Very tasty pizza spot! Came with a party of 5 and we're seated quickly. My little one the gluten free pizza with cheese and she really enjoyed it. I had a bite of the crust and it was tasty. We started with the Caesar salad it was great. I love the sliced cheese on top of it. We then shared a mushroom and prosciutto pizza. Wow... It was delicious! I would definitely order that again. This was my very first time visiting this Italian restaurant because It always seems to be full. It's located in Hallandale. Many parking spots available in the plaza. Since the restaurant was full we decided to order to go from the bar. The restaurant is very cozy and looked clean. We were welcomed by a very friendly staff. The pizza pie comes in one size and the crust is thin. Perfect flavor. Our waiting time for the pizzas was very short. It's been a while since I came to Piola and I don't know what happened, but the food was terrible! This is the place we went when we craved gnocchi but were lazy to make them ourselves. We ordered gnocchi with legnano, pompeii and crudaiola sauce. We also ordered Toscanini salad and focaccia. The gnocchi were so bad!! The texture and taste were completely different from what it was! Some were large, some were smaller, and tasted like flour rather than potatoes as it should be. Also the proportions were smaller and only the legnano sauce was good. We ordered delivery while we were on vacation. We got a salad and two pies. The order came much faster than they estimated, but now we know why. The pizza was room temp. Not like it was hot and cooled during delivery. Like it was cooked earlier in the day. Too bad, the pizza was actually good. Our salad was good as well. What a great find close to Hallandale Beach. They serve some of the best thin crust pizza I have had in a long time. The Capricciosa pizza with ham, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts is incredible. We started with a Caesar salad and glad we split it because it was huge. With the short staffing we were worried about service, but the waitstaff were great and we got our salad a couple minutes after we placed the order. The pizzas are made in a corner of the dining room and placed into a brick oven. There are three guys working in a tiny space and one is using a long handled pizza peel. I'm surprised someone doesn't get knocked out as fast as they are working. We had a Romanian waiter whose English was very good. He said he also speaks Spanish and Portuguese. read more

My partner and I were looking for a coal fired pizza type of restaurant (like Anthony's), but at a lower price point. So I was browsing around Yelp (and in the Aventura/North Miami/Hallandale area), and I came across Piola. It's funny, I'm in the area of Piola frequently, but have never noticed the restaurant! Piola is located in Hallandale Beach, right off Hallandale Beach Blvd. (in the Winn Dixie shopping center, just a couple of businesses to the right of Winn Dixie), with plenty of free parking in front of the restaurant. My partner and I dined at Piola on Labor Day around 8 PM or so and walked right up and were seated immediately inside. They have a large patio area, and also a large section of tables inside as well. It's been quite some time since I have been so impressed with the restaurant staff. We were greeted by multiple restaurant employees as we were seated, and we felt like we were eating in their house. I read up on Piola's website and saw the business started and Italy and is now a small franchise with multiple locations in Florida and Texas. We were greeted warmly by our server, and we studied the menu. We started with a full carafe of the house white wine for $22. The wine was decent for the price, and definitely will order it again. For food, we started with the Caesar salad ($9), and the Garlic Knots ($8). The Caesar salad was huge! Definitely big enough for 3 people to share. Caesar salad would be a great dinner entree if you added chicken to it. The Garlic Knots include 6 and are bite sized, but are very fresh and the perfect portion. We absolutely loved both items and everything came out fresh and extremely tasty. For our entrees, we couldn't decide between the pizza or pasta, so I ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese ($16) and my partner ordered the Carbonara pizza ($14) and we shared the dishes. This was a perfect way to experience their menu and try multiple things and I highly suggest this option. We had so much food with all of this, we had plenty for lunch leftovers the next day. I was so impressed with Piola during the meal, I can't wait to return. I'm still excited about the food and the entire experience the next day. read more

