While in the city of Philadelphia sometime ago for Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run, Fairmount Pizza and Grill was recommended to me by my Lyft driver who at the time was dropping me off at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Since I am in Philadelphia often, I just could not help but bookmark it for a potential visit, plus explore the menu for anything that would capture my interest as a vegetarian. I will forget to turn my panties around when putting them on, wearing them inside out, but rest assured I will not forget what restaurant was recommended to me. It is the foodie in me I swear, but I digress! While exploring the menu online, I thought that it was so cool that Fairmount Pizza had breakfast items featured on its lengthy menu which I have not ever seen before with a pizza restaurant. It also made it tough while attempting to get a gauge of what would capture my interest because prior to this ordering experience, I had no idea that there would be so much to choose from. I ordered from Fairmount Pizza during my birthday getaway to Philadelphia as a treat to myself. With the weather not only being cold outside, but rainy and snowy as well, it made me consider ordering online via yelp with delivery rather than visiting onsite. On the menu, I was drawn to the Veggie Pizza which was what I ordered along with a bottled soda (Coca-Cola Zero Sugar). It took forty-two minutes from the time my order was acknowledged by Grubhub to the arrival of it at my hotel, the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. A shout out to the Grubhub delivery driver for making that happen in that reasonable time, as well as contacting me rather than leaving it in the lobby with no contact whatsoever. I cannot thank him so much for that transaction. My mouth salivated as I took the hotel elevator back up to my room and smelled the Veggie Pizza. A woman in the elevator with me complimented the smell of it and I responded with what it was, a Veggie Pizza! So nicely presented and fresh was the Veggie Pizza. There were a very generous portion of vegetables on it too; so generous that pieces of mushrooms, olives, spinach, and tomatoes fell as I grabbed each slice eaten, yes! And each slice of it was so delicious, * chef's kiss *. Being that I had a great ordering experience, I would surely order from Fairmount Pizza and Grill again when visiting the city of Philadelphia. Worst Chicken cheesesteak I've ever had, they place precooked chopped chicken breast on top of unmelted cheese on the roll.. basically Roll, 1 slice of cheese on each side of the roll and the dry pre cooked chicken on top of the unmelted cheese. When I called they said that is how they do it there. Hubby and I ordered a couple cheesesteaks from here on a Friday evening. They were pretty busy. Being our first time here, we had several questions that needed some answers to get a perfect authentic "Philly" cheesesteak. I ordered one with grilled onions, mushrooms, & cheez whiz. Hubby ordered his with cheez whiz, sweet peppers, onions, & mushrooms. We enjoyed our subs very much. It was very delicious. My only complaint is that the cheez whiz was obviously put on the bread first, making it the last thing we taste on the sandwich. Best pizza in the Fairmount neighborhood, but the interior leaves something to be desired. I would not recommend using the bathrooms here because they're disgusting. Highly recommend for takeout, the whole pizzas are actually pretty cheap even if you get some of the specialty ones. Slices are roughly $5 dollars depending on the toppings, and they can be a little bit dry because they sit out for a while. It's been a long long while since I took a gamble on this place again. I came with a friend over the summer and just ordered a slice. It was unremarkable and dry. Yes, I said dry. I don't know how that's possible when the problem is usually the opposite. I decided not to remark on it since my star rating was already the lowest it could be. I gave them a third and unfortunately final try. I got a chicken cheese steak and a turkey hoagie because I couldn't decide which I wanted more. Both were bad. The cheese steak was cut in large chunks of meat not finely chopped like most places do and the taste was not great either. The turkey on the hoagie was not good as well. Mano is an unprofessional manager at Fairmount Pizza I received my order last evening and called them immediately after to say that the sandwiches were made wrong. I spoke to Mano after hanging on the phone for 15 minutes and he said that he would send the driver to come and pick up the food and give me a credit. This AM I called and spoke to Mano again, now he claims I never wanted to send the food back and have a credit its a liar. I am walking the food in today myself and getting the credit. I cant believe after being here 30 years and being a good customer that this guy can be so rude and unprofessional. Yes, I will spread the word, please be careful here - Mano is not nice. I'd say the pizza is neither great or terrible, just somewhere in the middle or below average. Tried two different slices here and they were just okay. Regular slice was fairly standard and not memorable. Stuffed slice was interesting but was overall a bit of a letdown. Slices are a bit pricey compared to other spots, and the counter staff aren't too friendly unfortunately. Line moves quick. It's a pizza spot and it serves that purpose, but wouldn't go out of my way to come back unless I was in the area and was desperate for any pizza. Both toppings tasted fresh, but the amount of toppings on the pizza was pretty average -- would suggest for the shop to put a bit more since each topping adds $3 to the price.
