I've never complained about too much cheese before, but I guess there's a first time for everything! I've only had delivery, so maybe it would have tasted better if it didn't arrive lukewarm, but this was some of the weirdest pizza I've ever had, including MUCH cheaper places! The layer of cheese was really thick and greasy, something tasted "off" about the tomato sauce, and the crust was almost the texture of tough pie crust and folded over at the edges (?) instead of puffed up. I'm not a huge fan of their pizza. It's not the tastiest pizza I've ever had. However what distinguished this pizza for me was their offering of whole wheat crust. You don't see that often if at all and maybe what this place is going for is a healthier pizza, therefore meaning pizzas that are not as greasy as your ordinary and ultimately not as tasty. I imagine it's hard in general to have ANY kind of healthy pizza but whole wheat is a good start. They also offer pizza with a white walnut sauce as well as a pesto sauce which are also not your ordinary pizza sauces. For what it's worth, their offerings allow you to vary it up a bit. Crust is chewy and thicker; not my favorite but I imagine there are some people out there who are used to that type of pizza. Think Domino's, Pizza Hut, or Little Caesar's style crust. read more

It was close to closing time for pizza pie-er so I decided to order quickly online through their Yelp page. When ordering through yelp, you're brought to Eat24, an app to make your delivery or pick up experience easier. I order a gluten free pizza personal 8" size because it was option for crust with no cheese, extra extra bacon and pepperoni. I wanted vegan cheese but they don't have it as an option at all. I get a call back minutes after paying and pressing send that they do not have gluten free crust available for 8" or 10" whatever the personal size is. I told them to switch it to the size the gluten free crust is and I got charged for a medium gluten free pizza. It was so much more expensive and irrational to ever eat here again. My appetite vanished from ever returning when days later my bank statement charged me a different price than from what I was shown/told. When I called after viewing statement the owner was rude and very defensive. I was cut off from speaking a couple times and had to let him know I needed to explain what happened. He had no idea about Eat24 and it seemed like it was all news to him. As owner and manager of any business it is crucial to know the ins and outs of what your business is doing. I won't be eating here today and there's 2 stars for speedy delivery and a hot pizza and a late night delivery employee. read more

Why does anyone order from this place? I'd rather have pizza from a national chain. The pizza here has the consistency and flavor of cardboard - a fine calorie delivery system, but not an enjoyable eating experience. The location is a bit out of the way and tiny, but I've had pizza from here more times than I can count because they somehow managed a special relationship with Brown which means most events have to order pizza from them. This place is one of the first places I would go when I first moved to the Northeast and didn't realize I needed a window air conditioner. I pretty much decided from those early experiences this would be my pizza of choice in Providence. That is not to say it is the best (notice three out of five stars). It's not. But it is really good and if you are on the Wayland Sq to Wickenden side of the East Side, it's for sure worth a visit. My suggestion is the Cajun Chicken Pizza with green olives on multi-grain crust. As long as it is not dry from being overcooked (sometimes a problem and my biggest complaint about this place) it is really good. This place is more expensive than a pizza chain but is comparable to other independent pizza places in the area. God forbid you not get any pizza you want for the hourly wage of one of their workers. However, if you bring back your pizza box you get some off your total. Also, if you save the receipts and bring them back after you have ten you get $10 off the total which is not a bad deal. Delivery was as expected (we were told about 30 minutes and it was delivered in 30 minutes). The food was not super hot when we received it, but it was delicious! We ordered a thin crust large pizza with half mushrooms and half pepperoni. The crust was flavorful with a good sauce to cheese ratio. The mushrooms were very fresh and were baby bella mushrooms and were actually cooked instead of the nearly-raw mushrooms you get on some pizzas. The pizza also re-heated well. Price was a bit expensive ($18 total when you add in the delivery charge) but I would rather pay $18 for an edible pizza instead of $12 for a disgusting one. One note: I would recommend calling to place your order instead of using the website. The website did not recognize my address, but when I called they had no problem with delivering to that address. read more

Pizza Pie-Er is one of my go-to spots for takeout and delivery in the area. They have tons of options, including 11 creative sauces (helloooo cilantro pesto!), traditional toppings, and gourmet-style creations (shrimp, prosciutto, eggplant). I love that you can order off the menu or build your own pie from scratch. I also like that they offer multigrain, wheat, veggie or traditional white crusts. They even have a 'lite' menu with healthy options like sliced chicken and veggies so you can enjoy pizza while still staying somewhat "on track" for eating reasonably. I've had the body fit and harvest chicken lite pizzas and they're full of flavor with a thin, crispy crust. I've heard their dessert calzone is amazing (chocolate chips+strawberries+cream cheese=yum!), but haven't tried it myself. My bf is a huge fan of their spinach pies and wings as well. I would definitely recommend calling and picking up your pie on the weekends. Delivery can take a while. Out of all the pizza places out there, I always end up at Pizza Pie-er. I look over menu after menu and then salivate at the thought of Pizza Pie-er. There's just something about that flavorful, doughy crust and perfect cheese to sauce ratio that I can't get enough of. They have a wide variety of options for crust, sauce, toppings (shrimp?!) that could appease just about anyone. My favorite sauce is the buffalo which has a little kick that doesn't go too far - just the right amount of spice. Don't come here looking for NY style pizza. I don't do dairy, and I've never tried any pizza here, but my boyfriend swears by it. What I love is the spinach pie. Holy freaking Popeye! It is so good. You can choose what kind of dough you want it on - I usually go with the multi grain, and it is perfection. The spinach has just the right hint of spice and it's not overly soggy. Most places around here will make the spinach pie early in the morning and then leave it sitting in a case for 5 hours before they half-heartedly heat it up and serve it to you. No sir, not here! It's made up fresh, hot and tasty. And unlike the pizza, you won't have to pay with your soul for a spinach pie. $4.99 and I've got my self a lunch under $5. Hooray! The restaurant offers delicious pizza, wraps, sandwiches, and salads. I love their de-lighter pizzas as for me I love eating foods on the lighter side with respect to calories. Now they also offer vegan cheese. When you go, I would recommend you register to get points that you can apply for future orders. After you accumulate enough points, you can exchange the points to offset your future purchase. The owner takes pride in using the freshest ingredients. The heavy Wickenden pizza option. By virtue of being a Brown student, I must have put down hundreds of catered Pizza Pie-Er slices. Where Brown gets the money for so many $15-$20 dollar pies despite being significantly in the red is the real mystery. Pizzas are good, definitely a click above Pizza Hut and Dominos, with physiologically proven excellent ingredients. The sun-dried tomato pizza might be the standout, with an abundance of sweet fruit/vegetable dumped on a pre-cooked cheese pizza. Additionally, there might as well be a guaranteed well-formed stool sixteen hours after putting down three slices of anything on the whole-wheat crust.
