Came here twice recently and the same BS. My friend loves pizza ranch for the chicken however we had to wait almost 15 minutes before they brought chicken out. It's a buffet and you should never run out of your signature items. Even worse, they were down to like 2 1/2 pizzas. Not much to choose from. We drove up north to dine at pizza ranch. We were on the fence about going to the brand new store in Illinois, we called ahead and we were warned that they were really busy and it will most likely be a wait. We decided to go a little farther out to the next location in Wisconsin. It was a bit of a drive, but oh was it worth it! There were different varieties of food, but the star of the show definitely was the pizza. We order the Mac and cheese with cheese stuff crust. The fried chicken was the best that I have had in a long time. The food was so good. When you arrive, you pay for the buffet, and you can put in request for the pizza that you would like, the staff will give you a number to place on your table so you can enjoy first dibs before it gets put out for the general public. The customer service was awesome. The staff were on it with keeping the facility clean and making sure to grab extra plates to be washed. This place was allot of fun and definitely worth bringing the family out. At the end the kids were able to get some ice cream for the ice cream machine. I'm going out on a limb and give this place 5 stars. Went here just because this place is the closest from the hotel and because the kids were hangry. As we went inside, it felt like I went to the wild west oldie but goodie kinda place. Price - they're all you can eat type of restaurant. Honestly I don't like going to buffet because I don't eat that much. However, I like the fact that their pricing for the kids were based on the kids age. I really think their price wasn't that expensive. Food - OMG! If you hear the saying "don't judge a book by its cover", this place is exactly like it. I wasn't expecting the food to be good. The workers are great, friendly, efficient and kept the hot food coming....the chicken is our favorite, so much so my husband and a friend call it the "Chicken Ranch"!! But the pizza is good too and the breadsticks. We love the dessert pizza, Cactus bread? They often have other flavors of dessert pizza, like the blueberry we had the other night, excellent. The staff at this location are doing their best with the resources they have available. They are delays, I had to wait for many Buffett items to be refilled, but this is a minor inconvenience compared to the many staff members who were working hard all day and evening. I love and miss buffets like they used to be. I live 45 min away and yes it was worth the drive. The prices are good and the people are nice. When we first got there and we're paying, the person at the counter asked if we had any requests. I was so taken aback like ma'am this is your restaurant you feed us what you want to but I really appreciated the question. I also really appreciate how the drinks are built into the price. My husband and I forgot if it was good food or we just like a lot of food for a good price. When we both took that first bite of pizza we were like okkkk this is good! Taco pizza, cheese, pepperoni, supreme, some broccoli something, bbq chicken the list goes on. When I walked in the staff didn't say anything and was very unfriendly, the food was cold, noodles were crunchy, pizza wasn't restocked and was cold, when a staff member came to bring mashed potatoes out she brought no spoon and was rude when I asked for one. The cottage cheese was sour, and the place doesn't seem very well taken care of, the tables were dirty, the floors were sticky, and I saw someone in the back without gloves. There is more, but I don't wanna waste my time on this trash place. I have gone to better locations, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND this location. Go to Culver's or subway or something near by. Went to Pizza Ranch Sunday and we were quite surprised over the service. Andrew was still our Number 1 but at least this time there was a team of employees that were working as a team. The young man that was at register was ready willing & able to be a problem solver. Good job! The rest of the staff were all doing there jobs to be sure to keep plenty of fresh food on all the bars. Of course Andrew was doing it all & with a smile always on his face. We do not know if he's in college but he certainly deserves to be more than a bus boy within this establishment. I'm giving the Elkhorn Pizza Ranch FIVE STARS and I wish I could give them more. These folks are working extremely hard to serve their customers, and doing a GREAT JOB! I arrived last Saturday evening with a large group of adults and teenagers after a church event; in our excitement, none of us had thought to ring ahead. We arrived at 640pm; the restaurant was scheduled to close at 7pm. The hostess was wonderfully polite and courteous; she told us she would not only stay open for us, she would give us a discounted price, since there were nearly twenty of us. As you may imagine, this was really unexpected and wonderfully appreciated by everyone. We all tucked in, and I have to say: the pizza was very good; there were several different varieties, including an all-cheese pizza, a pineapple/ham pizza, and even some dessert pizzas. Hot diggity dog! There was also a fried chicken buffet (EXCELLENT) with mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet corn, and gravy. There was also a salad bar, with plenty of toppings and dressings. The nice folks at the Pizza Ranch even brought out more pizzas for us, and helped everyone out; you can imagine, all of us appreciated everything they did for us. