Clean, quick and quirky. Pizzeria Cappelli is a quick stop for late night pizza in the Gayborhood, right in all the action in between Woody's, Franky's and Voyeur. The pizza is EXPENSIVE, 8-9 dollars a slice, but, it's a neighborhood staple and not really a place for a quick lunch. Most of their patrons are coming after the bars, and after a few drinks you're not too concerned about a 10 dollar slice. On the weekend, there's a security guard at the door making sure things run smoothy, and a few guys behind the counter taking people's orders and heating up slices. Honestly I was scared reading the reviews. The pizza didn't look THAT appetizing but it wasn't that bad! The perk of this place is that it's open late. It's probably not somewhere I'd come during the day because there's probably better pizza open, but at night it's fine. I enjoyed the honey barbecue chicken slice. It was actually lowkey good. The cheese slice was ok. I've had better pizza and I've had worse. Again, the pull of this place is that it's open until 4 am. The people who work here are extremely rude. I ordered 2 slices of plain pizza which cost $19, and I made a comment to my friend saying "2 slices is $19". Thanks to the man who was opening for the night who recommended a place down the street as we were looking to dine-in and eat and Cappelli's is take out only. It was just my wife and I at the moment, and so on the way back to our hotel we stopped in and bought a couple slices for our son as a thank you for recommending a different sit-down place. We stopped here for late night/early morning eats after a concert! This is a perfect spot if you're out and looking for something quick...and it was surprisingly good!! Shoutout to MOE! He was absolutely amazing and friendly. We got a chance to chat and he made some pizza fresh for us. Excellent customer service, even at 1am. Was looking for a late night snack when we found this place was still open, so we grabbed 4 slices. My personal favorite was the white slice, though the Buffalo chicken wasn't bad either. this was literally the worst pizza I've ever had when considering quality, quantity, and price. What makes the pizza so insulting is the price 3 slicesof their pizza is so expensive that I asked the guy twice if he charged me properly and I'm from Manhattan! even if it was cheap, it would've still been disgusting. It was soggy with cheap cheese and bizarre tasting red sauce. The sausage was so bad it tasted like a cheap breakfast sausage and not an Italian sausage. Insanely expensive!!! Other reviews mention criminal, and they're right. You've even got people coming from NYC telling you you're pizza is crazy expensive! Stop gouging and taking advantage of drunk people and the community! You could surely still make money hand over fist without these astronomical prices. I've been coming here since before it re-opened a decade ago. Gay Pizza saved me many a night after a night out and being open as late as they are. I'd happily grab 3-4 different slices whenever I came in. Before diving into this 2 star review, please understand that this was not my first visit to Pizzeria Cappelli aka "Gay Pizza". The only positive side of this establishment is that it's open late, and I mean very late. The space inside is tiny and can get packed in seconds with little wiggle room. The pizza itself is nothing to brag about. The pizza is made for a night out drinking, in fact, it's the Jack in the Box of pizza. Pizzeria Cappelli was within walking distance of our last stop, and I successfully swayed my crew to go the pizza route with me. This pizzeria is located in a super fun part of town, and the people watching at 1:00 AM was fab. The employees had a great sense of humor, and they kept the line moving. We wound up hitting Insomnia Cookies afterward (as per) but my soul was warmed by our pizza excursion. Decent pizza, but a bit pricey when ordering by the slice. We called to place an order and got a voice mail stating that they are open from 7pm to 4am and only offer walk in customers. They do NOT deliver. Luckily, it was one 1 block alway from our hotel. We ordered slices because it was late and didn't want to wait. They had a huge variety of options to choose from, so that was nice. They were pre-made and were just reheated in the oven. The pizza was good, but nothing too special. I would eat here again even with the prices being a little high, but everything in the area near her is a little high. Worth checking out if you need some late night grub. read more

The pizza here is the best around center city and the employees are always so kind and friendly! Normally come in later during the weekends but stopped by this afternoon for a couple slices and the man who was working was so outgoing and helpful - he recommended a great slice and made our visit memorable. My friend recommended this place and there was a line out the door so I figure it must be a good place. I must be spoiled by my favorite pizza spot in St Pete and Clearwater, Florida because this place was a disappointment. I ordered the sweet chicken pizza based on the employee's recommendations. I was disappointed because I could hardly taste any tomato sauce or cheese. One slice costs $4.50 plus tax which isn't bad but I was disappointed that the pizza fell flat of my expectations of a hot, gooey cheese pizza fit for a night out after drinking. read more

A friend and I ordered wings and the Sicilian pie. Absolutely delicious! For there just being two of us, it was entirely too much pizza. We made a valiant attempt but there did not seem to be an end in sight. We built our own pizza with vegetables and everything was cooked perfectly. It was a great late night snack that had us down for the count. The wings were large and cooked just right: not too soft and not too hard.
