I rarely go back to write reviews on here, but I know I tend to ignore high ratings with only a few reviews, so I'm making an exception. I am staying next door and wanted to grab a quick bite before the drinking begins, so I walked over (it's really only a drive-thru place, but they served me anyway). I just ordered a gyro and side of hummus, and she talked me into making it a combo to save $1 and get a free drink. Total was $9 and change. The hummus was good, but only good. It came with two slices of pita, cucumbers and some fruit I didn't try. But I think they sprinkled crack on the gyro. It tasted really fresh, and awesome. It was a huge portion for a $9 lunch. The place doesn't look like much from the street, but you should definitely check it out. I'll be back for sure! read more

Please don't overlook this drive-through restaurant on Apalachee Parkway. It isn't easy finding good vegetarian food in a drive-through here. Yesterday I ordered a veggie pita from Pitaria Express, and not only was the service friendly, but the sandwich was delicious, and I've never had such a generously filled veggie pita. I loved my food and really loved the service. I came late before they closed and everything was made quickly. I ordered a falafel and pita fries combo. The pita was the biggest falafel pita I have ever seen and it was delicious! I want to eat the pita fries every day of my life! They are amazing why have I never seen these before at any other pita restaurant??? The best part was actually the service. They were super friendly which is almost a shock in this day and age. The new Pitaria Express gets my love & dinner time dollas. Something to note: you order and receive food at the window, so keep that in mind if you're solo driving. I ran around my car to get my order and pay! Same basic menu as the beloved Tennessee Pitaria, Greek staples like falafel, hummus, gyros and such. Pita fries are at this location too (!!). There was a small wait, because they fried my falafels and assembled my food fresh. Worth a few minutes! It's next to the ABC Liquor/CVS and it's easy to miss the turn coming off Apalachee. This is a small drive-thru joint with no area to dine-in. Gyros were very good and in a decent size for the price. A combo includes a gyro and a side and drink, all for less than $9. I've only tried the Greek salad and pita fries. Greek salad was okay, nothing special, but the seasoning on the pita fries was tasty. All in all, a good place to pick up a quick bite. The people that take the order at the windows are very nice. Food is prepared promptly upon order at the window. Tip: call in to order ahead of time to help speed up the line. There are two lanes to order but I can see it becoming a slow moving line as you order and pick up at the same window. read more

The first signal that this place is great should be that both of their drive through lines are full. They are hustling in the little kitchen. I was staying at hotel next door and I walked up to a rarely used walk up window. The workers were very busy, but really nice to the my order. Very friendly. I noticed while I waited for my food to be made to order that the tomatoes and lettuce were being washed nd cored with care and so fresh. It is clear everything is fresh. I got a Kofta with pita fries and half cut ice tea. Yummy and perfect after a 7 hour car trip. I recommend. read more

This place used to make great falafels. Over the last several months, the quality of the food slowly worsened. During my last visit, the falafel was dried out, there was no hummus on the pita, the fries were cold and the drink was flat. I think this place may be headed down the tube. It is a shame because the food is good. Today I ordered a wrap with fries (they were out of greek fries) and a side of Tazicki. Got to office and no Tazicki in bag. Ordered wrap with olives and took a bite almost losing a tooth. The olives had pits. I ordered falafel and it was good, but not as hot as I would have preferred. It made me wonder how long it sat there. Since I have never had drive through falafel before, I am not exactly sure how picky I should be. I had plenty of food with my choice of the number four. This is better than most fast food and if they make the food temperature hotter, I will certainly rate it higher. The only thing I can think to relate it to is getting cooled french fries from a fast food place. You know they are better when they have just come out of the oil. read more

