Went here a few months before the pandemic. Came back to my childhood neighborhood to see a candlelight concert at my old grammar school church. Decided to try this restaurant after some of my former classmates told me about it. Had a wonderful meal. Had a reservation and we were seated promptly. The server was very attentive and explained the specials well. Had the eggplant and the fettuccine with mushrooms. Both were excellent. The eggplant was one of the best I've had. Perfectly baked and cheesy. The eggplant itself was firm and not overcooked. My daughter had the spaghetti with prosciutto. She gave me a taste and I almost wanted to take it from her! Well actually I did but she fought me off. It was superb! My wife had the ravioli and enjoyed it very much. We shared the tiramisu which was a nice way to finish an excellent meal. The place is cozy. My first time at Pisticci and it lived up to the recommendation I got from around the corner. I was welcomed by an awesome hip hostess who offered me a spot at the bar. It was daylight savings time and I got there at 5 when I guess everyone else got the message. Such a great experience! I tried this place with my friend for first time, and we left very satisfied. In terms of space, food, drink, and service, it was excellent on all accounts. The space is fantastic. It's much bigger than it looks from the outside, and is quite spacious. You can tell that in designing the space, they prioritized comfort over just squeezing in as many tables as possible, which was very appreciated. The food was delicious. I had the maltagliati with ricotta, spinach, and lamb, and my friend had the fettucini al funghi-- so delicious, and it was a perfect amount. Also, the rosemary-infused olive oil was done RIGHT. Drinks were perfect. I have to shout out our waiter, Nick, because he was so patient and helpful with me as I was unfamiliar with the red wines on the menu. He walked through the wines with me, and then helped me pick the right one to pair it with my meal. He had a hunch as to which one I might like best, but had me try 3 different kinds anyways (spoiler: his pick ended up being my pick!). Oh. My. God. I am writing this review right after finishing my tiramisu. Disclaimer: the 5 stars is reactionary to this tiramisu. It's so good. The cream filling is a perfect contrast to the fluffy cake bread (i dont even know what the official cake terms are but I eat a lot of tiramisu and this one is bomb). I had the lamb ragu which honestly was okay? I guess it's the most popular rated dish here, so maybe it's just me, but I thought the sauce was a bit watery for what I was expecting, and it did smell a little gamey. Maybe it was just today or my expectations for lamb ragu were different. But still good. The meat texture was perfect. The winner was the fettuccini with mushrooms. This dish is absolute perfection. Went with the Early Bird time slot. Restaurant did not open until 5 and people were already waiting when we arrived at 4:50pm. The place was packed with people coming and going the whole time we were there. A casual warm atmosphere greeted diners. I honesty think everyone who works there loves it! Happy smiling staff, it was the best. Restaurant bigger than it seems from the outside. Our waiter went through the menu and brought the drinks promptly. The appetizer special was wonderful. Stuffed figs with goat cheese, artichoke hearts, melon served on a bed of arugula with a lemon dressing and some balsamic. Main dish one, Meatballs cooked in a flavorful tomato sauce served over polenta cakes with melted cheese. Dish two, grilled salmon with roasted tomatoes, broccoli rabe and rosemary potatoes. Easily one of my favorite restaurants around campus. I've been here several times for different occasions and it never fails to be yummy. My favorite dishes here are the pisticci salad which tasted surprisingly like Chinese sweet and sour pork ribs, spaghetti and meatballs which has great tomato sauces, and roasted eggplant. The ambiance of th whole place is nice, great for a romantic date. The service is decent as well. I really had to pause before I wrote this review. I've been here twice over the course of the year and I've always wanted to like this place. The first was for a private event where the food was pre-selected. We ordered all the appetizers except the mussels and the house white wine. Honestly pretty standard. Nothing great, nothing terrible. Onto the main...I was torn between the fettuccine and the risotto. I ended up ordering the risotto with clams and scallops (it is not on the regular menu and was a special). I love risotto. It was terrible. I won't go into detail; all I will say is that I made risotto at home this weekend to redeem my palate of having eaten a risotto gone terribly wrong. read more

Honestly overrated... might be coz I am Italian, but the food was absolutely nothing special. I got a pasta with zucchini and the veggies were boiled, resulting actually in a very watery sauce. Wine was pricey and the quality was that of a cheap bottle you can buy at the supermarket. My friend who got the lamb ragù was very excited about it, so maybe it really depends on the dish. The service though was very weird. We had 3 different waiters in a 2 hours period, and they kept on looking at us... felt like they wanted us to leave.
