At the time of this review (10-17-16) Pita Kitchen recently opened in the Arrowhead part of Glendale in the strip mall with Safeway. This is a casual Mediterranean-Greek Restaurant where you order at the counter, pick up a table number and seat yourself. They have booths , tables and a few outdoor tables. The restaurant was nice and neat looking. Everything looked clean. We shared the Mediterranean Sampler (2 Falafels, 2 Dolmas, Baba Ghanoush, Hummus, Tabouli, Pita Bread) and the Two Meat Plate (Chicken Kabob, Steak Shawarma, Rice, Greek Salad ((humus is an option)), Pita Bread) So we tried quite a bit of the menu..... Very Good overall! Falafels were the crunchy meatball style and were herbed, hummus was creamy with lots of lemon. Pita bread was hot and seemed like fresh made. Chicken Kabob was seasoned and was tender and juicy. Steak Shawarma had nice flavor and was tender. I liked everything except the Baba Ghanoush....it was creamy and I liked the hint of smoke in it but for me it didn't have enough eggplant in it and also was made with too much tahini...but that's my taste and yours may differ. Service was much better than I would expect from this kind of place. The cashier also ran plates to the tables and opened the door for people. We were also checked on a few times. I've been here four times and every time I come in never disappointed with the food. However this time the cashier working the front was a bit impatient. I wasn't even done ordering and she cut me off to tell me the total. Once I finally finished ordering she went to grab my card when I was paying with cash....I'm sorry when do the cashiers start reaching over to grab your debt card when it's still inside your phone wallet. That is why I only gave 4 stars; every-time I come a bring someone with me but this time the device was not as well as I would hope it to be. But to focus on the food, that was delicious just the right amount of spices and ingredients to the food. The chicken shawarma was delicious. My sister had the Chicken kabobs plate and she said it was good; I asked if it was dry she said no. It look juicy and the sauce they use I love. I won't lie it's a bit of a drive but the taste of the food is well worth it and they serve coke products (fountain) which is a huge plus. I don't live in AZ, but last time I visited Glendale I happened upon Pita Kitchen, mainly because it's beside Safeway (Arrowhead). It was a wonderful discovery. I went again today, and the experience was equally amazing. The food is fresh and each item on my schwarma plate was bursting with flavor. There was enough to share and still have some later as a snack! The people were very gracious and friendly, and nothing could have made my experience better I ordered takeout, but the restaurant was very clean and would be nice to eat in. I will make eating at Pita Kitchen a priority each time I am in the area, and spread the word to everyone I know in the Glendale area! read more

Wow, I don't understand how the reviews are so high here. 1) Food quality -- very dense, almost gummy falafel. This often happens when the restaurant uses canned chickpeas instead of dried. I'd be curious to know if that's the case here, or if something else is wrong with their falafel preparation. Hummus tastes of mayo, not tahini. Gross. Salad dressing, purportedly homemade, had a terrible flavor. This is so disappointing to anyone who realizes how easy it is to make a fresh herb vinegarette. I wouldn't know how to make one this bad. Salad -- okay flavor, nothing special. My onions were not dusted with sumac like in the pictures. Someone else mentioned they make their own pita. They do not. The quality of the pita bread itself was better than most places though, I have to give them that. 2) Cashier was not wearing her mask. In conclusion, I threw out my entire $14 plate after a few bites. It was that bad! read more

A simple-looking, nondescript place in a strip mall. I assumed it would be just your average generic, just-ok Greek food. I was wrong, it's really fantastic and well above average. My wife and I loved everything we had. For those who choose a vegetarian diet, they had an excellent roasted eggplant/veggie pita. Most places think a "vegetarian" plate is just the same stuff in all the other plates without the meat, so it was nice to see someone put specific effort into a great veggie meal. Pair it with some jalapeño hummus for a great tasty kick. The hummus and babaganoush are both really great. Service is super friendly, and pretty quick. You order at a counter and they bring it out to you. Unlike most places that serve like that, people still come around and see if you need anything. read more

For fast-casual Med type food, I really can't find a complaint with Pita Kitchen. The dining room is comfortable, service is always welcoming- I really feel at home whether I'm dining in or doing carry-out, the food is well seasoned and well prepared and the prices are right. Food is prepped to order so don't expect fast-food type speeds, but do expect well above average quality. Once in awhile I do shake my head at the cover versions of popular songs on the speakers while I'm dining, which is akin to being stuck in a Grey's Anatomy episode, but that's not keeping me away because the garlic sauce drowns that out anyhow. I've been here several times and tried different things on the menu, but TODAY, wow, I've found the item I will be eating here forever!!!! The Chicken Ka-Bob Plate which comes with two sides. My recommendation is the hummus and the salad. I like my dressing on the side and the plate was served to perfection today. The chicken was slightly charred, and juicy on the inside with magnificent flavors. Literally the BEST I've had in any Mediterranean Pita place, the hummus comes with sliced pita bread which was good too. Also, if you check in on the Yelp, they give you 10 percent of your ticket. Wanted to first say that love supporting the local restaurants here in this plaza. We enjoyed coming to Pita Kitchen for our Mediterranean style cravings and even had a birthday luncheon with friends here. Also loved the delivery service. Great food, normally always fresh and timely. Tonight's experience however was unpleasant. Ordered the chicken kabob and beef plates. Our go to dishes. The food came out after 20 minutes including after other patrons who ordered after us got their food first. Secondly, the beef was borderline warm to cold and chicken was actually raw. My wife who is nursing our newborn thought it tasted funny and I confirmed. The chicken was refrigerator cold. Informed the cashier and the cook(s) heated the items some more and brought it back out. At this point, we lost trust in the quality of the food and didn't want to risk mom or baby getting sick. Very disappointed. What stings is they did not offer an apology for the uncooked kitchen. Stop by over here after taking a test. Not too busy around lunch time. The line was quick. Waitress was friendly and nice. I ordered the chicken shawarma Pita meal without any additional sides. Price was $7.46. I chose the garlic sauce to go on the pita. Overall it tasted pretty good and the chicken was not too dry. I also tried the appetizer, the egg roll dish. Extremely good and better with the tzatziki sauce that comes with it. Also tried the baba ganoush. Really good and tasty dip. Environment is pretty spacious and clean. Restroom was clean as well. We saw an ad for this place and it was near a Safeway my wife and I go to occasionally so we decided to try it out. On our first visit we decided to dine in and we ordered chicken kabobs and some French fries. The person behind the counter said they would have to make the kabobs from scratch and asked if we were willing to wait 15 minutes while they prepared it. Unfortunately, it took longer than that and I asked what was taking so long. They apologized and brought us some complimentary Gyro Egg Rolls. Normally I don't like Gyro meat and I can't stand Feta cheese. I don't really care for egg rolls either but I was starving so I ate them. Surprisingly, I really liked them. They are pretty greasy but also very tasty. An order of these comes with three and I have trouble eating more than one at a time because they are quite large. It came with a cup of tzatziki sauce which I don't use. It ended up taking them 30 minutes to bring us our food but we were pretty happy. The chicken kabobs has good flavor and texture and it came with yellow rice which was so-so (a bit too dry for me), hummus which was pretty good and pita bread. Or also came with some kind of pink/purple sauce which I think had garlic in it. One thing I'd prefer they'd do is to add some vegetables to the dish. If you've ever seen kabobs, it's typically meat with peppers and onions and perhaps some other vegetables. Every month we get coupons for Pita Kitchen in the mail, in the Clipper and Money Mailer. This is how we decided to try this place so be on the lookout for these coupons if you go here so you can save a few bucks. read more
