I've been here probably 15 times since the place has opened and have NEVER been disappointed. The braised lamb shank has completely spoiled me from ever having it elsewhere with its fall off the bone tender moist flavorful meat and the huge helpings of veggies and potatoes to go with it. I also love their spicy chicken wrap with the aioli sauce, they make it with a made from scratch wrap that's made from their pizza dough yet it looks like a tortilla, yummy goodness on a plate with a nice spicey kick of aioli. Went here for my first time ever with my boyfriend since he always talks about it with me. Even though it was drizzling outside, they were showing an old Disney movie outside which was delightful. We only had to wait about 15 minutes most for a Friday night (or some other day since I forgot the actual day). We got seated, got those amazing garlic balls which were really hot but really good. We got our drinks, placed our orders and about 25 minutes most we were eating. Both my boyfriend and I were ordered sandwiches. He got the Jalapeno BBQ Chicken wrap and I got the Spicy Chicken Wrap. We tried each others dinner and they were both simply amazing. I must say that the service was pretty good for a Friday evening (or some day...I honestly forgot the actual day). The food was hot and tasted fresh. The waiter was there only 5 times between the time we got seated to the time we paid. Great pizza, service was a little strange when we asked for the beers on tap and we were told "yes," my husband asked if they had local microbrews, "ya, all of them." Had a pretty decent meal. I had the chicken club wrap, which was pretty awesome. . The kids orderd a cheese pizza and pasta. Decent size portions for $5. I personally didn't like the marinara. This place is great! My wife took me here for my birthday and I had the pepperoni white pizza and some yummy craft beers. The food was great and the waitress was friendly, but not overly friendly and annoying, just super helpful and attentive. The pizza was loaded which ricotta and the dough was tasty. We also had some wings, which I'm always really skeptical of from pizza places, but these exceeded my expectations. All around, it was a great experience. My friend and I came here for an early dinner to score some happy hour deals. Okay and because we were hungry at 4:30. They have some good deals on beer - I think the happy hour price was $4 but there is also a monthly $3 special. This month's special was some sort of darkish ale, that's about the extent of my beer knowledge. Select appetizers are also $4. We tried the fried calamari and the mac & cheese which were both quite good. We also shared the portobello and pancetta pizza which I really liked. This review is for the San Marcos location. My sister and I had dinner there the other day. Overall, it was a great experience. I ordered a Kettle One vodka on the rocks. It was a VERY skimpy serving. I don't know exactly what they charged me for it, but it wasn't worth it. I switched to a beer after that. For appetizers, I had the 6" happy hour pizza - pepperoni and sausage. I must tell you that it was excellent! The crust was thin, with a little bit of char, and a bit crispy but not too much. I really want to go back and get a full-sized pizza to see if it's as good. Best pizza I've found so far in the San Marcos, CA area. My sister had a salad, which she said was very good. For entrees, I had the chicken picata, and my sister had the sun-dried tomato & pesto linguine with goat cheese pasta. Both were very good. Our server was Jasimine. She was awesome! Very attentive, nice, knowledgeable and cute. But here's the catch, and why I rated it only 3 stars. It was VERY expensive. For the two of us, the final bill was $65 plus tip! I mean.. it was good, but that's a very high price to pay. I've learned that their 10" to 14" pizzas are $14-$20. That's twice the price of other pizzas in the area. Yummy!! The three of us wanted a salad and pizza and we got what we wanted! Oh come on, the garlic knots of buttery joy were delicious too. I've been to Pizza Nova plenty of times over the past few years. Strangely, I'm not a fan of the pizza. The house salad is what I come here for now. It is literally so good and I usually despise salad. The bread rolls they give you as the appetizer are amazing, except for the fact I usually eat too many of them before my actual meal comes... I've tried a few types of their pastas, and they're all good. I never really understood buying pasta somewhere because it tastes the same as what we can make at home, but since their pizza isn't that great I stick with pasta. It is a little expensive. I think the salad is $10 and they don't offer half