When we first walked in we were greeted by the bartender/waiter/host who was fantastic. Genuinely warm, genuinely happy to be there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We grabbed seats at the bar, naturally, and the first thing we noticed was how clean the place looked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This spot used to be Midici, run by a great guy named Brian, and if you were anywhere near East Providence and in the mood for pizza, it was the place to go. The crust was always perfectly crispy with that Neapolitan chew, and the wood fired oven was put to great use across the whole menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Toward the end of the Midici era things had started to feel a little run down, borderline dingy. Not anymore. From the dining room to the bathrooms, the whole place has had a real facelift.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]One note: the walls are a little bare. My partner, who is an artist, pointed out that bringing the olive branch motif already present in the table and bar decor to a simple white outline on the walls could be a really lovely touch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered wine and were a little bummed to find a couple of old favorites no longer on the list. In the Midici days, we'd reach for the Tormaresca Chardonnay when we wanted a white, or the Cedar and Salmon when we were in the red mood. We settled on a Chianti and it was quite nice. On to the main event. My partner's usual here is the pesto pizza with ricotta, but a special caught her eye, the Lemon Ricotta and Arugula. It was the highlight of the night. The crust came out beautifully blistered, the arugula was piled fresh and generously across the whole pie, and the combination of big pieces of garlic, lemon zest, and actual lemon slices made for something really bright and satisfying. Honestly, just looking at it made you want to dig in. I went with the Chicken Caesar Salad Pizza, also off the specials menu. The outer crust was spot on, but toward the center things got a little thin and soggy, not quite pick up and eat territory. The toppings were generous but crowded in the middle, leaving the outer edges a little bare. The flavors were good overall, though I'd love more Caesar presence. Not sure what sauce was used as the base, but a proper Caesar dressing might be worth exploring for this one. It's still our favorite spot in the area for pizza, and the new owners have clearly put real care into the place. A little fine-tuning on execution and they'll have something really special on their hands. read more

Served with wood-fired Neapolitan bread topped with balsamic reduction glaze. It did not have the dried apricots, dates, walnuts, or honey. It only had one piece of Gorgonzola and no Parmigiano or Black Truffle cheese. There were 4 pieces of bread. We called the restaurant, and they said to get in touch with Door Dash. The food was really tasty and the vibe in the restaurant was very relaxing. Our server was friendly and checked in on us a few times to see how we were doing and ask if we needed anything. If I could give this place six stars, I would. Went to this place on a whim one night and it was so good we went back a week later and had an equally delectable experience and will now have to practice restraint in regards to returning too often to protect my wallet and waistline. Immediately upon walking in, the aroma envelopes us like a heavenly cloud and I feel myself gain five pounds on the spot. My mouth is watering and my head is light with giddiness about what my senses are telling me will be an unforgettable meal. The smells of dough, garlic, pesto, onions, tomato all emanating from huge, open faced ovens and going straight into my bloodstream. We start with meatballs and garlic bread. Both were excellent and the meatballs came with these little pieces of garlic oil soaked bread that were dangerously good. I ordered the caprese panini and it was cooked to perfection; melted cheese, just enough pesto and arugula and it came with an adorable little salad. My boyfriend got the burrata caprese: super fresh, zero complaints. One of my sons said his spaghetti and meatballs was the best he's ever had (besides his Italian grandparents' as per his usual exemption). My other son had the best broccoli chicken alfredo I have ever tried. The sauce lit up my taste buds and my eyes widened in envy that I had not ordered the same thing and secretly hoped he would get full before finishing it. The pasta itself was also exactly everything I ever want pasta to be; soft but not mushy, firm but not chewy, where the flavor sits on your tongue and not stuck in your teeth. One day I will reward myself after sticking with the gym for a few weeks by ordering two pasta dishes from here and eating them simultaneously while trying not to cry with happiness. #goals Moving on. I must pry myself