I've ordered takeout from here several times. I've tried both the Arcimboldo and the cheese with pepperoni pizzas. Both were really good; they had a thin crust and a flavorful tomato sauce. RI Food Fight Wing review: Don't order the wings! They are too smoked that it felt like I was licking ash. My chicken wing loving husband never leaves a wing behind. We walked away leaving 4 wings to be thrown out. BUT- EAT THE PIZZA! We went with pepperoni. It's good. The food fight coupon brought us in but we will now be customers. Love the atmosphere- eclectic. A mish mash of nostalgia and hip. Goonies was playing on the tv. The music was pushing out classic hits (I walked out rocking to wearing sunglasses at night.) The pinball machines were on par with the theme. When a place has a black toilet- they be fancy. I just like the vibe here. Oh- and if you check in on Yelp here, you get a coupon for a high five. The waiter was very friendly and gave me a " high five" as part of the Yelp free deal! The restaurant has a rather goth/ skater boy look but the ambiance was still nice! The pizza was delicious. As a vegetarian, the only one I could eat was the " Tony Clifton" pizza with ricotta! The combination of ingredients made for a delicious blend of flavors with every bite! They're famous, of course, for their pizza which is delicious, so I wasn't sure what to expect on the wings. They were quite interesting and very yummy. They were smoked, but also very crispy, like they use a light batter on the wings. Limited but good variety of draft beer available. I'm a longtime fan of Julian's so I was hype to see they had a sister restaurant. It did not disappoint, I'm still bowled over by how good of an experience it was! The ambiance was excellent, it was giving 80s arcade vibes. The projector showing monsters inc was a nice touch. We were seated quickly and the service was friendly and fast. They let us sample 3 different beers before deciding which pitcher to go with. My only complaint is the draft beer menu was very interesting and eclectic - honestly I would liked a basic light beer but that's just my preference. The food was 10/10 definitely the best pizza I've ever had in providence. The pepperoni with a side of ranch was delish! Pizza J has consistently been our go to pizza place before the pandemic and definitely during the pandemic for take out. While I missed the cool vibe of eating inside, I appreciate the simplicity of take out. You can easily order on their website and pick up. They have great seitan wings with vegan blue cheese, vegan sausage, and vegan cheese options for plant based eaters. We love to build our own pizza. The portions are large and the pies are tasty. I find my self returning here more often than I expected. The pizza is both delicious & offers some fun combinations of toppings. It's a little on the pricy end but still worth it. The service is good & helpful but can be a little slow depending on how busy it is. The beer choices offer a good mix of local breweries that are worth trying. We ordered the rita and a pepperoni. Both were excellent. I assume the Rita is their take on a Margherita pizza, served with a tomato sauce instead of fresh tomatoes, but I'm sure there are hundreds of variations... and I will note that getting a good fresh tomato that tastes like a tomato is pretty much impossible. Finally made it to Pizza J last week and am so glad that I did! We found ourselves on the West Side of Providence on Labor Day Monday and we were craving pizza so it was time to give Pizza J a whirl. They have seating inside and outside. We wanted to sit outside and it was pretty busy so we had to wait about 20 minutes. We walked around the neighborhood a bit, came back, and boom our table was ready! There was one server waiting on all the tables outside and he was wonderful. He cleared are table right away, had plenty of suggestions for how we could make the pizza our own, and made us feel truly welcomed. Pizza J can split any pizza half and half! We did half cheese and half the Tony Clifton with vegetarian sausage on it. We also split the roasted broccolini to start. The pizza was fresh, bubbling hot, and had that crispy crunchy crust that I love so much. If you find yourself on the West Side of PVD don't sleep on Pizza J! read more

Had to go back and update after Pizza J quickly rose to the top of our "go to" restaurants for dinner in Providence! I just finished out performing in a musical that played down the street from this fantastic eatery, and we basically went here for dinner every night after my performances! Of course, that allowed me to sample a few more menu items, and I felt like the Garlic Fries deserved a review update all of their own! You MUST order these decadent and delightful morsels of garlicky goodness! Hand cut fries topped with garlic aioli, Parmesan cheese, and herbs, all served in a heaping portion that's perfect for sharing - or not! Pro tip: don't plan on kissing anyone after you have these, unless they ate the fries too! The garlic flavor packs a punch! However, they are AMAZING, and one of the best starters I've had at all the casual dining restaurants in PVD. Definitely worth checking out. Extra special shoutout to our server, Martha, who we had tending our table on more than one occasion. She is hysterically funny, attentive, and awesome, and if you can request her as your server when you go, DO IT! We got the Garlic Fries at her excellent recommendation! I've gone here a few times; the pizza is delicious and is a favorite among my office. My only qualm is I made an order for an office party a day in advance and when I went to pick it up at the requested time it was not ready. I was happy to be patient when they said it would only take 15 more minutes but it ended up taking 30 minutes and one of the pizzas was not cut. Decided to try Pizza J because they had a nice beer menu and pizza always works for the kids. Went on a Friday night at 6 expecting it to be packed and to our pleasant surprise, it wasn't!! Basically sat ourselves after being greeted and server came over right away to point out the QR code menu, which I guess is still new to some folks. We were able to get small flights of beers even though they were out of the 4 oz flight glasses (substituted 6 oz pours at no added cost). Server was clearly experienced and was very attentive even though he had about 10 tables. Had the fried chicken sando and it was outstanding! Instead of one giant piece of chicken it had a pair of thin breasts that were perfectly fried (it would have been easy to overcook them). Slaw and ranch complimented the crispy fried goodness. Wife and kids split a roni pie and it was also cooked perfectly. Not greasy and held together well for a thin crust. We even ended up taking a pastry stout home to have by the fire later on. The ratio of crust, sauce, cheese and toppings was just right. Along with a pitcher of Belgium beer to wash it all down. My favorite of all time is the Arcimboldo pizza, red sauce/cheese/olives/artichokes/herbs. Just the fricken best. They have awesome apps- wings, fried mozzarella, tonight we got a fried burrata, an awesome twist! Garlic fries- need no introduction, just order them. But I'm old and it def has a high vibe so it's good and bad. Bad if you're older and can't hear the peeps you're with haha and second Id love it if the tap water was filtered. This was my last stop on Lord of the Pies. I missed this stop for Lord of the Wings so I was excited to come in and finally. The consensus between my partner and I is that Pizza J is a lot of fun, and that we were actually very surprised by the interior. I'm not sure what we expected; from the outside, it appears to only be a pizza counter, but once you step in it's a full blown bar and restaurant with arcade games, projector screens and TV's. Plenty of tables, but confusing that the booth side of the table had no seat cushions. Obviously not a deterrent, but something that we weren't expecting for sure. Took longer for drink service, but it was a busy night & is totally excusable. Same for food --- as long as it comes out hot, we're happy. We ordered the Butternut Squash Soup special, garlic fries, and 1 slice each of cheese and pepperoni. The staff accidentally burnt my partner's slice, but they informed us of the issue and quickly resolved it. The pizza, although a "slice," could have comfortably been two slices. It's a generous portion. The crust was impressive, perhaps the most impressive part of the pizza. Nice and soft, but still firm enough to hold the toppings. Although we were there for pizza, the Butternut Squash soup was the best bite of the night. With hints of tanginess and savoriness, the soup was very pleasant, and just what we needed on a cold night. The menu didn't specify that the garlic fries had a garlic aioli directly drizzled over the fries. I'm not a fan of aioli (my partner is), so that took away from the enjoyment of the fries. To be fair, I should have asked if it came on the side as a dip. I'd definitely come back for pizza again. Hopefully they'll still have the Squash soup! read more
