My go to place if no one can decide on what to eat. This place has a little of everything, some Greek, some Mexican, some American, and some of the in betweens. I've been coming here for 4 years and haven't even put a dent in the menu! All their burgers are delicious and I usually go for the sandwiches which are just as good! They have great dinner specials which change every now and then but remain at super low prices. Huge side portions, I could get full just from the Fries being my side! This place is awesome.... everything tastes great and they try hard to keep it affordable. I've been coming here for years. I recently ordered from here on door dash and received a banana split I ordered but it was missing the banana. I thought it was funny and probably a FNG mistake so I called to joke about it. It turns out they were out of bananas and instead of just removing the item from my order which would've been far more disappointing than just no banana they gave me the banana split w/o banana for free. I went to Pit Stop while for a quick business meeting. I have delivered from Pit Stop before for my work and it was hit and miss with the service so I was already getting some pretty sketchy vibes upon walking in but I wanted to try it out. We walked in on a Friday afternoon at 1:30 PM to where it was not packed at all and very easy to find a spot and order. The restaurant itself was extremely clean and very well kept with tons of natural light and no noise. I ended up ordering a pastrami sandwich with a side of fries which was amazing. The only complaint I have was the level of grease on the sandwich and how unbelievably hot the food was. It came out on on the same temperature the grill was to cook the meat. Other than that, the food is decently priced, they have a huge menu, and Pit Stop dinner itself is a good place to eat. read more

Been here a few times throughout the years. Nice classic hot rod design. I honestly thought it was an auto mechanic joint the first time I laid eyes on the spot years back. My wife and I are in town for the weekend, just flew in, and were hoping to grab something for dinner. We noticed a bunch of nearby places were either closed or about to be. When we arrived to conclusion on Pit Stop, it was 9pm and they closed at 10. Our arrival was 9:15 and we noticed the establishment looked empty but still open. I ordered a Club Sandwich and my wife a ham and cheese because we didn't want to have the kitchen do too much, as we've both been in similar situations in the hospitality field. We heard their phone ring and also some groans from the staff. As we sat down to wait for our meal, it looked as if the staff detested the fact that we were there. When our meal was ready, it was brought out in to-go containers, without even being asked if we wanted to dine in or not. We proceeded to go back to our hotel room and eat. Great food, minus the fries, but would recommend. Not sure if we'll go back though. A shame really because we really looked forward to checking this place out. People do eat late but don't take it out on them because you don't want to stay a little bit after you close. read more

What happened to that place? From having good food for a great price to terrible food for a high price! Over the years from the first owner to the latest one one this place went from great to bad. The food is terrible compared to what it used to be, the service sucks and the prices are too high for what you get. Customers are not going there as they used to. Tables are empty with left overs sitting there, nobody cares about. The staff has the "I don't care attitude" and you have to check if they really handed you the order you placed. They don't care about nothing and I can see that this place shuts down shortly What a shame for this Oceanside location. read more

This place used to be my favorite burger spot in town. Used to be. It's been a couple years since I've last came here, and man the food has changed for the worse. Ordered a double cheeseburger combo, and I immediately noticed some differences. Despite the picture showing it on the menu, the burger doesn't come with a slice of red onion anymore, instead, you get only a couple chopped white onions with no flavor. I used to always love their fries as well. They had this great seasoning on it that was super, super tasty. Not any more. Soggy, and absolutely no seasoning. Waste of money. Last thing is nitpicking, but it shows that the owners are trying to cut costs everywhere they can (which shows). They have all this cool, old coke memorabilia, but they serve Pepsi now! If you're going to keep this diner feel with the coke stuff everywhere, at least pay a little more to get the real drinks. read more

We dined in about three weeks ago and it was our first time giving it a go. Wasn't too busy but the food took FOREVER to come out and wasn't as good as Money Pit. Not as good flavor in burgers and fries were limp. Not sure if they're partners or not but I expected it to be as good as money put & in our opinion (husbands and mine) it didn't meet our expectations. We moved from Escondido/San Marcos area to vista/Oceanside which is why we decided to go to this one... next time we'll just make the drive to money pit! It is such a cozy and unique place to sit and dine with the family. It is big enough to social distance. And the food was out fast. And it's in great location. The vibe inside is so chill. While I enjoy their classic, divey atmosphere, the food is disappointing.. -French Toast tasted like oil. -Fish in the fish and chips was pre-breaded, processed from a bag, tasted terrible. -Fries are not fresh, and they're always too dry. The only things they do well here are a few of the items they fry up fresh. Onion rings, fried mushrooms and zucchini fries are all corn meal breaded and tasty. But one cannot live on fried foods alone. Last visit, they screwed up my wife's order. She ask for a club sandwich and instead received some thin, pitiful melt. I complained about my nasty fish, and nothing was said nor done about it. Too many corners are being cut here using cheap food and lazy cooking. And service isn't what it should be. Hiba was very accommodating when we arrived at the restaurant. She gave us nice options on different food items that were popular and her favorites and prices to see what would fit best for us. The place is awesome to look at, the inside is a nice retro to the name of the restaurant ! Very interesting to see everything. I think the cowboy burger was good and the avocado burger (my boyfriend got this) very flavorful and definitely fit the budget for the quality. Would go again to try something new! read more

