After taking a red-eye and flying for +7 hours I was starving (was trying to sleep the entire flight... didn't end up doing that). Met up with two friends and we walked around our Airbnb and ended up here (we originally wanted Greek but it was a +20 minute wait) They have a nice outdoor seating area and it wasn't too hot yet so we decided to eat here. We each for a pizza and thought it would be good to have leftovers for later (which we did end up eating btw). The pizza is the size of a MOD pizza (if not slightly bigger) and the crust is on the thinner side which was good. Service was meh (they forgot to give back one of our credit cards). Haven't done Gnocchi day which for those of you that don't know happens to the 29th of every month. Several servers come around with bowls of different renditions of gnocchi. I don't think there was one that I didn't like. What made the experience that much better was the Area Manager Brad. Possibly the only white guy on staff that helps in the serving and going around checking on the customers to see how the food and service is. Not just that just come off as really cool guy. I started going to Piola probably close to 10 years ago @ their Hallandale location where I met Andrew. After getting off of a plane late at night on New Year's Day hangry in Brickell, Piola seemed to be the only place still open at 10pm. Since I love pizza and had been wanting to try this place for the longest, it seemed to be the perfect moment. Service at first was a little slow but once we put in our order everything went smoothly. I ordered the Quattro Formaggi Pizza with gorgonzola, brie and grated parmesan cheese..and then added prosciutto. This pizza definitely did not disappoint. It was thin, crispy, cheesy, fresh, delicious, and I could honestly have it daily and live happily ever after. You can see the pizza being made right in front of you which I love. I love Piola! Every time I am in Miami I visit... this was my 4th visit to the Brickell location and my expectations were completely blown out of the water! I went to Piola for the first time the other night and I was super impressed! For some reason I wasn't expecting much from this spot, but the food was actually REALLY good! They use very fresh ingredients and it's not only authentic Italian, but you can easily eat a healthy and satisfying meal. I highly recommend getting one of their salads to start. The ingredients they use are fresh and it is nice and light. They pizza was great as well! They accidentally gave us the wrong pizza and not only fixed the mistake quickly, but gave us a coupon for the inconvenience. In conversations with friends, they recommended I go to Piola in Brickell on the 29th for Gnocchi day. For anyone that doesn't know, in a few countries in South America (Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil) it is good luck to eat Gnocchi on the 29th of each month. It will bring you financial success. So I went on the 29th (reviewing now as I'm new to Yelp) and it was all you can eat Gnocchi day! As a general pasta fan this was music to my ears. Sat outside on a beautiful but breezy evening. They give you a bowl and every 15 minutes a server comes out with a different variation of Gnocchi and fills up your bowl. A dream come true for me. They also give you a jar of parmesan so you can use however much you want. I would recommend visiting on the 29th of every month. This place is just not good I ordered from here Saturday night and I had to call the restaurant 6 times before they picked up my call I needed to change a topping on the pizza before it was made and of course by the time they picked up the phone she said the manager told her it was too late because the pizza was made already. I came here for brunch today with a group of 8 friends. They sat us down fairly quickly and there was no wait so that was awesome. Once we were sat, the hostess informed us about the $16 all you can drink mimosas which is a great deal. The only issue I had with that is you have to keep going outside to make your mimosa(if you're sitting inside that is). I personally thought that was a bit much, especially if you are trying to have a good time with friends. When you check in you get a free margarita pizza which was yummy! I would highly advise getting the smoke salmon pasta(not the proper name). It is so freaking delicious!!!!! Once we received the check our server charged me for my free pizza so I told him to remove it which he did afterwards. Gnocchi overload!! Came here with my wife on the 29th of January (which is all you can eat gnocchi day) and needless to say I got my money's worth. For $15, Piola offers about 5 different gnocchi creations which are delivered to the table in oversized bowls every 5-10 minutes. The gnocchi is cooked to perfection and my favorite flavor is the pesto! Unfortunately, the pesto only came around every 25 minutes which considering the speed I eat at, I only got the pesto once. Been to Piola on several other occasions and the food is always solid. The menu offers a wide selection of pizzas, pastas and other Italian favorites. The service is good and the outside seating area is nice to bring along your furry friend. With a ton of Italian restaurants in the Brickell area, Piola does a good job of keeping the food good and the prices reasonable. These factors will surely keep customers including myself coming back in the future. read more

