I ordered my favorite beef Ramen and I wasn't sure if it would be a beef cake or fresh sliced beef. I was very happy to find out that it was fresh sliced beef. There was also fresh parsley, soy egg, and loads of noodles (I opted out on the fish cake. I'm not a fan.) I ordered a side of kimchi & a Diet Coke. The waiter was so nice to let me go ahead and eat cause it was 20 til 3 & evidently they closed at 3 o'clock for an hour before the dinner crowd starting at four. So the Ramen was delicious, the kimchi had just the right amount of heat and in the waiter kept my Diet Coke filled and gave me one to go without even asking. Service was top-notch there. Aki was close to our vacation rental on a visit to Huntsville. We were seated right away by the friendly staff and drinks were brought out quickly too. I ordered a passion fruit green tea with boba and it was very refreshing--the boba itself was super good! My husband and I each ordered build your own poke bowls and they came out in huge portions. The fruit in mine wasn't the freshest, but the rest of the ingredients were and the tuna was fantastic! We really liked the Tokyo chicken my husband ordered too. There dining room was spacious with comfortable booths and I liked the art on the walls too. :) Great stop! read more

Oh my god. The dynamite roll. I wish I could eat that all day. When I saw this roll, it has all of my favorite ingredients (smoked salmon, eel, avocado, scallops) and are my go-to rolls (Eel + Philly) wherever I go. I usually go raw compared to cooked or baked, but this changed my perception. It might have been pricy, but it was worth every penny. The Futomaki Roll wasn't that great. One thing I noted was that it contained crab meat yet it was under the Vegetarian Roll. Interestingly, after I ordered, I didn't get it with the crab meat. I did point that out to the server and they came back with a serving of crab meat. It took a while for me to receive my food, and I think this was partially due to the dynamite roll being baked. My server was polite and helpful, and also refilled my water. This place was busy around 5:30 PM on a weekday as well. I have heard wonders about their ramen and plan to revisit to try it. read more

Aki used to be one of my favourite places to eat. Good food at reasonable prices and decent service...no more! We came here to have dinner tonight and ordered two appetisers, two adult meals and one child's meal. Things started going wrong when I asked if instead of rice under my meal, could I have noodles instead. The meal is made to order and you have a choice between fried or boiled rice so I assumed noodles would not be too big an imposition. I was wrong! I was told no, I couldn't...then he thought better of it and said he could for $5 extra...on a $14 meal. I would have paid $3 but $5 seemed gouging so I left it with rice. My meal arrived....before the appetisers. My son and husband had to watch me eat. When I mentioned we had appetisers that we had ordered, the waitress asked if I had specifically requested our appetisers be served before our meal....what?! Sorry...but what is an APPETISER? Regardless...I alone had food...and took my first bite. My hubby stole a bite to eat at the same time and we both exclaimed. I ordered beef, with egg and onions on fried rice. The sauce was both so sweet and so salty that it was impossible to eat. The rice was mushy and unappetising and full of the sauce so it was practically swimming in it. They forgot the onions so brought me raw onions in a side dish. About ten minutes passed and my son got his food, his meal was fine. At this point the appetisers arrived and the server rudely pushed the meal I was eating aside to place them on the table. We were grateful for the appetisers because my husband at least had something to eat. Guests who arrived way after us were served their food first. We then waited another ten minutes for his food to finally arrive. His food and the appetisers all tasted fine but generally the taste and quality were disappointing, nothing special and honestly we could have just gone to a cheap Chinese place to get the same....the quality has definitely decreased but the prices have gone way up. Servers were non existent for any service other than the basics. Had to chase down sweetener, a dish for our soy sauce for the sushi appetiser and someone to put post mix in the drink as my sons soda was just tasteless fizzy water...yet as soon as we all had our food, suddenly the server had time to bring us unsolicited to go boxes, when that didn't work he followed up with a bag, a to go cup of drink and the check in an effort to push us out the door. My son never did get his soda, yet we were charged for it. Overall our dining experience was awful. We spent $80 for disappointing food, no service, a rude attitude and an overall unpleasant experience. We will not be returning and it seems that other customers have decided this too because it was fairly empty tonight. I guess I'm confused given how NOT busy they were as to why we were practically thrown out before we could even finished eating. If you're looking for food and service that don't disappoint I recommend Sushime just up the road...way more selection, definitely better quality and far more worthy of an $80 spend. read more

I've been here twice and it was delicious both times. I've always wanted to try steamed buns so I finally ordered some this trip with beef. The meat was cooked well, the buns were exactly what you'd think--steamed :) Because of that they're bland, but the dipping sauce is helpful. I'm glad I tried them! They were good, but I might not get them again so I can save stomach space for other things. This was my first time ever having gyu don and man. I had no clue what to expect because I'd never seen or heard of it. My friend recommended it to me and it's really delicious. It's saucy with lots of delicious onions and eggs and meat. Of course the dish stays scorching hot the whole time you're eating, so take each bite with caution! I'd definitely try this again. Ate here for the first time recently and the sushi was fresh and delicious, and the service was fantastic! My only complaint would fall under 'ambiance' I guess... First, the lighting in the dining area was very bright and sort of 'off putting'- like the lighting in a school cafeteria or something?! Second, it desperately needs a decor *refresh*- from the paint on the walls to the furniture, and even the container bowl/tray 'thingy' holding the condiments on each table. Those really need to be replaced, or just washed at the very least. BUT, these things will not keep me from returning as I really enjoyed the food and service, and I will definitely recommend it! read more

