Alright I'm done with this spot. The pizza flavors are limited and there's better pizza in the neighborhood (Clarkville), the menu is basically pizza, tinned things, and little else, and the staff has gotten increasingly unfriendly. There's two guys behind the bar that I like - one is named Shep and the other one is taller and thin with dark hair and super nice but I don't know his name. Everyone else here is so blah and seems miserable. And they don't even have quizzo anymore. read more

This had been a five star review I wrote last year but that's changing to a one: They apparently stop taking online orders 75 minutes before they close, but that's not posted on Google or their site. They don't have a phone. So I run over there and get there 3 minutes after their kitchen closes and there was zero give or take, zero understanding. If your kitchen closes at 9 and you close at 10, why would one assume you can't order after 8:45? You can't call them because "this is West Philly," whatever that means. I come here every time I'm in town. I get pizza to go. I get four packs. I get merch. Forget that. Oh also, it was trivia night and the place was busy. Great pizza and delicious beer! As an IPA drinker, I really enjoyed the gully and took home a 4-pack. The wings were tasty and we enjoyed a simple pepperoni and cheese pizza. We were sad that the ice cream machine wasn't working when we visited and would like to return to try it! read more

Service was friendly, and the food came out in about 10 minutes. Good pizza with plenty of pepperoni, not too little or too much cheese and reasonable pricing. I only wish the cheese didn't slide off so much, even after letting it cool for a while, but it was still tasty! I love the pizza! Ordered from the Western 'burbs on a Saturday before 5pm. Selected a cheese and a pepperoni for pu. Ready in 35 mins and notified by text. Cool neighborhood south of University City. I was lucky enough to pull a spot right out front but can see double parking for pu is a thing too. The pizzas truly are phenomenal. Thin, well done crust with occasional char. The cheese is a mix of mozzarella and maybe pecorino giving it a unique and delicious flavor. This is a new restaurant that I was really excited to visit, I saw it on a local Philadelphia News Station. I was very familiar with the location as a restaurant and bar filled the same space before Covid. Because I know parking comes at a Premium. I made sure to arrive early. Once inside, I realized that it may not be such a new place. After viewing the menu, eating the food. It's clearly nothing new, nothing to see here I'm going to keep it moving.! Is the same overpriced dull food and not so special beer in a extremely overly gentrified neighborhood. With the demographics, change, restaurants or people who make arts and crafts, try to make it out what they're pushing to be the new thing by throwing expensive prices on junk. read more

I forgot to leave a favorable review even though I went 2 months ago I still remember loving this place. It's nestled in this very university suburb where parking was super easy. Service was quick and ambiance matched the vibe well. The beer was very good! The Bindle, Kin, and their wines were highlights! I was so disappointed when I heard Dock street was closing this location. I spent many nights there with a cheeseburger pizza shooting the shit with a pack of friends. Well I'm happy to report that I don't think CC changed anything. I even asked if they still had the same chef. We were told they didn't. Came here with a few friends on a Friday evening around 5:30pm and we were lucky enough to be seated right away! I got a beer - the Whir (Belgian witbier) which was nothing outstanding but solid. We split two apps - the chips and onion dip and the charred cauliflower (with chili butter, jalapeño, rosemary, almond). Both were super delicious! For pizzas, we split the curry squash (cream, mozzarella, butternut squash, sunchoke, curry oil, tomato chutney, basil, cilantro, parmigiano reggiano) and cheese (red sauce, pecorino romano, mozzarella, basil, parmigiano reggiano) since we wanted one white sauce and one red sauce. Carbon Copy is the newest brewpub in West Philadelphia, taking up the historic firehouse at the corner of 50th and Baltimore Avenue, which also use to house Dock Street West. The beer variety is a host of consumer friendly/traditional style beer ; meaning there is something for everyone. And just in case beer isn't your thing, Carbon Copy also makes wine! ( The cab franc is my personal favorite) Beer is the namesake , but food is the showstopper! What I ordered: Pork Belly 8/10 Bite sized and fried to perfection. Served with a steamed cabbage sauced in a mustard au jus! Charred Cauliflower 9/10 This dish packs some heat! Served with with a chili butter and sliced pickled jalapeño. Pepperoni Pizza 7.5/10 Tons of pep, and overall good flavor, but did not pass the fold test. Most likely too much red sauce. Such a cute building with yummy food. Especially that mushroom pizza--that crust was so crisp and delicious, with all these delectable little bubbles. And they did not skimp on the mushrooms, it was totally covered. Flavor was great, too! But the salad...it was a bit weird. Absolutely doused in furikake, which did not complement the pizza at all. And the wings were juicy but the buffalo sauce was thick and too salty. Pretty good, but not great. Service was fast and friendly, though. I would be back for pizza. Pleasantly surprised. This renovated firehouse turned brewery/restaurant was not what I was expecting. Nice curb appeal, not a big space but enough table and bar seating, brick oven, and very clean and bright space. I was expecting a darker look inside. I'm not a big fan of beets, but I love burrata. The beet and burrata salad was very good and a good size to share. Love the gold utensils, feels fancy. The mushroom pizza was absolutely terrific! The flavor was spot on, loved it! I want to try the other flavors, especially the squash one, so guess I'll have to go back. They were sold out of the beer I wanted so I went with second choice. Neighborhood regular at Dock Street. Tried Carbon Copy 3 times now - 3 strikes and out. After a mediocre caesar salad, then a lackluster pizza the biggest crime of all on our last visit: they were out of red wine? On a weekend, to run out of wine? Yes, beer is the focus but a large part of the population doesn't drink beer. Perhaps it's because they only offer two selections, that's right, only two. One strange tasting white & one unremarkable red. Not a Dry Prosecco or crisp Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel or Rosé. Not even a light body Pinot Noir. Wow, shortsighted to exclude the non-beer drinkers. Final straw, we strolled the few blocks to Carbon Copy on a hot summer Friday night for a soft serve ice cream, yet, bummer, they ran out of ice cream. ??? I don't think I'll be going back soon due to the price point and wait time, but I thought the pizzas were delicious. I also appreciated the plethora of vegetarian/vegan options represented in both the snacks and pizza sections. Ambiance: Walking in, there is a lively vibe with more straightforward and simpler, modern decorations blending a pizzeria/brewery environment. You can see parts of the brewery equipment through giant windows behind long counter, and it has an overall laid-back atmosphere. Food: We ordered a snack and two pizzas for our group of 4. - Charred cauliflower: Based on the images I had seen on Yelp, I had anticipated this to be a crispier, golden cauliflower dish. However, it came out as a more boiled cauliflower with some char to it, which was still decent, but a bit underwhelming. However, I did enjoy the accompanying tasty chili butter, and the chopped almonds were a pleasantly surprising addition with their crunch factor. - Cheese pizza: Solid pizza. Came out piping hot. I appreciated the fresh sharpness of the pecorino romano shining alongside the salty, savory parmesan reggiano here. - Mushroom pizza: A+. Delicious. Savory. Umami bomb. I loved the choice of the mushrooms in this dish (maitake, shiitake, cremini) with the two sharp cheeses. The first bite into this crispy, warm slice was an immediate explosion of intense flavors, that ended all too soon by my last bite that I devoured. Service: No complaints about the server, but the wait for pizza was incredibly long. It felt that it must have been 40 minutes before the first pizza came out, and then another 10-20 minutes for the second pizza. I wasn't anticipating a slow 3-course meal at this brewery/pizzeria when walking in. While I would give the mushroom pizza a 5/5, I think my experience had to be a 3/5 due to a mix of the cost and wait times. We ended up spending about $16-$17/person, and some of us still left a bit hungry, and this felt unreasonable to me. The cauliflower snack portion size felt rather small for the price, and the pizzas are not filling enough for the cost; I think a possibly thicker crust to the pizzas would honestly help a lot. Had the rosso (sauce only, no cheese) and a Dornick cider. Sauce is zippy, not sweet, very tomato-y. Crust is THIN but supports itself, incredibly light with a great crunch helped by the corn meal on the underside. The garlic is prominent. With so much garlic, the basil (which looks great) is a bit lost. Not sure what the bread crumb does. I am trying to imagine the pie without it. Maybe it is a thickener for the sauce or contributes a bit to the mouth feel? The cider was a perfect complement, clean with just a hint of sweetness. The samosa and mushroom pies look amazing. Wonderful pizza good beer good service brought friends from out of town everyone had a good time