My gf and I have been coming here regularly for about a year, and the past half-dozen times or so we've eaten at the bar. We've been regulars because the food is pretty good, but tonight was disappointing and disturbing. First, if you're sitting at the bar, prepare to be harassed by the ever-present fruit flies. The bartender will tell you it's just a normal part of having a bar, but that's only partly correct; it's a normal part of having a dirty bar. Here's a tip: wipe down the surfaces behind the bar and don't let dozens of dirty glasses pile up for hours. Next, the wine of the day. The menu says "ask your server about the wine of the day." I had never even noticed that until about two months ago, when our check was less than expected and the bartender explained that the bottle we ordered was the wine of the day. Cool. Well tonight the bartender says he's never heard of the wine of the day. I asked the manager (whom we've seen there for at least a year) and he denied having any knowledge of a wine-of-the-day special. Again, the menu (as of today's date) encourages customers to "ask about the wine of the day." Are we to believe that the longtime manager (owner?) is unaware of that? Or are they just trying to squeeze out a few extra bucks by denying that such a thing exists? If the latter, at least revise your menu accordingly. And finally, the two-for-one. When we've sat at the bar we've typically ordered two entrees and a dessert, and every time the second entree came off the check. Not tonight, though. Tonight the dessert came off the check, and the bartender (and then the manager) explained that "two for one" actually means that the cheapest item is deducted. So, for example (and not that this restaurant has these dishes), if you were to order two $40 entrees and a $3 order of breadsticks, they would remove the $3 order of breadsticks and call that "two for one." The manager confirmed that this is how they apply the policy now. I don't have to elaborate on why this is misleading and dishonest. The manager explained that all the previous times the second entree was removed from the check was due to employees applying the two-for-one incorrectly. I don't know whether their kitchen fire from two weeks ago has caused them to change longstanding policies in order to increase revenue, but if that's the case at least be honest about it instead of pleading ignorance about your longstanding policies and your CURRENT menu language. It's not about the money, by the way. We regularly eat at more upscale, expensive restaurants. It's about the principle and being played for a fool. Full disclosure: the manager removed the second entree and charged for the dessert, per longstanding practice. But that doesn't address the underlying issues here and I don't think we'll be back because we try to avoid doing business with those who engage in deceptive practices. It's a shame, too, because both managers (or owners, not sure) we've dealt with have seemed nice enough. read more

I'm not really sure why I came here twice, but then I remember both occasions were events organized by others. Piola doesn't have much diversity in their food offerings, and what they have is very mediocre. Sure, the $16 all you can drink brunch is somewhat of a draw, but after splitting a small amount of food with a group the bill still came out to over $30 a person. As others have mentioned, they have used the Yelp check in offer and still were charged for it. We had to ask several times to remove it from the bill- Really not worth it. I've been here many times and only go here now for gnocchi night. Gnocchi night is on the 29th of each month and it is unlimited, all you can eat gnocchi. There are about 8 different types including salmon in a creamy pink sauce (my favorite and make sure to save room for this!), Bolognese, pesto, cheese sauce, tomato sauce, and cream with prosciutto. The waiter brings you one at a time and will keep repeating till you are full. It's about $20 to do this but it is very good. Otherwise, their food is over priced and very average. I've had their pizza and other pastas and they are absolutely nothing special. I can make better in my own kitchen. A friend also ordered their ceviche once and I can name 10 places within walking distance with better ceviche. Eh. On my first night in Miami, we went to Piola for a quick bite. We sat outside along with over-tanned folks with too much cosmetic surgery and their dogs. They had at least three pages of pizza but I didn't feel like pizza. After traveling all day, I just wanted something light. I had a seafood (tuna, salmon and shrimp) salad. I asked about the salmon to see if it was fresh. The waiter said it wasn't smoked but it wasn't fresh salmon. Then what was it? Well, I would say it's closer to smoked. All their salads do not come with dressing. They give you bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I don't mind mixing my own dressing but seriously, I like variety. If I came here more often, I wouldn't want just olive oil and balsamic every single time. My $6.50 glass of pinot noir was crap. Considering I just had a similarly priced glass in LA the night before, I couldn't believe how tannic this one was. And there was a bit of cork floating in it. Service was okay until my friend took home her pizza and realized they gave her the wrong one. She had ordered one with meat and the pizza she got didn't have any. Piola offers delicious pizza at an extravagant price. Fortunately, three days per week that same delicious pizza is offered for $7. That's right, Monday-Wednesday before 6 PM, a full pizza is $7. Every hour after 6 the price goes up one dollar. I don't think I would ever go for $15/pizza at Piola. Miami is jam-packed with restaurants that serve better fare than pizza for that price. However, Monday-Wednesdays I am more than happy to fork out $7 for a filling, yummy dinner. The spacious, quiet interior of the restaurant makes Piola the perfect meetup spot for large groups, as well as offering enough seclusion for couples who want their own space. Typically each of us gets our own personal pizza, as the thin-crust type of pizza they serve is not as filling as Papa Johns (fortunately taste is a hundred times better). My preference is the Rimini, which is a heavy salmon-topped pizza with great flavor. Ultimately, my advice is to yelp around for new eats on the weekend, and make your Monday a little better with half-priced Piola. Enjoy! read more

