Stopped in to have dinner to be very disappointed Ordered the baked chicken to do find it was all dark meat. When presented immediately informed the waiter that I wanted white meat. Waiter put an order in that was my entree to be the baked chicken and all white meat. When the bill came found I was charged for two of the same meal. To be told I had to pay. They removed the all dark meat meal so I never ate it. But I was s going to be charged. Asked to speak to manager and conveniently no manager available. So I was charged my meal plus aand additional $15.00 for wHite meat. Honestly don't waste your time at this joint. There are many Other places in mounny Dora that not only would love your business but want you keep your as a repeat customer. read more

Dined outside on 4/20/22. I ordered the Buffalo Bomber sandwich with fries and water. The water didn't taste very good. The sandwich had a hoagie roll that had been toasted to the point that it was rock hard and stale tasting. I tried to take a bite but there was just no way. I ended up eating the filling which seemed to be small pieces of chicken and bits of bacon. The hoagie was probably 5". Nothing generous at all. The fries were also sparse. And 3 ketchup packets came with the fries. Service was extremely slow so it wasn't worth sending it back as the waitress didn't check back until we were almost all finished. I passed on dessert. Other people that I was with also commented that the food wasn't that great, and items were pricey for what you get. The views outside were nice but I don't think I'll be back. read more

This is such a cute spot! The outdoor patio is large and overlooks the water. It's a great place to have a drink and a meal on a nice day. The inside dining room is also pretty big and with the large windows, allows you to also enjoy the view. I was here on a sunday morning for brunch so I was able to enjoy the bottomless mimosas and sangria for 15$. They have quite a few flavors of mimosas to choose from, and both the red and white sangria were fantastic. We started with the hush puppies as an appetizer and they were great. I ordered the shrimp po boy and thoroughly enjoyed it. The shrimp was crunchy, the bread was soft and the remoulade sauce was delicious. The service was great, and the bathrooms were clean. My Husband and I have been coming to Pisces, since the day it opened. A few weeks ago, I was looking through my Journals and saw how many times, we went to Pisces. The food is Phenomenal, we have never had a bad meal. I love all the different foods and changing food. The Service has always been excellent and the Ambiance is wonderful, looking at the lake. Always liked the atmosphere at Pisces. Food is usually served promptly. Most dishes the presentation looks very nice. And tonight was no exception as far as the service and presentation. Service was very good. Our food was excellent. I had the Brisket and Biscuit which was quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever tasted! My husband the Tbone steak which he loved. He said his side of creamed spinach was amazing. My mother in law had shrimp and grits - she loved but was not expecting the andoille sausage which she picked out. Father in-law has halibut, we all cleaned out plates. We would highly recommend this place for dinner. read more

A fun fall evening, good food, drinks and a live band. My first here and I'm willing to bet that there are a lot of locals here on the weekend. We made it time for happy hour, so we saved a few bucks as we wound down the week. The menu offers a bit of everything and I was tempted to go with the Seafood Paella, but instead, I had to have the BBQ Pork Tacos. A delicious mix of pork and slaw. Pisces Rising is a fun place for dinner in Mount Dora. Great views of the water and sunset and every time I've been there they have live music out back on the deck. I had one of the biggest hamburgers ever for dinner - a mess, but wonderful. For dessert, thanks to checking in on Yelp it was free, I had the S'mores Cheesecake. A very unique presentation. Crushed graham crackers on the bottom, followed by the cheesecake and then a chocolate drizzles marshmellow log on top. We (my girlfriends and I) had the pleasure of dining here yesterday and our server was Megan. She was incredible. My friend requested a grey goose over a ice BALL and Megan was able to get one made for her. Amazing customer service. Our drinks were great and our food was even better. We witnessed Megan and the manager, I forgot her name but she was super sweet, having a hard time with the table next to us but they handled it was such professionalism. We were here once before got drinks and apps and it was wonderful. We thought it would be a great pick to take our family visiting from from out of town. A busy night, it was light up Mount Dora, is not an excuse for less than stellar service and sub-par food. Most of our meals came out wrong. Either something was missing , sides were cold or burgers were under cooked. The under cooked burger was placed on the griddle to warm the center. One bite in and that burger was still mooing on the plate. At the end of this meal, we wish not to remember, we were given the wrong bill. Took another 15 minutes this flag our server got the correct one. I think the most interesting event was the male maître d' came barreling into the ladies bathroom (all stalls occupied)to fix the broken toilet. It was a bit odd. read more

