Had a delicious lunch at Il Ritrovo today. We opted to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather,…read moreand were able to be seated immediately. Our server Dylan was excellent, and the rest of the staff kept our waters filled and dishes cleared. We tried the Vegetariano panini (fantastic) and the Lombardia pizza Bianca (also fantastic). Everything is clearly prepared with intention - the greens on top of the salad were perfectly dressed, and the veggies on the panini were chopped into small, uniform pieces so every bite was perfect. It was hard to decide what to order, so we will be back to work our way through the menu!

It was IMPOSSIBLE to talk to each other. It was so loud, we were basically yelling at each other, the waiter too. Our table was so tiny, it barely had room for our food. What if we had ordered more? Our waiter was super nice and very knowledgeable. However, when he was telling us about the pasta special, we both heard him talking about adding berries to it. But when it came it, we were confused what he was even talking about. The pizza was great BUT only when you eat it fresh. After it got to room temp/cold, all you could taste was the burnt crust. Unfortunately, now that it's off my list of place to try, I probably would not go back. Also, we had to wait 30mins which was fine but a party of 2 who came AFTER us, got seated before us.

Pizza is personal and it depends on what style you like. This was good for a thin crusted pizza,…read morebut not great, imo. Pros: It was open, isn't a chain, has good beer and pizza, cute ambiance, friendly people, and the pizza had a good sauce, good cheese, wasn't oily, had a thin crust, and the aroma from outside smells just like a NY pizzeria, and so does the taste! Con's: While thin and supposedly hand tossed, the crust certainly isn't really New York style. It is missing the chewy (like good bread)) crust around the outer edge of the pie, and it didn't seem quite baked through, although there was a crisp to the bottom. Instead of slicing into triangles with each slice cut from outer edge to the center, they cut it into little squares which means the entire center of the pizza is without edge crust. (In NY, we simply fold the large slices in half and the super thin crust has a slight crisp on the bottom, bends not cracks when you fold it, and the outer thick edge of every slice is a lovely, chewy "grip". Salad was fine. Nothing special, packaged dressing. If I really want pizza next time visiting Sheboygan, I might go again, but I'd order a smaller pizza (or two if we needed that much pizza rather than the very big pie, to assure each slice has a crust around the edge.

I don't know if it was a change in ownership or just trying to cut costs but it has not changed for the better. Been a valued customer since Faye's first opened its doors. This is a sad loss to the community and to real pizza lovers.

One of us had ribs and they looked phenomenal. He ate them all so I am going to assume they were top notch. I couldn't believe the huge portion. Another one of us had a pulled chicken sandwich and waffle fries--no complaints there either. My partner and a pulled pork sandwich with a side salad, and he liked it. I decide to get one of their 10" wood fired pizzas with a cauliflower crust. I had not eaten a meal yet, so naturally I was incredibly hungry...and.... ....ugh....I didn't see this coming. I ordered a pizza with green peppers. That's it. But at first bite, I didn't WANT it to be there, I didn't ASK for it to be there, yet there is was: the STINKIN' STANKIN' TASTE OF GARLIC POWDER. To any restauranteur with ears: STOP WITH THE DAMN GARLIC POWDER. Many people love garlic butter, and many of us do NOT. If we want it, we'll order GARLIC BREAD. Stop putting it in everything I order from potatoes, to fish, to now...apparently...pizza. One star on my food. There's your three star average. I'd love to knock you down to one, but I'm trying to be fair here.

Try one of the originals. A hickory smoked pulled pork sandwich. The pork is smoked for 14 hours and is tender and delicious.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed socializing with some of the regulars as well as the bartender. For drinks we had an old fashioned and a lemon-tini made with their homemade limoncello which were both very good. We then shared a broke which was a light dough with a dipping sauce of tomatoes, cheese and veggies. Very unique. We also shared the beef Marsala pizza. The beef was very vendor and the crust was light and yummy. During our dinner the owner came by and introduced himself. We had a very fun evening and look forward to joining them at one of their wine dinners.

Despite that our party of six was seated quickly and we were offered dining room, patio or covered patio tables. We chose the dining room which is cute, dark and unfortunately a bit loud. Our service was good and our server was friendly, but it was difficult to hear her and her us.A couple of us had Manhattans, which were very good, but the glasses were different sizes, which made me think maybe mine was not the same volume. My dad ordered the beef Marsala pasta, which was a generous serving and he seemed to enjoy it. The rest of us ordered different pizzas - everyone liked their choice but there were a couple standouts. The walnut was a revelation, walnut puree, fontina cheese, whipped cream cheese, mushrooms, and roasted walnuts. It was unique and tasty. My truffle pizza was also excellent, with authentic flavor and not the overwhelming fake truffle notes you sometimes get. The sausage pizza was also good, according to my BF.

Ratings Overview: * Apple Maps: 92% approval (13 ratings)…read more* Google Maps: 4.3 stars (259 reviews) I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening and was immediately struck by how empty it was--a concerning sign during prime dinner hours. The establishment has more of a bar-like atmosphere, which could work for some, but it didn't align with my expectations. Cost: * Total: $31.31 (plus a $5 tip) paid upfront--an unusual practice for a sit-down restaurant. Order placed at 6:25 PM. Wisconsin Cheese Curds, Taylor Street Deep Dish Pizza and a fountain drink. Food & Service Experience: Beverages The restaurant has a self-serve beverage station, which is fine in theory, but my experience left much to be desired. I initially chose orange Powerade, only to notice strange specks floating in the drink. I asked for a new cup and switched to lemonade, but this wasn't the best first impression. Wisconsin Cheese Curds ($8.99) I received the curds quickly, which suggests they were likely frozen. The plate contained 18 small curds--comparable to what you'd get at Culver's for less money. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't hold up either. They tasted starchy and lacked the authentic Wisconsin cheese curd texture, more akin to standard mozzarella sticks. Culver's does it better, both in quality and value. 10" Deep Dish Taylor Street Pizza ($14.69 + $5.99 deep-dish surcharge) The pizza arrived at 6:47 PM. First Impressions: It looked unappealing. The menu's photo looked promising , but what I received was burnt-red and sloppily assembled. * Upon lifting a slice, I noticed moisture pooling in the pan--unappetizing and a clear indicator of poor preparation. * The crust was a major disappointment. Thick and undercooked, it seemed rushed in the oven, likely at too high a temperature. It was unenjoyable and ultimately not worth eating. * The toppings were sparse and lacked flavor, except for the peppers, which gave their typical, spicy flavor. Even as a Wisconsinite, I found myself wishing there was less cheese. Overall, the pizza was mediocre at best. At $21, I expected something far superior. Instead, it reminded me of a $10 frozen pizza from Walmart. Additionally, when the pizza was brought to my table, the server handed me a serrated knife and fork with her bare hands. They weren't wrapped in a napkin as is standard at most restaurants. While I'm not much of a germaphobe, this felt like a lapse in proper hygiene and professionalism. Additional Notes: * The square table I sat at was unsteady, making it inconvenient to rest my arms or safely place drinks. * The orange drink I ordered had black specks in it, prompting me to switch to lemonade. Conclusion: The menu claims this is their "famous pizza," but if that's true, I'm left wondering why. Should I have tried the flat crust instead? If this is their flagship offering, it's easy to see why some people dislike this style of pizza. I didn't absolutely hate my meal, but I wouldn't hesitate to throw it away, especially considering the cost.
