I'll keep it short and simple since I'm not a big fan of pizza to begins with. It was a decent value for the whole pizza. I don't remember which kind I got, but it was really greasy. It took a while to get my order. Other customers (a total of 5 people) that had arrived minutes laters after me got their slices of pizza before I got my order. I noticed the cook didn't wear a hair net at all. I can see this place is still surviving by targeting college students with cheap greasy pizza but it wasn't my favorite at all. If anything please just make the cook wear a hair net. I'm more than positive no one wants a piece of hair in their pizza. read more

What a cute, eccentric pizza joint. I'm going to sound like a bore here but I got the salad. It was great! Loved the tomato dressing. The chicken on it was tender and tasty too and the pickled red onions gave the salad a flavorful kick without being overwhelming. My salad was $10. Pretty standard. It was filling. Some of the best pizza in Columbia. Really interesting topping combinations (e.g., Bahn Mi) but they also make a great pepperoni pizza. I love the Buffalo style pepperoni that cups upward and gets crispy on the edges. Mmmmmm! My favorite pizza is the pepperoni with added fire-roasted tomatoes. They are a wonderful combination of sweet and salty. For those who have a particular pizza style preference, Pizza Tree is closest to New York style with a nice thin crust, minimal sauce, and lots of gooey cheese. It's not a "true" NY pizza though. Pizza Tree is usually very good, but I'm taking a star away for consistency. Whenever they get busy, the quality seems to suffer (e.g., minimal toppings, pizza that was slid too harshly into the oven and is then missing some cheese on the edges of a few pieces, etc.). I suspect that some of their employees care more than others about the quality when it gets busy. It only happens 1 out of 8-10 orders, so 4 stars seems reasonable to me. They also do slices, which is a nice option to try something new without having to commit to a whole pizza. read more

Pizza Tree is by far the best pizza in Columbia. Signed and sealed. Pepperoni pizza is my personal favorite, but there are a variety of pies to choose from, and best of all is you can get it by the slice. Slices are big and long and packed with flavor, and not to greasy. I also recommend getting some house made ranch and dipping your little piece of heaven in there. It's honestly good enough to drink. Has a hint of onion in my opinion. Atmosphere is cool but this is a small joint. You can sit and eat, never had a problem, but capacity can't be more than 25 people I suspect. More of a grab and go place. The pizza pairs with drinking like the stars align with the planets. read more

I did not visit the place but ordered a couple pizzas for delivery. To begin with, the receptionist was not pleasant and was borderline rude. To be fair to the food, I'm not rating the joint based on my conversation with her. We ordered a small 12 inch marghareti and another 12 inch specialty mushroom pizza. The total bill was 32 bucks. I was hoping that the food would match its stellar cost but what I got was totally different. The crust was bland and the pizza sauce was mediocre. Nothing special or artisan about these pizzas. Their cheese was sparse and was nothing special either. I just can't understand why they are charging such a premium for a less than mediocre pizza. I would rate shakespere pizza a 8, dominos a 7, pizza hut a 4 and pizza tree at 5 - to give a rough idea about their pizzas. May be I'm not fair as the other joints are a lot cheaper with a prompt delivery ( btw, pizza tree took 45 minutes for delivery which is OK ). I WILL NOT be getting pizza again from them nor will I recommend it to friends to try out. Thats a lot of $$$ to shell out only to realize that they are mediocre at best. read more

