We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and appreciated being able to bring our pup along. My mom and I came here for brunch, and unfortunately we left pretty disappointed. When we arrived, the host didn't greet us at all--not even a simple "hello." It was a weekend, so it was a little busy, but nothing too crazy, and we were the only walk-ins. We were seated in the bar area, and our server was very kind and friendly. The only downside was that she only checked on us once during our meal. The best part of brunch was definitely the sangria--it was delicious! Unfortunately, both my mom's food and mine came out extremely cold. The ambiance and decor are really nice, but the food didn't match the atmosphere at all. I met up with a few friends to celebrate, and from the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the inviting entrance and spacious, open atmosphere. We visited on a Tuesday around 10:30 a.m., and one of my favorite things about SHU is that they serve both their brunch and lunch menus all day. Being able to order anything at any time is a huge plus. For drinks, I ordered the Sol Rising, which was perfectly balanced--not too sweet and incredibly refreshing. One thing that really stood out was their huge drink menu, unlike anything else I've seen at a brunch spot, with plenty of creative options to choose from. We also shared the Charcuterie Brunch Board, which was a standout. I especially loved the homemade cottage cheese topped with a touch of spicy honey. The berry preserves were a little runny, but the flavor was fantastic and paired beautifully with the pita bread. We also ordered the Sunny Hyde Open Omelette, which was a fun and unique take on a traditional omelette. Also enjoyed the Smoked Salmon Bagel and the Chicken & Waffles. To drink, we also had the Wake Up Call, which was the perfect twist on a cold coffee cocktail without being another espresso martini. This place is very nice I am from Las Vegas so it definitely gives that vibe of a fun brunch, we came yesterday December 20th, 2025 and had reservations for 11:15am we arrived at 11:04am and checked in with the host the place was packed so we waited outside when some space inside finally opened up we took a seat we seen allot of guest walk in and didn't have reservations and were told a wait time many walked out, the hosts seemed a little overwhelmed and lost when it came to seating the guests we didn't get seated until closed to 11:30, they sat us next a door that was operable that guests could walk in and out of, imagine eating an people are are just walking in and out of a side door next to your table. We sat at the table for about 10 mins before a server came to us, I believe her name was Victoria she took our order and asked if we were ready to order food but we were not another few mins passes and received our drinks we ordered the Christmas tree of mimosas and it was $45 and they were good. She came back again and took our order, upon watching the dining room I could see they were very busy sections seemed a little large for the severs considering allot of them were not checking in on their tables. Everyone else got their food before me I ordered the chicken and waffles and received mine last significantly so past that everyone at the table was halfway through their food I had two different food runners tell me sorry yours should be coming soon, I have no problem waiting for something if you tell me that the item I'm ordering has a little more of a drag time but nobody did. The server never came around again until it was time to pay, we sat for awhile before she came by and we had to ask for the check and that took a while to bring as well, a manger or owner was walking around talking to some but not all tables and let's just say mine definitely wasn't one that was touched. The check was finally dropped and again we waited for her to pick it up, then another girl came and dropped the check off, as we were signing the check the server finally came back over and said thanks for coming by then it was too late you were barley talking with us engaging with us it was a very transactional experience. As someone who has managed many restaurants on the strip maybe my expectations were too high but interacting with your table isn't too much to ask for. Seems like they need smaller sections and updating resy on their turn times for reservations so it's not so overwhelming , the food is good and that's why this place is packed but the service is not good and with me the food can be outstanding but if the service is not then that creates a bad experience for me. read more

