The guided tastings offer a really cool educational wine experience, while the flights are self paced and low key. Both let you try four of their 12+ wines. Yes! Yes, wine for all taste buds, and that's the truth. I was looking for a winery that was close to our hike, and google gave me Uwharrie a nice little gem in the middle of Albemarle. Chad provided us with the wine tasting filled with lots of history and knowledge. I learned Moscato is actually pronounced Moscat not bad for a $7 dollar tasting plus a lesson. That's 7 dollars for seven different wines and a glass. It's rare for me to like more than one wine from a tasting. I like everything sweet. My top favorite was the Strawberry wine during the tasting. read more

Man I wish Uwharrie was a bit closer to my house because this place is awesome! It's a bit of a drive but one that I will happily make. The property is exquisite. As soon as you pull up you will see how pretty it is but once you step onto the patio from the tasting room you will feel like you are in a fairy tale. We stopped on a whim on our way home & enjoyed the winery very much. The grounds are beautiful and it was nice to sit outside in the sun, enjoy the fall day and lovely grounds. We did a tasting & Cindy did an excellent job helping us choose our wines and explaining them to us. The tasting is 7 wines that you choose from their list of about 15. We are not fans of sweet wine, but found several that were on the dryer side that we enjoyed. We were able to then buy a glass & relax on the patio. They do have small snacks in the store, but you may also bring in your own food if you want to. COVID measures include hand sanitizer at the tasting counter & by the door, staff is wearing masks & patrons are required too when not tasting or sitting outside drinking, signs about social distancing are there and there is plexiglass between the staff & patrons - and while it sounds awkward it really was not that noticeable while doing the tasting - you just have to remember to put your glass where they can reach it. All in all a very cute winery & if we ever get back to this area we would stop in again. read more

We had been in town from New York for the day and realized that it was closed. We decided to check and see if anyone was there. We got there and a really nice guy was working we told him how we were only in town for the day. So he got ahold of Crystal the manager I believe and she cam down and opened up for us. We hung outside on there beautiful grounds and sipped some wine then made our purchase. Ive been drinking noble since 2008 and it is my favorite ever. They go above and beyond. We went to the Stanly County Winter Wine Festival and enjoyed this winery! This was actually the first winery we stopped at. Since we really enjoyed each of the wines that we tried, we decided we would keep track of the wines that we liked at each winery to keep tab of what we wanted to buy - so that we didn't get out of hand and really only purchased what we loved. We came back and started to purchase wines around 4 PM - an hour still to go with the festival. Unfortunately, Uwharrie was out of the wines that we wanted to purchase - and that was 4 different wines! Luckily, the guy we were speaking to said hey, we are very close to here and you could go by the winery to get what you want as they close at 6 PM. Thanks for the idea - however, next time come stocked up! So we did exactly that and stopped by the winery on our way home. There was no one in there but two ladies working who were very nice. We asked to taste the four wines we wanted, just to make sure as some of the flavors were definitely running together with as much wine as we had tasted. They were happy to oblige and we left with each of those wines. I'm glad it all worked out that they were close by, as if it were going to be one of the other wineries that was further away, we would have missed out on great wines to take back home with us! read more

I can't begin to describe how amazing this place is! My girlfriend and I decided to check out this vineyard because we were already in the area and we like checking out vineyards and I am very happy we decided to do so! The staff was amazing and friendly as soon as we walked in the door. There are two options for the tasting, $5 for 15 wines and you don't keep the glass or $8 for 15 wines and you can keep the glass. The glass is stemless and very nice. You can also get a glass of wine for $5. Now the wines, all of them are great but the fruit wines are the best, in my opinion. Definitely try the raspberry and the strawberry and the blackberry. Ok, try them all, you will love them! read more

Had our first trip here yesterday and we LOVED it. We were greeted as soon as we stepped into the tasting room and the women who helped us with our tasting were as sweet as could be. The venue is gorgeous with abounding natural beauty. The perfect place to bring a blanket to enjoy a picnic and some good wine. Lots of cute wine related items and housewares for sale as well. We bought an adorable cork cage that's in the shape of a wine bottle. While we are usually red wine drinkers, our favorites at this vineyard were the fruit wines. They are not overly sweet (minus the blueberry wine but it's a port dessert wine so that's to be expected) and the strawberry wine was truly life changing. Can't believe we have such a nice little winery 15 minutes from the house. I definitely plan on becoming a regular. PS they do wine slushies and box certain wines during the summer for people to take out onto the lakes. read more