I love the Gyro supreme with feta cheese is my favorite and those pita fries are the best with the tzatziki sauce OMG I'm coming here again today was the first time that I came to Pitaria this is definitely the best Greek place in Tallahassee. This rating is for the Appalachee Pkwy location. I've had multiple bad experiences in between 2 dozen decent experiences...so I just kept returning because the food is good, when my order is actually right. Now that there is a new location, I thought service would be better. They clearly cant keep employees and one employee told me one day that the owner doesnt like to use fresh french fries, that to save money, he will just re-do old fries in the grease. My last visit at the new location, was with Shaun. The drive-thru sign still doesnt work at the new location, so I asked Shaun about it when I drove around because I didnt see anything telling me to give my order at the window at night after sitting there 10 mins. Shaun immediately got defensive and said there is a sign telling me to drive around. I told him I didnt see it and even remarked there's no sign at the old location either...I just knew to drive around. Shaun wasnt hearing it and wanted to argue and then called me rude multiple times after I asked the question. If I say I didnt see a sign, why are you arguing with me, telling me that 3M is supposed to come fix the sign and call me rude multiple times like you're waiting for me to apologize for asking the question?? I said, if you're going to keep standing there going on and on because I asked a question and said I didnt see a sign to drive around in the dark...just refund my money. He said NO, because the food is already being prepared. He then tried to smooth things over by putting a peice of Baklava in my bag. I threw it away because the aggressive way he was acting, made me feel like he did something to it. I will never return as a customer, there are 3 other gyro places within a 5 mile radius. He also left off part of my order that he even charged me extra for on the receipt, and when I asked for it before driving off...he says, I wont charge you for extra tzatziki sauce. MF it even shows you did on my receipt .55 cents, but your hateful behind forgot to put it in my bag because you were busy putting Covid spit baklava in my bag. read more

Some Greek food can be made quickly but it seems unjust to call it fast food. Nonetheless, you can get a sandwich in a hurry at Pitaria. The sandwich in question this evening, a pita stuffed, yes, stuffed with hummus and tabouli, bulging with the green stuff. It was wonderful, one of the best sandwiches ever, if we can call them that. Efficient service make it a quick grab and go if you must, and this evening, a charming young woman at the register. I'm going back again and again. Falafel next time for sure. read more

Very very good gyro. Got the basic lamb gyro (the one at the very top of the menu) and all of the flavors were fantastic. Great tzatziki sauce and the lamb was cooked perfectly. Everyone was piled up at the right window, so I swerved into the left side and was helped immediately with a short wait time for my food. Also, it's a great deal at $6.25 and I will definitely be back. read more

This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel across the street and from Pitaria Express. After reading Yelp reviews, I decided to give it a try. Where can you walk up to a take out window, order food and walk away 3 minutes later with dinner? Here at Pitaria Express in Tallahassee. I ordered the regular Gyro since it was 8:00 PM when I got into my hotel room. The portion was great for a late evening meal. The staff was friendly and I am a happy camper after eating my dinner. I don't like cucumbers, but I ate their's. Great complimentary veggie. I will be glad to eat here again should I ever be back in the area. read more

Tried out their chicken and falafel pita. Got disappointed with both but chicken pita was terrible. The chicken pieces were too big, overcooked and dry. The sauce inside the pita was very little making the whole meal dry. I believe their gyro will be better than chicken pitas.. read more

Bought a gyro and a falafel. Both were fine although the falafel not very hot. Now the odd stuff. The speaker at the primary drive-in doesn't work. No indication of that, so wait. I didn't wait long, there was no one else there. Three young folks inside, in their Sunday best, (Hahahaha). That's when I learned the speaker didn't work. Then they told me the owner never fixes anything. He said I should have a look at the dump inside! Also the air conditioning doesn't work inside. Must be pleasant yo work there. Then I look at my receipt and see that they don't have the single falafel listed on the sign, they come in a box of four. That'd be OK if it were on the sign. In which case I wouldn't have ordered it. That led to the unkind comments about the owner not adjusting the sign or doing anything to fix the place up. Anyway, I demanded and got a buck back on the falafel and left. When I got home I enjoyed the quite satisfactory gyro. The falafel actually tasted pretty good but as previously mentioned was just slightly warm. I can't see how this place will survive. If it does, it'll be without me as a customer. read more

This place is kind of a dive - but the food is awesome! Drive thru only. My wife likes the gyro - for me it's the cheesesteak gyro. Pita fries for us, daughter likes the Greek fries. You can't go wrong. read more

Polynesian Tofu pita is way overpriced. $7.51 just for the sandwich to include a decent portion of tofu & a small handful of pineapple + a very weak Polynesian sauce with barely any flavor there. As a vegetarian, there are a few decent choices. I suggest using the rest of the space on the menu (instead of repeating items/combos) to provide descriptions + perhaps a paper copy to hand to customers @ window? I think I've been here between 5-10 times & it has been mostly sketchy people who have served me with one or two exceptions. I am curious to know what they got on their most recent health inspection. Concept of Greek fast food is great, location is prime, curb appeal is nice, but it is the people on the inside who really make me think twice about going there again. read more