portions. I paid $22 for two salads and one pasta tonight... eh. But the service is typically good and I've rarely had to wait a long time. Stopped in the first time to have lunch. The service was quite slow and took about 5-10 minutes before we were greeted by a server but after the initial wait it wasn't too bad. I also think there was maybe only two servers in the entire place. I ordered the chicken nice club with fries as well as a sunshine cooler. The chicken club is essentially a chicken sandwich on pita bread. It wasn't bad, I just think there was nothing about the sandwich that set itself apart from anywhere else so I wouldn't order it again (although it's huge and can definitely feed more than one person). Pizza Nova, clearly one of the best food, staff, and price combinations in North County. All the servers are great. Kelley is my favourite, always attentive to my groups needs. My business is in Escondido, although not real close it is great place to take staff and clients. Adrien is great manager, staff knows how to keep every customer happy. Have eaten in all the restaurants in Escondido, including Ventana. Ventana expensive but good food and atmosphere. Nothing really beats service, food quality, and price than Pizza Nova. We patron this restaurant frequently and always have a good experience. Today, a few things went array...the Greek salad which typically has the crumbled feta cheese cane in four big chunks. Also, our dessert was to have crumbled almond sugar cookies as a topping were missing. None of the servers were able to answer our inquiries. By far the best pizza place around. Tried it out for the first time Tuesday (yesterday). I was immediately greeted and warmly sat by the hostess, and the service was great! Waiters are smiling all the time and provided me the care i expect when i go out to eat. As for the food, i am pleased. The bread rolls are to die for as always, but the pizza was a little burnt (i like mine under cooked). Beer was fantastic and salad was delicious. I have go to items for most places that are in my eating zone and for Pizza Nova it's the Pepperoni White Pizza with a side salad and the baked garlic appetizer. The Best Salad is always fresh and crisp and is honestly large enough for a meal on its own if you added some protein to it. There's a million salads out there just like this one but Pizza Nova has never disappointed me with too much dressing or crappy wilted lettuce. The Pepperoni White Pizza is a gooey garlicky plate of YUM. I want to high 5 the waiter when my pizza is brought to the table. There's something about a place that knows to add 4 additional cheeses to their Alfredo sauce topped pizza that makes me happy inside. But my all-time favorite thing here, the thing that keeps me coming back for more is their baked garlic appetizer. I have a love for garlic and to be able to spread warm baked garlic and soft goat cheese over toasted sourdough... And, and and you get a side of their pesto to add to the mix. Sigh... I need a moment to take it all in. I bake garlic at my house and it's okay but my oven clearly doesn't know the magic that Pizza Nova's oven knows because mine never comes out so perfectly even. I'm sad I'm not there right now drinking a glass of white and waiting for my food to come. I wish I had it in me to try other things when I go here but I haven't yet OD'd on my favorites so it's hard to pull me away from them. It is a goal of mine to eat my way through the menu. Ok lets start with the positive things: This is not your usual standard pizza palor or take out. The place is 1st of all is humugous, modern and leanding towards industrial design similar to Extraordinary desserts if you've been there. I give 5 stars for this environment and design. The house salad I had with their lunch special was truly amazing unless you know those teeny sm bowl of salad they give you like the one today at noodles & Co I swear was like some baby bowl. The salad I got was hugh enough for 2 ppl and had these glazed walnuts and apple julienne with some balsamic vinegrette that was so awesome I totally forgot about the pizza. Now here is where they can really improve(hope manangement is reading this) the pizza was kinda ok because there was hardly any sauce so it seemed like it was just crust n cheese but the crust was good with cornmeal and the cheese was really fresh. So the reason pizza nova did not get the full 5 stars is the pizza was not really up to snuff. I'd give it 3.5 stars, but I'll bump it up cause our service was better than others reported (although it was late and they weren't busy). The food was pretty good. We ordered 2 of them, the pepperoni white sauce and the goat cheese. I