Hi: I would like to send a review about Pivot Acupuncture, the staff, and Dr. Shawne Lopes. When I began acupuncture in October 2024, my high blood pressure was 192/97 and I was dealing with low range of motion and pain in my right shoulder due to pulled/strained muscles. I had recently weaned myself off high blood pressure medication because of non-stop persistent coughing, and I was really scared. Dr. Shawne and her staff was very compassionate and listened to my concerns. Dr. Shawne assured me that with acupuncture, excercise, meditation, tai chi, and diet, my situation would improve. She also ordered a vitamin routine for me, which I began immediately. I continued with my acupunture treatments until the end of January 2025, when my high blood pressure reached l35/64, and my range of motion became normal. Everytime I lift my arm to grab something, I am so grateful that I was able to be under the care of Dr. Lopes. She is amazing and has given me back my life! Yvonne V. read more

I had three acupuncture treatments by Dr. Lopes here and, not only was it the most painful acupuncture treatment I've ever received...but during the entire time I saw her, there was never any long term relief of the pain I was experiencing. In addition, Dr. Lopez never, ever bothered to call me by name!!! It was always "hello sir, okay sir, etc., etc.!!! Therefore, I would never recommend Pivot Acupuncture both for their treatment processes, as well as the impersonal treatment by Dr Lopes herself. (FYI Dr. Lopes...people like to be called my name, especially by someone who supposedly cares about actually helping them.) Instead, I would recommend the Lee Clinic...and particularly Dr. Jennifer Lee....on Empire Street in Fairfield, who I've been going to or over a year and have not only NEVER had any pain during treatment, but over time my pain was reduced to the point where I didn't need to see her as much because I was getting better and even started to have a better sense of well-being. Besides that, everyone here, including Leah, the receptionist, and Jennifer's brother Eric are very friendly and personable and actually call you by name. Unfortunately, the VA only gives treatment windows of six months at a time, so I decided try Pivot using Medicare. Never again because I really don't think Dr. Lopes knows what she's doing!!! read more

I have been receiving my treatments for multiple injuries to my hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders for a few months now, and I am truly impressed. My chronic pain is more manageable with less medication. You feel relaxed just entering the office. The staff is always professional and friendly and I truly enjoy and appreciate the care I receive. I really love how knowledgeable and accurate Shawne is in her work. I suffer from migraines, anxiety, stress, sports injuries and feel a huge difference after seeing her. Recently, I had a foot injury and I thought I had plantar fasciitis because of all of the pain and symptoms. I came in to see Shawne barely able to walk, I came in thinking I needed direct treatment for my foot without knowing the root of the problem, she started treating my calf and achilles. My goodness, without her treatment, I'd still be in so much pain. She was also able to treat my other ailments in the same session too. This science is like second nature to her. For the last 6 years, I have been suffering with chronic back and neck pain and chronic migraines. As a result, it has caused me major anxiety and depression amongst other ailments. I've always been accustomed to seeing Western Medicine Doctors. Unfortunately, in the last few years I've found myself being prescribed many pain medications and tons of others drugs that basically masked my pains. I felt helpless and hopeless and just didn't know where to turn. My daughter started seeing Dr. Shawne and told me I should make an appointment to see if she could help relieve some of the pain. I had been very apprehensive about trying acupunture just because my experience with western medicine and had lost faith and trust in doctors. It took my daughter months to convince me to go in. Eventually I agreed to give it a try. She scheduled an appointment for me and I'm so thankful she did. It's been over 2 years since my first visit and my life has never been the same. Dr. Shawne is a miracle worker. Her knowledge and healing abilities have been life changing. She has been able to give me back my life. I no longer take any pain meds and only addicted to coming in weekly, yes weekly. I always feel calm, relaxed and my chronic pain is minimal when I leave this office. With my conditions, it is imperative that I continue my treatments weekly to control my symptoms which is unfortunately caused by a bad neck and back. Surgery is just not an option I'd elect to have. I have been seeing Shawne the past couple of years before she even opened her own practice. I initially saw her for neck/shoulder pain and now see her for back/hip pain. After each treatment, I felt a tremendous amount of relief! Now I'm addicted to Acupuncture! Not only does Shawne take her time, but she is gentle and really listens to your needs! I've had different ailments, but most recently plantar fasciitis. I went to a orthopedic surgeon and all he did was give me a cortisone shot and send me to PT. PT didn't work. I've had good experience with acupuncture before, and when Dr. Shawne opened her clinic, I was excited to go. She has a gentle style but will only be as gentle as you want when it comes to the needles. My injury requires a mix of gentle and more aggressive treatment, and she's excellent at both. She was also able to diagnose some blood flow issues and give me some herbal supplements to help out. My injury is a chronic one that requires a lot of treatment, but my injury has been getting much better since seeing Dr. Shawne. She also takes insurance and HSA, which is awesome! Would highly recommend to anyone who wants relief from chronic pain or injury. See you next week! read more

Dr. Lopes started treating my mom shortly after she had a stroke. My mom's physical therapist highly recommended seeing an acupuncturist to help with her recovery. I was curious about acupuncture for a while but was inspired to begin treatments for menstrual cramps and hormonal acne by a friend studying it in school. I searched around the area and checked out a few places, but Pivot was the practice that called to me the most. The process of setting up a consultation and treatment plant was so easy and comfortable! Dr. Lopes was very welcoming right off the bat and same with her practice & assistants. I've been seeing Dr. Lopes for almost 4 months now and my symptoms have definitely improved, I'm so thankful! Dr. Lopes is a woman of many talents who is full of knowledge. This was my first time getting acupuncture. Absolutely pleasant. Dr. Shawne explains what she was doing before proceeding. As she's explaining, she creates small talk as well to make me less nervous. Definitely made things easier for me. She is knowledgeable and precise during her sessions. The process was easy. My job forces me to carry very heavy objects so of course that creates a strain in my hands and wrists. My tendons and joints were in major pain.
