Wow! What a great experience. The sushi is 10/10 it's all about their preparation, quality, freshness. I feel like it melts in your mouth. Definitely, one of the best sushi's in the South Bay. David was a true star! He is one of the nicest servers I met. He made our experience 20/10 Thank you for going over and beyond. It's a takeout spot which I didn't know because in the past we would dine-in. Overall, if you want amazing sushi you won't be disappointed.

We are back baby! I don't know what happened but the best sushi in Manhattan Beach is back. They closed for a remodel? They have everything online now, which is convenient for ordering. But not for the weekends. I don't live in Manhattan and they only have delivery options on the weekends, but they don't deliver to my area. The service fee they add now is pretty hefty 10%. Which is no joke considering the price, plus tax, service fee and tip. They do send coupons and have rewards you can redeem. Those basically negate the service fee and a little more.

Pisces sushi is like no other! I have a couple of favorites, the Toro is an indulgent experience, it's smooth, rich, and melts in your mouth as soon as you taste it- I love the delicate, bright flavor of their 2 pc Shiromi, it's so light and tangy, it really perks up and energizes your palette! Their chirashi bowls are very generous; their perfectly seasoned sushi rice pairs so well with the ample fish cuts, I actually feel spoiled any time I receive them. Kioshisan takes great care on masterfully preparing each cut (to order, mind you), it's obvious this has been a labor of love for him and Sarasan over the years; we are blessed to be able to experience it! Thanks for re-opening and the care that is carried over in to delivering a wonderful experience to all those who love and support Pisces

Love their fresh fish and is still my favorite place. They are closed Monday and Tuesday, so other times I was out there I wasn't able to go there. They used to have a few seats available to eat there, but now they are exclusive take-out. The fish is still amazing.

On business travel near LAX and came here not realizing it was take out only. Hesitated only slightly then ordered a spicy tuna roll, yellowtail roll and salmon sashimi which I ate on the beach. Quality as well as size of portions stood out, particularly the very large and reasonably priced salmon. Only slight complaint was seasoning is on the heavier side but freshness of fish and quality of rice and other preparations makes it a 5 star, thanks !!!

Have you ever walked by a place and you're not sure what to think from the outside but have a suspicion that they serve good food? That's Pisces sushi. The lady who took our order at the front desk was friendly. We ordered the: Chef Chirashi Bowl (salmon, yellowtail, tuna, shrimp) Salmon roll Yellowtail roll Bluefin to sushi Tamago sushi Solid portions. Everything tasted great. We took our order and ate it by the beach.

We had three different kinds of rolls. One was a vegetarian roll and the sauce that came with it. Yumm. It was super fresh and tasty. Great portion for the cost.

A local neighbor recommended this place and my husband and I surprisingly have never heard of this place . First off, it's take out only (even when this Covid thing is over) because of the way it's set up. It's a super small but cute ma and pa place (husband and wife team). I called around 5:30 on Friday night (the lady apologized in advance that the wait would be around 2 hours for whatever I was ordering and to please wait for a call from her when my order was ready before heading over. She was not kidding! My order was not ready till closer to 8, so glad I didn't just swing by. Remember : CALL in your order first. I got the following: 2 order hamachi sushi 2 order toro sushi 2 order albacore sushi 1 order sashimi platter 2 order blue fin tuna 1 order tamago 2 miso soups Everything was fantastic!!! Parking is going to be tough , so I recommend you either walk if you are in walking distance or drive with someone and they drop you off while you run in to pick up. The owner is SUPER SUPER sweet, to a fault in fact ! I came in before she called me because I just figured if I went shortly after the 2 hour mark that surely my order would be ready. It wasn't, and I felt so bad and emo at how apologetic the owner was being that I felt like a jerk for coming in before she called! I kept apologizing for not waiting for her to call and she kept apologizing for making me wait! It was like a comedy skit after a while. I can't wait to come back! Cheers!

We brought a family friend from Mexico ( expat) here at our last visit May 22. He was very impressed with the massive amount of food presented and how tasty everything was. Steve made a mental note to tell his niece who lives in Manhattan Beach all about this place. We try to reserve the back booth for privacy. Other than booths there is a large communal dinning table available for guests. Reservations a must as it's not a large restaurant. Quality & quantity of food is outstanding and we always had prompt and efficient service. Beer & sake offered. Did you know Asahi Beer is made in the USA now? We learned that from the bartender so Kagura opted to serve Orion, an Okinawan beer instead. You can't go wrong for a special Japanese dinner. We always order their special dozen sets!

If you've been to Kagura and think you know what to expect--pause. This location hits differently…read more It leans more traditional, a little quieter, and very much about execution. And the tonkatsu? Legit one of the best I've had--perfectly fried with that golden, crisp exterior that somehow stays light, not greasy, and gives way to juicy, tender pork. The kind where you don't even need sauce... but you'll still use it anyway. What really seals it for me here is the gozen sets. If you're indecisive (or just hungry), this is your place. So many combinations, and everything comes out like a full spread. My current go-to is the steak gozen--basically the "why choose?" option. You get miso soup, salad, tonkatsu, tempura, soba... it just keeps coming. It's generous without feeling overdone, and somehow everything still tastes dialed in. I used to be loyal to the sukiyaki gozen (RIP, still not over it), but the steak set has filled that void nicely. Bottom line: delicious, satisfying, and surprisingly good value for how much you get. If you're in the South Bay and craving a proper Japanese set meal--not a rushed version--this is the move.

Unpleasant, but I told my husband to pay the bill, then let them know and show them the shell on our plate after so as not to make a big deal. I've just healed from a tonsillectomy and that could have wrecked me had I swallowed before catching it. I just didn't want it to happen to anyone else. The staff member we told was very kind and said he would take the plate back to show the chefs. Honestly, almost all staff were kind. We shrugged off that one woman kept misidentifying the fish and not a single person could pronounce ponzu. A different staff member came by to apologize, but his "apology" was such a load of bull I couldn't look past it: "Apologies BUT our kitchen picks through the crab for shells at the beginning of the day but it has pieces of shell because it is real crab." It's Southern California. You know how many places serve real crab? And I get to enjoy it without sharp pieces of shell. I can buy premade Dungeness crab cakes at a grocery store with REAL crab and not get stabbed with a shell. Evidently this happens pretty often, because a sweet woman at the table over overheard and told us she gets shell shards literally every time with the crab hand roll, so now she switches it preemptively to a different hand roll. Definitely a smart move on her part. I used to love Sugarfish, but lately they've just been disappointing. The rice in the nigiri is always poorly shaped, if at all. We came to the Manhattan Beach location because the last time we had take out from Marina Del Rey, there was a large bone in the salmon nigiri. Unfortunately, the downturn in quality seems to be across locations.