from the pasta dream and end this food recap with the grand finale that was dessert. When the server laid down all of these unbelievable looking treats, I knew that five pounds was about to be tripled. So worth it. Without a doubt, they make the best cannolis I have ever tasted. And yes, I have been to the Italian food festivals in Boston, the pastry shops in the North End, as well as various other restaurants' cannolis and I believe I can truly sign off on this statement. Not only were they big enough to easily split four ways and everyone have plenty, Madici's has the unequivocal decency and class to add the beautiful, crunchy, and dare I say necessary ingredient of walnuts to their cannolis. *Chef's kiss* The chocolate cake was decadent. By the time I got to the thick outer layer of chocolate frosting covered in chocolate chips, I was choco'd out. Gelato: amazing. And even though as a general rule I am not fan of tiramisu, I tried it and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly and knowledgeable server who picked out exactly the kind of wine I was looking for and was great with the kids. The atmosphere is very open, relaxed, and simply delicious. This was one of the better dining experiences I've had. My wife and ate here while out on vacation and we were so lucky to have because the food was akin to a religious experience. We walked through the door and were immensely greeted by Brian, the owner, who spoke with us about the restaurant and brought us to the host who seated us. The menu is an incredible range of Italian cuisine made simply yet done with passion and from scratch. I ordered the meatballs in marinara along with an order of the garlic lemon shrimp as an appetizer and my wife had the burrata with arugula. The meatballs were so flavorful. Not overmixed, and the spices didn't overwhelm the taste of the meat but complimented it. The shrimp had a nice garlic flavor with just a hint of citrus. For my entree I had the osso bucco. It was amazing. I've been working around food for 25 years and I know the passion that it takes to produce something so flavorful. I honestly wanted to weep it was that good. My wife got the smoked ribs. I'm not a huge rib guy but these were so good and the Mac n cheese but mine to shame. The tiramisu was a nice ending and the Nutella calzone will surprise you in a good way. Brian checked on us throughout our meal as well as other tables as well. The manager, Kristen, came around to see how everything was and Michelle saw to our every need. We ordered the burrata & proscuitto as an appetizer which also came out quickly but was just ok. We both ordered the chicken milanese which also came out in a quickly. It was very tasteless and we had to ask for lemon - the arugula was supposed to be drizzled in lemon, it was not. I had to get up and ask for the lemon as our waiter was at the bar conversing with a patron there. We first found Midici after attending a Yelp elite event there, and thought the place was phenomenal. All the food we had at the event was delicious, the interior was inviting, and the owner and manager were both very personable. We couldn't wait to return to try them again on our own. On subsequent trips, we've had pizza, appetizers of all kinds, drinks, and desserts. Hubby's favorite thing to eat is their super spicy pizza with calabrian chiles, and I have a great time trying a new entree each time I visit. I think one of the most surprisingly delicious items were the spicy chicken wings, which were perfectly cooked, and glazed in a sweet, spicy, tangy sauce. The drinks however, are not to be missed. I fell back in love with Aperol spritzers after having one here, and being reminded of how delicious they are. Their wine and beer list are decent, but I think their mixed drinks are far above average. On our most recent trip, we had a phenomenal mixed drink made with a digestif like amaro, and it was really delicious. Service is excellent, and the location could not be more convenient. The interior is warm, friendly, with clean lines, and interesting decor. The space is beautifully appointed with an indoor tree, as well as their stately ovens, surrounded by organized prep space. The owner and manager have been super friendly to us on every trip, and even during the Yelp elite event, showed us their kitchen. I was impressed with their kitchen cleanliness, and the way that they organize and present their ingredients. Prices are decent for the quality of food, ambiance, and selection. I love seeing how they grow and change as they expand into this location. Mother's day is coming, and they will be having expanded offerings into brunch including pancakes and breakfast pizzas. As scandalous as it might sound, I think that the pizza here is probably the best pizza you can get in Rhode Island. I know that saying quite a bit, and others might argue against this statement, but I would challenge them to