I had Dun-Rite Window & Door replace 14 windows at my home built in 1902. Dino was excellent to work with in terms of arranging for the window replacement. Low-pressure and knowledegable. A team of three installers came out (John, John and Jason) who expertly installed the windows over a two-day period. They were efficient and dedicated. They went above and beyond the call of duty dealing with the damage caused by a wind storm which knocked out an old window and its frame. Much appreciated. Dun-Rite has been the most bizarre and frustrating sales experience I have ever had. It feels as though they did not want my business, and I've had to beg them to take my money for weeks. Timeline of Events * 7/25 - Dun-Rite sends out Guy to inspect our current door, take measurements, and drop off materials for review. I also asked him about installing a deadbolt on my garage entry door and possibly repairing a window that won't shut. He said I would receive a quote on Monday. * 7/29 - Monday passes with no quote. I didn't think much of it initially, since I had been testing Provia's online configuration system and had an idea of what I wanted. That morning, I emailed the address on Dun-Rite's card, addressed Guy directly, and asked for quotes on a few different options. I heard nothing. * 7/30 - I finally received a quote, but it doesn't match what I requested. I called Guy to point this out. He makes a few recommendations, and I send over a new spec that night, clearly asking for a quote based on that configuration. * 7/31 - I received another quote late in the afternoon, again not matching the spec I sent. I reply to point this out. * 8/5 - Still no updated quote. I sent another reply asking for an update. * 8/6 - I call Dun-Rite directly. I informed the person who picked up that Guy has been unresponsive to me; I am told they will speak with him the next time he is in and will get me sorted out. * 8/7 - Still no updated quote. I texted Guy directly asking for one. * 8/9 - Still nothing. Guy finally calls me to apologize, saying he lost my email with the specs. * 8/10 - I redo the spec and send it over in the evening. * 8/12 - I receive a quote, but the frame colors for the entry door and storm door do not match what I specified. Guy quickly corrects this and sends an updated version. * 8/15 - I call Guy directly to confirm I'm happy with the quote and ask for a final version so I can review, approve, and arrange payment. * 8/25 - I've heard nothing since 8/12. I texted Guy asking for the finalized quote, citing the exact quote number I want. He called to tell me he lost the quote. I forward it to him. * 8/26 - No response. I texted to confirm he received my email. He replies that he's out of the office but will review it tomorrow. * 8/27 - Guy still cannot locate my quote. He asks me if I can print it out for him and he can stop by my home to pick it up. Besides the fact that is a bizarre request, I am at work and do not have the time available to waste doing something like this. I forward the email to Guy again while on the phone with him to ensure he has it. He confirms he received it and will finalize it immediately. Fifteen minutes later, he calls to tell me he is making a change to the hinge on the storm door. I'm confused, since the quote I wanted already included that hinge. I called back, and it turns out he was finalizing the wrong quote, despite me giving him the specific quote number. He claims we are now on the same page. The end of the business day has passed, and I still do not have a finalized quote. This level of service might be expected if I were paying a few hundred dollars to have Lowe's or Home Depot install a door. But for Dun-Rite to charge thousands of dollars while providing such poor communication and disorganization is insulting. I've never experienced anything like this, and I am honestly shocked that this is how the company conducts business. Additionally, the deadbolt installation and window repair I requested on 7/25 were never mentioned again. I've been so overwhelmed just trying to get the entry and storm doors sorted out that I haven't even bothered reminding Guy. Clearly, he has forgotten I ever requested the services. read more

I had 4 windows and screen door replaced in July and while the windows looked ok the caulking around the windows looks awful! I had them come back out to fix it with no luck at all. I kept explaining how when you do caulking it needs to be one straight line and neat. Also the screen door they put on is cheap and flimsy. Was expecting a thicker door. I totally understand it must be stressful working during covid but the owner should have come out himself and fixed the caulking or offered to refund some of the money. I have to find someone else to fix the caulking now. Also another thing to note they really messed up the drywall around some of the windows and didn't want to fix it until I had them come back out. Do yourself a favor and choose a bigger company that knows what they are doing. read more

Having the windows replaced in my house went well. It took a day & a half and the inside of the house below each opening was clean. They also did well removing my window coverings & replacing them. It's only been 10 days, but the early results are positive. There have been a few cold nights & the house seems less drafty. I also believe I got a good quality windows at a good value. I had two other estimates that seemed over-priced to me. The entire process went well from initial contact, to estimate, to installation. So far I have no regrets & don't anticipate any going forward. read more

Hired Dun-Rite to check all of our older windows and make whatever repairs were needed, in the hopes we would not have to replace too many because they had become hard to open and close. Jason arrived on time and quickly got to work examining and lubricating all of the windows. He explained that the biggest problem was that they needed to be lubricated and most did not actually need to be repaired, and certainly not replaced. Dino and Jason were extremely friendly and responsive and I greatly appreciate that they did the job that was not needed with no attempt to upsell me into new windows or repairs that i didn't need. I will certainly contact Dun-Rite if/when I do need new windows or doors. read more

Of many things we had to sweat over during our renovation project, changing 22+ windows and two patio doors was NOT one of them! Dino was quick to come out for measurements, sent us a detailed and precise quote, and gave us an accurate timeline. When the windows came, the quality was fantastic (for half the price of competitors like Pella). The installation crew was also fabulous. They installed everything in 2-3 days in a house that was full of all kinds of workers from electrician to plumber. They didn't complain that anyone was in their way, and no one complained about them getting in anyone's way. Almost too good to be true for a construction story, but it is. We went to the Pittsburgh Home show looking for someone who could replace the glass in our broken picture window. Everyone we talked to was very helpful, but could not replace just the glass, only the entire window (quotes averaged $1800). One of the companies we spoke with apparently contacted Dun-Rite on our behalf, unbeknownst to us (thank you, whomever you are!), and they gave us a call. The quote to replace the glass came in at a reasonable $300, so we decided to give them a try. The workers were scheduled for 9am on a Saturday morning, showed up early and were fast and pleasant! They even cleaned the adjacent windows inside and out for us, so they would all look tip-top--we never expected that! The window looks brand-new again! We also bought a storm door from Dun-Rite, which was installed the same day, and is beautiful. When Dino came to the house to take measurements and give us a quote, I asked him if our front door should also be replaced (I gave him a golden opportunity to sell me something!). He looked at the door for me, told me I didn't have to replace it and recommended some ways to update it. They even gave us a little discount for paying cash. They provided me 2 quotes that were less than quotes we received from every other place. They provided us with the option to take the window to their store, which saved us about $150. We bought a home in 2012, which had about 15 replacement windows installed in 2010 by Dunrite. We noticed in 2016 that a number of the panes were discolored/fogged, which indicated some sort of production issue with the low e glass (not due to Dunrite's initial installation). Dino worked with and for us with the manufacturer to have the defective sashes replaced under the manufacturer's warranty, which was transferable to us from the previous homeowner. Without any hassle or onerous paperwork requirements, Dino and the manufacturer's rep ordered and received the new sashes, which all fit perfectly. Jason, who performed the work to install the new sashes, arrived at our home at the appointed time and completed the work in a very efficient and workmanlike manner.