Opened in summer of 2025, Sunny Hyde Up is a great brunch/lunch spot. It's been open for a few months and it's still a little rough on operations. The interior is pretty nice and appealing for a local brunch. It has a pretty large dining room with quite a bit of space. We went in on a Friday morning and service was a little slow but there weren't many servers working at the time. Our server was very lovely. There was a bit of delay with service but it wasn't too long. The food was very delicious. The French toast was so delicious. The filling was rich and could have been great with a little less. The churros were crunchy and perfectly dusted is cinnamon sugar. The chilaquiles were cooked very nicely and the beef machaca had such a flavorful broth that was paired nicely with the pickled onions. I had the loaded breakfast burrito w/ chorizo, the picture is half the burrito, I was only able to eat half before getting stuffed, it was delicious! I had the left over the next morning & it was just as good. The cinnamon roll we expected to come out before, but it came out after which wasn't that big of a deal, but very delicious, we shared it among 3 of us. I loved it! Christmas Eve day my friend and I decided to try the new brunch place in town. I made reservations the day before on resy. We entered and were greeted right away with a short wait. We were seated in the large room on the west side of the building. A server came by and took our drink order. I ordered a $4.50 decaf coffee. Shortly after, she took our food order. I ordered a breakfast burrito for $18. My friend ordered some a la carte items. Then we waited. Others were seated around us. Waited some more. The restaurant was busy, but had empty tables so not slammed. About 45 minutes in, a couple near us who were seated AFTER us, got their food. I finished my coffee. Our server never told us what the wait was for or why and I couldn't find her so I flagged down another server. I explained people seated after us had their food. He went to find out. Still we waited with no explanation. About 55 minutes after arriving, we received our food. Our original server checked on us a couple of times after that. She did not ask if I wanted a refill or another coffee. I would have liked to have the coffee WITH my food but pay another $4.50? No. The food was okay, but nothing special for the cost. I was really excited to try this place out for months, and man was I disappointed. Upon entering, there is a sign to wait to be seated. The restaurant was somewhat full, with a huge party in the back. We were the only ones at the door at the time and waited a minute or two for someone. He asks if we were waiting long and we said yes. Not a minute later someone finally came to get us seated, which even then took a few minutes. The hostess stated that he was trying to help with the party in the back, but he wasn't serving them. I understand it being busy and helping, but I feel I am just as important as the bigger party. The table was super tiny for even 3 people to share. Another 2-3 minutes pass, and our waitress finally came to take our drink order (the drinks were the main reason I wanted to try the place other than the food). After taking our drinks, water and 2 cocktails, she leaves again tending to other tables who have already been served or finished their food. Maybe it's just me, but I would have assumed she would ask if we were ready to order or needed a few more minutes to look at the menu (we were both ready). By this time more and more people have come into the restaurant and have been seated more quickly than we have. They have also been served their drinks just as quick. She didn't come back until she came to serve our cocktails, but by then it's been 15 minutes and I told her we were just going to have our drinks and leave. The drinks were delicious, I got the hot cocoa and my sister got the eggnog. I am really sad I didn't get to try their food, but it's hard for me to enjoy any food if I start off with a bad experience. On my first visit, we were seated near the bar and weren't given menus right away. Service was very slow and we had to flag down staff multiple times for basics like utensils and water. The meal ended up stretching to two hours. My second visit was smoother, likely because we were seated in the main dining area. Still water was also $8. *Mimosa Flight: trio of pineapple, grapefruit, and orange -- garnished with fresh strawberries, oranges, and blueberries. The pineapple was more champagne-forward, while the other two leaned sweeter with stronger juice flavors. *The Foxtail: standout matcha-based cocktail with a strawberry foam. The foam had a bit of a bubblegum note, but it surprisingly worked with the earthy matcha. *Espresso Martini: served in a short glass instead of the classic martini glass, but the drink itself was great. It had a rich, dark cold brew flavor and was definitely one of the better coffee cocktails I've tried. *Breakfast Bruschetta: three toppings served on crispy English muffins. The avocado spread was creamy with a nice acidic kick. The bruschetta had a strong garlic punch and sweet-tart tomatoes, which worked well together. Unfortunately, the egg was overcooked and lacking in flavor. *Nicoise Salad: nearly inedible. The tuna was over-seasoned with Cajun spices and had a stringy texture. The salad was essentially a pile of croutons, cucumbers, tomatoes, and Parmesan over a couple lettuce leaves. The egg was dry, and the only saving grace was the well-roasted potatoes. The drinks were solid, but the kitchen could benefit from refining flavors and improving the execution of proteins. For a breakfast centric spot, the eggs have been consistently overcooked. Misses-front of house staff seemed too preoccupied and annoyed. We were greeted upon entering but they immediately went back into their conversation. A few minutes later one of the gals apologized saying we'd get seated soon. Sort of bummed with the limited menu options for vegans or people who have dairy or egg allergies. Ordering from the à la carte menu takes all the fun out of a dining experience. No specialty coffees as a huge bummer. I've been here about three times now, the first time it had just opened and the food - nachos con chorizo and chilaquiles de machaca were tasty and fresh, the drink was also good and fun, i think it was called cereal milk. I think the nachos could've done with less cheese sauce because they got soggy super quick, but overall the flavors were good. The second time I went and got a BLT, it was okay, it tasted like burnt garlic and something on it was too strong/ sour. Might have been whatever garlic and cheese was on the bread. The third time i visited i had mixed feelings, I reserved space for 10 guests, I called to try and add two more guests the day before and didn't get a call back, this was my mistake on trying to add so last minute, but despite all this they attempted to originally sit 10 of us in one of their booth nooks, which I think realistically and comfortably sits 8 guests. I felt a bit of attitude from the hosts at the greeting desk, but despite that they were accommodating and helpful. I imagine it was because they were so busy. I also noticed the owner roaming around and looking over at our large group, but not once did he greet us or come over to us try and help the situation. We ended up waiting another maybe 25-30 minutes for a longer table and it was worth all the wait - after this, the service was great and the food came out fast. My one last review was about the tri-tip breakfast, the tri tip was thrown in a bowl in chunks and with chunks of potato and covered in a very very salty salsa verde. There is room for improvement when it comes to plating and presentation with that dish. Serving the tri-tip in strips, crunchy potatoes on the side, with eggs and that salsa on the side or just a bit added over the top of the tri tip, it was salty and barely edible. This is just my honest review from my experiences eating at SHU, the ambience is nice, the interior is pretty, the food is fresh with some dishes having room for improvement. read more

