Pho - nominal service! our servers name was Ella - she seemed to care and know about the menu items! We've been wanting to try this place for a while and if we could give it a 4 stars we would but true pho is served with bean sprouts, basil, and jalapeño on the side to mix in. We had both the chicken and beef pho and would recommend the chicken when it comes to these dishes. The gyozas were ok, but wouldn't order again. This is a small but great place across from Tuscan in Lake Geneva. We were seated right away and service was good, except the jalapeño margarita I ordered came in a small glass instead of the margarita glass I saw in the pictures. I asked the waitress and she said it was the same amount. That was disappointing, but ok. My daughter ordered ramen with pork belly and she loved it. I ordered the steak (tenderloin medallions) and chicken hibachi which came with rice and vegetables and a salad, but I wasn't served the salad. When I asked, the waitress brought it out. Again ok, but I would have preferred it before my entree. The waitress offered a to go box! I told her I wanted it so I was going to eat it. It was good and I liked the ginger dressing. Despite the mishaps, the food was excellent. I'm glad we arrived when we did because by the time we were done every table was filled. I'm glad we found this place and we will try again. I actually want to try the lava chicken next time. It looked and sounded good. Will add this place to our list for future Lake Geneva trips. read more

Zaab is my go to place whenever I'm in LG visiting my family! Their chicken is the best restaurant chicken I've ever had! I'm iffy about chicken but Zaab has the best chicken. I've had a few of their dishes and they've all been great. Their cheese curds are amazing and their miso soup is rich in flavor. 10/10 recommend! My boyfriend got this jasmine tea and it was so beautiful and delicious. The wait staff is always super friendly and attentive. The ambiance is nice as well! read more

We were staying at the grand Geneva resort for the weekend and decided to eat in town. I made reservations and included a note that dinner was for a birthday celebration. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so reservations are helpful. There is a back portion with another bar and more tables though. Everyone working was friendly and helpful. The menu has plenty of options. I was torn between ramen, noodles, or hibachi, but ultimately went with hibachi. The steak and scallops were decent portions and fresh. We started with the gyoza and shumai. Both delicious, with the shumai being the best I have ever had! My birthday was not acknowledged unfortunately, but we still got dessert. Our server recommended the apple dumpling with green tea ice cream. Wow. Wish we got two of those! They don't have milk for kids and the soft drinks are cans so no refills. It's a cozy spot and is an excellent choice while downtown Lake Geneva. read more

Good Food, Friendly Service - Not Quite Upscale We had a good overall experience at Zaab Japanese Fusion in Lake Geneva, though it wasn't quite as fancy as we expected. Located in the old Medusa building on Broad Street, it's a bit off the main downtown strip--but you'll still need to pay for parking. The atmosphere was casual and pleasant, and while the food was solid, it leaned more toward approachable than refined Japanese cuisine. The shrimp shumai dumplings were excellent, and the robata-style grilled chicken and vegetables were nicely done, though the veggie portions were minimal across the board. The salmon teriyaki was flavorful and fresh but definitely on the pricier side, and the yaki soba fell flat due to a lack of flavor. What really stood out was the fantastic cold sake and the wonderful, kind staff, who made the experience enjoyable. The rice was given was very small portion, chicken tasted ok but very small portion.. tonkatsu ramen $22.90 this I would recommend as tasted decent and good portion. and garlic shrimp $20.95- I would not recommend this. At first we knew it said 6 shrimps but seeing the size it came with, I wouldn't order for this price. This is more like appetizer and not an entree. Comfortable & Calm I enjoyed the food and the service was good. The waitress and the hostess were both nice, the food was good (I ordered vegetable Pho), and all food/drinks quickly delivered to the table. The restaurant is directly on the corner of the Main Street (building painted black) in what looks like a former dinner space. There is plenty of parking on the road (in front and along the side of the building) to include lots of parking lot parking behind the restaurant. Most of the parking If not all of it is paid so make sure you are looking at the signs and parking spaces. This place was very popular, small groups, and families were eating, and the options for seating was normal (small tables for two or four with easy access to push together if needed, bar top, and window seats). There were even a handful of small tables against the front windows. They have a large menu and offer to go boxes/bags if needed. I'd come back for sure! read more