We took my boyfriend's family to Pisces Rising for a late Mother's Day celebration, and while I was impressed with the waterfront views and the detailed, vintage building, I was much less excited about our dining experience there. We didn't have any issues with service, although I was confused as to why they did not have a beer menu: we were told that we could find their list of beers written on a chalkboard wall behind the bar, and this was not easy to see from our table. The server had to go to the bar, memorize the list and then come back and repeat it back to us. We ordered a variety of dishes, but I myself was talked into ordering their special of the day, which was a duck and mashed potato spring roll with a chocolate sauce. From the description that the waiter gave it sounded amazing, and it tasted just as good, I was just disappointed in the amount of food that I got for the price that I paid, which I felt was not enough food to justify the high price tag. Everyone in my party had one or two small issues with their dishes, as well, but nothing that warranted sending anything back to the kitchen. While I doubt I will find myself returning to Pisces Rising, overall we enjoyed our lunch and the atmosphere, we just weren't very impressed with the quality of the food. read more

Me and my boyfriend would 1000% go back we had the best time. From the food, to the waiter, to the beautiful view. This place is a new favorite for us both! Our waiter was by far the best waiter we have ever had at a restaurant and we are still raving about the food. I really wish I remembered our waiters name. Let me start by saying we will be back. The food was excellent, the menu choices were great and everything was well described, the server was outstanding, the almost lakeside location was excellent, and the athmosphere was wonderful. So why a three? The bathroom location was embarrasing for a mobility challenged person like my wife, and we spend most of our meal fighting off three huge flies that decided to join us. One star of for each problem. We will be back in a couple of monhs to see if things are better. It's not a cheap place, so I'm sure they can do better. read more

As a full time resident, we have been going to Pisces for over 17 years. However the last 3 years the menu has remained unchanged is very limited and boring. The portions have decreased and , of course the prices have more than doubled. I will gladly pay the higher prices but only for an improved menu that has dinner specials . There is no separate dinner menu, just the same boring and not so good all day menu. Please reinstate dinner menus with a variety of seafood dishes and more sophisticated choices. read more

Very nice lunch experience today. Mojitos were excellent. My brisket on biscuit sandwich was very tasty and my wife's burger was very well cooked and she enjoyed it very much. Overall we would highly recommend thus place. By the way, our table had a nice view of the lake. read more

This was really a one star experience at the most. This restaurant is NOT fine dining in any way. At least it certainly wasn't last night. It's a bar with a great patio outdoors if you like noisy bar food and live entertainment. Prior to arriving we had heard much good about the restaurant so decided to give it a try. The items on the menu sounded good, reality was very different. Starting with ambience, they were overwhelmed with events so we had a large ugly cold bare room basically to ourselves. All the furniture has been removed for elsewhere. We asked to be seated somewhere different, we were told minimum half hour wait. So we stayed after our server promised us an excellent experience - our first mistake. Felt like we were in someone's timeout corner. $45 for New York Steak seems like a lot. Up there with Capital Grille pricing and it certainly isn't even close. Don't know how they cooked it, mine was overdone not medium and cool to cold. The recipe itself sounded appealing, the end result uninspired it best. I brought that to attention of our server who gave us no options other than "eat it". They couldn't warm it up without cooking it even more. replacing it was never an option. And $3 extra for bread, who are they kidding? The arugula salad was good enough, BUT had to ask three times for a second plate so we could share. By that time I had already spilled some on my shirt and frankly didn't care about the plate anymore. The "check in" reward was not available either. There was no management presence whatsoever! We found someone to speak with on the way out who offered us a glass of wine, are they kidding? To his defense he did waive the corkage fee. But only after I asked. I suppose you could have a good time if you want to sit outside, enjoy bar food and don't mind lots of noise. Other than that, in our opinion a complete miss and a very expensive one at that. $93 for an awful dinner before tip, no drinks and no dessert = a complete total rip off. read more

