I cannot recommend this practice, or Dr.Mendonca, enough. I was suffering horrible pelvic floor…read moredysfunction - resulting in pain that left me unable to enjoy my daily life and do the simplest of task. The day I walked into Ace Physical Therapy and started my therapy with Dr.Manisha Mendonca that all changed. I left the consultation appointment equipped with knowledge , a game plan, and (most important) hope for an end to my pain. Over the next few months, Ace Physical therapy worked with me to meet the flexibility my schedule demands ( I travel often for work) and to return strength and function all while handling the back end , endless paperwork that is insurance claims so that I didn't have to worry about the treatments being covered ( thanks Kendall at front desk). The therapy has been worth every penny and then some. The whole practice is amazing- from front desk, to individual therapists, to general attitude- a passion focused, no excuses but encouraging atmosphere with lighthearted banter that makes even the most pained patient feel at ease. The most valuable thing I took away from my therapy was priceless- I got my life back and the tools to manage any lingering symptoms. I wanted to write this review because I could not be more thankful for the treatment, expertise and healing I received, but also for other individuals who suffer the same issues. When I received my referral, my OBGYN was not too familiar with providers in my area and my insurance even struggled to provide me with a recommendation. It's a lonely and desperate situation to deal with pelvic floor pain- but it doesn't have to be. There are resources and Dr.Mendonca at Ace Physical therapy is top notch.

I am a 63-year-old woman with multiple chronic conditions that cause widespread daily pain. My…read morerheumatologist referred me to this pain clinic, and I was hopeful I would receive both a treatment plan and some relief while waiting for longer-term treatments. Although I have already had numerous X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, additional X-rays were taken during my visit. I showed Dr. Sundar an insurance approval letter for a new infusion that will help my pain and condition but he said he was not familiar with the medication. I told Dr Sundar I was experiencing new pain that started 2 days ago and thought it to be Sciatica but he totally dismissed me, he would not check out condition. He told me he does not prescribe pain medication and could refer me to physical therapy, order new MRIs, and schedule steroid injections months down the road. I asked if there was anything that could help with my pain until those treatments took effect. He replied that if I was in pain, I should go to the emergency room. When I questioned why new X-rays were taken after he said X-rays don't show those problems, the conversation became confrontational. I felt he raised his voice and spoke to me in an unprofessional manner, so I chose to leave. I understand that doctors have different approaches to pain management, but every patient deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. There are many different NSAIDS that are prescribed for pain daily, this doctor does not have to prescribe a narcotic but could have easily prescribed Motrin or Voltaren Gel or given an insert for how to treat Sciatica but this doctor just says he does not prescribe medication period. However if you pull him up on his Youtube channel he list his protocols and the first thing on his list is Medication.

The nurse proceeded to take off her perfectly functional splint, knowing before Doctor Moody even entered the room that he was unable to do anything for her condition. Despite this, he subjected my young child to multiple, uncomfortable attempts to re-splint her with someone who also looked uncomfortable, achieving nothing but causing distress. We were sent away with zero guidance, no follow-up plan, and no communication about next steps outside of a sheet of paper. The fact that the clinic knowingly went through an entire unnecessary process, charging us for it, is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the financial and follow-up communication has been non-existent. We paid $300 at the time of the visit and have now been wrongfully billed an extra $89. I have called four times and spoken with a live agent who provided a "direct phone number" to resolve this, yet absolutely no one has returned my calls. Ortho Virginia has left us high and dry--not only failing to provide adequate medical direction but actively ignoring repeated attempts to resolve an unjustified bill. This level of negligence and disregard for patient concerns is appalling. We expect an immediate refund for services rendered and for the erroneous extra billing to be dropped.

