Excellent pizza! I got the Tony Special ( I think that's what it's called.) it was piping hot and ooey gooey, cheesy delicious. I called in an order for a turkey sub. They told me it would be about 15 minutes. I am staying in a nearby hotel and walked to Rocco's, took about 10 minutes. My sandwich was ready when I arrived! Much to my enjoyment and surprise, the 12" sub was only $8.95, and it's April 2026! It is perhaps the best value in north county for a sandwich. I have had better sandwiches at East Coast Pizza in Cardiff, they actually IMO have the best sandwich anywhere, but it's there and I am here. Rocco's turkey sub is way better than a lot of places though, and priced very nicely for what you get. Everything was fresh, flavorful, the quality was great, and the value is supreme! Great service too, very friendly people. 10/10 highly recommend Rocco's Pizza Deli and I wish I had known of them sooner. Pizzas were amazing as well as the cookies! Super friendly and understanding staff who go above and beyond for their customers. I work in National City and finished at 7pm today and its a long drive, and Mon-Thu they close at 7:30pm. I called in after lunch time and asked if I could pick up the pizza at 7:30 pr a bit sooner, she agreed without hesitation and had a nice conversation with me about the neighborhood and apartments. I made it there by 7:20pm, I expected them to close the ovens by 7pm and my pizza to be cold, but they actually were timing it for 7:30pm and were just finishing it up, with oven running hot. I just called this Rocco's Pizza and Deli Restaurant right now and I talked to this husband Rocco. I explained to him that he gave me really bad customer service in just staring at me and his wife Linda also. The both said nothing to me when I walked into their restaurant that was last Friday on June 2, 2023 at 2:20 p.m. Rocco who is Linda's husband he answered the phone a few minutes ago after their phone rang 3 times. Rocco said he remembers me now and he is blaming my actions towards him and his wife on me. He said I acted agitated NO that is not the truth. Rocco did say he is sorry but he said they have been business for 40 years and if I feel I was not served well by him and his wife Linda then to try another Pizza place. I warned him and I told him today, he doesn't know who will be walking into his restaurant like myself I am an Elite 2023 Status Reviewer for 5 years now. I told Rocco this is the first time I have ever received really (poor customer service) from any restaurant that I have eaten out at or even had my food delivered by a Delivery Service. Rocco is putting the blame on me in telling me that I was very agitated when I walked into their restaurant. No I was not AGITATED at all! Rocco told me to go to another Pizza Restaurant. I said Yes I will and I will never go back to their Pizza and Deli Restaurant again. First Impressions Count with me. When I am treated with no respect from a restaurant owner and his wife. I will not spend my money at that specific Pizza Restaurant again. Rocco could have made things right with me. Rocco should have said to me he apologizes for his rude behavior and his wife Linda too being very unfriendly to me their new customer. Rocco's comment to me today said it all. This place is surprisingly good. Like, better than any right that you think it should have to be. Located off the main road of Rancho Santa Fe, in a bit of a more industrialized part of town, is Rocco's Pizza Deli. After moving into the area, it always gave me the impression that it may be a front for some other kind of business. That, coupled with so many other pizza places to try in the area, and I've never gotten the chance to come here until recently. So, one fateful Monday when Union was closed and the kids were demanding a slice of cheese, I remembered this spot off the beaten path. Finding they had more than just pizza, I chose a Roast Beef Sandwich. They didn't have cheddar, having only Mozzarella and one other white cheese I can't remember as an option, so I chose to go without. The bread was soft, with a good and chewy crust, and full of flavor. With plenty of meat, all the fixings, and a nice dressing to bring it all together, it was a pretty damn good sandwich. My son opted for a Meatball Sub, one of his favorite things to order anywhere. Rocco's iteration of this sandwich ranked high up on his list and he ate it all quickly. He noted that he'd rather have the meatball sub at another local shop, but he preferred the bread here by a long shot. My daughter got the aforementioned Cheese Pizza. The crust was surprisingly flavorful and a good amount of mozzarella gave it a nice and chewy texture. Not the best, but easily better than average. She enjoyed enough to eat two whole pieces. On the side, we got two bags of store-bought chips and a chocolate chip cookie. Pretty standard deli fare, though the cookie was very dry and a bit underwhelming. All in all, i'm a little sad we hadn't come here sooner. While it doesn't match up to a couple of other spots in the area, it's still very cheap and a good alternative if other pizza is unavailable, or someone in your party would rather have a sandwich or entrée instead of a slice. I will have to come back in the future and try some of their other pizzas to see if they are up to snuff. read more

But most importantly, the gentleman who delivered didn't have the necessary change and refused a more than fair tip for services which left him short of the total purchase price by like $4. We have been ordering from this location for more than 9 years. The last year or so have been nothing but under cooked pizza and cardboard wings. My daughter nearly choked having the wings stuck with melted cardboard attached. I don't know if this is new management or just a lack of quality service. Love this spot. Mom and Pops pizza shop with solid pizza. Also the best spot to get a giant pizza without ordering in advance. Just understand it is a mom and pops shop, so sometimes the service can be slower and sometimes it takes longer to get a pizza. Been here 30+ times and it's consistently good. Maybe got one or two pizzas that was not up to their standard, but still decent. And to the person who commented that Costco is 1/5 the price, taste better, and a better value - I disagree. First, the $24 Rocco special has 5 toppings (including handmade sausage) and Costco only sell Pepperoni and Cheese pizza now, so can't compare. Costco pizzas are super greasy now imo (compared to pre pandemic times). Lastly, 1/5 the price of $24 is $4.80, and not $10 - the cost of a Costco pizza. I can agree the wings are not great, but wouldn't say that no one would them. For some reason I feel the need to defend this local spot from that exaggerated review. Plus they give you a 2 liter bottle if you order a large pizza or bigger! Haven't tried the sandwiches or pastas from here yet. I would recommend this spot for Pizza! First of all I really don't leave reviews because most places are just average. Only the outliers trigger me to leave one. Rocco's has the perfect crispy crust with fluffy inside, perfectly slightly chewy and stringy cheese. Not too much but just right! Plenty of toppings a little on the expensive side but SOOOOO worth it and perfectly justified! This ain't your average Dominos or Pizza Hut. Go check them out. It's clearly a mom and pop shop, and in these troubled times, with billions in goverment money only going to banks and large corporations, I hate to badmouth any small, independent businesses. So, I'll be nice. The calzone was as big as a football. It was seriously, seriously big. On the other hand, it was not exactly bursting with flavor and it was also the first calzone I've ever eaten with Canadian bacon in it (as advertised so there was no bait and switch). But I really expected more flavor from the sauce. On the positive side, the eggplant parmesan sandwich was good sized and was pretty darn tasty. The eggplant was tender and the flavor was nice. I haven't tried the pizza but that appears to be their specialty and you get a six pack of soda thrown in for free with every large pizza ordered. Can't argue with that deal. Very good local pizza from a wonderful mom & pop pizzeria. This isn't gourmet brick oven and it's not mass market chain pizza. It's somewhere in between and is perfect for a family pizza night. The pizza was made fresh and fast and at a good price. It was also even better reheated the second day, which is good because we had a lot of pizza! And you can't beat the free six pack of soda!
