Birria
Chris D.

I've had the pop up pizza and decided to go to the location in downtown silver spring. The downtown location has so many unique choices! It has been a consistently great pizza. The dough is soft, almost like a Neapolitan dough? The crust is firm but soft as well. Get the street corn pizza! It is so uniquely good. The sauce on top is the kicker, but it is great. Both a mix of sweet and savory. I decided to try the birria pizza as well. It has a heavy cilantro taste, but I like cilantro and shredded beef. It also came with a dipping sauce. The pop up is more limited, so I would recommend coming to the physical location to try something new!

The pizza was ready fast, cooked well and not burnt. We loved the flavors of the cheese, corn and drizzle. Crust was pleasantly chewy. Appreciate the pop-up and food truck locations at local bars and breweries!

Pepperoni and mushrooms.

Solid quality pizza with a soft crust. I'd rate it as a 7.2 out of 10. This place is in a food hall. Lots of meal selections. My go to for consistency.

OK, so I have mixed feelings about this review because I think I selected the wrong dinner,…read moreeveryone else in our group of 4 seemed to thoroughly enjoy everything they ordered and the place was busy, so thats only reason getting a 4. If I was going on my solo experience, rating would be a 2. It is a bit noisy, not from music, just poor acoustics because its all hard surfaces in a tall empty space and nothing to absorb sound which was generated from the din of patrons especially the busier it got, so hearing conversations was little hard once more people filled the inside space. Place was clean and the cashier snd service people were very pleasant. I've never been to either Piccoli locations, but was introduced to this after suggestion from our friends who live nearby & patronize since they've opened. You order at counter and if you're eating there, they give you a number to put on your table & someone brings you the food. They have both indoor and a nice outdoor seating with umbrellas at the outer tables. A pretty goid sized outdoor soace too. I was SUPER surprised at how fast our food came out. Was my pizza even cooked? Well mine wasn't even hot!! My husband pizza was hot, so again, just me having the bad experience. All the other entrees looked steaming. I just got the bad meal deal I guess. I ordered the Inverno which was white pizza with goat cheese, brussel sprouts and caramelized onions & herbs. I think someone forgot any flavoring. Very bland, not hot from the oven and just didn't do anything for me. Just on that alone, i have no desire to return. Very disappointing. Couldn't eat the bare edges as to me, the dough was lackluster. And i LOVE a good dough! My hubby got the Tutte Carne pizza which he thought was very good. He liked the texture, softness & dough flavor, pepperoni were slightly spicy, but not too bad. Our friends ordered pasta and salad dishes which they seemed to enjoy & looked delicious (salad chicken Milanese, Pomodoro, and Bolognese without the ricotta).

Leave aside the daily specials, which no longer exist. What really bothers me is that Pete's charges an extra 3% fee if you don't pay in cash (this includes both credit and debit cards) -- and they charge you another fee, which is almost 5%, if you you don't dine in. If you order online, I think also hit you with yet another "convenience" or "service" fee; check the fine print on your receipt, since the fee is bundled together with taxes. Look, I get that everyone's expenses are up. I get that to-go bags and boxes aren't free. But I hate being nickeled and dimed.

This place is a joke -- where do I even begin?…read more We made reservations for a table on the covered patio this past Friday at 5:30 p.m. My wife, our two kids, and I arrived right on time, and the patio was mostly empty: two tables of four were occupied, while five other tables of four sat empty, along with a few high-tops and seats at the bar. The host was a bit gruff, but initially it didn't seem like a big deal. She seated us all the way in the back of the patio, directly in the path of the setting sun. Since there were plenty of open tables in shaded areas, we politely asked if we could move. We were told no because those tables were "reserved." We reminded the staff that we also had a reservation and asked why we couldn't sit at one of those tables instead. It's not like we walked in without one expecting special treatment. The host just kept repeating, "I'm sorry, but those tables are already reserved." They offered to move us inside or to the front side of the restaurant, but refused to seat us anywhere else on the covered patio. After more back-and-forth, the host finally relented with an annoyed, "That's fine, we can just adjust," and walked us over to a table that had technically still been occupied moments earlier. We then awkwardly stood there waiting for the diners to gather their things and leave while the staff rushed to clean the table. Once we sat down, the host came back out visibly upset, loudly rearranging and slamming tables while muttering to herself -- the only word I clearly caught was "unbelievable." She was obviously unhappy with us. The absurd part is that the "adjustment" she made was incredibly simple: she turned two four-top tables into a two-top and a larger table seating seven. Even after that, two other four-top tables remained untouched. During our meal, one of those tables was given to a mother and her young son, and the other to two dads and their daughters. So I'm still not sure why we were treated as though accommodating us was impossible. The rest of the staff honestly seemed just as uncomfortable with the situation as we were. The food itself was fine, but at that point we probably should have left. I've never been treated with this level of disrespect and disdain at a restaurant before. I honestly don't understand why the host was so determined to stick us in the back. Was it because we had a baby? Or because we didn't fit the racial profile of the clientele they want to attract? Either way, we won't be back.

The cashiers were very friendly and welcoming, even convinced me (with minimal arm twisting) to buy a super soft chocolate chip cookie they had at the register I was so hungry I ate 2 slices on the car ride home! Pizza was delicious, toppings were fresh, it's just a little too greasy for me. I'll definitely order from there again, but I'll ask for extra napkins for dabbing and putting on my seat cushion so it doesn't leak through. The cookie was divine!

Now, in having Potomac as my favorite, I might nonetheless steer you to their classic cheese pizza, which has that nice look with the bubbled up cheese. They also offer vegan cheese and they probably do the best job out of the 2-3 places that offer vegan cheese. I have also tried and liked their Greek pizza, especially, and also the spinach-ricotta. I think they do best when you choose a cheese-forward pizza. I would stay away from their vegetable pizza unless you like a pizza that is very ingredient-forward. For me, it's not cheesy enough and the crunchiness of the broccoli on it contrasted too much in terms of texture. I would also not go for the wings; they're fine, but very overpriced. I'm glad we recently gave them a chance and may be my new go to for delivery.