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE BEST! I witnessed an employee yell at a mentally challenged kid who grabbed a chicken wing with his bare hand - "hey! Use the tongs, that's so unsanitary dude!" It's not like he touched every single piece. He just seemed like he was trying to embarrass him. Food: if you can imagine, the food is a low-brow version on hometown buffet food. Nothing tasted, "real". Even the ice cream, as white as whiteout, seemed like it was actually frozen coolwhip. I can't say anything for the pizza except it tasted like a 10 for $10 pizza. We were in the area for a gymnastics meet and my daughter picked Pizza Ranch. We've been to this exact location a few other times and have never been disappointed. I'm not usually a buffet person but it seems to be the one type of restaurant that will guarantee my child eats a lot! (Thanks dessert bar!) One thing that is always consistent with this place is their customer service and food quality. We came on a Saturday before it got terribly busy. They did a good job of keeping everything stocked up. Their pizza isn't bad but it's not my favorite. It might also be that I am too busy filling my plate with their fall of the bone amazing BBQ chicken. I don't know how they do it but their chicken is so good! My daughter was disappointed that there was no mac-n-cheese pizza. An employee offered to make her some and about 15 minutes later it was at our table. I love the consistency of this place. We visited just as they opened for dinner. The food was hot and good. They made a specialty pizza that wasn't on the buffet already just for us. The peach dessert pizza with a little ice cream in it was really good. We have eaten here before but the the biggest thing we noticed between times was that today the staff included Paul and Tegan. Those two really made a difference. The whole atmosphere was nicer. They go out of their way to help customers and are friendly, caring, kind, and actually seem to enjoy their jobs here. We did come in at about 5:30 so it was dinner rush, but the staff was clearly not prepared. No forks, no soup bowls, no lettuce, and only 3-4 pizza. Honestly, I don't know why I still give this place a chance. I used to love coming here years ago but it has gone downhill since then. Every time I eat at the buffet there are like 2 pizzas made and never and signs that say what they are or what are in them. They never ever have any dessert pizzas out so I'm not sure if they even make them anymore. I had take out from here last week and our pizza was completely doughy in the center. Like not even edible. And I did expect more from them as the wait for delivery was over an hour. I love Pizza Ranch! OMG the fried chicken is delicious! Better than KFC 100%. It's so crispy and well seasoned. This visit, the fresh fried chicken was flowing; you didn't have to wait, the chicken was kept "well stocked," and it was fantastic! The pizza too was delicious and constantly being rotated with a fresh variety of pizzas to try. The salad bar is slightly limited, but in all honesty, if I'm eating at Pizza Ranch, I'm not going for the salad. When we first walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly cashier, which set everything in the right direction. The busboy was on top of constantly clearing dirty plates. He appeared to be the only buser this evening, and the restaurant was pretty busy, so we tipped him a couple of bucks, which he seemed very appreciative of (please tip your buser, as they are running around like crazy making sure you have a clean dining experience). The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was friendly, and the meal was excellent. The value for quality of food is outstanding. We had to drive 25 min to get here, and we overheard some fellow diners say they came up from Illinois because their closest Pizza Ranch closed early, and this one was the next closest. What a disappointment. We arrived shortly before 6pm on a Saturday. We went there to celebrate my niece's 8th birthday. Both the salad bar and the hot buffet looked as if nothing had been done since lunch time. Several items on both the salad bar and hot buffet needed to be refilled. There was no Crantastic salad mix, all of the dressings were very low or empty, several of the other salad bar items were low (cottage cheese, cheese, olives, tomatoes, etc.). There was about a ladle of soup left in the soup pot (which I am sure was left from lunch). On the hot buffet there was no fried chicken, no biscuits, no hot wings (just an empty container with dried, crusted wing sauce in it which I am guessing was from lunch time). The pizza selections at 6pm, when we arrived, were cheese pizza, taco pizza, pepperoni pizza (swimming in grease) and cheese sticks. The bowl of marinara sauce looked as if was for sure from lunch because it was not full and certainly not fresh. After asking a manager to refresh the salad bar it took 20 minutes for that to happen. The soup did not get refreshed until well over 45 minutes. We put in a request for a steak and onion pizza and when they brought to our table, directly from the kitchen, it was already missing two pieces! ??? When more people started coming (there were not many there when we arrived for the first 30 minutes) they could not keep up with the food. There were what seemed like 20 people always standing around the buffet area waiting for pizza or chicken (the two main items on the buffet). No one was