We came here exactly one year after our first visit on a Saturday for a quick lunch before going to the Florida Derby. We were actually reluctant to try them again because of our mediocre experience of last year, but we didn't find anything else this close to the racetrack that was appealing to us that day. Well, I'm so happy we went back: we were actually so satisfied that we decided to come back for dinner once the Derby finished! For lunch I had an Aristotele salad and just a slice (for taste) of pizza Capricciosa that my husband ordered: you could tell that both the salad (which comes in a big portion) and the pizza were made with fresh ingredients. For dinner I had the gnocchi Legnano, part of which I had to bring home because they were too much for me: I loved them! My husband's Pappardelle alla Bolognese were also really good. I visited Piola a couple of weeks ago, it was my first time in this location. We stayed with some Pinot Grigio, the only white wines were from the house, and it was ok. We were a table of 5 so we shared a couple of pizzas to start with. Margherita pizza and Pepperoni pizza, both were good. The dough was ok, and the sauce of the pizza was very mild. My uncle asked to be cut in 6 pieces, and when we got them they were cut in 4, luckily our server took them back to cut them the right way because if not, the slides would be way too big. For entrees, I shared with my boyfriend the Spaghetti Crudaiola which was practically spaghetti with tomato sauce, it was ok. I can tell the past was from a box, which was ok but the sauce since they added diced tomatoes on top of the tomato-based sauce, the diced tomatoes changed the flavor of the overall dish when you eat it due to its heavy acidity vs when they have been cooked as a sauce. It was a good serving to share between two people and pizza. My uncle got the Piola's Meatballs, he loved those and it comes with plenty of focaccia sticks. My aunt shared with her friend, that Fusilli Bianco Verde, is the only pasta with a gluten-free option and they like it. The restaurant itself seems kind of old, and the bathrooms and the way to it, definitely need some work. I don't know what kind of chicken is used for pizza, but it tastes like straight up canned chicken. The pizza was flimsy and undercooked. For pasta, I ordered chicken parmigiana - the pasta had no seasoning; the pasta was just boiled and then the chicken was just placed on top (attempting to mask how plain the pasta is). My friends and I were craving pizza so we decided to pick up from this place and bring it back to our resort. We got the Moderna, Hollywood and Houston. Overall, the pizzas were good and I loved the crispy thin crusts. My favorite was the Hollywood which had brie cheese and chicken on it. Our only main complaint was that the Houston gave very little avocado that was unevenly spread in large chunks. It would've been nicer to have smaller pieces throughout the whole pizza as some slices didn't have any at all. This place also has a bunch of great deals when you dine in on specific days so we'll definitely try that next time! read more

Outdoor tables near the host stand. We had the Moderna with tomato sauce, mozzarella, diced tomatoes, arugula, and shaved parmesan. Add prosciutto to share a few slices for two. I've had some really great salads here over a few years and they used to have my favorite beer, but yesterday was different. As a chef and culinary graduate I have been a part of the restaurant business in many facets since the 1980's. Now in my 70's and living in Florida I enjoy going out to eat while enjoying the beverage of my choice. As a former beer drinker I now enjoy a zero alcohol beer like Heineken 0.0 or any other. Most places carry one of these beers because I am not alone and it's the same price as any other bottled beer. Piola doesn't carry any such thing. So, I brought 3 of my own, being perfectly willing to pay a bottle charge of say $20. They do have such a service for people who bring their own bottle of wine. Instead of treating me with respect as a customer and negotiating this, they told me I could finish the one I had opened but no others, end of negotiations. I was there with a group of 8 friends called Cat Friends of Hallandale. This was supposed to be my last good meal before my upcoming hip surgery and now I was no longer happy about eating there! So, I didn't. The organizer of our group was picking up the tab, but with me it was a matter of principle. I think the situation should've been handled differently, as in accommodating in order to make the customer feel welcome and comfortable. I was willing to do what it would take to have my zero beer and a great meal, but they were not of that mindframe. By the way, we were there at noon and the only full table at that time, so this shouldn't have been difficult. read more

Their customer service and food quality is the worst I have ever e countered. I actually spoke to a manager and she was worst then her employees. I ordered on Uber eats and only half the order was sent. Called 3 times the 1st time they told me they would send it the 2nd time they told me that it was not their fault but that of the uber delivery that only took half the order and proceeded to hang up on me . And last the manager was the worst she should really be fired as she is no example for her employees. The food it self is tasteless and it was sent with no utensil nor napkins the bag was openned.. Saturday evening we decided to order pizza and share with some friends since we are all quarantining in the same building. We ordered on line and picked it up. We ordered 5 different pizzas and they were ready for pick up in 20 minutes. We all loved the thin crust and the freshness of the ingredients. I think they were out of prosciutto because "Como", my favorite pizza it made with shiitake mushrooms and topped with prosciutto cruto but It was topped with beef carpaccio instead. Quality of the food has always been good but the service is consistently bad and you can always count on having NO BASIL on your margarita pizza. Frustrating to order pizza from here almost every week and consistently have to ask for it, I decided to order delivery for once and I was not disappointed. I received NO BASIL! On top of that since you use their website to order there is no way to get a refund even by going to the store. I was hanged up the phone twice and then they disconnected it. When I arrived at the store they couldn't refund me and were extremely nonchalant except for the young gentleman that said spoke to me on the phone, he seemed like the only one that understood.
