The food is very tasty here; portions are large, so lighter appetites may want to split an order. Walk up to the counter (expect a short wait, even if the line looks long - they get through it quickly). The food comes out quite fast. A great place to stop off for a quick bite when exploring Sitka. Not necessarily a place to spend hours over a meal; it's a fast-food vibe, with indoor and outdoor seating.
Come early when the ships are in town. They were open before the advertised 11 am and by then there was a line. Super delightful staff that went above and beyond! The Red Crab was absolutely amazing, don't miss the clam chowder too! I would say this place is a must if you love King Crab. Bring your credit card because it's not a cheap meal but it's worth every dollar!
The crab was AMAZING! I had lunch with two new friends and everyone loved what they had. It is a little hole in the wall. The service was fine.
French Fries - 11/10 Dungeness Crab - 9/10 King Crab 8/10 Stopped here after researching places for Crab on an Alaskan Cruise and this place is now a must stop the next time we come back. Hands down the best fries anywhere on earth. I don't know what the secret is but they were insanely good. Hopefully the recipe stays the same! Dungeness was excellent and King was pretty good. Best crab in Sitka for me! Place was a little small inside but there was outdoor seating. Bathroom was also decent, could use a more sanitary way to open the door from the inside but that's a minor nitpick.
Stopped by Sitka Burger & Crab Shack and had a great experience overall. Service was quick and friendly. The Dungeness crab was excellent -- I liked it so much I ordered three rounds! My wife isn't a seafood fan and really enjoyed her burger, which says a lot. The fries were good too. The only downside was the onion rings. They came out cold and weren't very tasty, so I'd probably skip those next time. Other than that, definitely worth stopping by, especially for the crab.
I don't want to give a negative review for a spot I have only visited once. So I'll start with the positives. Wonderful staff, efficient service, fascinating menu, and if I was here for a length of time, I would like to work my way down the menu. The loss of star is only for the Lobster Sandwich, which was "odd". We did note that were several ingredients beside lobster (should have been the clue) but was told that was because they add extra stuff to the lobster. Ok, fair. I was offered cold or hot and I chose hot. Overall, French fries were great, bun was good and the "lobster" was meh. My travel partner had dunguness crab and she loved it.
We were in with a bigger party of 6 adults and 4 kids. I was worried we wouldn't be able to have enough seating for us because the space didn't look very large from the pics. But it was a lovely day so we were able to sit outside at the several tables there. This is a counter service place. You place your order and then they bring out your food. We had everything from chowder to fish and chips to lobster sandwich to Dungeness crab and literally everything was delicious. I personally ordered the chowder and crab and would recommend for sure! The employees were all super nice! It's expensive but also it's Alaska and everything was a little pricier, as expected. I'd go early because by the time we finished up, seats were hard to come by!
For sure some of the best fried halibut in Alaska. Been a lot of places. I much prefer this one for fried halibut. Small and hard to see from the street but it's on the right hand side of the address when you're looking at it from the street. I would say a don't miss. Affordable as halibut and Alaska go. But I don't feel like I just got robbed. And got not much for it. These guys deliver and you're full. Great sauces or straight. I don't think you'll be disappointed
The shack, as its name implies gives off hole-in-the-wall vibe. In a good way. We sat outside on the little patio. Everyone was very friendly. They had me at "halibut fish & chips". I love halibut and rarely to get the chance to eat it anymore. This fish was excellent. Three good sized pieces of delicious. The fries were okay, nothing to write home about. Our friend ordered the crab which he thought was quite good, too. The meal is expensive - $35 as of July 2025. I have no real comparison as this was our first meal in Alaska. They don't offer tap water, so you need to buy a bottled drink of you want something to wash down your food. Overall, happy with our visit.
This place was JAM PACKED but well worth walking over here for a meal. The service was efficient. As soon as somebody got up off of a table. It was clean and ready for the next party. The food was simple and was good. Our order came out quickly. The staff was well organized and friendly.
When in Sitka, AK, go for king crab and seafood at Sitka's Burger and Crab Shack! We had Alaska King Crab Legs and Alaskan Halibut Sandwich & Fries. We were visiting Sitka for the day from a cruise port and we were trying to find a restaurant for fresh king crab and seafood. We stumbled here after walking around discovering Sitka downtown. It did take a bit longer for our food to be ready but knowing two cruise ships docked they were so busy with lines the door. There is also minimal tables to sit but good time when our food arrived, we found a table outside to devour our food. It was a sunny and it was nice to sit outside taking in the wonderful weather we were lucky to have in September 2024 in Alaska. If you are ever in Sitka, must try out their fresh seafood!
Sitka Alaska is such a magical little town. I had the opportunity to go on a wonderful boating adventure this morning & after all that excitement. We worked up quite an appetite. However we quickly discovered how hard it was going to be to find a spot for lunch being that it's also Sunday. All the places we checked next to the harbor was closed. Either opening later for dinner or under construction. Luckily one of the places we called referred us to Sitka's Burger & Crab Shack. When we pulled up, we were just so happy to see the open sign with lights on inside. Plus there was already a few diners with their food. The lady behind the counter was super nice, patient with all our requests & accommodating. Our order was started the moment we placed it. So the wait wasn't long at all. It only felt like a few minutes before our food was dropped off at our table. Not only did it look delicious but everything was piping hot straight from the kitchen. Which I absolutely love because I personally can't eat cold fries. Even after biting into my fish sandwich I could see the steam from the heat being released. Giving that wow factor. Since you can tell my food wasn't chilling in the kitchen getting cold before being delivered. Plus our cashier/server also happened to be the owner. So any time I meet someone who does a wonderful job ensuring their customers are happy. I want to help spread the word with my positive experience. Sitka was a port stop on our cruise and since we didn't have Alaskan King Crab in Ketchikan we said we absolutely had to get it in Sitka. Did a little research and while there weren't many restaurants who both served Alaskan King Crab and had great reviews with the exception of Burger & Crab Shack so we had to go. When we arrived there was literally a really short line so we hopped right on and ordered. We came for the Alaskan King Crab so that's what we ordered and BBBAAAAYYYYBBBBEEEEE did they deliver - OMG! The largest, juciest and most fresh Alaskan King Crab I've ever had. Nothing I've had in the past even comes close to comparing - and it was absolutely positively worth every penny. Chefs Kiss! The staff was very friendly too and made sure everyone who was dining there was happy. Highly recommend this place for Alaskan King Crabs and for pretty much everything else on the menu because we saw folks eating burgers ... MASSIVE and their fish and chips and it all looked amazing! read more
I had the $35 fish and chips while my wife had the $11.50 New England clam chowder. Very small hole in the wall restaurant. Not the best of ambiance. The clam chowder had plenty of clams in a very rich creamy broth. Fish and chips halibut fish with minimal breading and lots of fish fillet. Fresh and tasty fish. Wanted to have the famous Alaskan king crab legs but a cluster of legs was $145. should have tried the Dungeoness crab legs at $35. Service was okay but lengthy wait to use the single unisex bathroom Limited indoor seating. Fortunately it was a sunny day in the middle of summer and plenty of outdoor seating. Sitka Alaska has over 200 days of rain yearly so if it's raining finding a seat indoors is going to be a challenge. read more
Very popular place and for good reason! Super tasty burgers and ton of variety of toppings and sides, for the non seafood lovers. For the seafood lovers - lush clam chowder, meaty, flavorful snow crab and the Dungeness is also wonderful! Great restaurant for lunch. We had the fish and chips. The fish was very hot and I was disappointed to see that it was not technically "fresh". It tasted just fine, but I think I expected it to be actually hand breaded and fried. This was obvious that these fillets came frozen from a store. The fries were excellent. I would definitely eat here again because their burgers looked amazing. Maybe I'll try that next time. read more