The service tonight was absolutely amazing. You would think we were celebrities by how many times we were greeted and checked on. We ordered the Machu Picchu salad and it was huge! We had plenty to take home. The Rossa pizza we ordered is pretty much a plain cheese pizza with fresh tomatoes and basil on top.. Delicious!!!! Yesterday for lunch I went with my son and daughter to eat lunch and my daughter loves the pizza here, so we went Piola, Brickell as this one her favorite places. I've heard a lot about the place but this my first time going and I was excited to try great food, hard find in Miami. So we sat our selves and a server brought us menus, prices for pizza little high I thought but this is Brickell. so we ordered and before our drinks even arrived the manager who is bald with blue eyes came over and asked everything ok, he immediately seen we had only menus and I have to admit he's very funny, and made a joke about it and took our drinks and he got them right away, when he returned the server was taking our order. so after he dropped drinks he said he be back to check on the food, I have never in 20 years seen a manager at a restaurant go to every single table and carry on a conversation and excuse himself, just at the right time as to not be annoying. it was like he knew the whole restaurant, really worked the floor and after he leaves each table the table always be laughing. the table next to us said the best service they have ever received in Miami. this guy knew things before it would happen, swear. great anticipation of his guest needs. just incredible! anyway so 20 minutes passes and again here comes the bald manager stopping every table laughing and joking, when he got to us we were done eating and at this point, I told my daughter to worst spaghetti I ever had. so as the manager is talking to us and removing dishes he immediately saw I didn't eat my plate and a look of concern came over his face, I explained I will pay for my dish, but worst plate I had. here is were this guy super, so he afford get me something else, we had no time and he suggested to go and I refused, he took the plate off the bill, but wait! here is where that restaurant is very different, so you think that's it? Nope, he came over and explained to me that his job and the all Piola guest must leave laughing and smiling and no less than 100 happiness in the guest visit to Piola. he said that we understand people work hard for there money and at Piola, they take guest service very serious, said the have months of training just on how to make a guest happy. I never heard of this but this guy sure knew what he was doing with us. so he went on and told me if I am ever not happy with plate always let them know right away because only perfection is accepted, in both food and service. so he explained and I listen but it was like he was very hurt and was concerned about me being hungry, so after work, I walked over and brought a guest to see if that manager was all an act, or that's how the service was always. guess what that manager was the bartender and immediately recognized me came out from bar greeted me and explained he was covering the bar and if I needed anything to let him know. we sat at a table outside and this time ordered pizza, was the best pizza in the world, no joke. anyway, as my partner was talking during the night I watched that manager and the other I think was a manager, not sure because he stayed up host stand my have been a host but no one accept the bald manager came out and checked on me twice and the other tables outside and went back to bar. I am writing this because I have lived in Miami all my life and never in 60 years have I ever had that type service and for it to be the same service for everyone in there, was amazing this man has an interest in everyone that eats there and I am sorry but never been place with that type service. the server was busy but he to was good just to busy i guess to stay to long. so in conclusion, the place went from a 1 star to a 20 star just because the way they treat their guest, seem really live what they say, they care if your full and yes we were laughing when we left talking about the conversation we had with manager and we talked about it rest of the day. just amazing, if you don't believe me go see for yourself and comment here to tell me I was right, just amazing. Quality of food and service has changed. Last experience, I ordered from EAT24 and Food was super cold and super late. EAT24 refused to get my money back. Because the restaurant says we are sure it's fresh and warm. That's super bad when you are a loyal customer. The restaurant knows food was really late. Just think it's impossible my food order takes 1 hour and half to delivery just 500 meters from the restaurant. When I examined the chicken closer I realized I was really eating a frozen chicken nugget with tomato sauce and cheese. Piola is different then a lot of pizza places in Miami,it includes friendly service that not only greets but has some brief conversation with there customers. It also has good pizza. Now if you are a thin crust lover then this is the place and it has a better cheese to sauce ratio(more cheese). Although it does have its con like how the pizza isn't always the hottest when they serve it to you, the pizzas are for 4-5 people and the pop is 2.50$ for a can.