This used to be my favorite Greek food, but the quality has declined. My boyfriends pita was stale. My Greek fries were mush and his pita fries were burnt. The meat on my gyro tasted old and dry. There was no one else there and they didn't seem to be in a rush or busy. I don't expect them to be fast as they are not a typical restaurant but they are relatively speedy. I hope the food is better next time I go because I really do love Pitaria! read more

Yikes... We were so excited to see Pitaria Express in our neighborhood. We've been eating at the original Tennessee Street location for around 4 years and it's one of our favorites! However, the new Express location was a huge disappointment. The greek fries were a different cut and seasoning than the original Pitaria. The fries also taste like they are fried in the same oils as meats- I think that's pretty gross, but maybe some people will find this a plus? They put hummus on our falafel pitas instead of tahini, which is how it's served at the original. And we ordered cokes and got diet Pepsi instead. So every part of both of our meals failed to meet our expectations. We'll drive past this one and go back to the original location from now on. read more

Meh, it will take you a half an hour to get a marginal Greek plate of food. They never answer the phone, don't have Bite Squad orders made on time, don't have hot sauce, and will have you sitting in the drive through for a ridiculous amount of time. Who knows why, but it's constant. And don't be fooled by the positive "Yelp Elite" reviews, they always seem to positively review notoriously lousy local restaurants in language that sounds like restaurant commercials. Corrupt much? No, of course not! Yelp's policy is not to accept bribes! Oh well, we don't call this place Talla-nasty for nothing. read more

The food is great! The prices are reasonable! The workers are so friendly and fun loving! I love going to this location!

Checked their hours on Yelp (open 'til 10 pm) then drove all the way across town to discover they were closed at 9 pm. Had there been a sign on either drive through window indicating abbreviated holiday hours I would have happily taken the blame for not calling. However, there were no signs anywhere saying they would be closing early. To add insult to injury, their marquee read "open 10 am to 10 pm." Poor move on Pitaria's part. We left disappointed, and your competition up the road was happy to have our business. read more

I'm moving up to Tallahassee from Orlando and have been looking for places as well as good food, and this was pretty fantastic! The service was mediocre but the food was pretty darn good. I ordered the regular gyro because I had just wanted fresh veggies; they don't specify what makes a reg gyro (just fresh veggies) verses a supreme gyro (sautéed mushrooms and onion veggies) , especially since the ordering com is broken so you have to give your order at the window. read more

Hands-down to the chefs, crew and the manager for building this drive-thru pitaria in apalachee! I've had different gyros in my lifetime but their gyro is by far the best gyro I've ever had. Mind you, I am a very picky eater. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my food. I don't care if the place is poorly renovated, once that gyro hits my mouth and having that feeling that "it's so good, I almost forgot what my name is!" the exterior of the drive-thru does not matter to me anymore. We've ordered the supreme gyro with fries and drinks, the serving was huge that we could not finish it! It has a lot of meat which is also awesome so you'll know, you're not cheated. Not very good. :( salad had a bug in it and the man preparing the food was walking in and out of the building with the same gloves on that he was preparing the food with. My chicken was dry and the salad was just iceberg lettuce. The people were nice, just not super impressed. read more

All of the best of the Pitaria on Tennessee Street in drive-thru form. Looking for something to pick up on the way home from work? This is it. The pita fries are Ah-mazing. And the falafel wrap continues to be their best item. Crispy falafel patties, veggies and sauce. It's tempting to eat it in the car, but wait until you get home because pita is overflowing with ingredients. These are the kind of fast food places that you feel good patronizing. The Gyro Supreme was, well, supreme! Very nice. Pitaria Express is next to the hotel I was staying at and I simply could not resist giving it a go. It is exactly everything one would expect from drive up/walk up food source...simple menu, fair pricing, friendly staff, and well timed service. The Gyro was well balanced in that the flavors all worked well together and nothing was overpowering...well balanced. Though wrapped nicely, a bit messy to eat, as a Gyro should be. Certainly not the item to order when wearing ones finest outfit...unless it is laundry day!