We'd waited a while to try Pisces Rising due to the mixed reviews. Last night we finally decided to give them a shot and seated ourselves on the back deck. The deck itself looked to be in need of renovation. It looked like they'd added some granite but the wooden beams, tables and chairs were very worn. The umbrellas were all cinched up and the view of the lake was obstructed by them as well as power lines and buildings. Still, you can see a small sliver of the lake and there was a nice breeze. Service was above average. Our server admitted that she wasn't too familiar with the menu as it had just changed days before. She did have a couple recommendations which we took into account. First, on a Sunday early evening there were no happy hour specials- too bad. We had some glasses of wine and chose a sampling of dishes to share. We started off the the spinach salad ($12) which came with goat cheese, berries and almonds. My first impression of it was that it looked like something I would make at home. Once we moved past the top layer of spinach we could see the bottom bits were soggy and wilted. Not wanting to be "that guy" but also not wanting a nasty $12 salad we sent it back. Not going well so far! Next came the hot apps. We tried the calamari which was cooked well and served with a marinara dipping sauce. There wasn't really anything special about it so I probably wouldn't order it again. We also tried a tamale which had a good flavor but was very small. The pork was tender and had a good flavor but there wasn't more than a couple of bites of the thing. The stand out of the meal was the entree of pork and scallops. Although again the portion was modest the pork was cooked to perfection and could be cut like butter. The scallops were large and also seasoned and cooked perfectly. Over the dish was a peach sauce with slices of peaces with cinnamon- it was delicious! We could have eaten another one of these as their were only 3 scallops and 4 bits of pork. Finally for dessert we ordered the creme brulee (free thanks to the Yelp check in offer) and bananas foster. Unfortunately they were not able to do the bananas foster table-side on the back deck due to the wind. The creme brulee was white chocolate and key lime flavored. It was very good with the warm crisp sugared crust atop cool smooth custard. The bananas foster was must less impressive, I wouldn't order it again. It was basically four scoops of vanilla ice cream with too few slices of bananas and sauce. Bananas are cheap, give more with this dessert! If it hadn't been for the phenomenal pork and scallop entree Pisces Rising would have barely earned a 3/5 star. However, our server did a good job, although I think a manager should have come to speak to us about the salad. The apps were mediocre and I'd skip the bananas foster next time and try one of the other made-in-house desserts. The inside dining room appeared to be much more formal than the back deck. Out back you could get away with shorts, inside you'd better dress up a little more. Unfortunately they allow smoking on the deck which non-smokers have to tolerate if you want to enjoy a nice evening outside. Overall a good, but pricey, experience. read more

2022-01-18 We frequently visit Mt. Dora and we're always looking for reasonably priced (great value) good food. Pisces Rising was anything but that! $8 for less than a cup of soup (soup of the day) and $14 for a poor quality (ingredients) Chicken Cashew salad. Add on top of the over priced food a waitress who seemed to snub their nose because we didn't order more (two soups of the day, a Chicken Cashew salad, and two drinks. ($38.52). Needless to say, this restaurant will never again see my patronage or get my money. They can feed the elites, as they appear to be quite happy doing that. read more

I come to PIsces Rising every time I am visiting and usually come twice during my stay. I like that there's a huge outdoor patio and they allow well behaved dogs. I had no idea Mount Dora was this cozy and cute! The patio bar is a great place to chill and get some drink because it has a gorgeous view of the Dora Canal. There is live music as well but it started raining on the night that we went. The seafood dishes we ordered for dinner were great. The grouper and snapped were very fresh, had wonderful texture and perfect mild flavor. The combination of fried onions, grapefruit, peaches, and white beans really brought out the flavor of my grouper and come on, who would think peaches and grapefruit would pair so wonderfully with grouper? If that's a thing, I didn't know about it! Would love to go back again and enjoy some live music! read more