Not sure what's up with the kids working there tonight-- not only were our pizza toppings incorrect, but the dough was as soggy and sad as dominos. My girlfriend and I pick up from pizza tree once a week (and more like 3x a week for goldies bagels--they're the best and so happy they run out the pizza tree window), so tonight was definitely an aberration. But when I called in to say that the order was incorrect, was met with extreme attitude that resolved nothing. Dudes, get your shit together and train your staff. I decided to try something new pizza-wise while in Columbia this past weekend and found myself underwhelmed. Pizza Tree's unique pizzas are a fun concept, but it was a bummer that their signature ones rotate each night so I was unable to get my first choice when I'd initially reviewed the menu. I ended up with the Secret Margherita. I felt it was a little pricey, but after reading rave reviews, I didn't want to judge too early, but I might as well have. The slice just needed more - more sauce, more toppings - more! I could have counted the toppings on my slice on one hand and kept thinking I could have ordered a slice of cheese for the same effect. If the slice was larger, I might have let the lack of toppings slide, but for the size of the slice, it really needed to be loaded up. The thin crust was nice and crisp, but not crunchy. The interior is tiny, but really cute. If you have more than a person or two with you, I'd recommend taking your pizzas to go (or eating a walking slice). The pizza art wall is fun and adds some great character to the place. Staff was friendly enough, especially on a busy Saturday night. I doubt I'll be back. It wasn't terrible, but there are plenty of average pizza joints around. read more

I went to pizza tree for a quick bite to eat before leaving town, based on reviews I was going to go to another pizza place in town but decided to give the lesser known pizza tree a try and I am glad I did. This is a no frills pizza place with a good beer selection and a substantial enough pizza menu. I ordered the margarita pizza, and one of the local beers (ship head?) the service was quick and friendly and the pizza was super tasty. The perfect amount of crunch and a great amount of toppings. I would definitely recommend pizza tree if you are looking for a quick slice and a pint, you won't be disappointed. read more

To those who do not like thin crust stay away. Having moved here from the West coast 3 years ago, one of the few things I have not grown to appreciate is the Midwest's love for thin crust pizza. I had been looking forward to Pizza Tree for a few weeks. I loved the fact that their menu offers creative pizzas. After finally trying the Banh Mi pizza, I was disappointed. Thin crust and super greasy. Had the Pork Belly itself been the greasy component, I could have forgiven that; it was the Pizza itself that was extremely greasy, so much that it soaked through the crust that it looked "wet". It also had way too much of the chile aioli sauce. On a positive note, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Anyway, glad I tried it but will not go back. read more

While the pizza is really 4-stars, the extra star is just for the staff. We'd come in late from travelling and really wanted pizza. The staff at our hotel recommended this place above another more well-known joint so we decided to give it a go. It's a little place with a walk up window and got there right after closing. The staff informed us that they were closed but as we were walking away a woman called us back and asked what slices she could get for us. We told her we were travelling and just wanted to try their place so anything would do. She went back in, got us two slices (peperoni and mac & cheese) and handed them to us, on the house! She said they'd go to waste otherwise. The gesture was very much appreciated. The pizza was good, just greasy enough for a decent NY-inspired style, and the toppings were plentiful. Pizza Tree has wonderful food, but the price is ridiculous and the seating is cramped. I've tried three of Pizza Tree's signature pizzas: Truffled Crimony, Ranch Hands, and Secret Margherita, and all three were delicious. Truffled Crimony was my favorite of the three, it seemed the most flavorful. Ranch Hands was also fabulous, it was the first time I ate something with ground sirloin that wasn't just a marketing ploy. It wasn't $15 for a 12 inch pizza delicious, though. I like that the ingredients are made in house, but I think that Arris Pizza has better cheese, and I didn't think Pizza Tree's crust was anything special. I was fond of Pizza Tree's sauce however, it seemed well balanced and not as sweet as many of the other pizza places in town. The staff seemed friendly and the playlists were solid on both occasions I went there. If you are willing to pay the price for it, I recommend you try Pizza Tree, and see what you think. I don't think the price is right, however, and I think for the same price you can find a higher quality experience with the same quality of food elsewhere in town. read more

Pizza tree is my favorite place (besides MidiCi) to go for pizza in Columbia. I really only interchange between these two. I love their specials but my usual fix is a slice or two or pepperoni and when I order a whole pizza I usually put all the meats and some arugula and feta. Amazing. Their quality is wonderful and their attention to detail and taste as well as ingredients is really valued. I love a good pizza and Pizza Tree really hits the spot everytime.
