need to show ID. By 9:30 or so, the space was PACKED with young people and was much more of a bar/night out vibe. All in all, I can't wait to visit again and try out the bowling and revisit the cocktails and pinball! read more

Very fun and great for groups. We went on a Tuesday night for a work event and the space was perfect. With ample seating for group discussions and also bunches of games, arcade and lawn, for spreading out, we will absolutely be holding events here again. Do keep in mind that some of the games are free: we scrounged around all our wallets to collect cash to exchange for quarters and ended up not needing them. Other activities like the duck pin bowling and giant beer pong you have to pay for and require you to join a waitlist. They text your phone number whenever it is your turn to play. Get on the waitlist early, I've always had a 2 hour wait on busy nights. There are several bars located throughout the building. They have 36 beers on tap and many specialty cocktails and also pitchers. Some of the drinks come in cups you get to keep too. I got the pinball wizard which tasted okay but was made with a bottom shelf liquor, pinnacle which is disappointing for a $12 drink. They do not serve food but you can bring your own food in. I really like this place. Free games, big slide, good pizza truck across the street, I come down as often as I can. Weekends it can obviously be overwhelming with the dogs and kids running around but I prefer going on a weeknight where it's more chill. This place was so cool I loved the atmosphere right as you come in it's like a playground for adults. It was a bit overwhelming just because it's so big and there are typically a lot of people especially around the bar areas but I was able to get my drinks with relatively no problems. The large free games like giant jenga and connect four were fun. As for the other games, you have to pay individually and reserve a time for them. It was a little expensive for those games in my opinion but you can come and still have a good time without doing the bowling or other things. Love this spot at night but don't think I'll be going back during the day lol. It was overrun by kids who barely let you walk (fault of the parents not the facility) to the point that if you're not doing duck pin bowling, you don't have an escape from them lol. On the contrary, their drinks are really good and they allow you to bring in your own food since they do not have a kitchen. The space itself is really nice and well taken care of. I came here this past weekend and had a really great time. It was a very large group of 20-30+ people. Some of us bowled, others played beer long, some played giant jenga, and others slid down the slide. Great music to sing and dance to. Variety of drinks: beer, cider, cocktails. The venue is surprisingly large. It's quite shocking how much they placed there. Definitely a great alternative to Dave & Busters. Honestly, the only reason I'm giving it a 3/5 is because of an incident I observed. Some young guy had been near the slide area and was told to get out of the way due to safety. The guy refused and got argumentative so security rightly kicked him out. The guy was visibly being mouthy (we could all see through the glass windows from inside) and kept instigating the staff that took him outside. Next thing I know, one of the guards grabbed him and got physically aggressive with him. I paused and began to wonder if I needed to call the cops to stop this. Other staff helped interfere. I'm not saying it's OK this guy was possibly being offensive, but the situation could have been handled better. In any other place, getting physically aggressive is a fireable offense, so this really was unnecessary. That situation was very uncomfortable to watch, and definitely not what I was hoping to see when trying to destress from a long week at work. Other than that, I enjoyed the venue. TO CLARIFY: I don't think the staff needs to be dismissed. It was a very difficult situation. Giving additional training, or maybe giving staff the ability to connect faster with law enforcement, when patrons don't leave the outside property, would be a great option. As I mentioned above, the customer was being unnecessarily difficult and visually observed to verbally instigate. Staff did a great job at immediately removing the guy. read more

tl;dr: fun new spot on the south side that offers throwback games and new duck pin bowling. Can get loud and chaotic as the night progresses though. ~~ This place is really fun! We decided last minute to check it out on a cold rainy evening. We went at like 7pm so it was pretty tame in terms of business. I'm really glad we went at this time because as the night progressed, things got more and more chaotic and crowded. As a neurodivergent person, the noise level and crowdedness got to be too much closer to 9pm but earlier it was tolerable. So keep that in mind if that tends to impact you as well. You check in at the cage and sign up for the duck pin wait-list. They only let us do 1 game at the time which we waited maybe 40min for overall. In the meantime, we went to the plaza across the street to get burritos from the food truck and brought them back to eat with beer. (you can bring outside food in. They don't serve food. Only drinks) NOTE: there are no napkins anywhere??? So make sure you bring your own from your food place or get paper towels from the bathroom like us. The bar has many beer options but took a bit of time to get noticed to place an order. Duck pin bowling is actually really fun! I'd never done it before but it's easy to get the hang of. I was sad we were only allowed 1 game though. It went fast and there were many many empty lanes adjacent to us so I wasn't sure why we were being limited which was frustrating. Good news is there is a lot to do other than bowling. We got quarters (they have a cash exchange machine) for pinball. Each game is $1 which seemed like a lot. There is also skee ball but it was packed so we weren't able to play that. They have many other games too like foosball, giant beer pong, bocci, etc. We didn't play these ones but lots of folks were. The arcade area downstairs was my favorite part. It's FREE and there are so many solid throwback options. They also had a throwback Nintendo section but again, was packed so we weren't able to get a game in. As the night progressed, it got so so much busier and loud and rowdy. So we finished our games and left around 9p to avoid the chaos. Lots of straight bro vibes which as a queer couple is not our scene. I'd go again though early in the evening because it wasn't too busy then. Also dogs and kids are allowed so keep that in mind if that matters to you. It's fun! I've now been to Pins twice, both times on a Sunday (kids bowl for free!). The first time I went was later in the afternoon and we walked right in and got to bowl right away. Last weekend I was there around 2pm and there was a 2 hour wait for bowling. There's so much other fun stuff, the wait isn't that big of a deal, but it was very crowded. The bartenders let people cut you in line when you're waiting and don't know how to make drinks on their speciality cocktail menu. Bartender had to look up the recipe. Put our name down for the patio pong and there was literally no one playing. When asked about it after no one playing for 20 minutes the girl at the front kept rolling her eyes and had a snarky attitude. Still no one playing and asked about it again to see if we could play and said they have a 5 minute wait to see if people will play. No one has played in the timeline for 4 reservations and whoever is managing the timelines is snarky. Also, the girl at the front doesn't even give an estimated wait time. Once we received the text for the waitlist it said estimated 100-115 minutes.