Took our family here a few months after my first review and they all loved it! This time we got to sample even more of the menu. Collectively we got the chicken & shrimp hibachi, chicken teriyaki, Tantanmen & Tonkatsu ramen, and yakisoba chicken. My grandma doesn't usually love Asian food but she said "this is one of the best Asian meals I've ever had!" Service was pretty slow (I think it was one chef who was working very hard) but once it came the flavors were all delicious! We started with the Robata pork and steak....The shishito peppers, zucchini and meat were great....the Japanese sauce was spot on. My wife loved her salmon and mashed potatoes, I loved my Hibachi Tenderloin Medallion and scallops, the meat was perfectly done and just melts in your mouth. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon they open at 12:00 noon. We had the establishment to ourselves. Baicha. One of the three young female owners waited on us. Personality bright smiles energetic, full of enthusiasm greeted us. We started with the stuffed avocados. Absolutely, amazingly, delicious! Nice spicy kick to them. Next we tried the Yaki Udon Chicken and the Saucy Lava Chicken. Both of these entrées. Perfectly balanced flavorful, presentation absolutely enticing. Serving size bountiful. Atmosphere and hospitality first rate. Definitely five stars . Yes I am fully aware that when you visit Lake Geneva WI. There are a lot of options for your dining. My suggestion to anyone looking to enjoy an over-the-top flavorful meal a short distance off the main downtown drag. Really disappointing experience here and would not recommend. This place is highly lacking customer service, time management skills and accountability. First we tried placing our order online which would not go through so we placed a takeout order over the phone and the person who took our order gave us a pick up time of 20mins. I arrived exactly 20 mins later and as I walked in the bartender asked me if I was there to pick up my order in which I stated, "yes" she replied back saying "it would be just a few more minutes", which was fair enough & not a problem on my end. I sat at the bar to wait and 15 mins passed by and the bartender eventually walked over to me and said "2 more minutes"... 15 minutes later she was back again saying "oh you still haven't received your food, they said it was ready but I don't see it bagged up." 10 more minutes went by and the bartender came back again and said "they are coming out with it now." A total of 50 mins went by before I received my to go order which was 1 hour and 10 mins total from the time I called and placed the order to pick up. The whole time I waited the bartender never even asked me if I wanted anything (not a water not anything..but she had absolutely no problem asking every one else at the bar what they wanted). The other individual working didn't apologize for the wait time when handing me my order and NOTHING was done to remedy such a long wait time. Arrived at our hotel and was already thinking about what to get for dinner on this chilly winter evening. Been craving ramen, but thought there was no way I would find anything in Lake Geneva. Of course, first checked Yelp and found Zaab Corner Bistro, which was a short drive away. I got there early and my family ordered ramen and pork tonkatsu. I was skeptical at first - how could this place so far away from any major city be able to provide a hearty Japanese meal? Boy, was I wrong about this place as the dishes were outstanding. The tonkatsu ramen was deep in flavor as well as clean and light in a surprising pleasant way. The chasu was slightly charred and added a flavor and meatiness to the dish. My partner and I both shared we typically don't finish ramen because it can be salty, oily and too strong in flavor, especially at the end. Eating here, my partner and I were able to finish our bowls clean! They were so good. The tonkatsu was fried so well (they know how to fry dishes, which is an underrated skill as it had just the right crunch without the oiliness) and seasoned perfectly. The sauce has some Japanese curry in it with a touch of sweetness that made eating the delicious dish easy. It was so good our kid asked for a second serving, which we finished! The service was excellent, and we did not wait long at all for our food. If we are ever back in Lake Geneva, I'll come back for sure. read more

