Horrible. This is not top notch pizza. They used to have carry out specials which were amazing for the low quality pizza but now they are severely over charging. They had a medium one topping for 8.99; large one topping for 9.99; and x large with one topping for 10.99. Tonight they charged $12 for a medium plain pizza (no toppings) and it is same mediocre pIzza. Raise the quality of the pizza if you are going to charge much more. The place was not busy at all The idiot that took my order tried to give me an attitude when asking what size steak and cheese i wanted . I told his ass no onions , when i got it mofo put onions in there. Wtf ... I didn't even bother going back inside because I was hungry and he just didnt seem friendly to complain to becauze he would have copped an attitude. but it'll be my last time here . Worst customer service. I called to inquire if it was in fact accurate that it would take a delivery time of 50-60minutes. We had already paid for our pizza to be delivered and we live pretty close by but to save us the trouble of going to pick up the pizza (hence the point of delivery) we called to see if it would take that long for our pizza to get to us. Their personnel was so rude asking why we couldn't go pick it up ourselves ?! Are you serious ?! Why would we pay for delivery for us to pick it up? Earlier today, we hosted a birthday party a few blocks away with about 15 kids and their parents. Earlier in the day, I ordered a bunch of pizzas from Pizza Movers, to be delivered at a specific time. Pizza Movers went out of their way to make sure that we had enough food for all of our guests--actually giving us additional pizza at no cost because they were concerned my order wasn't enough! I was blown away by this level of customer service. Moreover, the pizza was delicious. I have always enjoyed Pizza Movers, but I am now a loyal customer for life! P.S. We've been living in Takoma Park for almost a year now. When we first moved to the neighborhood, I noticed this place right away because it's right there at the corner of Eastern Ave and Carroll/Laurel. Maybe Pizza Movers is the reason at least 27% of the drivers at that 4-Way STOP... just... don't. Okay, they probably have nothing to do with those morons, but the people inside this place could use something like an attitude adjustment. In our first few weeks living here in what I now lovingly refer to as "The Gateway to Langley Park" (we are beyond the hospital and across Flower), finishing up the move and getting situated called for pizza several times. Since I had seen this place and it looked awesome (PIZZA in neon ALWAYS looks awesome), I figured I'd bust out of the PapaJ's conformity that I've lived in for so long and give Pizza Movers a try. I mean, as a new Takoma Park resident (even without a Subaru or a beard), I might even be labeled as a corporate pizza loyalist or something worse for not locally sourcing my pizza, right? I had a couple of good orders here. The pizza was okay. It's hard to do pizza very wrong for a long time and I believe this place has been here for quite a while. The prices were also pretty good. Then, why the bad review? Oh right, the attitude thing! I had yet another occasion where pizza seemed like a good plan and called Pizza Movers to order ahead for pickup on my way home. When the guy answered, he continued talking with someone else there in the kitchen or wherever they answer the phone. This is, of course, rude. It's also no way to run a business where you're taking orders over the phone. Since I'm the type that is easily offended by this sort of thing (after running a few businesses where phones were part of the scene), I spoke up with, "are you ready for me now or do you want me to call back later!?" (heavy on the snark). The guy tried to go ballistic on me for daring to call him out. I quickly and curtly cut him off to remind him that he had answered the phone to take my order. He began to go off again, so I hung up. I've never called back. This review was sitting in my drafts for the last 8 months or so because that's how much I really care... only I found myself with a few free minutes responding to follower/friend requests here on Yelp and decided to plow through ALL my drafts. Um, I love Pizza Movers. We used to get it once a week, and it used to be $7 for a large pizza! That's only if you pick up, keep in mind. The price doubles if you have it delivered. Now it's $8,but the pizza is huge, and it's gooooood. I am an authority because pizza is my favorite food, so, you know, you should believe what I say. We are one block in on the Maryland side, not the DC side of Eastern Ave. We have $$$ and want to give it to you...right now! No delivery.... "We won't deliver to THAT building." Hangs up. I do enjoy the pizza, but the customer service is seriously lacking. I ordered a pizza-- half cheese, half mushroom and olive-- and cheesy breadsticks and what I received was a pizza with half olives and half mushrooms and a soggy sub roll with mozzarella cheese melted in it. Ordered delivery. The young lady answering the phone was patient and helpful. The delivery person had a wonderful smile, was friendly, yet professional, and left by saying, "thank you for calling Pizza Movers!" Okay, they have a pretty good staff The pizza, extra cheese with sausage and garlic, was only (and barely) okay. Asked for extra cheese, though it didn't appear on the pizza. The sausage quite frankly, had very little taste. The garlic was GREAT. Also ordered BBQ Wings. AWESOME! And they come with potato wedges! Bonus! It's