Note: Review is for Chicken Souvlaki. Although it wasn't bad, it's probably best to order the more ME dishes here. This location of Pita & Grill is tucked away in an old part of Cooksville, near where the now torn-down Central Library used to be. It's easier to access the lot if you're traveling Eastbound on Dundas. Otherwise, it can be quite hectic to get in. Small plaza also has a Tim Horton's, so it can get busy! Menu comprises of Breakfast meals, Burgers, Greek-inspired Souvlaki plates, & Middle Eastern (kabob, shawarma, falafel) sandwiches/plates. Prices seem a bit cheaper than other competitors. Chicken Souvlaki Dinner was enough for 2ppl! There were 2 large pieces of potato. And both the flavours in the potato/biryani rice was more subtle, not as authentic/strong as an actual Greek place. However, I will say that the Dinner was freshly prepared as there was a bit of a wait. Whereas shawarma/other wraps were prepared right away! Overall, it wasn't a bad option and it's nearby. As per sign, this place is open on Holidays. I'd come back and try the other Middle Eastern dishes. CASH/DEBIT ONLY.

Cold tasteless fries. This is suppose to be a large order of fries. Don't order...don't waste your money.

I placed a delivery order from this location and what a huge disappointment! I've been going to the Eglinton and Dixie location for 18 years and expected that the high quality of standards would be the same at this place, but that is no where need the case. The Rock and Rice was cold. I had to warm it up upon delivery. Also it wasn't spicy as I requested. I asked for extra sauce but i don't expect it to be soupy. The order of fries was small and cold and didn't fill the container. For that price, and from past experiences going into the restaurant to bring home delivery, it would be hot and filled to the brim. The only saving grace is that my husband was satisfied with his chicken shawarma wrap. It seems that if you want hot tasty food, you need to go to the original Pita and Grill on Eglinton and Dixie.

On the outside pita and grill looks like a sketchy place to say the least. Looks however, can be deceiving. Pita and Grill is nicely decorated with a vast amount of seating for all patrons on the inside. Quite often there is a huge line but the employees move quickly and have you in and out in no time. Today I ordered a chicken shawarma with fries and extra garlic sauce. The shawarma is fresh and delicious. They really slather on the garlic sauce and I absolutely love it (luckily my boyfriend had it to so garlic breath for both of us). The fries were crispy and hot !! I always order extra garlic sauce to dip my fries in with the ketchup on the table. The food is really well priced in my opinion and everything is halal. With fries for both of us and 2 chicken shawarmas it came up to $20. The employees are also super friendly and helpful! I love this place and it is definitely somewhere you should try if you haven't before!

May not look like much but I thoroughly enjoyed my chicken shawarma dinner... Also came with a pita mmmmmm

My numero uno shawarma joint people!! This place is the bomb dot com. They just do everything right... From their homemade pita's to their delicious fresh salads...you just can't go wrong. I can't get enough of their garlic sauce. Mind you it's extremely garlicky and you'll need a 1/2 a bottle of listerine after your meal but it's ohhhhh so worth it. Their meat (chicken/lamb) is bursting with flavour and yummy spices....Not fatty or dry like other shawarma places. And their basmati rice is an upgrade from other places as well. It's spiced to perfection and fragrant. I can't get enough of this place. They also serve breakfast ... Shawarma + eggs anyone?? I sometimes wanna buy the garlic sauce and eat it with a spoon. It's THAT good! Don't judge. Note: Some may think that this "pita & grill" is the same chain as the one at tomken and eglinton ... But it's not. They are both very good shawarma joints but this one on confederation is better in my opinion.

