West Coast Pizza is a solid 3 star pizza joint.... Now a 3 star review for pizza in my eyes isn't half bad...let me explain. I'm a pizza snob. Here's my disclaimer. I'm a pizza purist. Born and raised in NYC, I'm very picky about my pizza. I can look at pictures and know if a place is worth trying. Seeing pictures of thin crust drew me in....along with a BOGO free pizza coupon. Most of the seating here is long picnic style benches. There are a few high top tables and there's also outdoor seating. It's a very casual place. It wasn't crowded at all on a Sunday evening. Order at the counter, they'll give you a table number, seat yourself, get everything you need yourself (plates, etc), and they'll bring out your food. Now the food....so the pizza is thin crust and it folds. Oil drips off and onto the plate. So, in that sense...it's traditional thin crust. The problem here...either the oven runs hot or they're still getting the timing down because the crusts were cooked unevenly. They were cooked but one pie was crispier than the other. We ordered two 16'' pies- el pepe and margherita-ville. El Pepe is pepperoni and if you're picky like I am...I like the big pepperoni slices, not the little cups which is what they serve here. The Margherita-ville was good but the crust wasn't as crispy as the El Pepe. Service was fine- they seemed friendly enough. 3 stars is appropriate.

I've ordered take out pizza from this place twice now, and both times had a smile put on my face. Each time in the order I asked a random question and got a funny response. This playfulness is one thing that keeps me coming back for more. The pictures show my question and their response. Whoever was in the kitchen on 7/15/26 around 7:00pm, kudos to you.

Burnt pepperoni, sausage, bell pepper, thin crust (we didn't ask for that)!

I liked when they first opened, but now their service is lacking. No follow up at the tables and I've come in twice where there are barely any customers, but dirty tables. And, to me a good restaurant means checking on your customers, but, they are a pizza joint. So I guess this doesn't apply. I guess they expect the customers to clean up after themselves. My pizza tonight was burnt, and had a bitter taste to it? Do the employees not pay attention to customers and cook time on their product? Sorta sad that even though they are new, no quality service and product.

Good food, friendly staff, in a casual setting. This is not your average pizza joint. We truly enjoyed our pizza. Wings were just "meh" - go to a wing place if you want that.

Being from the local lands, a So Cal beach type dropping in for the first time is like, "Wow, cool vibe", are the first words that came outta my mouth out loud. Then I heard the incredible sound system above being provided by Bose that filled the reduced space well. I watched as two more So Cal-looking families came through the door. They did the same scan of the redone, very So Cal themed decore and instant feel. I think this guy, the owner, might actually know what he's doing. Seems he set the place up well. Smaller now. This place was slightly smaller than I remember of their predecessor "Killer Pizza From Mars". I did notice what may be original KPFM (I was never a real big fan, BTW) art on a corner of the artfully crafted, lo and highboy, table setups. Perhaps the art is a gratitudinal pass down. Very themely. Several TVs cater to the game-needy, and a US-quarter-sinkhole kids game area. Yes, I have grandkids. Both should keep the family patrons spending. Everyone currently inside to be having a good time. Good pie. Got the first one home and immediately grabbed a slice and folded it. Performed that first task well. The pizza did a good re-do in the toaster-oven (do they even have these anymore?) Good setup in a good location. Just without the alien invader theme. They even had a decal post for the taggish. "I'll be back" (Arnold, 1984) Bad ass!!! Dicks

Good pizza offering a thin crust perfectly cooked pizza. If your pizza crust doesn't have that slight coal-char crisp, it's not made right. Note: one crying Yelper posted photos of West Coast Pizza's PERFECT crust and complained: about a hot, crunch'n chew pizza crust!! She should go to a chain like Shaky's Hut LOL. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm a New Yorker who is 100% Siciliano. This is Q U A L I T Y P I Z Z A C H E E R S !!

Pizza is very good, love the crust and the toppings. You can a slice or 2 different sizes

I recommend this place. Chill, laid-back spot with great pizza. We ordered "El Pepe," "Flew the Coop," and chicken wings - very yummy!