On the advice of a friend, I got the Samosa pizza. The crust and flavors are very good, especially the curry oil. However, the ease of eating could be improved if they just cut the potatoes up a little bit more. I ended up squishing them with my fingertips to spread around in smaller chunks, which otherwise were a few and far between, and weighed down each slice so that it had to be a 2-handed operation. I also got the salad with quinoa crunch, which was very fresh, and the side dressing was also thick and flavorful, but they mixed in so much seasoning (I wanna say furikake? Something seaweed-like) that it was extremely salty. I was at home and ended up mixing in 100% more greens and some additional vegetables to try to spread out the saltines. I think it ruined the salad to have such a strong seaweed flavor. I definitely could not have muscled through it as-is, it woulda gone in the trash if I couldn't have doctored it up. I don't think the owners understand the audience of who they are servicing. Was disappointed to see that a mushroom pizza, while tasty wasn't worth $25, especially because it wasn't huge. Also, menu needs to be updated. Items marked vegan weren't or weren't in stock. Also, there are not sprinkle toppings in shakers. I couldn't even get black pepper. They did have parm that was lactose free. I think it's a better idea to go to Clarkville a few blocks up on Baltimore Ave, honestly. You essentially get similar items for less plus you don't have to question the menu options in the event that a server doesn't notify that a change was made. read more

Yes to this place. One hundred percent yes. I loved Dock Street. I have so many memories of after-school-dinners with my kids, after work hang out with friends, and even a "come be sad with us" when Donald Trump won the presidency. So when they announced they were closing it bummed me out. But when I walked into Carbon Copy tonight I was pleased. Even though I loved Dock Street, the aesthetic was a bit drab. Cave-like. This place is bright, green and inviting. I loved that it felt fresh. But the important part is the food! Wow! It did not at all disappoint. We started with the special for appetizers which were the meatballs. PACKED with flavor. And the red sauce was delicious! The mushroom pizza was the best pizza I've had in a while. The pecorino Romano hit just right with the shitaki and cremini mushrooms with the best sturdy, charred crust. I didn't plan on finishing it... but I couldn't help it. So good! I indulged in the Gully. A citrusy, white wine-esque (their description) IPA and it was so good I didn't veer off to try another. Really good service, beer and food! I'm not vegan, but my friend is, so we ordered a vegan cheese pizza. It was actually really good! We also tried the vegan soft serve, which was also surprisingly similar to typical soft serve. The beer selection is awesome, and the servers were able to give good recommendations based on our tastes. I definitely want to return here at some point! read more
