For 4 years I consumed a large pepperoni pizza from this fine establishment almost every night during swim team season 1983-1987. Servo was ok, but not enough calories. We called it "fat Jacks" then (everyone from that era knows why) but it's Pizza House. Sometimes I had a pie even after having a cheesesteak from Robbie's (RIP). It's not NY/NJ quality but very good. Always loved this place but a bit concerned going there recently and cook came to register without a mask and took my order then handled payment and then proceeded to grab the food and start making my pizza with out mask, gloves or even washing hands after our exchange or even given his re- entry from the back for that matter. I only went through with the order because of the high heat involved in baking. But this is not a good practice (handling toppings without gloves or hand wash) - covid days or not. read more

Growing up in Gettysburg Tommy's was always the place to eat and honestly never even considered Pizza House, then last summer a friend from high school posted her nephew purchased it and I thought why not give it a try. What a pleasant surprise after the disastrous pizza from Tommy's! This pizza was outstanding and making me wish I'd gotten a large instead of a small. The crust was perfectly cooked, light and airy. The sauce had a nice flavor and the cheese was baked just right. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was not too greasy. We ordered it to go and the employees were all super nice. This will be our new pizza place whenever we're in town. Good pizza and good prices! read more

I'm shocked with how good this was. Pizza house pizzas aren't the typical New York style pizzas you get just about everywhere. It's a thicker, richer, almost more buttery pizza. It actually reminded me a lot of Tommy's pizza, but with a little less sauce and grease, and a crunchier, sturdier crust. (The crust is amaze balls). Plus it's less expensive. I went to the college in the mid-seventies, and this restaurant was the closest to my dorm room in Stine Hall. At the time it isn't an understatement to say that the cafeteria was horrible, so a pizza from here was like heaven. Back then they made a great pie, and when I'm in town this is usually my first stop. It's still a great pie- easily the best in town and is true to what was served way back when. Truth be told, this place hasn't changed much from the seventies, and that's a good thing. You seriously can't go wrong here. read more

I stopped in Saturday evening and had a small cheese and pepperoni and a soda. The pizza was quite good, slightly crispy, not really doughy. Price was good, about $9 and they even gave me a large soda for the price of the small. Service was friendly. It only took about 15 minutes to get the pizza. This is a very basic no frills pizza joint. With a fair amount of seating inside. I would eat here again. read more

I have read on some other sites some pretty bad reviews of this place, saying the staff is rude or claiming something wrong with the food. We live here and order from here usually once a week. We have never had issues with the staff, and , to us, the food is amazing. We usually get pizzas, and the crust is the best I've had. Even delivered, it gets there so hot its like right out of the oven. The toppings are always fresh, and generous. We have also tried a few subs here, and the bread is great and the subs are tasty. Now, as to the inside. Its old, its divey, its a small pizza place in a college town, but its got personality. With two pinball games hidden away in a small corner and limited seating made up of 80s style booths, and small tables, it reminds me of being a kid going to the local pizza joint. How can I be the first to review this instutitution of higher education pizza establishment? Just off of Gettysburg College's campus sits "Pizza House." Good, cheap, greasy, and quality never varies. The staff never varies just ages. Good pizza, good subs, good prices. Cheese that slides off the pizza in a pile, crust that never dissapoints. Hard to give this place even one star. Pizza was mediocre at best. Canned commercial pizza sauce with way to much sugar and little taste. Can't see how this pace gets better reviews. I also had the same health cate concerns. Only one staff member who did everything. Never wore a mask and never once did he wash his hands from dining up sakes, making chance, preparing the pizza, not once. Does the local health district ever inspect this place as it should be shut down. However from they very few customers in the establishment I don't expect them to be in business much longer. Made a mistake and also ordered a salad if you can call such. shredded lettuce that you would put on a sandwich and a very few tomato pieces on the lettuce and they called it a salad. I am quite the pizza eat as their sign says I only eat pizza I'm days that end in Y! I have been a patron to all the pizza places (except Tommy's pizza) in town over the past 5 years at least. It wasn't until more recently I frequented pizza house fed up with the inconsistence of the bigger franchise places. I was tired of having to call dominoes because they messed up every order! Here I have had only two wrong orders in all the times I've ordered here! The best part is the consistency you won't see anywhere else. Their pizzas are not too seasoned and I enjoy a fairly plain pizza! The crust is cooked great never burnt! The service is mostly friendly and they know me pretty well by my orders! They offer free delivery and you must pay cash for the deliveries. All deliveries after 4 pm I believe. read more

Amazing pizza. Could eat it every night. Very good pepperoni & cheese, not too much sauce either. Had a steak & cheese as well, had a slightly greasy taste. Just think they need to drain the steak better. But this is definitely our new go to Pizza restaurant! Yummy!! Edit: Attempted to order delivery & was told it was cash only? So I read some decent reviews on Yelp and Google about this place. I was initially intrigued because it reminded me of a pizza joint that I used to go to when I visited my friend at Frostburg State University in MD. Overall the pizza was good. Light crispy crust, flavorful sauce. I didn't care for the texture of the mozzarella or the flavor of the pepperoni. Customer service was lacking...it seemed that it was a bother that I ordered slices instead of a whole pizza. Not much ambiance. We have stopped there a couple times so far. This place is now "top dog" as far as Steak and Cheese subs go in my boyfriend's eyes! He's saying it's flavored right and tastes great. I've tried them and he's right. I also tried the pizza, it's okay. Better than Tommy's, but that's just my opinion. The only thing that took away the last star is the seating. I ordered a sub and onion rings. Bad idea. As far as hang over food is concerned, this place might do the trick... Unfortunately I wasn't hung over at all. The onion rings were extremely over cooked... To the point of almost being slightly blackened. The sub was greasy and mostly inedible. I lived in this place from 1982 to 1986 when I went to Gettysburg College. No joke I had a large pizza there usually with a buddy 4 nights a week. Even got our Frat to start ordering pizzas there when our cook had the night off. Every time I come back to G-Burg (I live in Oregon now-the land of HORRIBLE pizza) I stop by. My family found the Pizza House as a "craving". When we are in town, it's a must stop at least once for the Pizza. The crust has a unique taste from the oven that's probably been there since they started. The Pizzas are not large but have a great taste in the crust, good tomato sauce and real cheese. Overpriced, low quality pizza. I can't even believe this company considers themselves a pizza place. I grew up in Gettysburg and my parents used to order pizza from the Pizza House. When I was a kid, I ate it because I didn't know any better. Gettysburg wasn't exactly a hub for great pizza shops. Now you can find pizza shops everywhere in any town, many of which are at least decent if not pretty good. I rank Pizza House in my top three worst pizza places, right up there with Fox's Pizza Den (Dover, PA) and Little Caesars. Both Fox's Pizza Den and Pizza House charge too much for their pizza if you consider the quality and taste. At least Little Caesars only charged $5 for their crappy hot and ready pizzas. The pizza we got last night at Pizza House was very bland. You would think they used a cheap boxed kit or a fundraiser's pizza kit. Really, after all the years this place has been open and their pizza is that bad? I wonder if they donate money to Gettysburg College, because they should be thanking all the drunk and/or desperate college kids for all the business they get. read more

Delivery was pretty quick. Pizza was ok, on the plain side. 3 stars because i ordered a cheese steak and cheese fries and the cheese used on both was odd. I wish i could think of another word for it but odd is about right. Bottom line is there are better and worse places to eat. 3 stars. read more
