We went to pizza nova and placed an order to go. We ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp, a chicken wrap and a cheese pizza. Pretty simple. We were told it would take 15-20 minutes and it Took them over 45 minutes to get us our order. On top of being too expensive the food was DISGUSTING. Most amazing food. Been going there for 2 years. I am so sorry to say that the air conditioning has been out for at least 3 months. I am a bookkeeper by trade and I know that owners refuse to pay to repair air conditioning. So to the OWNERS, SUCK IT UP AND GET IT FIXED!! We are not going back until it's fixed. So disappointed :( This is only the 2nd time Yelp has failed us. Service was excellent. Beer was good. Salad was fresh. But the garlic rolls were so chewy that my jaw was tired. And the pizza .... sadly it was below average. It was so dry that my jaw started to get another workout. Not only was the sauce almost non-existent, but the toppings were very sparse. And for some reason there was a ridiculous amount of flour on the bottom of the pizza; so much that the pizza was sliding on the plate. This obviously added to the dryness. The ultimate downer to our $50 lunch was the host of gnats that were hovering just over the bar. Food is delicious, but it was a very hot day in San Marcos that day and the ac was not working and it was hot inside. This is the second time that the ac is not working that the location. Also the server charged my account $150 instead of $100. Whow that's a big difference. I did call and they will refund the difference. read more

I've been here twice now. It's ok. The food is decent, but not outstanding. I enjoy their salads, but even they could be improved upon. Two people can get full, enjoy their meal, and keep the bill low if they're savvy. However the servers come off as... snide, to put it nicely. I feel like because I try to keep my bill down they put me on ignore. Little do they know, I'm a VERY generous tipper and an easy customer. I'd probably give it 2 1/2 stars. I had been once before in the restaurant and remember the pizza being pretty good but the hubs and I ordered delivery last week and the pizza was not good at all. We got 2 pizzas- one with sausage, peppers and onions and the other with pepperoni, peppers and onions. The sauce, crust and just flavor overall was off....can't quite place what was wrong but it just wasn't very good. Locally, our favorites are Hendos and Borreli's in Encinitas. I have only been here a few times, a couple times for happy hour and once for a lunch when they first opened up. Today we went here for a co-workers' birthday lunch. I probably didn't go back because their menu seemed a little boring. The service was great and people were very friendly. However the food was okay. I wasn't a fan of the "garlic bread". It seemed a little undercooked and dunked in garlic butter/oil. I saw a lot of good things on the menu and decided to go with the Mediterranean veggie pizza which came with zucchini, mushrooms, olives, tomatoes, feta cheese and some other stuff. The pizza dough was cooked to perfection. However I wasn't impressed with the grilled veggies on top. They tasted a bit burnt. Maybe because they were cooked twice, once on grill and again on top of the pizza. And since it was my co-workers' birthday, they brought out a dessert for her! I really like this place. The rosemary garlic knots are awesome and addictive. I like that they have personal pizzas so you dont have to order the larger ones. Their house salad rocks on its own. The food here is always good - whether it is pizza or pasta - and after over a dozen visits there are still things I am wanting to try. My favorites, thusfar, are the Salmon Crostini (as an appetizer) and White Pepperoni Pizza. I also appreciate the price-to-value ratio; the prices are very reasonable. The downsides are that service can be a bit slow, and sometimes the other patrons are a bit rowdy. Gooooood food! People order Pizza Nova in our office constantly. The lingering smell of those soft, chewy garlic rolls keeps me hungry all afternoon. Love their salads--they make their croutons out of the leftover rolls so they're crunchy and homemade. I would recommend the caesar salad or their "best salad." The pizza is scrumptious and good quality. Their pastas are also tasty. The chicken tequila pasta is spicy and flavorful, but I would recommend the broccoli with penne if you're looking for something more simple and savory. Best of all, they deliver! My husband and I come here a lot. It's my favorite restaurant in north county! Their service is consistently excellent, even when they are busy. I like that they have a dog friendly patio. The Pizza here is Excellent! I've never tried any entrees other than pizza so I cant say anything about them, but I haven't had a pizza I didn't like. I get the baked garlic appetizer every time I go. It's beyond amazing! It doesn't come with enough time but the server always brings more for no charge. =) The cocktail menu is fun and full of yummy surprises. I did get one that I really didn't like, and the server quickly realized I didn't like it, got me a different one, and had the first removed from the bill. There was one night I stopped in alone to grab a quick bite on my way home, and I had downright awful service from a waiter named Austen. I would definitely steer clear of him, he was downright rude and incredibly inattentive. I was the only person at the bar and he only had one other table, that he also only checked on very infrequently. Other than one terrible server, this place is great! read more

The staff is so friendly and attentive, you barely have to wait to get your food and speaking of food, there isn't one thing on the menu that we don't love. Went for lunch, the interior is really cool and has a modern feel. Service was very good drinks were constantly topped off and the waitress even refilled our lemonade. The garlic balls are free and delicious, filling though right before pizza, if that's what you get. I had the white pizza with pepperoni and garlic, very good! Mediocre at best. We had a party of four, our table was set up for two and we never received a second set up, so had to take them from an empty table (which the server never apologized for). Bread was very dry. Pasta was very bland, had the same one at the solana beach location and it was MUCH more flavorful. Salad was good. Our waters were lefty empty through the entire consumption of out entrees and we had to ask multiple times before getting them refilled. Even the pepper grinder on our table was empty. To top it all off, the server took our bill, rang us up, and instead of just bringing the change back, she returned to the table and asked us if we needed change. I've been a server for several years, and they should know how rude it is to ask if we need the change--always leave it for them to decide. Have only been to the San Marcos location three times. Generally like their food, especially the meatball sandwiches which are really tasty and a lot of food for the price. However, the service is questionable. Most recently, I approached the counter and was graciously greeted. The male host, young and likely a college student became very condesending once I presented a coupon to place my take out order. Actually rolled his eyes when I referred to a caprese, as a salad...like it matters. Later saw him eating on the other side of the line and was chewing his food when he brought my order back up to the hostess stand. I'm in the business and understand how quickly word spreads so I hope they are able make improvements.. The staff at the bar is great so I'll order there if I return. read more

We have eaten there 4 times total and have always had good service. It has a nice atmosphere as well. Good pizza, a little pricey but it isn't Pizza Hut basic. I have had the plain cheese pizza, the margherita pizza and one with grilled veggies on it. Nice thin crust and tasty sauce. read more
