Their service was flawless: they promptly returned calls, created a wonderful and diverse selection of hors d'oeurves menu @ a very reasonable price, and had a very kind and gracious staff. They were always attentive front start to finish. They were prompt in arriving, set-up quickly and beautifully, and extremely attentive to our 400 guests (some of whom were immobile) and had to be served at the table. I am in LOVE with PINX! Their stuffed sweet potato waffles...OMG, seriously?! Waffles, stuffed with sweet potato and topped with maple syrup. Whipped cream or ice cream if you want it. Off the hook. My wife did a surprise party for my birthday and catered Pinx. They came into my house and served the best meal in the world. When I'm on death row they will cater my last meal. Braised Ox tails over polenta, smothered chicken, smoked Gouda Mac n Cheese with bacon, crab cakes, spinach dip, Cajun corn with andouille sausage, Black rice and chocolate pot de creme. After contacting 15 caterers who were overpriced and way out of our budget, we finally found Pinx and they were great! We hired Pinx for our company's end of the year party. I tried PINX for the first time back in 2011 when they were at the SF Food Festival and then I found that they catered events when I saw them at an event for Jovance Salon and Barbering. I pretty much fell in love with their food so when I was put in charge to help plan our year end holiday event I knew I was going to use them. The place we had our event at was not the most accessible venue but the guys who brought the food were awesome. They were very patient and understanding when I told them they had to come around the back of the building when they were already out front. They came in and set everything up in less than an hour and with all the food we had, that was impressive. The decor on the table was gorgeous. The food... OH THE FOOD!! It was sooooo good! Everyone and I mean everyone enjoyed it! The BBQ Short ribs and the mashed potatoes were the talk of the party but everything was great! The sweet potato crumble bites, red velvet cookies, and mixed berry trifle were scrumptious! Went to Pixar, got to try PINX, and I'm so impressed. I wish I could go back to Pixar just so I can get more food. First, they had a lot of variety: sweet potato waffles, chicken and waffles, frittata, maple glazed bacon, and fruit. I tried the sweet potato waffles and they were heaven. It had a caramel bourbon sauce and whipped cream on top and every bite was so good that I got it 3 times. The waffle was crispy and every bite had sweet potato. The best food, however, was the chicken. Their chicken was fried very well and it was also sweet. Not too sweet like candy, but more like a tinge of sweetness that you could taste in each bite. And to top it off, the chicken was juicy. I was at Pixar for 2 hours and had around 4 pieces of chicken because it was so good. I also tried the fruit medley and it was very fresh and food. We do a lot of special events and catering at my work and I have never been so dissatisfied by a catering service in my professional career. We paid nearly $1,000 for 5 boxes of food that likely only cost ¼th of that. I have never had a catering order come in boxes before...it looked very unprofessional. There were 10 slices of stale baguette toasts between 2 boxes of cheese. I've never seen a cheese order come without plenty of crackers and bread slices. Also, there were no knives to slice the cheese...actually no serving utensils provided at all. There were no cups provided for the drinks and very few plates and napkins for 150 people. Pinx recently hosted my baby shower, which was a great success. You can't beat their competitive pricing, which was so reasonable compared to all other caters we contacted. We wanted an experience that offered a nice mix fun food and they definitely delivered - sweet potato waffles, cheddar waffles with fried chicken skewers, bacon wrapped shrimp, fig/brie/caramelized onion crostini, pear/pistachio/brie salad, and charcuterie platers. Set up and break down went smooth, and all our guests commented on how delicious the food was... so a big thank you to Pinx! Only reason we didn't give 5 stars was that the process leading up to the event is rocky. We had to follow up quite a bit, response time lagged, and we were often asked the same questions by different people on the team. That made us nervous, as a potential sign that their final product wouldn't be solid (which thankfully it was). So, if they can adjust and improve their customer service experience upfront, they'll be golden. read more

Pinx catered our wedding and reception for about 70 people this past September, and boy, did they deliver! Food was an important element for us, and since their menu is available online, we knew before we met that they offered dishes we liked, and could accommodate the different preferences and dietary requirements of our guests (soul food, asian food, vegetarian options). Pinky and Sonia were my main points of contact during the planning process and were very helpful throughout: setting up the tasting, advising on rentals, meeting with us beforehand to do a walk-through of the venue, and answering ALL of my many emails and questions. On the day of, Craig and his team arrived early to set up. Their decor was beautiful and professional, and also matched our colors. After the ceremony, we had to move some chairs to the reception area, and the Pinx team didn't hesitate to help, on top of handling cocktail hour at the same time. Email and phone follow up and follow through and responsiveness could not have been better. Their handling of pricing and invoicing was timely and accurate. They worked through multiple menu options and my increasing guest list and at every stage of the process reduced my stress and giving me confidence that we would have the elegant affair that the shower was. This was largely because of pinx contributions to our planning. We were faced with potential rain and Kaelyn planned in a tent for our poolside shower for a fee just in case it would have been needed. Erik and Tina arrived exactly on time and from start to finish Tina and the food on the menu were fabulous! The Sweet Potato and Peach Cobbler, Farmers Market scramble and Shrimp and Grits were all delicious and well presented.