I was very impressed with Dr. Aguilar and will likely go to him in the future instead of the doctor I've been seeing for 20 years. I'm in my mid-50s and have had a number of knee issues including an ACL repair at age 30 and numerous scopes since then; on both knees. Since I have had so many scopes and have had arthritis diagnosed in both of my knees from previous MRIs and x-rays, I was pretty confident that I had a meniscus tear. My previous doctor, who I have had great confidence in, would've taken a much more conservative approach and sent me to physical therapy. Last year I had a meniscus tear in the other knee and that was his course of action. After two months of physical therapy did not help my knee, the doctor scoped and found three meniscus tears and additional arthritis. So I endured two months of additional pain and the expense of $60 a week for physical therapy for nothing. So I really appreciated Dr. Aguiar accepting what I knew was going on in my other knee. He found a large meniscus tear, and a lot of debris and arthritis. He is fitting me for a knee brace and told me to expect to have a partial knee replacement within the next year. While I usually like a conservative approach when it comes to treatment, I felt that Dr. Aguiar is actually looking for results and not putting the burden of improvement on me; like the other doctor, whose only suggestion was that I lose weight; Dr. Aguiar didn't mention my weight. I think I have found a new knee doctor.

Go somewhere else…read more Although the knee replacement itself was successfully performed, I cannot recommend this surgeon based on my overall experience. Before surgery, I was told that I could expect to regain my normal range of motion. In my case, my normal range was approximately 160 degrees or more. After surgery, the attitude seemed to be that 120 degrees was an acceptable result. Had that expectation been clearly explained before surgery, I would have viewed the decision very differently. More troubling was the postoperative care. His bedside manner was extremely poor. During follow-up visits, I consistently felt that he could not get out of the room fast enough. I was experiencing severe postoperative pain, yet I felt that both he and his PA were largely indifferent to it. Pain medication was prescribed in very small quantities and for short periods despite the severity and duration of my pain. My impression was that avoiding the possibility of dependence was given far greater priority than adequately controlling severe postoperative pain. I experienced what I can only describe as 10-out-of-10 pain, with the first two months being especially brutal. The entire experience left me feeling that my pain and quality of life during recovery were simply not important to this practice. For those reasons, despite the technically successful knee replacement, I cannot recommend this surgeon.

I visited for an acute hand injury and the office verified my insurance before the appointment, but no one informed me that a PCP referral was required for coverage. After the visit, the claim was denied and I was left with a $520 bill that was eventually sent to collections, forcing me to go through months of appeals with my insurer and even the Virginia Bureau of Insurance. During that process it became clear that the claim was submitted as a specialist office visit and not coded as urgent care, even though the visit was for an acute injury. The state review indicated the provider could submit a corrected claim for reconsideration, but the billing office never corrected or resubmitted it. This entire situation could have been avoided with basic communication or proper billing follow-up. If I had been informed upfront that a referral was required, I would have simply obtained one. Patients should not have to deal with collections and regulatory appeals because of administrative oversights and lack of transparency.

I have seen almost all of the physical therapists, exercise specialists, and front desk staff members in the one-plus years that I have been in physical therapy here. This is the best physical therapy practice I have ever been with for my needs, and for recovering from surgery or injuries. My primary physical therapists were Claire and Jessica, and they're both outstanding. Additionally, I saw Mike, Bianca, Garrett, and Macie, and they all assisted me in my recovery. Justin, Rachel, Chartise, and a few others assisted with my exercise treatments after I saw my physical therapist each day. The front desk staff couldn't have been any better, from Madeline leading the way to Melina and Rylie and others following with any of my needs, from scheduling to rescheduling to handling insurance concerns and figuring out whether appealing would allow me to, yeah, more physical therapy while recovering from my dual back surgeries. When I first came here for physical therapy, I told them that they had big shoes to fill because I hadn't had success with any other physical therapy practice in Virginia. They certainly went above and beyond to resolve my pain during surgical recoveries, as well as working to avoid surgery in different areas of my body. If you need physical therapy, this is the place to come, and I can honestly say that hands-down! I highly recommend giving them a shot for all your needs.

It has made such a difference in me understanding my injuries and getting better (I had some significant injuries, and I'm obviously not young, so it is taking a while). Dr. Kecman is very skilled with dry needling too, and has provided me with much relief!
