2017-06-11. Pita Land, Woodbridge. Gyro plate. Gyros: 3 stars; Garlic Potatoes: 2,5 stars; Tabouli: 3 stars.

Pita Land is a franchise chain serving up Middle Eastern fare. It's close by and it's decent, but a little pricey. The decor is a little more modern with clean lines and fixtures like TV menus. The theme is that of a earthy neutral tone, with beige's, green's, and clay red's. The furniture is cafeteria grade, which fosters the quick in/out for a bite turnover every business is hoping for. Other than the Shawarma's, food is cooked to order here which is a plus. You have to wait for it, but at least it's freshly cooked. The menu concept is similar to Chipotle in that you pick your main protein (or vegetarian), then you pick your vessel (wrap, pita, pita bowl, plate, etc.). Meals will come with sides of rice, potato, salad, pickled vegetables depending on what you order. This concept minimizes the menu board and maximizes the number of combinations available. Today, I was looking for a fill of chicken shawarma, and gyros, so we got a dinner plate of each. Each plate comes with Salad, Rice, Potatoes, and Pickled Vegetables. Rice. Comes in white (butter) or yellow (seasoned). I opted for the white. While it was long grain, it was not Basmati (Indian) as I hoped. It wasn't Jasmine (SE Asia) either. The butter flavour was also lacking. On it's own, this was a bit of a disappointment. 2 stars. Tabouli. The best tabouli I've ever had was actually at a friends place. The parsley contained only leaves (no stems) and was not blended in a food processor. There was plenty of bulgur to give it amazing texture, the tomatoes were not soft and mushy, and the onions just slightly on the spicy side. Seasoned with simply EVOO, salt, and lemon juice. Here, the tabouli did contain stems, but other than that, it had all the right ingredients. The stems gave the parsley a much tougher (stringier) texture, but stems seem to be the norm when you eat out, so is the food processor. By comparison, there was a decent balance of ingredients, each making a noticeable contribution to the dish. 3 stars. House Salad. Ordered with the Gyros, this was your typical iceberg lettuce with bits of carrots and purple cabbage for color. it served as part of the base along with the rice, and was not a notable at all. 2 stars. Garlic Potatoes. This was actually an item that was not made to order, rather they were sitting under heated trays. While the potato chunks were fully cooked and the garlic flavour stood out. Unfortunately, the heated dish did nothing to keep the skin crispy. If made fresh, this would be a much better dish... .pity. 2,5 stars. Chicken Shawrama. This was probably the main reason I came here, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was well flavoured and showing only slight signs of drying out as expected from something that is constantly exposed to heat coils. The bigger chunks were moist, tender, and juicy. 4 stars. Gyros. While this is more of a Greek dish rather than a Middle Eastern one, it not to far a stretch and the cooking modus operandus is essentially the same as Shawarma. Processed beef and lamb seasoned with spices, this dish was not bad either. Not as good as their sharwarma, but not bad. 3 stars. Pita Land is essentially your average run of the mill joint for Shawarma. It's nothing fancy, but then again, doesn't boast to be. If I had the time, I'd go eat a proper Greek or Middle Eastern meal, but in a pinch, it'll do A-OK. 3 stars. If you would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

Great place to come for a quick lunch or dinner. The staff is friendly, food is affordable and you can get in and out pretty quick if that's your goal. This place is almost cafeteria style, but the food tastes much fresher and better than normal cafeteria food. On the other hand, some of the main entrees aren't in holding pins. I went big and tried several items, with the main being the chicken shawarma, which few could complain about. It was tasty and they give you a massive amount of food, including a huge pile of rice. I also ordered a small cup of lentil soup, and even though it seemed like it'd been in the holding pin all day was hot and satisfying. I ordered a small hummus too and the guy went in the back and made it from scratch. He was gone for five minutes and I thought he forgot about me. That's good stuff! It's simple, if you like Middle Eastern food you can't go wrong here, particularly if you're in a hurry.

It's a small spot but does have a decent amount of seating. Very casual in style, where you order and pay at the counter before seating yourself, and food is not served to the table so they call out your order for pick up. Menu is easy to follow: you pick a vessel and a protein, as well as your choice of toppings and sauces. You can also choose sides and drinks as well. They also have daily deals. My go-to is the HOLY SHRIMP as a SALAD bowl. I top it with cheese, caramelized onions, crispy onions, cucumber, southeast salsa, and sweet pickled cabbage. Their avocado cream is a must-have sauce and this time, I requested a little bit of their roasted peanut sauce as well. The shrimp will definitely have you saying "HOLY!" because they're so crunchy and flavorful. Not to mention, a really good size! One serving is about 5-6 large pieces of shrimp. The K.F.C. was the first protein I tried and is my second go-to choice. Service is always friendly and in general, the entire process is just so easy and convenient. I've also never had to wait long for my food, which I appreciate!

