Sam's was okay. It was more of a nostalgic meal. My family members used to come here as a child.The high point was the garlic cheese bread. It was super soft and really cheesy goofy. And the fried green beans but felt like it was less than before. The pizzas were alright. The toppings were more in the center for the Sam's special. On the bbq chicken, I noticed there were some green peppers on one slice. I think their muscle memory kicked in and forgot there was a change. But this did bring up concerns regarding if anyone had serious food allergies. The place is a basic pizza joint. It was clean. Fountain drinks are self serve. My husband and I were here this past weekend. I have to say it was probably one of the best New York style pizza we've ever had. The price was reasonable and the staff were super friendly. I'm sad we don't live closer to this establishment. read more

The food was really good even though i couldnt stay long I got breadsticks that were super hot and delicous and totally reccomend to fet the cheesy ones. Can't forget to mention how friendly and accommodating the staff was I also didnt have to wait long at all for my food. I loved the inside of the restaurant I decided to stay and dine in a little while to pass time and i'm glad I did the chairs were very comfy and I can tell from past reviews that they have updated the place and It's totally reccomended dining in. You have to go up to the counter and order/pay yourself before you get your meal (as opposed to paying at the end), which gave it a kind of fast food vibe, and I wasn't sure if I could leave my plates at the end. I got the Midland's Steak Sandwich because their pizza selection is pretty limited, and it was alright. It's hard to say if the food was just meh, because we came on a holiday weekend but it was mid. We ordered a lamb and a chicken gyro and a chicken sandwich. The gyros were ok. I mean, any gyro is better than no gyro, but it seemed to mostly be chicken. one slice of tomato, one tiny, tiny, tiny sliver of onion and a scattering of lettuce. I can't really speak to the chicken sandwich because it looked just like chicken on a basic white bun. my husband doesn't like much of anything so it's hard to tell how accurate his review was but it looked very basic. we ordered a drink to go and it was over $2 for a very small styrofoam cup of soda. Wildly inconsistent. My family has been ordering from Pizza Sam's since the 1970s, so I have a history here. It was far better than in recent years. The crust was thin and crispy, with bubbles and char at the edge; the pepperoni was spicy and crisp. Perfect every time. These days you never know what you're going to get. My recent order looked like a third-grader put it together: a 3 topping pizza with some of the slices having no topping at all, with others having 14 pieces of pepperoni and way too much cheese such that it all fell apart. Barely cooked despite specifying "well done". The surly teenagers working the counter checkout treating customers like an annoyance have also contributed to the decline in the experience here. Management, please recall your origins and resume the quality that you were known for which set Pizza Sam's apart from the rest. Also please hire experienced cooks that actually care about the food they prepare. read more

I was really surprised that they have vegan pizza here so that adds an extra star. The crust is ok and I'm pretty sure they are using Daiya shreds because it never quite looks melted but overall a pretty decent slice! It's no Pizza Baker but I can't get anything vegan there. The breadsticks definitely need some help; it tastes like there is no salt in the dough. Either bring your own salt or buy a more seasoned dip for it than just marinara. read more

Pizza Sam's has been a place that my middle school daughter and her friends have enjoyed eating at and hanging out. However, I was very disturbed recently when staff all but kicked my daughter and three other girls out (started mopping , making snide comments and turning off all the lights) after 8pm when closing time is advertised as 9. The girls had to resort to standing outside in the snow for almost an hour, freezing and eventually being harassed by a grown man on the street. If your business is open until 9, that means you maintain a welcoming atmosphere until 9. Very disappointed that a family business would treat the local young people so poorly. read more