Overpriced for what you get. Service was slow. The menu had more typos than you could even count. Drinks took longer to get than our food and that was already long. When they brought it out they didn't bring silverware and we had to ask. She then brought out just chopsticks so my friend asked for a fork. After waiting 5 minutes she had to get up and find our waitress to ask again. She said she had forgot and thought she gave it to us already. I ordered the crazy salmon roll (Spicy Crab/ Avocado inaide, Salmon Seared, Eel sauce, mayo, and cheese on top) it was ok. There was a good ratio of meat to rice but the nori was slightly chewy. I also ordered a taro milk tea with coconut jelly. They were out of coconut jelly and yet still charged me for the jelly ($0.95). It tasted pretty good but Not as good as the boba shops. My friend got the dynamite roll (Crab salad, Chase & Avocado baked w/spicy snow crab, Scallops & Eel sauce on top) and brown sugar milk tea with boba. She seemed to like hers. We both shared an appetizer of egg rolls. $4 for two egg rolls. Came with sweet & sour dipping sauce. It tasted ok but doesn't seem like a great deal for the price. Starting with an appetizer of seared tuna, which was beautiful enough for an Instagram photo, we enjoyed a beautifully adorned bowl of ramen and some noodles with shrimp. The ramen was right on par with the best ramen shop I've ever been to. The shrimp and noodles was okay but the sauce was a bit salty. Balancing that out with chili seemed to fix that dish's ills. Service was prompt but tinged with a "don't waste my time" vibe which I didn't appreciate. This place wasn't terribly busy during lunch time which made it quick to get in. The hostess greeted and sat me very quickly. I ended up settling on the "Boss Bowl" which was over $16. It appeared that it would have more fish protein in the bowl as it offered 3 different types of fish. This was not the case, it only seems to offer variety of fish not quantity. The one thing it had lots of was the sauce. Too much sauce personally. You can see it in the picture that this bowl was drowning in it. To be honest it was a bit over powering when it came to flavor balance. Personally I will never order this here again. Aki was absolutely delicious! So this is a new restaurant and I've been wanting to try it out since they opened. There aren't that many good sushi places in our area, so I've been eying their menu. I wanted to check it out on a Friday and it did not disappoint. I ordered Honey Green Tea to drink, hands down the absolute best hot green tea I have ever had. They put honey in it for you, I'm sure you could ask for light honey or no honey but it was perfect for a colder afternoon. The tea pot and cup was a perfect touch. One tea pot gave me around 8 tiny cups which was plenty. I ordered the house salad, Manhattan Jalapeño Sushi App, and the Volcano roll. The house salad has a ginger dressing that is thicker than competitors in the area and it was the BEST dressing. Because of its thickness it coated the fresh cold iceberg perfectly. The Manhattan Jalapeño Sushi Appetizer was something different but delicious. It's Deep fried half jalapeno with spicy tuna, cream cheese & eel sauce and spicy mayo. The tempura batter was very light and it was a great app. You get a lot for the price so I was happy with that. The Volcano Roll was Shrimp tempura, Cream Cheese & Avocado inside; spicy Crab, eel Sauce and spicy mayo on top. There was a ton of the spicy Krab on top. It was very very good. It was a ton of food for the price. Overall hot tea, a salad, app, and sushi was $29 before tip. It was very fresh. The service was great, and everyone seemed very nice and attentive. Stumbled across this gem with a girlfriend and the experience was nothing short of amazing. The restaurant appears new - super clean and spacious. Staff was very hospitable and pleasant. We specifically wanted to try some ramen, on this cold, dreary day. We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. To my surprise, it was a very generous serving, with a well-balanced ratio of broth to ingredients. We'd also ordered the sushi special from their lunch menu, so I wasn't able to finish the ramentic and took the remaining to go. Everything we tasted was fresh and delicious. After finishing up our meals, we stuck around for a bit, "catching up". Our server offered us some cold tea that tasted like fresh strawberries as a courtesy. SUSHI IS AMAZING!!! Ramen could be better, but it's nothing a little soy sauce can't fix