give this pizza a try and not walk away feeling changed. Bottom line, Midicis is the perfect blend of approachable everyday elegance, in a family friendly atmosphere, offering deliciously appetizing options, with better then expected variety, for a competitive price and with excellent service. I was pleasantly surprised by MidiCi Italian Kitchen. the restaurant is clean,modern, and spacious. they offer in and outdoor seating. The customer photo tree adjacent to the main entrance was also a nice touch. The staff were incredibly friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable about the menu. The meals are delivered in record time. the meal portions and prices were comparable to local competitors. I would highly recommend the Penne Con Stracotto. Also, to any men out there looking to dump you're long-term girlfriend this is The perfect place to do it. you'll have easy access to the parking lot for a quick escape. Absolute hidden gem. Based on the logo and location I thought something more fast casual or canned Italian restaurant vibes. Walking in I was immediately impressed. Open kitchen with a variety of high top, low top, bar and even big plush chair seating options. The food was fairly priced and delicious. My friend and I eat got a salad -I ordered the purple kale and spinach and she got the cobb both had amazing portion sizes! Such fabulous customer service. I would come here just for the good vibes. The owners are present and engaged, living into the "you tell me" (i.e. "midici") mindset, collaborating with their clientele to offer the best experience. It FEELS like a happy place, and sometimes we all just need to escape somewhere happy. But thankfully, the food also is worth coming for! The pizza is great, the salads are beautiful, the desserts --especially their ricotta parfait (oh man, DO IT)-- are really delicious. I've had a few of the pizzas. My fav's are the pepperoni (and the Devil's pizza...I like spicy) and the truffle pizza. The last time I was there my friend ordered a gluten free pizza, and the crust was so good, we honestly couldn't tell the difference. I feel like the gelato is a little lacking... it's too solid for my liking (I think gelato should have that light, whipped appearance and shouldn't be rock solid), so if you're a gelato snob like me, you might be disappointed. Don't expect a thicker type bread with this - like I said, it's like a pizza. The bottom was also burnt here. Tiramisu was really tasty but small for $8. The Nutella calzone was disappointing to me. There was so much dough it was hard to eat it was a fork and knife, and eating with hands was also tough because of the blueberry compote. I think the combo of compote and Nutella was too much. Even garlic bread and the popular Bruschetta tasted better than most. Had a simplicity yet bite to them that is hard not to appreciate. The pizza selection is golden. My only observation might be helpful to have a sign at the back/side door instructing folks coming in that way to check-in at the front desk. We debated ordering a pasta dish - but there was a buy one-get one opening week pizza deal!! Our margherita had their famous delicious crust and we really enjoyed it (surprisingly, the next day leftovers seemed to lack enough cheese, and it was a bit bland when eaten cold). The double pepperoni we knew was exceptional - but here too, the cheese and meat were added with a kind of light hand. Served hot it was perfect; no leftovers to compare! The space is lovely, service and food are just right. However, I am not a fan of the screamed out welcome - here, at CVS, or anyplace else. I think it disturbs those seated already, and doesn't add any real feeling of being appreciated for newcomers. I have gone to MidiCi several times. We were looking for someplace to have lunch and decided to go there as they have several salad options and pizza to accommodate both of our tastes! I got the purple kale and ricotta salad-it was quite large and very filling! The dressing was delicious. I just wish that it had more dates in it! But I would definitely get it again. My fiancé got the pizza and he thought it was really good. We also got an order bruschetta - which was tasty but they could've use significantly less oil on it. It was swimming in a pool of it. I do like how everything is made to order, the staff is always pleasant and they have the most comfortable chairs to sit in! First time here. I thought everything was very cute. I liked the open kitchen concept for the pizzas and the environment was nice too. Pizza was excellent. We had the chicken pesto and the prosciutto and truffle. My only negatives from the experience (and this first is a personal opinion), is that the tables were very narrow. We were seated in a corner table by the window and I noticed the window sills were very dirty and could use a bit more attention. Lastly, the door to the women's restroom didn't lock.