liked the taste of the pepperoni white, but felt like they skimped on the toppings. There was 1 pepperoni per slice on the pie. This place is a good value for those with kids. Their kid's menu is really inexpensive, includes a drink, and they offer cheap sundaes for dessert. Two kids, who were disappointed that we turned into the Spaghetti Factory parking lot but weren't going there, both gave their kid's pastas a big thumbs up, so that says something. It's worth checking out if you have the BOGO coupon, as it lets you try 2 different 10" pizzas for the price of one. I'd also come here for the pizza/salad lunch special. This is the third and last time I'll go to this Pizza Nova. My fiancé and I went the other night, and I ordered ravioli bolognese and asked for a "little extra sauce". My fiancé got the lamb stew. When the food came out, I was shocked to see a huge pasta bowl filled to the rim with sauce, and raviolis floating in it. I could not believe both the food server and cook let something go out this way. It looked like soup. I mentioned that to the server and she just laughed and walked away. Huh? Anyways, I decided to give it a chance. When I pulled a ravioli out of the dark stewy sauce and put it into my mouth I almost gagged. Now, I'm not picky. I love great sauce but can even appreciate Prego. But this sauce was awful. Firstly, it was burnt! Blgh. It tasted like the cook burned the sauce and tried to remedy it by adding weird spices. Anyways, it was terrible. My fiancé's lamb stew was in a huge bowl and the lamb was swimming in heavy oil. It was disgusting. It wasn't as bad as mine, but we both left feeling sick. Also, the service wasn't that great. The server was nice enough but should have noticed our grossed out reaction when she asked us how our meals were. Beyond that, I haven't had anything else I was really sold on, so we go there once a month and just get the same thing these days. This is important: Every time we go there, there are always tons of kids all over. It is almost like it is Chuck-E-Cheeses. Why there? Parents bring their kids and just let them go outside and romp around all over. I don't understand it and it actually is a big turn-off for me. I have slowed going there because of this (being that I have no kids). Perhaps a kid will get hurt outside on that huge concrete block, their parents will sue the complex owners and then they will put a stop to it. FYI - they cannot serve Spaghetti or Chicken Parmesan due to a contractual limitation since they are in the same plaza as The Old Spaghetti Factory. I gave this place so many chances. I got their wraps while huge - size of a burrito. They were soggy and the tortilla tasted really artificial and processed. If you've had good tortillas you would understand my gripe. I gave their salads a chance, the chipotle one had a great dressing on it as well as toppings it just wasn't very filling and for 15+ for a salad I don't want to have to order more food. Their Cesar salad is very plain and but again the dressing is greats their garlic knots are ok definitely a filler but free with all orders. However their marinara sauce needs some work, it's better and a little flavorless. The pizza is not that amazing, just generic thing crust pizza. I wanted to get the Italian Meat pizza but we decided on the Pepperoni White Pizza instead. I wasn't too impressed by this pizza and was wishing we had gone with something with more meat. Came here on a Friday night knowing we would have a wait. We were given the option to wait (about 20 minutes) or be seated at the counter right away. The seats at the counter have backs to them and are pretty comfortable. The counter overlooks the chefs making the pizzas. Super fun. Pizza Nova serves complimentary garlic knots while you wait for your meal and honestly this is the reason my kids love to eat here. The boys ordered a turkey sandwich to split which came with a choice of three sides (pasta salad, fruit, or kettle chips). My boys went with the fruit. Only bummer was they didn't actually split it on two plates for us, but no big deal. I ordered the "best" salad and had to have most of the items in it removed since I'm watching my food intake and they don't have a generic salad option. The server was great though and accommodated my request. I added chicken breast to it and got the dressing on the side (I believe it is normally tossed in the salad). Our server was friendly and kept our drinks refilled. Food was good and the price was pretty reasonable. They do have outdoor seating and we saw a bunch of kids running around in the grass area nearby so it is a great spot to bring kids and they can get their energy out while you eat. read more