The family forced me to go to Pizza Sams again. :-( Previously, I ordered a Gyro sandwich and the pita bread was stale and crumbled. The manager gave me a new sandwich, however, by the time it got to the table everyone else was finished and ready to leave. But the new sandwich was pretty good. This next time, I decided to order the Gyro sandwich again, The meat was crusty and crumbled up like bacon bits. I was upset, and the un-trained high school waitress could care less and just avoided us. I couldn't eat the sandwich and they wouldn't take it off the bill. They said, "thats the way gyro sandwiches are supposed to be". This place just flat out sucks. The Pizza is bland, service is bad, plastic forks, stale beer sold in Styrofoam cups... Have been going to Pizza Sam's for a few years now. The atmosphere of the restaurant seems a little outdated; they could use a "face lift" on the inside where the seating areas are. They do have a back room for larger parties/groups when needed. The staff is usually pretty friendly. We went to get dinner, our order came out pretty quickly. The staff member delivering food to tables seemed very 'rushed' as though he 'threw' the pizza on the table. He looked stressed. Not sure if they were short staffed or not. This place went straight in the gutter when it was sold by the original owner to Mr. Stamas . Pizza Sam's WAS the best place in town before it was sold. Soon after being purchased everybody forgot how to build the stacked ham and cheese Italian subs and the delicious hand tossed pizza's. To increase profits of course they started using cheap no taste buns and cheap ingredients and cheap bland sauces using cheap labor (kids) it was destined for failure. Back in the day there was ALWAYS a line out the door and around the corner when they were at the other end of town down by Brian's bicycle shop. I confused this Midland Pizza Place for Alma's stand alone Pizza Sam's. While it was a good, small town pizza Place it does not compare to Alma's. The pizza here was good, the crust was well done and there was a good amount of cheese. The cheese sticks were very good, better than the average pizza place. Baked perfectly and very garlicky. The restaurant is pretty basic. You order at the counter and soda is self serve. There are plenty of tables and is a typical family friendly atmosphere. Visited a friend and came here for dinner. I'll start by saying that the service was very very good. I always knew where my server was and she frequently checked in on us. Food wise the pizza was great. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but I definitely felt more than satisfied with the quality and quantity. There were 4 of us and we ordered 2 medium pizzas and had some left over. I'm not a bbq chicken pizza fan but I was encouraged to give the Sams version a shot. Have to say it was far far better than anticipated. I wouldn't mind ordering it again. We didn't get dessert here but they do have ice cream and it seemed to be pretty popular as people were stopping in just for the ice cream and it was mid-January. All in all this place was great. Went here with the fam for dinner. Everyone enjoyed their food and finished it all. Vegan options were fried zucchini and another appetizer, fries, and cheese-less pizza with vegetables. Or at least close enough to vegan for me; your mileage may vary. We had a pizza with no cheese, no sauce, topped with tomatoes and veggies. Pretty tasty despite being a shadow of a "regular" pizza, so that says a lot for the quality of the crust and toppings. We also had the family size garden salad which was boring as can be; with iceberg, cucumber slices, pimento olives, and flavorless onion slices. Italian dressing to the rescue. Went to pizza sams with my girlfriend tonight and was pleased with the Sam's Special. Fresh ingredients and a liberal amount of toppings made for an above average pizza. Also got the mozzarella bread sticks. My girlfriend loved the ranch that went with it, I was indifferent about it. It was a good appetizer. Very disappointing. Went in for a couple of slices with mom and sister. They only had two left which we ordered. The lady behind the register told us they would bring them to us. We sat outside and waited about 15 minutes or so. Because it was taking so long, I went inside to see if I could grab them. The same lady told me they would be brought to us. It was getting a bit warm outside so we came in and sat at a table--still no pizza slices. Eventually, two slices came to our table which we began eating. During this time, we were approached by another customer who was seated across the room from us--she told my mom that our pizza may be cold as it has been sitting on HER TABLE for 10 minutes! So they literally went to her table, picked up the pizza and redelivered it to us--without a thought otherwise! Totally gross and my guess is against every kind of food service rule out there. And, we did not know this until after we started eating it! The people behind the counter offered to make us a new 1/2 small pizza but by this time we could not stay to wait any longer. Pretty disappointed tonight for my first time at this restaurant. I ordered a calzone with three fillings that came out mediocre warm and very little flavor. I asked for a side of marinara which at all pizza places I've ever been to comes with a calzone and the waitress brought me a cold cup of sauce from the fridge. Pizza Sam's clearly doesn't care about the environment either. Dine-in cups were styrofoam and the salads came on throw away plastic containers.