I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant unless you don't mind having hair in your food. We went to try this restaurant out, the service was good and the drinks were also very good. We ate and took home the leftovers. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with potatoes. That night when I reheated the food for my wife. She found two long hairs in the food. And they were imbedded in the crust. I called the next day to let them know what happened and it felt like the manager did not care about what was in the food. So I cannot recommend this place at all. I also wanted to add to this review a day after I posted it. I received a message from possibly the manager or owner of this establishment. With an apology of my experience with the food. The manager states "During your call, our manager apologized and offered several options to make things right, including an invitation to return so we could provide a better experience. While we understand you were not interested in giving us another opportunity, our goal was genuinely to resolve the situation." The manger I spoke to absolutely did not offer any options and never offered an invitation to return or make things right. She simply apologized and said "Thank you for the feedback" multiple times and I also never asked for my money, a reimbursement of any sort. I was polite and was not rude because I genuinely wanted to return to this restaurant, but with hair in your food that would be impossible. I simply called to tell them that there chef/cooks/workers should be wearing hairnets to avoid something like this in the future. Yes I feel like this is a fair review!! read more

For those Visalians that frequently supported the original restaurant, Sunny Hyde Up will feel familiar except a lot brighter with natural light, and an open design that lends to a fun experience. Went here on opening weekend ; so happy we made reservations... this place was busy! This is a great addition for Visalia! Loved the decor it's like 70s meets modern. Even though this place was busy; the service was still pretty good and the staff all was friendly. My husband ordered the whiskey flight... he loved it; especially the green river. The flight came with mini sausages and peppered bacon; awesome touch for the whiskey flight. I ordered the brunch burger ; it was delicious; just very messy hahaha. Had to eat it with a knife and fork ; toppings were falling out when I lifted it up using my hands. My husband ordered the breakfast tacos; made with chorizo and blue corn tortillas. The salsa they give you was fire! We also ordered a waffle to share; it was sweet, cooked perfect and delicious. The butter, I coulda just ate by itself with a spoon, but I'm sure my arteries wouldn't have liked that too much. Parking can be challenging; the whole parking lot isn't paved yet; but once it's done they'll be amble parking spots. Will definitely be back! read more

It's giving .. my go to brunch spot!!!! ..eh em Once they work out the kinks. And for my 1st timers .. for the love of God- please make a reservation if you can. 2 words.. They're New. Food is delicious. B/c they are new there are some bumps in the road when it comes to the cooks. I ordered a steak and it was a little tough, and my friend ordered something with poached eggs and the egg was cooked all the way. I came back another day to order some eggs and 15 min passed and no eggs so... I just cancelled the order. The staff is great. Beautiful and handsome faces. Great personalities.. We went to Sunny Hyde ip last week, we had their chilaquiles and their a la carte waffle, pancake and fruit. Food was delicious, my only suggestion is to ask for the butter in the side if you don't like add-ins, one had crushed nuts I believe (tasted like peanut butter) and the kiddo wasn't too fond of it. Great meal, delicious food, nice staff were very attentive. Ambiance was wonderful, it was great to see the building remodeled. Parking lot under construction so give yourself a couple of extra minutes when arriving for a reservation on a weekend. read more

2.5/5 This review is solely based on our 1st and only experience so far. All in all don't miss your 1pm reservation on Sunday. They close at 230, not 3pm and will not seat you. They did offer the bar (where our party of 4 would be split), but when the tables cleared, shortly after we put an order in for take out, they didn't offer it to us. If you're late they'll claim that its an 1hr-1.5hr wait for walkins, but its because they dont seat anyone after 1pm at a table. We showed up 15mins late, thats on us, but I think this could've been handled a bit more elegantly. Again, we thought they closed at 3pm, not 230 as the hostess had informed us. We saw people being turned away after us as more and more tables cleared. It was clear to us that you can sit at the bar or order take out but not be seated at the table after 1pm. In the end we got our order and left. As a warning, dont miss your reservation and don't waste gas unless you want to order takeout. **If i could I would rate it 2/5 but being late is on us and they need to update their hours.** read more