Pretty sure this is the type of meat that they use for the beef shawarma

NOTE: This review is only for the (so-called) beef shawarma at the CONFEDERATION PARKWAY location in Mississauga (February 1, 2015). After having one the best shawarmas at Tarboosh a couple of weeks ago, my husband and I decided to pop and grab a couple more for dinner last night. Unfortunately, Tarboosh was closed so we decided to try Pita & Grill (given the excellent Yelp ratings). We should have probably ran for the hills when we didn't see the shawarma on the spit but rather in the back being brought out on a tray. Anyway, let me get straight to the point. Pros: with the exception of them dissing Tarboosh, the service was relatively friendly. It was clean and it had many menu options; hence the reason I'd likely try something else. Cons: the shawarma was actually pseudo shawarma. They used a teensy bit of pre-cooked, sliced steak or beef such as Steak-EZE® (see pic) and likely just microwaved it to make it warm - absolutely no taste. The sauces that I guess were supposed to be tahini and/or garlic were actually some type of mayonnaise and there was very little turnip and pickles (which must have been marinated in tons of salt) and there was no hummus or hot sauce - it was bad. It was something I could have made at home myself by purchasing the Steak-EZE®. Mine would have been better because I would have bought the proper condiments from the Middle Eastern grocery. I know I'm like the lone wolf here with the bad review but just read the "Not Recommended Reviews" as they are consistent with my review. I honestly think that Yelpers are giving the shawarmas good ratings because they are mistaking it for Tarboosh or another Pita & Grill location because, as I mentioned, this was bad. I'm by no means an authority but I've had a lot of shawarma over the years and this was right up there with the WORST. Rating: TWO STARS because it appeared to be clean and the service was pleasant.

This is a really good shawarma place. I didn't really have high expectations given the location but I was pleasantly surprised. I ate here many times and the food and service are pretty consistent. I usually get the shawarma wrap or shawarma salad. I've never tried their beef or lamb dishes, so I can't comment on that. One word of warning: their garlic sauce is deadly and you WILL "remember" it the next day.

It's my favourite shawarma place in Mississauga. The chicken is the best because they make it on the shish unlike the lamb which they grill. Very generous portion of meat, if you ask for anything you'll be served well. I believe the pickles is a bit salty, and the chicken is over cooked that became dry in some times. My toppings for the chicken are garlic mayo, pickles, fries inside and over pressed. Their rice is amazing with aromatic spices. It's the best in town and different from other pita & grill places.

Really amazing shawarma - love the fact that they fill it up and it taste great - always enjoy eating here. The place is also very clean and tidy.

When we had first walked-in, we were surprised to see how small the restaurant was. However, we then noticed that most of the guests were doing take-out as opposed to dine-in. We were able to find a table for four, which was perfect for us. When we walked-up to the front counter to place our order, we were greeted by a kind hostess, whom took our orders without any issue. We then sat down, and watched as our orders were being prepared. We had to wait about fifteen minutes for all of our meals to be ready. We were surprised to see that the margarita pizza had olives on it, despite not seeing it on the menu. However, we just scooped them off since my children didn't want to eat the olives. For the falafel and kabab wraps, we were surprised to see how large they were, and for only $10.00! The kabab wrap (which I had asked for without onions), had two large pieces of kabab, which filled the wrap, along with the sumac and tomatoes. I enjoyed how tasty the wrap tasted, along with how filling it was. My mother also commented on how delicious the falafel tasted. Considering the prices that we had paid, we certainly go our money's worth! The service was also excellent, as we were brought our wraps directly to our table, while the pizza was placed on the table near to our table. Everyone was kind and considerate, making our stay a pleasant one. There were so many menu items to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down. Will definitely be back to try other items the next time around!

It was decorated beautifully, with chic artwork and beautiful music playing on the speaker. We had made reservations in advance however, we then realized that reservations weren't necessary, as the restaurant only had guests at 2-3 tables at that time. We were greeted by a server, whom then brought us to the table that was reserved for us. Upon first being seated, we noticed that this particular server wasn't too friendly; she would complete her duties as required however, she seemed bothered, and didn't seem to be enthused to be serving us. Nonetheless, after placing our orders, we then waited patiently for the food to arrive. We had first settled on the calamari fritti, which were, too overcooked. They were much more crunchier than they should have been, tasting only somewhat more appetizing when dipped in the accompanying sauce. For our main dishes, I had settled on the veal masala with a mushroom sauce, with a side of vegetables and one potato (which I found a bit odd). The veal was tender, however, there was hardly any of it, along with the potatoes, which consisted of, only one potato. The vegetables were plentiful though, which was what filled me up. My mother had settled on the chicken, which one again, had one potato, and too much cream sauce. The pasta that my daughter ordered had a lot of meat in the sauce however, the meat was salty, and the pasta didn't have enough salt on it. Considering the price that we had paid, we were expecting a better array of food alas, we were disappointed. We even asked if complimentary bread was given, with the waitress looking confused. Overall, this restaurant had a great vibe to it however, we didn't find the server to be inviting, along with the food, which wasn't too appetizing. We wouldn't come back to this restaurant, and would reconsider our options for the next time.

