For personal reasons I get very uncomfortable about being alone with other men. However, I felt ok and James was very respectful to me and asked me how I was feeling throughout the process. He let my boyfriend sit in so I wasn't that nervous. He took his time and talked me through some of the issues I was having. I get regular massages so I know good from bad and I would go to him every week if I lived closer. I booked a massage with Destiny at Fairfield Wellness Spa and walked in feeling tense and stressed. She checked in with me before and during the session to make sure the pressure was right. The deep-tissue work was firm enough to help, but never pushed past what I could handle. The room was quiet and calm, the music was calming, and there were no strong smells, which I really appreciated. She took time to warm up the muscles before going deeper and ended with lighter work, so I wasn't extremely sore. I walked out feeling looser and, honestly, destressed. Stumbled upon this place on a whim because my normal massage therapist was booked. Let's lean into it. The calendar on the website is not synced with their live calendar so the time I booked for 90 mins was unavailable. The owner asked if I could come in a couple hours later and advised she'd throw in hot stones for free. PERFECT. Although bummed with the later start time I just did a few things and headed out a little later. Parking: there was parking available right in front of the business. I am not 100% certain if they have a parking lot. Upon entering to the left there is a door with a handicap sign and a flight of stairs to the right. I thought the handicap room was a bathroom so I proceeded up the darks stairwell. Once I saw the first door was locked I proceeded back downstairs. I opened the door to a gentleman sitting there. He joked, you went upstairs didn't you? Anywho. I believe his name was Sam or John. I totally can't recall. He took me into my treatment room and came back. He asked would I mind stretching in the massage. Since it was 90 mins I thought that would be a great touch. 90 min Massage: The first 10-15 mins of the massage was him gently rubbing my shoulders and such. I would give that a 1 out of 5 stars because I thought it would be a full 90 mins as I really needed it. The next 60 mins were great 5/5 the pressure was prefect in most areas. He did do the hot stones briefly nothing to write home about and since it was FREE, no true comment there. Finally the home STRETCH literally. lol I REALLY needed it. My quads, hamstrings were on fire but man did it feel good when I left. Final- a big portion of the 3 star is because I wasn't made aware it was a cash only establishment! You literally should lead with that. I would've likely went somewhere else. Thankfully I had the $ and I apple paid him.. again a little strange from a business and I tipped him in cash. I planned on booking a facial appointment but that truly turned me off on returning. Overall, the Fairfield wellness spa came in clutch when I needed them. I visited Fairfield wellness spa for the first time and I had the best massage today with James . He explained what he was doing, how he was working on areas, where my tension was at , kept checking to make sure I was doing ok throughout. he even ended my massage with some after care stretches for me to do on my own at home to help my problem areas. I've always been scared to try a male therapist and he really made my visit so comfortable with his knowledge and professionalism. First- Fairfield has its very own quaint little spa - no need to go out of the city. Has ample parking, is wheelchair accessible. Staff kind and considerate. Christy did me wonderful massage. I recently received a very thorough and very relaxing massage from James here at the Fairfield wellness spa. Not only did he do an exceptional job of rubbing away all of my stress and hitting pressure points that relieved a lot of tension in the body, but He is very educated on anatomy and stress reliving positions/ pressure points. He was able to give me a regiment to do my own stretches afterwards in order to keep up the progress that we have made. I have received many massages, but I have never felt more relaxed and educated after a session. It's one thing to relax somebody, but it's another thing to teach them things that they can do to relax themselves on a daily basis, which is what makes James so valuable. As a runner and someone who deals with chronic back pain, Christy has gotten me through acute flare-ups of bulging discs and sciatica, and now I see her every two-four weeks for a 90 minute massage for maintenance. Christy has been the only person I've been going to for massages since 2020! & She also did my maternity massages! From past experiences, other people would hurt me or be too rough with their hands when massaging me but Christy's pressure is perfect. I've had a frozen shoulder for over two years, I'm in the dethaw stage, but over time my muscles and ligaments have locked, my shoulders, back, down into my legs.