Two Tuesday nights ago, I had just watched a concert film at Cineplex Cinemas Vaughan. I was heading to my car and needed to grab some dinner. I saw this Jersey Mike's Subs, which was new to me. It made sense to grab a sub and eat it at home. There was lots of parking in this area. I kept my car parked near Cineplex and walked over to this eatery. Once I was inside the store, there were a couple of customers before me. My usual order is the number 9, which is the turkey club sub. I tend to get the regular, which is the medium size out of the three that you can get. I got a friendly woman who was preparing two subs before mine. She asked what I'd like. I said the number 9. I was a bit rusty, as I haven't had anything from Jersey Mike's for a good year. I forgot to say that i wanted my number 9 on rosemary parmesan bread. This woman didn't ask me about the bread and defaulted to making my sub with white bread. It was okay. However, I would have liked to have been prompted. This woman prepared my sub with one of the two subs that the couple in front of me had ordered. It was weird. Wouldn't you want to work on the two subs that the couple had ordered together, and then separate mine? My sub and one of theirs weren't even the same. The male from the couple had to say something at the end when it was time for him to pay. It looked like she was going to charge him with one sub, when he was clearly paying for two. Weird. The woman got back to making my sub. She asked if I wanted it Mike's way, which meant onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, and salt. My usual is Mike's way minus the onions. I said that. Mike's way minus the onions. The woman asked me to repeat it. I did. Her colleague behind her turned around to look at me. I looked right back at her. Are you staring at me because you are quietly judging me on my omitting onions on my sub? I don't see anything wrong with it. Why rudely turn around? You aren't working on my sub. Your colleague is. I remember saying the same thing at the Markham location. I got the you-don't-like-onions comment. Nope, that's not true. I love onion rings and French onion soup. I love thinly sliced raw onions. Don't give me thick-cut raw onions. It's the raw burn that I don't enjoy. I found the staring to be rude. In the past, I'd be uncomfortable. I will not be made to feel bad. I will stare you down until you look away, which is exactly what I did to make the rude woman stop. I've ordered this sub without onions at the Kitchener location countless times. No one has every looked at me funny. I miss that level of customer service and respect. At the checkout, you can enter your phone number associated with your Jersey Mike's rewards account to earn points. I have enough points for a free sub. I didn't use them for this order. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I grabbed my sub and left. I put my sub in my insulated bag. It wasn't a hot sub. Just habit. I'm glad that I did. When I got home, for the first time in my life, a Jersey Mike's sub leaked red wine vinegar and soaked the paper bag. My insulated bag kept my car and me clean. Luckily, I only had to wash out the bag. Still, I shouldn't have had to. My sub was good. It needed my usual rosemary parmesan bread. It was also more soggy than usual. The applewood smoked bacon was excellent, as were the roast beef, turkey, swiss cheese, and mayo. It's hard to say whether this place was heavy-handed with the red wine vinegar or olive oil. I also don't know if it was a wrapping issue. I do know that I had a wet sub bag. It's a three-star review. Let me find another new Jersey Mike's in the greater Toronto area and see if I get more rudeness asking to have the onions omitted in my sub. (399)

We tried these for the first time at the new location... took a while (about 30min) for our food to be ready because of all the orders and they seemed backed up even though they had like 14 people on staff working. I have been to thier location in Mississauga and the experience there was exceptional in every way....But this Hwy 7 location close to 427 hwy was a nightmare and I will never be coming back to this location ever again !!!! FOOD 2/5  let's start with the food prep the middle aged afro-American man making my sandwich was dropping pieces of smoked meat on the counter on the scale then putting it back in my sandwich ..then he only put on one glove yet he was touching my sandwich with his hand that had no glove.  The food was thrown into container so carelessly that the coleslaw container lid was not closed and all the juices spilled out and soaked into my  sandwich bread all wet and soggy. The meat portion was decent but I did not enjoy the sandwich on soggy bread and the coleslaw itself was horrible in taste possibly not fresh . The stinginess at this place is off the charts!!! I asked for a pepper instead of a pickle and I got neither with my sandwich ...at the other locations you always get a pickle or hot cherry pepper with your sandwich ...then I ask for some mustard and she gives me a small plastic cup with less then a half of a packet of mustard in it as shown in my picture with a boat load of attitude on top of it. I got no napkins and no fork or spoon to eat the coleslaw with I had to return inside restaurant and ask for one that's how stingy this restaurant is with their customers. SERVICE...0/5 Horiuble service , attitude !attitude!!From the moment I walked in, the white middle aged lady does not know what the word smile means and greeting your customers in a friendly manner...she seemed to have an issue and attitude with everything i ordered . Extremely rude . Unfriendly and had no clue what customer service means .. This was a classic book example 101 of what not to do or how to treat your paying customers .for a sandwich and a drink with nothing else it cost me $22 plus tax so I would expect much better service and quality in their food prep ....the owner should fire these workers and hire new people cause I surely wood .  Stay away from this location not recomended at all!!!