It's not really a trendy place, with the decor and the menu that could easy fit into 2005 seamlessly - but that's not a bad thing. When we came, they had an anniversary special for $39 which came with an appetizer, a main and a dessert. Both my wife and I opted for it. For appetizers, we chose: a beet salad and a crab cake. For entrees, my wife went with arctic char with roasted potato and veggies. I went with butternut squash ravioli. And for dessert we both got creme brulee. The quality of the ingredients and the food preparation really stood out. My wife absolutely loved her fish and said it was the best she's had in awhile. The sauce from my ravioli was so good that I took the remainder home. We were very happy with the service throughout. It all comes down to execution. If you were to read the menu, it looks pleasant enough, but it might not jump out you either. But I can say that if they're consistent, you will really enjoy your meal and probably have your expectations exceeded.

Please take my review into consideration knowing that I haven't been there in at least 15 years…read more That said, I feel like I owe this restaurant a review because it was such a big part of my life and holds so many wonderful memories for me. When I moved to Canada in 1995, this restaurant was within walking distance of my sister's apartment, so we ate there all the time. Back then, if I remember correctly, they had a buffet for around $15 per person, and it was an incredible value. The food was always fresh, delicious, and plentiful. This restaurant became part of many chapters of my life. When I got married, I brought my husband and his family there because I wanted them to experience the food I loved so much. Later, when I had my children, it became one of the places we would visit whenever we were in Mississauga. At one point, we even lived in Mississauga for about a year and a half, and if we couldn't make it to the restaurant, we would order takeout instead. The amazing thing was that the food was just as delicious at home as it was in the restaurant. The restaurant itself wasn't huge or fancy. It was simple, comfortable, and focused on what mattered most--the food. The staff were always welcoming, and everything seemed to run smoothly. To this day, the lentil soup and the kibbeh are stuck in my head. I honestly think they were some of the best I've ever had in my life. Sadly, I can't enjoy the kibbeh anymore because I have celiac disease and have to avoid gluten, but those flavors are still some of my favorite food memories. I also remember that the mother of the family was involved in the cooking. Whether she is still there, retired, or if the ownership has changed, I honestly don't know. Because it has been so many years since my last visit, I can't speak to how the restaurant is today. What I can say is that the memories I have of this place are wonderful. The food was excellent, the service was great, and it became one of those special restaurants that stayed with me throughout the years. The next time I'm in Mississauga, I plan to stop by and see if the food is still as amazing as I remember. If it is, I know I'll be leaving with a huge smile and a full heart.

Tarboosh Restaurant wasn't on my radar at all, but after Suresh Doss gave it a hearty…read morerecommendation, we figured we should stop by and check it out. We arrived around noon on a recent Saturday and the place was completely empty. A group of four fairly loud men showed up shortly after us and inexplicably sat at a table near us, but that's obviously not the restaurant's fault. The menu contained plenty of tasty-looking entrees, but I figured I'd grab the dish with the name of the restaurant in it: the Tarboosh ("Combination of shawarma and falafel"). The concoction arrived to the table quite a while later, which was weird considering how empty the joint was, and sure looked impressive. I dove right in. Everything on the plate was tasty but not mind-blowing. The chicken shawarma had a few crispy pieces, which was appreciated, but was mostly unreasonably dry. (The two included sauces helped with that, at least.) The falafel was fresh but strangely light. It didn't really have a strong flavor of anything, really. I enjoyed eating it, but it definitely didn't remind me of traditional falafel. The hummus was creamy but lacking in a strong chickpea flavor (i.e. the concoction was overwhelmed by tahini, essentially). However, once I began eating everything together, I began enjoying everything a lot more. The included bread help, too, even though it was far from the best middle-eastern bread I've ever had. Tarboosh is a mixed bag, that's for sure. If you're in the area, it's worth a try. I don't think I would travel to far to check it out, though.
