I went to Pinxto y Tapas for dinner for a Valentine's Day dinner with my wife. The place is so cozy with lighting that fits the mood. The place offers excellent service and really good food. The waiters are awesome and take care of everyone, all you have to do is raise your hand and there will be someone at your side within seconds ready to refill your drink or get you whatever you need. The food is really good especially the crab stuffing on a few dishes. I had the langoustines stuffed with crab meat and they were incredible. The octopus was a bit chewy and that's why the four stars. But other than that the dinner was outstanding and the place is fantastic. Plenty of parking right outside the door makes it a truly convenient spot for a good meal. They have a nice bar area upon entering and a beautiful dining room in the back so that you have a choice of areas to sit and enjoy. read more

The meatballs, I mean taste like they were from IKEA. At the least, they were definitely frozen. The pork belly was just okay nothing special. The skirt steak was the final straw for us. Immediately the presentation wasn't great but when we went to have a bite you can smell it. It smelled like that last bit of ground meat you left in fridge for a week because you forgot about it. The juice underneath didn't have much red to it like you would imagine a steak would, instead it just looked gross and gray. We were immediately done after that. I kindly asked the waiter for the bill but refused to pay for the steak we didn't eat because of how it smelled. He was very polite and didn't argue and without hesitation he gave me the bill without the steak being charged. On one hand I appreciate not making a scene but I was surprised that a manager didn't at least talk to us about our dissatisfaction. It almost felt like it was normal. 2 stars because the ambiance was nice and the waiters did rotate frequently to us to see how things were. First time here. Food was great and very favorable. Dessert to die for, especially the crepes with mousse and walnuts (Filloas Gallegas) and the Serradura (a pudding dish with whip cream and crumbled cookies or graham crackers). To begin the meal was a delicious sopa de gallego (broth with white beans, sausage or ham, and green turnips or something like that) and really good bread rolls. Then we transitioned with appetizers, which included grilled octopus (wish they would have provided a sauce with it for more flavor), fried calamari, and beef empanadas, Maduros, and last but not least, the most flavorful and delicious appetizers of all, Montaditos Panceta (pork belly on a toast with grilled/sautéed onions). For main course we got Paella Valenciana, which was good but a bit soggy; too much water remained in the pan. Wasn't thrilled that they precooked seafood and then added it to the dish - noticeable won't be boiled shrimp that was added. I cook, so I can tell the shrimp was not cooked right he rice the entire time. Now for service, what really pissed me off is when the waiter approached the table and started to speak Spanish. No waiter should assume a customer speaks Spanish. I had to stop him during his introduction. Then came my Diet Coke with no ice, which was flat. He exchanged it for me and brought me another flat one with ice this time. Third attempt had no ice but still the soda was flat. Ambiance was nice, reminded me of Europe, Spain specifically. As for price, not bad. For two and for all the food we ordered, with 20% tip, total was almost $200. read more

We came here tonight for dinner, and it is overall a nice experience. We order claims in green sauce , shrimp in garlic sauce , octopus and paella and they are all very good. I would only complain the small portion of octopus, as it's a small tail but cost $24 which I would probably not gonna order this dish again as I didn't really see the value. My favorite dish is clams in green sauce , the clams are super fresh, tender and juicy, they are cooked perfectly and serve in hot green garlicky sauce which is perfect for dipping the bread in. The rest of the dishes we ordered are priced well and very delicious. I usually am not a desert person but I really like the crema Catalana ( crème brûlée) that we ordered. There are three waiters taking care of the dining room and I think they all do excellent job and very efficient. I take 1 star off as they charge 3.5% fee if you paid credit card. I am such a sucker for tapas and Pintxo y Tapas has been on my list to visit for a while. My SO and I decided to make reservations for an early dinner before going to a show, and we did street parking about a block away. First, the service was spectacular, everyone was so attentive and always made sure our drinks were filled. There are several vegetarian options available on the menu, so I was able to order an appetizer and an incredible paella. Fresh and flavorful, my paella was the best I've had at any tapas restaurant so far. My meal also came with the option of soup, but the server confirmed that I was vegetarian before letting me know that the soup had meat. These little details are so appreciated, so I was really impressed with the staff. The red sangria was quite good, I ended up ordering a mini pitcher for myself. The interior décor was fantastic, offering an intimate and authentic atmosphere, I really couldn't recommend this place more. read more

My wife and I had a fantastic experience here. We had been here once before, a couple of months ago before a show at Bergen PAC, and it was great. We were going to another show on 4/4, so I called to see if I could reserve two seats at the bar. The gentleman I spoke to, said he could not reserve seats at the bar, but he would save me a high top in the bar area in case there were no seats at the bar when we arrived. When we arrived, the bar, and most of the restaurant was full. The host, who introduced himself as Jose (maybe the owner?), immediately showed us to a reserved high top table for 4, giving the two of us plenty of room. Jose was seating people coming into the restaurant as well as acting as our waiter. The service was impeccable, the 3 tapas items we had, fired calamari, shrimp and garlic, and a special of avocado stuffed with tuna and crab meat, were all delicious, and a nice portion. We also had a pitcher of excellent red sangria. The pacing of our meal was perfect, and we never felt rushed, even though the place really filled up, and we were at a table for four. Got here very early with my family for lunch. Although we were the only ones when we first arrived, the place quickly filled to capacity! The occupancy speaks to how delicious the food is. The house sangria was fantastic and the triple sec/brandy soaked fruit inside packed quite a punch. We started with a few rounds of tapas (pulpo, croquettes, shrimp, sardines I believe) and then moved on soup and paella. My in-laws practically ordered for me when I initially said no to the sopa gallega, but I am so glad I had it! The seafood paella is everything you are imagining and more. I came to this restaurant because I lovee paella and I saw that they had it here! I came on a saturday afternoon and there weren't many people so I was seated right away. I ordered red sangria, grilled baby squid with 3 sauces and paella marinera. Everything was delicious but I honestly think the grilled squid was my favorite! We got a pitcher of sangria and it was yummy, pretty strong too. Service was great, waiter was very friendly and gave plenty of suggestions. The wind blew us into Pintxo y Tapas (no really the Verrazano upper level closed) but the lovely smells of the food and warm atmosphere kept us there. The seating was tight (perhaps not by pre-Covid measures). It was very busy on a Saturday night and when we walked in my friend and I were worried we would be rushed. I was glad I made reservations. The waiters moved about the room in a rush but they did not hurry us along to order. We started with a bottle of white while we waited for another friend to join us. We ordered and chatted over the wine and the tapas that came. And still no one bothered us. We were there, chatting as only old friends can do, for nearly 3 hours! I have been going to this restaurant for years with my family, starting off when it was Tapas De Espana, through the current ownership and name. It has always consistently been a fantastic experience, with great attention to detail by all of the staff, and terrific food. I almost always order the croqetas de Jamon, and the Paella Marinera, followed by the orange sorbet for dessert, and it has stayed consistently great for the past decade-plus. I would like to share the horrible experience I had tonight. Decided to go out for dinner with my parents and another couple (6 people in total) We showed up at around 6:45pm and asked for a table for 6, the hostess said oh if you don't have a reservation you can't stay. I turned around to tell everyone I was with and another big party walked in (around 8 people)they told the hostesses they didn't have a reservation and then he said hi to the waiter and the waiter said don't worry I'll seat you and sat them down right away. So if you plan on going for dinner make sure you know someone at the restaurant in order to be sat down. Based on the customer service I received tonight I will never come back. read more