Found this place on a trip to Sitka Alaska. Reasonably priced as many places were expensive and too overpriced. Food came out quick. Had the Sitka single 1/4 lb. Burger, side of fries and a Diet Coke. Food was delicious and toppings were fresh. Cheese was unique but good. Lots of Outdoor seating. There was also selection for Jucy Lucy but not the well know juicy Lucy with cheese in the middle. There was also options for King Crab legs (but expensive). Great place to eat. I'll come again if I am in Sitka. read more
Just what I was looking forward to coming to Alaska. The Halibut Fish and Chips were Amazing. The crust was perfect thickness and crispness and flavored just right. The fish was light and cooked just right. My husband had the lobster roll which was filled with lobster on a fresh sandwich roll. Our friends had the chicken strips and chicken sandwich and said it was the Best they've ever had. Don't let the prices scare you away, you're on vacation...worth the splurge. read more

Arrived at 10:50 as they were opening and Placed order #2 when they opened at 11:03. 39 minutes later still no food. Poor customer service. The others that were served looked like they had food that was good. No apology or explanation except they were short staffed. That does not excuse skipping orders and filling other first. If you are on a cruise ship and need fast service Do not go here! On the other side, the crap legs were good. When it was mentioned to the person on duty, her comment was "do what you have to do." read more

Oh my gosh, they are not kidding that these are the best burgers in town! While they are a bit pricey, they are well worth it. I have to say, I wasn't impressed by the service. The girl at the cash register/taking orders appeared super bored and almost annoyed that we were there! But, after watching her interact with other customers it was clear the behavior was not about us and relatively consistent. Perhaps she was having a bad day or maybe this is just her personality. But, don't let this deter you, the burgers were outstanding! They were cooked perfectly and we all enjoyed what we ordered. The fries are good too but eat them quick or they will get cold quick! I would definitely come back if I had more time here! read more
