We just got 7 new windows installed in our house and couldn't be happier! We got quotes from 3 different companies, and felt that this was the best value (high quality windows at an affordable price). The man who came to do our estimates (I don't remember his name) was honest about what he thought we needed and didn't try to oversell us. I believe we ordered the windows in November, they arrived in May, and we couldn't get on the schedule until July. While having to wait was unfortunate, I know many companies are dealing with similar issues so I don't fault them for that. Scott and his install team were professional, answered all questions we had, and were respectful of our property. Our new windows look amazing and you can already feel the difference in our house. If we need to replace more windows, I'd definitely purchase from them again! read more

I broke my window about a month ago, called this place and told them my situation. They scheduled me for an appointment today to take my window in for repair and asked me to be in there first thing 8am. I go in and they immediately they inform me they don't repair my kind of window because it's too difficult for them/they don't like dealing with my type of window (double pane). That's all fine but why didn't I get this information before waiting a month to come and wasting my morning? I could have tried to repair the window through another service in the time I waited for my appointment to arrive. In October 2020, I shopped around for new exterior doors. (I considered the brand Marvin from a different business, but I was not impressed with the quality of their products or the salesperson's prices and pushy attitude.) I also considered the brand ProVia, which I had purchased several years ago for my previous house. Pittsburgh Window & Door Company, which has operated since 1956, is one of a handful of Pittsburgh-area businesses that sells the ProVia brand. In their showroom, I saw samples of their products, and the friendly owners gave me pamphlets and talked to me about the products. Later, the salesperson Tom came out to my house to do measurements and to give me an estimate. Tom said that the wait for the doors would be a few months, because the pandemic caused a shortage of raw materials for the ProVia factory. I was willing to wait that long, so I immediately signed a contract for a new steel door, storm door, and two sets of large patio doors for $10,580. The estimate was roughly *half* of what their pushy competitor wanted, and it was a similar price to what I had paid several years earlier in the Washington, DC market. ProVia doors are an extremely good quality--very energy efficient and highly secure, so they are worth the money. *No* money was due upfront; Instead, I would pay in full upon completion. Unfortunately, the factory needed extra time to manufacture my doors, so my installation date was pushed back to May 2021, which is NOT Pittsburgh Window & Door Co.'s fault. On the day of the installation, four men showed up on time in the morning. They were very courteous and professional. They wore face masks even outside as a precaution. They worked non-stop until the late afternoon. (They worked through their lunch break, so my husband bought them hamburgers to snarf down.) They installed my doors perfectly, and they comprehensively explained the insulation, security features, how to close the doors and use the locks (which seems easy but actually confused me a little!!), how to change the windows and screens later if we want, etc. They also reminded me to register my doors with ProVia to activate the warranty, and they gave me eight keys. They vacuumed up all of their sawdust, and they cleaned up all of their trash, even taking away a piece of *my* trash! The doors look terrific, and I expect them to save me money on heating and cooling and to keep out intruders. Overall, I highly recommend Pittsburgh Window & Door Co., and I plan to hire them again to replace my windows and perhaps two more doors. read more

Just got a whole house of windows installed. Tom Jones was the most straightforward and honest of all the salespeople I had in my home. He was also the most respectful of my time and home, by a significant margin. The crew who installed my windows was incredible. They were polite, capable, and asked us our preferences at every step of the install process. It was such a refreshing experience compared to what I have come to expect today. WORST customer service ever. Do not use this company. There are many other companies that sell Provia doors. Use one of them. I would give them zero stars but wouldn't be able to post a review without at least one. Michael Hetzler was a nightmare to work with. Paternalistic and mysognistic. I could list all of my issues with this company and Michael in specific. The bottom line is after waiting over 24 weeks for a door (and over a month prior to that trying to get various quotes and getting a lot of attitude with those quotes) I found out my door had NEVER been ordered. We sent in the contract, I emailed that the quote was perfect and that we wanted the door, but it wasn't ordered. And btw, the price had gone up - a lot. GO to a different company . read more