It was not the best spot. Of course, I know the photos are for business purposes & are ads, mostly. I crave Poke so I wanted to try Aki and compare to I Love Sushi Express and Aki loses hands all the way down. I built a tuna poke bowl and the Tuna wasn't fresh & tasted like dry chicken though it was raw. They didn't give me very much seaweed salad which was disappointing as this place is crazy expensive! There was absolutely no flavor perhaps BECAUSE I only received 6 diced pieces of mango & a few drips of cucumber. I chose pickled ginger but that still didn't provide flavor and they put tofu & egg though I .. ok. Starts at $12.95 I ordered sushi as well because I can kill a few rolls in one sitting but look, I asked the cashier what was in the veggie rolls and she gets all hood with me "what say on there is what in it" now why she snappin like a scary turtle. I did laugh though. But can you still tell me what's in that roll?? The crispy cooked roll was delish and so were the spring rolls but I have never seen a micro spring roll!!! The ramen is just as sparse -Kamado wins hands down here too. This place doesn't pack on the food for the price. Jasmine milk tea taste like water & milk. They do not use the powdered Bubble tea flavors as does everyone else, they use syrup which is weird. Total cost= $52.09. It's not worth it nor is it worth the drive. Also, this place needs a serious cleanup and quick. It wasn't busy so no long waits. I'm done here & I'm not going back. read more

I have been to this restaurant a bunch since they have opened in 2021 and must say the service has down graded a ton, night and day level of service. The hostess was more than rude, I stood waiting 15 minutes before I wad even remotely acknowledged, I was ignored when I was attempting to find out the wait time since I had been ignored for the first 15 minutes. Then when the lady acknowledged what I was asking, she told me briskly that she was trying to get everyone seated; mind you there were three vacant tables, no one in front of me cause they finally seated a another couple that had waited a while and a group that came after me. So she then asked if the people behind me came first I don't know if that was it signal something ignorantly distasteful, but me and the couple that waited a extremely long time had to wait a rather long time and we are all AA and the Asian or White patrons following were greeted and also acknowledged for seating with less seating availability. The only reason I did not just leave was I had waited a bit, had a craving, and was starving. I just couldn't believe the rude service overall and then how even the server greeted everyone but me and how quick he was with others and how he checked on them I got my food basically without any service or acknowledgement, not even a drink refilll. They even apologized for the wait and asked if the other patrons needed anything else, unlike me having to ask for napkins and never getting sauce. It's goes without saying that this was last time as the only time the server came was to ask if my bill was ready, so I politely took my time and finished my food as I deserved to. Hopefully it is not a race then, but its baffling. I'm so shocked overall this place started out so great for me idk if there was a staff turn over or what but I'm just without words for the difference in service and then the out fight display of indifference to paying customers. But eventhough I was treated not so well I just followed the mantra of kill them with kindness, eventhough it sucks to literally pay for service and not receive it not nearly to the level of the other patrons. read more

Decided to try this place again cause before my only complaint was the rude workers, and my sushi was mediocre. But before, i only had a spider roll for take out and it was so mediocre i didn't even feel like mentioning it in my last review. But THIS is worth mentioning. In the photos below, that is my boyfriend's steak and shrimp teriyaki MEAL, which was $22! for 95% rice awesome... and the other photo is my chicken teriyaki MEAL for i believe maybe $15-$18... and might i add, if ur going to give me 90% rice you could atleast give us some teriyaki sauce.. but maybe i'm crazy, and people just enough eating this much PLAIN white rice! but for me personally, this is absolutely ridiculous. i have never in my LIFE, seen a place who gives this little meat in a meal... why charge $15-$20 for a meal when it's 95% rice, cause i can promise you all this rice doesn't even cost $3. Cause i can go buy pounds of rice for $3-$5!! I have tried, over and over, to give this place a chance, cause i've heard great things about it and see great reviews, but time and time again they show they're NOT worth it!! I got a Thai tea, which was good. The salmon sashimi was good as well. I got a dragon roll which was disappointing and annoying. Almost every piece fell apart almost immediately and made a complete mess. The eel was so minimal which is usually my favorite part. The taste overall was decent but not worth the trouble. I ordered some ramen for lunch the following day and will update on that. Hoping it's better. The waiter was attentive and nice. They say me right next to bathroom which smelt terrible and made the visit unpleasant. Update: The Ramen I ordered to go was delicious! After getting the Godzilla Roll and the Kevin Roll on February 14 th and within 20-30 minutes developing a severe headache, projectile vomiting and severe stomach cramping and episodes of diarrhea, I notified the local Health Dept. who did do a surprise visit and found that NO every 4 hour log was being kept of food rotation. The Health Dept worker told me that she did write this restaurant up and that they indeed did have a history of MANY incidents of NOT STORING FOOD AT THE PROPER TEMPERATURES!!!! Well, NO WONDER There was FOOD POISONING!! So this isn't a " One time mistake"!! Aki Japanese Cuisine has a history of multiple multiple incidences of getting in trouble for improper food storage. RUN, don't walk from this very dangerous restaurant. I don't know why they aren't shut down!!!!! I am an RN of over 40 years and I recognize food poisoning when I see it. DISGUSTING! read more

Kamado has WAY better ramen. The ramen here was not that great. Noodles were very over cooked. Chicken was cooked in some weird egg breading. I want pleased. The sushi was decent, which is why I'm giving 3 stars. We ordered the sweet heart roll. The bubble tea was also pretty decent. But not as good as Shake It or Kung Fu Tea. Will I be back?