West Coast Pizza Co is making some of the best pizza in San Diego North County right now... it's got some hints of New York-style pies with thin, crispy crust (that doesn't wilt) but with Cali-inspired flavors and toppings. The sauce is delicious and I spoke with the owner about the cheese they're using - it's mostly whole milk mozzarella so it has a creamy, almost buttery flavor to it and it melts great, even when reheated in the oven at home the next day. A variety of good local craft beer on tap too - Stone, Ballast Point, Alesmith, all from San Diego, are showcased for $7 a pint, an incredible price in today's market! - old favorites like Modelo, Pacifico, and Coors Light round out the lighter lagers. The restaurant is clean and bright, not at all like the dark and dank Killer Pizza from Mars, which was the previous pizza joint at that location on El Norte Pkwy. It's got family-style seating with nice picnic tables and sturdy, industrial booths, and they expanded the front patio area to include more outdoor seating. The vibe is definitely SoCal with skateboard decks and surfing images for wall decoration, and it feels laid back and a good place for friends and families to meet up - there's even an arcade for the little groms. Staff is super friendly and the owners make their way around the restaurant greeting cutomers and helping with the service. They just opened and are definitely already busy, but the owners take the time to chat with you about the new restaurant and how they plan to make it a part of the local community. Overall, it's a great new location, and I'll be coming back often. The pizza is delicious and a good value for the money, the atmosphere is super chill, and the people are nice. What more could you want? High recommended, good job West Coast Pizza!

Weill had to try this place and would probably not go back. Pizza is think, sauce wasn't bad but it was almost burned. I was told this is normally how they bake it so i asked, should I request for it not to be burned next time. Check out the picture for yourself. Pricey as well especially to get this from almost $60 for 2 large pepperoni pizzas. Staff were very nice and 3 people offered to help. That's a good thing. Place was clean.

Went here for dinner this weekend since we live close by and had been wanting to try it out. I appreciate the menu options and ability to add and customize their pizzas. Thought the personal size was more than enough for one person and could easily feed two. We got three different kinds and were satisfied with all of them: El Pepe, Great White and Flower Power. Think I see the point for some on the crust - it was a little chewy/overdone but not bad. On the plus side, it stood up to being reheated the next day. Overall think it's a solid option in the neighborhood.

Elijah and Eric hooked us up and let us taste their mojos, which is their version of fried potato chips. And it's very good! Crispy and just a little bit thicker than chips. This may have been my first visit to a Shakey's where I wasn't wearing a baseball uniform…read more I think the last time I went to Shakey's (not this location) was after a Little League game--one that I played in. That was [insert ridiculously large number here] years ago. There used to be Shakey's locations everywhere. If you played sports as a kid way back when, your team went to Shakey's to celebrate a win. Or you drowned your sorrows in pitchers of Coke or Root Beer after a loss. The location in Escondido is massive. The main dining room is humongous and they even have a nice video game room. The pizza is about on par with Pizza Hut quality and that's fine with most people, especially if you have young kids. And, of course, what visit to Shakey's is complete without some Mojo Potatoes? Basically, they are well-seasoned thick potato slices. I like them and there's also some added nostalgic value there. On the negative side, our food took forever to make which was a bit of a drag. Also, there were multiple uncleaned tables on a Saturday night that remained uncleaned during our entire visit. My guess is the restaurant was short-staffed (both front and back of house) which doesn't make a lot of sense on a busy Saturday night. They've got beer and a salad bar (now that's a real unicorn these days) and you can even get anchovies on your pizza (save your hate, they're good). They also have TVs everywhere so if there is sports being played somewhere, this is the place to watch it. I probably wouldn't return for the pizza and certainly not for the dirty tables. The Mojos are solid and if you have young children, are looking to catch a game, or if you want some decent nostalgia, it's worth a visit. Bonus points if you come dressed in your old Little League uniform.

Mostly dark throughout, red & white checkered tablecloths, chianti bottles everywhere. I was solo and upon entering I was offered what appeared to be the worst possible table in the place, a half banquette staring at a wall. I declined that table and found something more suitable and comfortable with better lighting towards the rear. I immediately began by ordering a half carafe of chianti which came filled to the brim. I also requested some bread. The waitress brought out a couple of empty plates and small dish of butter packets. No bread, but I have butter. Go figure. For my dinner I ordered the Lasagna with meat sauce (half-order) and a meatball. The bread wound up coming out with the meal. The lasagna and meatball were good sized portions, but nothing came out properly hot. Not even the serving dishes. Everything was just varying degrees of lukewarm to warm. This is a problem that plagues most Filippi's in my experience. Poway is probably the worst. Aside from the food temps, everything was tasty and flavorful. While there are other Italian establishments in the area, this one continues to offer fairly reasonable prices and expanded operating hours which I appreciate.