Well we really wanted to like this place, but I think the food was just okay. I will have to say that the Pastrami sandwich I had was pretty good though. The pastrami was crispy and the bun was not soggy. Although I have only eaten here one time, the pastrami sandwich is a safe bet. Now on to the rest of the food... Hubby got the bacon avocado cheese burger with fries and then a side of onion rings. Hubby's burger was subpar, at best, due to just the sheer fact that the meat on the burger looked sad. It was small (couldn't even have been a 1/4 lb), so if you get a burger here you will want to double or triple the burger meat. What I will say is the avocado seemed fresh and there was a good amount of it on the burger. The onion rings were just okay. They didn't have the color of a normal onion ring, meaning they were not golden in color. The flavor was just okay. NOTE: They have pepsi products, so if Coke products are your thing you will be disappointed. We may, and I say may just because hubby might veto the idea given his last food experience, try this place again (given the high ratings) but it won't be for a while. I am giving pitstop diner five stars because not only is there food good and their service wonderful but I have recently found out that I can leave a tip on my card if I mention to the cashier how much I want to leave. This was a concern of mine in the past but the owner got back in touch with me and let me know that I am more than welcome to add a tip on to the sales of my food and the employees will get the added gratuity at that moment!. I was too generous with my last review of a 2 star for this establishment. I can't even call them a business. As a business owner I take pride in my business and bond with my clientele. I want my customers to be happy content and make referrals to friends and family. I won't be saying the same for the people who own this establishment. Honestly they have no business being in business. Their lack of care and concern and their quick meaningless excuses are a waste if time. If they had care for their business and customers they would actually DO something about the countless poor reviews. During the nations pandemic it's been a priority of ours to support local businesses. However you are not doing yourself any favors by supporting Pit Stop. The delivery services are great in doing their jobs. When you order delivery do NOT order from Pit Stop. There are many other local business you can support that offer better service and quality. We ordered food for delivery food was delivered incomplete and cold and inedible. Contacted delivery service to report as well as BBB and health department. When customers post reviews and it's meant to be a forewarning to other consumers I suggest taking it a step further especially when it's unacceptable. Call the health department and report it to BBB. If enough of us do this the establishment will be held accountable and be forced to do something about it or get shut down read more

I love coming here! They decorated the inside with old school car parts, license plate covered walls, street signs and they even have a classic Cadillac parked inside. Came in around 8:30 for dinner with the wifey. No line, just a few customers at the time. They've got a wide variety of breakfast and lunch items available all day at really good prices! Tonight I ordered the BLT with avocado and upgraded to a combo to add french fries and a drink to my meal. It's was really good! Toasted bread with crispy bacon, lettuce and a whole sliced avocado. Pit Stop is a pretty decent, inexpensive place for a quick bite to eat. I work just down the highway and have made several trips to Pit Stop for our office since most of their food comes in large portions, perfect for sharing. Two people can easily split a wrap and a (huge) "side" of fries, onion rings, fried zucchini or mushrooms, or a mix of it all. Be warned - they're heavy on the grease! Their prices have recently increased. For at least the past few years burgers used to be $3 or $4, salads around $5, wraps about the same. I recently went in for a BLT wrap (which was super salty, I wouldn't order it again) and it cost me nearly $8 - I was caught off guard and made sure to grab their updated menu for future ordering. The decor inside is reminiscent of the diner in Grease. Quirky, 50s-style with a classic car parked in the dining room - I'm always half expecting Frenchie to come out singing while I wait for my food. If you're looking for a quick and casual meal off the 76, it's worth making a pit stop into Pit Stop. Nothing fancy to write home about, but there aren't a whole lot of other great options in the area anyway. read more

I have to update my review because the place has gone so far down hill. Fish tacos were the worst fish tacos I've ever had. Fish was obviously sitting out and super hard thought I was going to break a tooth. Plain, sauce was undiscoverable. Refried beans on the cold side. Crusty spots, also like they had been sitting out. Onion rings cold and tasteless, bad. Fries used to have a cajun seasoning. I guess they must have cut that cost while they were raising the price of everything on the menu. This is a interesting diner to visit if you're a classic car enthusiast. This restaurant is decorated in 50's theme with car license plates, street signs even with a classic car on display inside. I felt as I went back to the 50's just dinning here having a cheese hamburger, onion rings and a Oreo milkshake. The hamburger's tomato was so fresh the juice was squeezing out as I ate. Eat all your food over the plate it can get juicy when I didn't do that and the juice leaked on my shorts and on my arms. This is not a sit down restaurant more like a fast food place you order at the cashier and they bring you your food. Be sure to show your reciept to the server when sometimes they don't bring your full order to you to confirm your food order.