an OK place. If you want simple and basic, yes, this is it at a good price. Inside smells awful. The younger girl there isn't very good with communication. Not very good with English. I recently moved to the area and drive by this establishment often. Last night, I decided to go with a friend of mine who happens to be African-American. I was treating him for his birthday. (It was probably around 9:30pm or so.) We walked in, and we were the only customers. No one was in line, they weren't busy. (*side-note** the place looks dirty on the inside, like it needs to be professionally cleaned or something....) My friend ordered something, like a gyro or sub - I don't recall. But I do recall my friend asking what kind of sauce they put on the sub. The person taking the order told my friend the name of the sauce, but my friend still wasn't sure what it was, so he wanted to order the sauce on the side. My friend VERY POLITELY asked them if he could see what the sauce looks like, before he ordered it. The man who took his order (I believe he is the owner, but I haven't verified that yet) was very impatient and he said "The sauce is white." My friend again, very politely said "I know what color it is, but can I just see what it looks like before I order it?" Again, the man taking the order impatiently shrugged his shoulders, and said "Why? I just told you what it looks like!" (Now keep in mind, the place was EMPTY - no one was in line behind us, no phones were ringing. It was dead in there) The person taking the order then huffed and muttered something while walking away, he then proceed to go about 20 feet back, picked up a non-transparent container which is NOT see through (about the size of a gallon of ice cream) held it up and said "See! It's in here! This is what it looks like!" and them he put it back on the shelf and walked back up to the counter. My friend then said very patiently and politely, "Sir, I still can't see it..." (Keep in mind, my friend is a black guy, wearing a hoodie because it was chilly outside. He is very soft spoken, very polite and very non-confrontational) By this time, I could no longer hold my tongue. I said, "So you're saying that you can't show a customer the sauce that he is about to order from you? What is so hard about that? We're about to give you our money...." (I wasn't that polite or patient, to be honest...but it was at that point that I already knew that I was not going to EVER give them any of my hard earned money. EVER.) Then the lady who was supposed to be making the order started yelling at us in another language ( I won't try and guess) and in some English "Why?! Why do you want to see?!?!? We told you what it looks like...." and some other random, non-relevant stuff. After that, i don't know what I said, I kinda sorta blacked out and saw red. My friend was calming me down, so I just said "Let's go. They're not getting a penny of my money...) and walked out. Now, I'm NOT going to say that they are racist, because I cannot prove it. However, I can truly say they were very RUDE, unprofessional and combative - which was very unnecessary. My friend is very soft spoken, very polite, and never said anything rude to them, not once. So, I can't help but wonder....If my friend was a white guy wearing a suit, and kindly asked to see the sauce he was about to order - would they have had the same response? This is seriously the most rude place in the world. We get pizzas from here a lot, simply because it's cheap and close by, and we get tired of the chain pizzas. I've probably been here 30 times in the last 2 years. Yet Every. Single. Time. they don't say hello, are gruff, and sound irritated. They mess up orders frequently. You have to make them repeat the order back to you over the phone to have a chance at them getting it right (though they get upset when you ask them to do that). If a local pizza place set up shop here and offered even a basic level of customer service, as well as half decent pizza, they would make a killing. Takoma Park is such an awesome downtown, it's a shame they don't have another place -- something like We the Pizza -- to offer a bit of competition. Notice that out of 65 reviews it has 2 stars? There's a reason for that. We live in Takoma, and all our neighbors agree that it's a travesty a place like this exists in our neighborhood. The people who work there are the most unpleasant, angry people you will ever come across. We presume they only stay in business because they are cheaper than anyone else in the area (serving mediocre pizza - not horrible, not good). And I guess there is always a market for cheap pizza. But, seriously, we wish everyone would just boycott them in hopes that they close down, and let another pizza place come in that is run by people who are able to show just basic levels of politeness, where picking up a pizza would be a simple, pleasant affair. Their pizza is alright I've been getting it for a year now. My issue today is that I'm dog sick and my husband went out to get some pizza with my card and they denied him any. He showed them both my credit card and my passport I.D card to see if they can accept payment that way, still got denied. I understand the whole security thing but he has my passport card to show that he didn't steal my credit card. Like I said I'm very sick today and I wish they made an exception to this because one I'm sick and I can't show up my self to get pizza in this cold, 2 he showed a secondary ID, 3 at the time we are not in a financial situation where we can have money in both accounts.