What a disappointing experience! We were so excited to try the new restaurant with 4.4 stars rating in Lake Geneva especially reading very promising descriptions of the dishes online. I don't even know where to start. It is pretty sad when the best part of your dinner was coming out of the bottle sake. The Bang Bang Shrimps were over-breaded and tasted like old oil. Osaka Wings were over-breaded as well and tasted worse than from the chain restaurants. We were all excited to try so deliciously described ribs supposedly cooked in a very special sauce. What a failure! Boiled a day before, overcooked, without any flavor whatsoever. The mashed potatoes served with the ribs were out of the box, we were charged $6 for grilled asparagus which was not cleaned and therefore half of that was not eatable and $1 for a tiny splash of "house sauce" to make ribs more bearable . We came at 8:30 on a Saturday and service was very fast eventhough they were pretty busy. My husband got the Udon with Katsu chicken and I got lava Chicken with brown rice and added a side of tamarind chili dressing I added to the rice. Then lava chicken was amazing and was the perfect combo of a little sweet and a hint of spicy. Adding the tamarind chili to the rice gave it a nice spicy kick. The udon broth was soooo good and I would eat this on any cold day I could. Overall I thought the flavors were wonderful, the service was fast and friendly and I'll come back anytime I'm in the area. We had a decent bottle of Malbec for $24. As everyone says the ginger salad is great. We traded back-and-forth between the hibachi chicken and the lava chicken - both very reasonable, and not needing a special occasion to justify. You could spend a lot here if you ordered a $50 bottle of wine and got 30 something dollar meals but you can also get a great meal for a reasonable price - which is a mostly missing category in Lake Geneva. What a nice place for dinner! During a visit from out of town, I was told by my mother-in-law that Zaab is excellent, and she was right! The food here was super tasty. We all went together, my wife, her mom, and myself. They each had glass of wine, which they both enjoyed. I stuck with water--but only because I had a little bit of a chest cold. Otherwise I would have had a lakefront beer. My wife had the Pho, which she said was great. Her mom had her usual favorite: the steak/chicken hibachi plate, which came with a salad (the ginger dressing...YUM!). I had the spicy ramen with tofu. I gotta say, it really kicked butt. The restaurant opened a year ago and I had occasion today to dine here. My husband suggested it as it was new to us. We're only weekenders but able to stay Sunday to avoid the Chicago rush to go home so it was a quiet night but we enjoyed it. This used to be Medusa's and not sure if its demise was due to Covid but decor was pretty similar. It was very clean inside but I didn't see outdoor dining. The kitchen is pretty open and the chef was not masked but did have a chef hat on. It appeared clean as well. They have a full bar and the black board mentioned several wines and drinks for the summer. They also have a Wednesday happy hour from 4-6pm and beers for $2.50. We weren't too hungry so we skipped appetizers. I ordered the Lava Chicken that is similar to the traditional Orange Chicken with a little saltiness to the sauce. It was stir fried with fresh mushrooms, onions and very thinly sliced carrots. It was missing a little green. My husband ordered the full slab of baby back ribs with a familiar taste of a Chinese barbecue sauce I buy. The only problem is the ribs are par-boiled but overcooked, not over grilled however. It was served with a baked potato or loaded potato. I had the white rice which was perfectly cooked and you have a choice of brown rice for $2 extra. I forgot to mention both entrees come with a choice of soup or salad and the soups are homemade as was the salad dressing. I understand that most of the food is homemade including the desserts. The server was very nice and pleasant and I do believe the owners are Asian, one working both sides of the restaurant and the husband in the kitchen. We had a wonderful dinner at Zaab last night with a very friendly server. The ginger dressing on a fresh salad (which was included with our hibachi dinner) was great. My husband loved his filet and I really enjoyed the chicken and tofu combo. The meats and tofu were slightly marinated in something delicious. Veggies were fresh and a nice selection and rice was also included. The meal felt healthy and very satisfying. Went here on a Saturday for lunch. The place was empty when we got there, but by the time we got halfway through out food the restaurant was starting to fill up. We ended up sitting at the bar, since that's always more fun and the best way to chat with the staff. Since we were the only two in the place, we kind of had two waitresses at first. They were quick to get us drinks and menus. We ended up ordering the zesty chicken wrap with a side salad with their ginger dressing and the teriyaki tofu with sweet potato fries. The seasoning on the chicken was perfect and it really complemented the sweet chili dressing which is house-made. We're not really sure what was all in it, but it had a little kick which we think may have been from chopped ginger. The ginger dressing that I got with the salad was also house-made and the standout! We actually ended up dipping the sweet potato fries in it! My only negative was that the wrap itself wasn't very soft/flexible enough to hold its contents well. The teriyaki tofu sandwich overall had good flavor. The teriyaki was what you would expect flavor wise. We did think that the house-made ginger dressing would have made for a better complement with the tofu. The tofu itself was very pillowy, but a good hearty chunk. The bun was very soft as well. The sweet potato fries had a good flavor, but didn't have much crunch, which is something we like. Overall, very good restaurant find in Lake Geneva. I would say order anything where you can get their house made dressings or sauces, because they know what they are doing. It feels like I found a hidden gem with delicious food away from the crowds of downtown LG. I walked in without a reservation for an early dinner at 5pm on a Thursday. We were one of two tables but it started to get busier as we were leaving. It would be a safe bet to make a reservation on the weekends. Our server was very friendly and she knew the menu well. There were seasonal cocktail specials on the blackboard behind the bar. My ribs were fall off the bone tender with a delicious sweet and tangy sauce. My son loved that there was steak offered on the kids menu. I snuck a piece and it was goood. He ordered the kids kiddie cocktail and it came in a huge hurricane glass. He's 9 so I didn't mind but if you have littles heads up. My daughter ate every last bite of her fried tofu sandwich and she's picky about her tofu. We ordered a slice of key lime for dessert.
