Good first time experience. Given it was the day before thanksgiving, it was calm but we enjoyed it. We shared a large pizza and nuggets both very good. It's not Italian style, but good American style pizza. Liked very much the non greasiness of the crust. We picked a one topping, the sauce was rich in flavor, balanced on the salt and oil mix. The amount of ingredients was also the right quantity. Nuggets were good as well, we actually started our meal with them. The have the reputation of being the best in town, and they certainly lived up to it. Our waitress was on top, she had great timing checking on us and giving us time and space to enjoy our food and company. She even brew fresh coffee for me. It was one of the coldest evening of this early winter, but the place was nicely warm. Sports on all the TVs, but the sound just fit the mood and the calmer evening. If you attend Northern Illinois University I'm sure you know what Pizza Pros is. Like all the other reviews I say skip the pizza and go straight for the cheese nuggets!! So good! It's a pizza with out the sauce. The sauce comes on the side for dipping and the crunchy "crust" is my favorite. Pizza Pros is also a great late night snack. They are open late and deliver till 3AM! Don't get me wrong the pizza is good it's just not my favorite. Also I didn't know how nice the actual restaurant was because I always had it delivered. Inside its a sports bar with a great room for parties and group gatherings. And to top it off they have well priced drink specials throughout the week. read more

Having visited this place three or four times in the past year I've come to the conclusion that carry-out is the way to go. Not that the servers were rude, inattentive or any of the usual complaints that one might make about a sit-down experience. Its just that the whole experience took sooooo long. I think that the kitchen might be a bit inefficient or understaffed or something along those lines, but an hour wait at a pizza place is just not acceptable for me. The pizza is good. Unfortunately, the service was not good. I ordered at 12:18AM and did not receive my delivery until 2AM. They're open late, so that's a plus. My pizza was cold and I didn't not receive the condiments that I requested. Managers were not helpful in solving this issue. I tipped the driver who exemplified terrible customer service because it's not his fault. Honestly, he was apart of the problem and I should not have given him a tip at all. After ordering delivery multiple times and enjoying the food, my boyfriend and I decided to dine in. The table next to us was full of dirty plates from previous customers and it took about 15-20 minutes for one of the waitresses to attend to it even though the restaurant was basically empty. We placed our order specifically with "no mushrooms" and for the second time, they gave us our order with mushrooms. Then had to wait a while for it to be remade. We recently brought a large group of highschool students in after a NIU basketball game. We had called our orders in ahead of time and Aaron asked us to let him know when we left the game so he could have the food hot and ready when we arrived! We showed up and they set us all up in the backroom and the food started coming out almost immediately separated by each students name. Cheese nuggets.. I love you, but I hate you. First off, the name, ew...who wants to down nuggets of cheese? Really? But, because everyone on Yelp kept raving about them I decided to at least try these nuggets o' cheese. Out came a HUGE pizza for the boyfriend and his parents...and then a sauceless pizza cut into a checkerboard pattern for myself with marinara and garlic sauce on the side (I ordered the garlic sauce extra..doesn't come with it but I DEMAND you get it...omfg..yum.) I had to do a double take...I expected Totinos looking pizza rolls or something..not this...I started to lose faith in my fellow yelpers. HOWEVER, one bite...and I had to cross my legs :D It was orgasmic. I fell in deep..deep lust. Faith instantly restored. After about four or five pieces I had to call it quits. My dinner guests more than happily dug in for their fill of cheese nuggets and I still had nearly three fourths of it to take home...ridiculous. I will NEVER order these delicious nuggets o' cheese again because I felt disgusted with myself for eating all that heart-attack-goodness but they are a must to try at least once in your life. meh-super cheap prices, homemade pizza that tastes likes a homemade recipe you might have at family pizza nights, but nothing I'd sell in the public market. Once I moved out of the dorms, I think I ate Pizza Pros every single weekend at NIU. The cheese nuggets--"cheese nugs" we called them--are still amazing, and I've been gone for a few years now. My roommates and I always got the cheese nugs (with ranch and marinara, and then extra ranch) and hot wings. Nuggets are fantastic and this is the only pizza restaurant in DeKalb (that I'm aware of) that offers Chicago style sauce-on-top deep dish. The pizza is above average, no matter what crust you pick. There are daily specials which make Pizza Pro's a bargain. Service is always slow here, even taking into consideration that it's 50% bar and 50% old pizza hut type seating. And of the 5 times we've been here, the toppings on our pizza have been correct once. So my tip is to ask your server to repeat back what you order as they're prone to putting Bacon on instead of Black olive, or Pepperoni instead of Pineapple, etc. read more

Anyone familiar with our college town will know that is a big statement since there are so many pizza places, some new and some old and well known, but Pizza Pros beats them all.
