Fantastic looking place, it's inside of an old manor and repurposed to be a restaurant, they have upstairs seating when it's busy it seems, the food is really good and a fantastic price and service is just good. Another important note is they don't seat you until your entire party has arrived to keep that in mind if you're a large group. read more

If you take anything away from this restaurant, just know that it's a "one trip salad bar." I was so sick of seeing this plastered everywhere. It's online, it's above the salad bar, it's on the menu, and we were verbally reminded by the waitress. Also requests that "no children under 10 at the salad bar without parental supervision." I don't know who hurt their feelings over this glorious salad bar but it's really not that deep. It's literally a salad bar where most places, if you get it, you get to go back as many times as you want. Especially if you just get small bowls. The large bowls look like the kind you get for typical salad bars. I could understand if it's a one trip if you get the large bowls. My salad was delicious in my 4" bowl... but they make it seem like you will be tried if you break the rules over this salad bar. Pizza was very average, tastes just like Red Baron from my oven. Now for story time behind this honest and blunt review: we were seated right by the bathroom fairly close to the host stand where you could pay there or at your table. From our understanding from what we overheard, a group of teen boys went to leave and I overheard the manager say, "Okay, just make sure you tipped your server well." Which I thought was a very odd thing to say. Come to find out, their server was ours as well and she was upset that she (who is typically a hostess) missed that they had dined and dashed and that she was going to have to use her tip money to cover their bill. Our server was absolutely fabulous, kind, and funny but was clearly upset with herself and was not trying to show it. When we went to pay, my fiancé went to the front to ask if that is was happened and he paid their bill, went to our server, gave her the receipt and said, make sure you get this tip money back at the end of the night and told the manger that it was ridiculous that that all fell on our waitress because of the cheating nature of others and to give her a raise. On the plus side, this restaurant's ambiance was amazing. Was obviously not impressed by my first visit. read more

First visit to this Kinston landmark. One of our party remembers eating here in the 1970s and said the decor hasn't change in 50 years. There are two floors for dining. Great for groups or intimate seating also available. The menu offers appetizers, we had the fried mozzarella cheese sticks. But next time we will try the famous pizza crackers. We had the Specialty Pizza loaded with four meats and lots of others toppings we chose. We even had toppings loaded on only half. They aim to please. The crunchy crust was a real winner, not too doughy and not too thin. I enjoyed my one trip to the salad bar. Another in our party ordered the club sandwich, which is huge and actually was dinner, midnight snack and lunch the next day. Beer and wine are available, but we only drank water. I've been eating here almost 30 years. If we go through Kinston, it is the first place I suggest for a meal. When I was a kid growing up in Lenoir County, I loved getting to go to Pizza Villa and sitting upstairs, admiring the old decor. It hasn't changed much but the food is still just as good and I love taking my son and seeing the same wonder in his eyes when we walk through the door. The staff is always friendly, your cup never runs out of your drink of choice, and everyone orders the pizza crackers with ranch dressing. It is one of the best places anywhere, not just Kinston. read more

I would give this place no stars if I could. My boyfriend and I just went in for dinner We checked apple maps for the closing time and it states they close at 10. We walked in at 8:50 and were greeted by one host. She cleared us a table and while we waited a second host walked up and looked at my boyfriend and I, rolled her eyes and walked away. The first host came back to seat us and gave us our menus. By 8:53 the second host came up to our table, she didn't greet us or anything. She said something along the lines of "well kiddos what are you gonna order, since you know you guys sat down 5 minutes before we close" I was taken aback at this point. We stated that we checked the time before hand and as I said that she inched towards me and stated "well you wanna know why we have to close at 9, because we're short staffed." I said I understand that but that doesn't give you the right to be rude. I'm a nurse and I understand being short staffed but that never causes me to be rude to my patients. I then told her to get out of my face. She then said "well can we get the ball rolling here" And I said no actually we're going to leave. She said "aw did I hurt your feelings" I said no you pissed me off. From that point we got up and I asked for the manager. I explained to the manager everything that happened and he didn't really seem to care. I'm not one to complain but they handled everything the wrong way and we wont be returning. read more

Went to the PizzaVilla based on recommendations from friends.....well. The building is the attraction-vintage and built in 1971. Pizza only comes in thin/thin crust!! Not cheap and the toppings not plentiful for the price. The "pizza crackers" are nothing but unflavored pieces of pizza dough similar to small pita bread bites. Would be Ok except you have to pay for them. They should be free like bread. The experience was ok-not spectacular and certainly expensive. Salad for small bowl with only one trip to salad bar close to $4 per.....fresh and cold but expensive and only one trip-the large salad is $6.75. Tough to pay when a head of lettuce is $.99. Our server Kelly was very outgoing and attentive. read more

The old style feel of this interesting restaurant is something you shouldn't miss if you get the chance. I see a lot of people saying the decor should be updated, but it's like updating the walls of a cracker barrell... You just don't! The restaurant has a lot of charm and the food is really good. Pizza crackers are a must - just try all the sauces to figure out what you really like. Both times we've had the same waitress, who has been highly attentive and a wonderful server. The remainder of the staff seems to be kind and attentive as well. I'd have to say go out on a limb and try something family owned for over fifty years... Pretty good Pizza.....Lasagna, Egg plant, and Manicotti vary depending on who makes it I suppose? Sometimes very good, but the last 3 times we ate there the quality was WAY down. Not good at all. No meat in Lasagna or Egg Plant. Sent them back to get Pizza. They think something of their little salad bar. A salad with a meal is as much as the meal itself. The restaurant looked promising and we heard the pizza was very good. As a frequent visitor I was eager to try Pizza Villa. Unfortunately, it was the worst pizza I've had in years. Frozen pizza would have been better. The toppings were meager. We ordered mushrooms and I counted 11 on a large pie. Woe. So here I am it's Friday night I called into the place at 8:10 it's now currently 8:50 I was told 25 minutes when I then told the cashier how long I had been waiting she looked at me with such disgust!! I asked her if I could get a free sweet tea since I had been waiting for sooo long, I mean I was told 25 min I waited about 20 at my house then drove so I took over 30 min probably total time standing in the restaurant I was only there until 8:55 but here's the kicker the food was cold when I got it as if it had been just sitting out back there like it doesn't even make sense to me!! This is one of those places, if you are from a bigger city, or are just a well traveled pizza connoisseur, then you are not going to be blown away. But that being said, the pizza is good and consistent. We have been eating here since I was a child. I am not from Kinston but I live a little over an hour away. We have family in town and so when we are here we ALWAYS go to Pizza Villa. As a teenager I used to spend summers visiting my cousin and we ate here regularly. The building is so old and adorable. The Broccoli Cheese pizza is my absolute favorite pizza. Obviously, as an adult I have eaten great pizza before and this isn't it, but its good and that's good enough. What I will tell you is that you should still give this place a try, reviews aside. It might not become your favorite place, but you wont be disappointed. And if you have kids, they will love it. All kids love this place. And if you do nothing else, go in and get an order of Pizza Crackers with Ranch dressing. Seriously, they are worth going to eat for any day. For years this was a wonderful place to eat now it is beyond horrible. Pizza crust is so dry. Salad bowls tiny. My husband and I had pizza ,salad ,water and 1 beer $36.00 + $4.00 tip.