happy. When you pay $10+ to eat, you expect to be able to get some food. Even the ice cream machine ran out. OMG this place is disgusting. Came in with my daughter at 4:15pm Saturday, 11-14-20. My husband was going to join me with my other daughter in about a half hour. We paid and went to get some items to eat. First off noticed that everything was a mess. Looked like it was ravaged by the Huns. The serving areas were filthy and a mess, spills on the floor, and spills over the serving area. I flagged down a young employee and brought it to his attention and mentioned that the salad bar needed to be cleaned and totally restocked. Also, there were only 2 pieces of dried out something or varment where the chicken should be, empty serving areas where corn should be, two soup tureens (one with about 10 dried noodles and another with pasta sauce with a thick film on it. As for pizza, three empty pans, one pan with four slices of something with fruit and meat on it, one pan with a slice of dried pepperoni, and two whole dessert pizzas. He assured me that everything would be restocked shortly. So we went and got a couple of drinks and the fountain which was also a mess. After about 10 minutes we noticed that someone came out of the kitchen, no mask, and dumped about 10 pieces of chicken in the existing container and put out a tray of potatoes. Immediately another couple rushed up and grabbed 8 pieces of chicken and left two wings. We grabbed the wings and a little potatoes awaiting more food. Now 4:45pm and nothing. My husband and other daughter arrived and paid then came to our table. My husband apologized for being late and asked if we were done eating. I advised that we had barely started. After telling him the circumstances, he went and spoke to the kid at the counter, who was wearing a mask around his neck. My husband requested some pizza and asked when the food would be restocked. As he walked away he replied, alright, I'll see what I can do, sarcastically. Also, there were no Covid precautions. No one was wearing masks, gloves, or disinfecting & wiping down the areas and tables. My husband returned to the table, sat down for a while, and said let's go, this is ridiculous. We went to the unmanned register and waited for someone to come out. A young kid came out and we requested to speak to the manager. Now 5:00 pm, the manager came out. My husband explained the situation and requested a full refund. As I pointed out all the concerns she replied, " I don't wanna hear it, I'm trying. How RUDE! Almost an hour in the place and no food. Got a refund and went to McDonald's. Also, there were a number of employees in the kitchen area goofing off. Patrons were allowed to take utensils and plates barehanded and not required to wear masks. THIS PLACE WAS DISGUSTING! We visited the Pizza Ranch in Waukesha last week and had a wonderful experience. Extremely well managed, spotlessly clean, and well-stocked. Not to mention COVID SAFE. At the register, we were handed utensils in a bagged and advised to wear a mask at all times when not eating at the table. To use a fresh plate, a new glass every visit to the fountain, and to wear provided plastic gloves with every visit to the serving area. Employees were constantly wiping down and disinfecting the tables and serving areas. I have had three bad experiences in a row hee and will never return. The first time they were closing in 45 min and nothing new would be coming out. No big deal, the buffet was loaded still. However within ten minutes we got asked to hurry up. 5 minutes later told hurry up again. Then we're told just throw whatever on our plate, they wanted to clean up. RUDE. Second time i became ill off the buffet. Third time i was going to use a coupon sent to me, but the cashier said the system was down. I showed him the coupon in my email and he said not my problem. I had high hopes for this Pizza Ranch because I loved the one in Portage and thought it would be exactly the same but it was not. I will tell you what was the same: the delicious aroma of fried chicken as soon as you walk out of your car. It is a chain restaurant but they have slightly different items. At the time I went, there was no chili, mac and cheese, green peas, and green bell peppers, which were at the Portage location and the items I was looking forward to. They did have a salad bar, chicken tortilla soup, pizza bar, ice cream, and drinks (tea, coffee, and pop/soda). I am a big fan of their fried chicken. Most of the pieces were really delicious, flavorful, and everything I hoped, but some of the wings were dry. Their pizza, which is not really my favorite, was ok. They had a wide variety: steak, chicken BBQ, BLT, and dessert pizzas (blueberry, peach, and cactus). I appreciated that the cashier asked if my party wanted any specially made. There was Christian music playing, which I didn't mind. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I would have given a 3 stars overall for the food but the service notched it up to 4. Also, their website said it opens at 5 for dinner Monday through Thursday but it actually opens at 4pm. The prices are very reasonable at around $10 for dinner with drink. Ordered med.pizza with bacon & pepperoni & 8pc. Fried chicken for carry out which they said would be ready in 15-20min. Got there in 15min because they're only 100yards from my house & the food was ready. Got it home & saw that 4 of 8 pieces of chicken had no skin on it! Like one of the workers pulled the skin off and ate it or something. Plus the chicken was VERY dry & cold. The pizza was nothing to write home about either!