Well as those that live in NC know you can not avoid the sweet wines and nearly every winery specializes in them. I normally wouldn't even pop into a NC winery but I was with my mother and looking to kill some time. The tasting room was quite nice and full of gifts and specifically pottery which I thought was a cool difference from most. The wines were fine, nothing spectacular but if you like sweet you might would rank them higher than I would any way. The nicest thing is this place is probably rarely packed so you can stop in and pretty much have the space to yourself if you like. read more

I have been to quite a few wineries here in North Carolina, and most of them have at least one wine that really shines. For me, Uwharrie's Noble is my favorite muscadine so far. Uwharrie was the last of the wineries we checked out in the area, and it was by far my favorite. The inside was very homey and country-like, with some amazing pottery throughout. The woman who helped us was very sweet and down to earth about the wines, which I definitely appreciated. Tastings here are $5, but you get to try all 16 wines and have the option of going back for a second try (just in case it was too good the first time). For $3 more, you can get keep your awesome stemless wine glass. Some of their wines are also buy one get one free, which is a REAL deal!! I wish I could have bought a few more bottles, but here were some of my favorites: Noble - I have had a LOT of muscadine wines, but this was the smoothest of them, with the perfect blend of sweet and dry. Plus, it was buy one get one free, so I got two bottles of it for $12!! What a deal!! Peach - I'm not generally a peach wine fan, but this one was AMAZING! It was a little sweet, but not sickeningly so. Great, great peach flavor (from Georgia peaches), and it was all natural flavor. Blackberry - This tasted just like eating a fresh blackberry. I think this was the best one of these I'd had. Their wines run about $12-15. They have a nice patio area overlooking the vines so you can buy a glass and sip. I imagine it's gorgeous here in the summer. This is tied for being my favorite North Carolina winery thus far. read more

Went on Friday to a couple of wineries. This by far was the worst. The wines were not that great but that is not what the rating is about. We were rushed with our tasting, only allowed one cup and was never cleaned between wines, think had 7 tastings in ten minutes. Could tell that we were interrupting the girl working. Tried to talk to her but all she would say is "are you done yet? And next". Had to actually step back so wouldn't poor ontop of the current sample. Don't waste your time. read more

The wines were ok. Its a bit out of the way but we were able to have a glass and sit outside. I think many of the wines were not as good as some vineyards up in the hills. The owner is no longer present and its seems a bit out of the way. They seemed to have a party room and it was hopping. Although we had a nice time I don't think I would revisit and that say volumes read more

Randomly found ourselves in Albermarle and made an impromptu visit to Uwharrie Vineyards on Father's Day. The place was pretty empty, but we didn't mind. For the tasting, you get to try literally every wine that they make. That's pretty awesome. I will say I wasn't super impressed with all of the wines in terms of taste, but the customer service was great and the staff was really friendly, so I still wanted to support and left with half a case for 10% off. The scenery is pretty though and a nice getaway from the city life. read more

Hmmm. . . well I see others love this place. The tour was really informative and interesting. They use less nitrates in their wine. That means less hangover yeah! but you gotta drink the whole bottle in one sitting. Yeah again! On the other hand, I wasn't in love with their wine. I found muscadine wines I preferred better later in our day tour. I must admit I am still warming up to my muscadine grape, but I did not find my favorite one here. I did go home with the noble. They sold me on it's healthy riversitol qualities. I like the idea of being a healthy drunk! read more

I came here solo after a very bad experience at another winery and was made very welcome by the ladies here. Their wines are good, even the ones that are not the sweet muscadine wines that were my favorites. The tasting room is very nice and this winery is set up nicely for catered events (unlike Morgan Ridge, who tries to jam the buffet into the tasting room). They also offer gifts, and specialize in Seagrove pottery, which is nice if you haven't had the opportunity to go there. I've been to a lot of NC wineries, and this one is by far one of the nicest. read more

Out of town guests accompanied me to this winery, which is about an hour from my home. We enjoyed a leisurely and very affordable wine tasting under the expert tutelage of Cindy, who was a gracious hostess. Everyone in our party found our favorites, and we went home with several bottle apiece. My daughter purchased pottery in the gift shop and gave it to me, which was unexpected and lovely. The 15-wine selection in the tasting was explained very thoroughly, the grounds are relaxing and pretty, and we enjoyed a glass out on the patio. What a nice afternoon! read more

My family is in town for Christmas and we decided to hit a few wineries yesterday. This was the 2 nd stop for the day and we were extremely pleased. The girl working in the shop was so friendly she even told us about a nice place to eat lunch Off the Square and gave us directions she also gave is directions to the next winery we was heading to. I am generally a dry wine drinker but they had one wine on the sweeter side that i really enjoyed Frost Velvet and its 15% Awesome!!
