Kaya Sushi is just great. It has the best sushi in Los Angeles. The prices are fair and parking is easy. The service is just great. The staff is so friendly and you are greeted when you come in. They know the menu well and can help you with any questions. Everything is made there and it is just perfect. They are fast but never rush you. Some items take a few minutes because it is all made to order. The place is super cute. It is quiet and comfortable. They have the most comfortable booths. It is ever so clean and well maintained. Everything on their menu is great. Their California Roll is wonderful and their tuna is the best. They have a few things that other places don't tend to have and we love that. Their tempura is the best. They have a blue crab tempura which I had never had before and now I am addicted. Their rice and tea are great. Their shrimp tempura can not be missed. Great food, but a most disappointing customer service experience! As lifelong residents of El Segundo, wy wife and I discovered Kaya Sushi a few years back. And only until recently ordered from their menu and were initially very pleased. The restaurant is clean, inviting, and has a pleasant atmosphere, and we enjoyed our food enough that we have returned several times for takeout. We also had a nice first interaction with Sharon, who was welcoming and pleasant when we introduced ourselves. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was very different. On a previous visit, we ordered a Rainbow Roll that we've enjoyed before but this time was quite disappointing. A few days later, I called the restaurant and spoke with Sharon to explain our experience. She was receptive and offered to make it right on our next visit, which I genuinely appreciated. We weren't looking to create a problem--we simply wanted to give the restaurant another opportunity. When we subsequently placed another takeout order, I contacted Sharon as we had discussed. However, the interaction became increasingly uncomfortable. When I explained the issue again, one of the first responses I received was, "Why did you order it?" That response was particularly disappointing because it shifted the focus from our legitimate concern about the food to making us feel as though we were somehow at fault for ordering it. I tried to keep the situation simple and respectful. Ultimately, I said that I didn't want to spend any more time discussing it and suggested that they simply compensate us for the $26 item. Even then, the conversation became unnecessarily contentious, including gas-lighting comments from Sharon that misdirected undue blame on me. I remained respectful throughout the interaction, particularly because I understood that Sharon was working and the restaurant was busy. Nevertheless, I left feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed by the way Sharon had rudely spoke down to me. This is especially unfortunate because my family genuinely enjoys much of the food from Kaya Sushi. My concern isn't about getting something for free; it's about how a customer who has expressed a legitimate concern is treated when asking for a reasonable resolution. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively. A disappointing dish can happen at any restaurant. What makes the difference is how the concern is handled afterward. In my experience, the customer service on this occasion fell well short of the quality of the food. I sincerely hope Kaya Sushi can use this experience as an opportunity to improve, because we would much rather continue supporting a good local restaurant than walk away from it because of a poor customer-service experience. read more

Excellent service from the moment we walked in. She brought a small cup of ice for the kids hot soup, napkins, came with meal recommendations and side plates, all the extras without needing to ask. They were out of one of the things I ordered, which unfortunately is something I look forward to. There is no substitute for uni really. But that happens and it's not their fault. Started with house salad. The ingredients were fresh. If felt underdressed, but the dressing is just watery and most of it ended up at the bottom of the bowl. Still tasty way to start. I was then served the two ha!drolls. The spicy tuna hand roll was pretty good, with a nice amount of tuna. The salmon skin hand roll was fine. But I prefer it when the salmon skin has a little salmon meat on it. But this was made well. The toro sushi was nice., with fresh wasabi. I hit the spot. The japanese scallop sashimi was ok. It didn't have the firmness I associate with fresh scallops (taken from a shell). It was more like scallops that were frozen. They were still ok. The place itself is lovely: There's a waterfall at the entrance that brings a soothing quality to the dining area. The whole place feels cool and cozy, with some background music playing. It's nice. The service is very good. The chefs are pretty quick. The servers are friendly and helpful. This is a nice spot I'd come to again. If probably not gone here for a sushi fix, more for business food with a couple of pieces of sushi; The bill was pretty high for what I got. But I didn't get their designed lunches or specials because I don't want tuna/salmon/yellowtail when I get sushi or sashimi and that costs more. I'm fine with it. read more

My coworkers always come here for lunch in between or after meetings. This restaurant is always consistent, quick and the waiters/waitresses are always on point. First of all, the Yelp reviews here are underrated. This is a superb restaurant that's friendly, attentive, clean, and peaceful (just like the little Buddha statues that align the walls). The ceilings are high, giving the place a mellow, airy feeling. The ambiance is laid back and easy going. There's even a cascading waterfall over a glass wall for that premium look. I've had the dolsot bibimbap, the Bento boxes, and the gyoza. All of it was excellent and fresh, with generous portions. The bibimbap is some of the best I've eaten (better than even those of some of the more expensive Korean restaurants in LA). The shift manager, Sharon, is a delightful host and makes you feel welcome. The rest of the staff is courteous, responsive, polite, and professional. I could eat here everyday if my spoiled American, foodie palate didn't pull me away to other cuisines. (I honestly can't eat food from the same regional cuisine for more than two days at the most.) This is one of El Segundo's best restaurants, full stop. If you're craving Japanese food, sushi, or even Korean cuisine, Kaya is a place you must try. read more

Kaya gave our work group fantastic service for lunch. They seated our group of 10 promptly and within 20 minutes we had our order placed. Had lunch there with a co-worker and both of us had to laughing at how bad the food was, especially compared to the price. We both had beef teriyaki and spicy tuna roll, lunch special. The tuna roll was not bad, what you would expect and nothing more. The beef teriyaki was a joke. The beef was sliced really thin, chewy, and no taste. I think the beef might have been warm but they put cold teriyaki sauce on it and plated the beef on top of cold cabbage. So the beef was thin, tasteless, and cold.