Having seen the PW&D building time and time again (you can't miss it if you're on Evergreen near 28, it's the huge building that towers over the 28 off-ramp to millvale) I knew that my investment in Windows was an investment in my community- which I implore everyone to do! I hope that PW&D keeps him for a long time! They'd be crazy not to! When my sliding glass door lock broke, I panicked because I had no way to lock the main entrance to my home. Within minutes, I had a temporary fix while I waited for it to be repaired. They came to my home faster than anticipated and fixed my sliding glass door in less than an hour. The gentleman who serviced my door was not only a technician, but he had experience as a window fabricator and installer who mainly was in sales - needless to say, he knew what he was doing but didn't give me a sales pitch once. My door worked better than it did before and I was happy to let him know when he followed up. PW&D made a very stressful/anxious negative experience into an easygoing/happy one. You can't buy productive efficiency but you can hire someone who is - PW&D! I am proud to support small businesses but even prouder to recommend a local family owned and operated business that employs hardworking and honest people. Installed ProVia doors. Excellent product, very good installation. ProVia has a good warrantee, but PW&D does not have a warranty on installation. I asked for their warranty and they sent me the manufacturer's warranty which does not cover installation. If something is wrong with the installation, too bad. When I asked them to make a minor adjustment for the dead bolt the owner argued and argued with me and said it was impossible. He wouldn't even send someone to look a the problem. Since there is no installation warranty I fixed the problem myself since I have installed many doors and windows in my life and know a thing or two about door installation. I fear PW&D's idea of customer service is argue and argue until the customer goes away. If you want installation warranty go somewhere else. read more

Just had 7 windows installed in my house by Pittsburgh Window & Door and I couldn't be happier. I had a terrible experience with other vendors like AllGood, who came to my house and took 3 hours out of my evening to give me a long winded sales pitch and very high estimate. Tom from Pittsburgh Window & Door came to my house and gave me an estimate within 30 minutes. The estimate was around 50-60% less than the quote AllGood gave to me. I literally saved thousands of dollars going with Pittsburgh Window & Door. The job was finished in a single day also, which was even more impressive. Highly recommended! read more

I took a long time sevral months (supply chain issuese) from signing to installation. They installed 8 Simonton windows and a patio door all in one day. They were very understanding when my wife decided to get a black handle on the patio door. I was installed that way. We also wanted a full screen for the smallest bathroom winow since we often open it from the top for venallation. It too a few weeks and they brought one out that did not quite fit. After a few trips out they where finally able to squeese it in. They removed the exterior widow sill with the initial installation exposting some holes. They eventually sent somone out who fabricated sills for the whole front of the house where I had aluminum siding. All the extra work was at not additonal charge. I am very satisified. read more

This company was top-notch from start (estimate) to finish (installation). I own an old house, so I didn't want or need top-of-the-line fancy windows. The owner himself came out to measure the windows and provide the estimate. He was very friendly and personable. He took his time, but not too much time (if you know what I mean). He sat down and explained the options and asked me what I was looking for. He didn't pressure me into upgrading. He also didn't pressure me into committing that day (I told him I wanted to talk it over with my son first). All-in-all, the the estimate process was a very pleasant process. My daughter's fiance is in construction and told me the price I was quoted was exceptionally reasonable. He was actually shocked when I told him the price. He was expecting it to be much higher (I have a really big bay window). On installation day, three men showed up (on time), and all three men were extremely friendly yet professional. They did a great job installing the windows. It took them about six hours to install 6 windows, but that's not a true estimate of time because one of the six windows is equivalent to three windows (the big bay window) and it was storming so they often had to stop to wait for the lightning to pass for safety reasons. When installation was completed, I was shown how the windows operated, given my warranty and asked if I had any questions or concerns (which I didn't). They also did a thorough clean-up before they left. I really couldn't be more pleased with the company I chose. read more

Really weird experience. Tom Jones owner and rep came to give an estimate and it seemed up front. But I asked about financing and he told me to hit the link on their website. Turns out they were NOT an approved vendor, also turns out they only do owner occupied (he knew I didn't live there- talked about other owners of investment properties that used their services). So I applied .. Took a hit on my credit and was of course denied because they have no agreement with them. Contacted Tom Jones. He said it's a mistake ...you can apply again by Monday.. By Tuesday I asked if he had straightened anything out. He declared he had dealt with this company for 7 to 8 years with no problem. i contacted them by phone. They had NOOO idea who this company was! Sooo I said ok..I will find other financing , but Tom Jones said NO... We won't continue. It was a $6500 contract. Not chump change in most people's budgets. Not sure what kind of scam operation they are running, but it is definitely a scam!! read more

I hired these guys to install 12 new windows in a commercial building and they did an amazing job. The team was friendly, professional and competent. They came at about 8:30 am and were done by 3:00. The quality of the windows and installation are stellar, and the cost was lower than any other quote I received. My building is much warmer, less noisy and more energy efficient. I can't recommend Pittsburgh Window & Door highly enough. They are usually scheduling a couple of months out because they're so busy, but it is well worth the wait. read more
