The Google reviews about the new owners' pizza were mixed, but figured I would try it anyway. Overall, loved the pizza! The crust was thin, crispy, yet a little chewy (in a good way). It's a certain style of woodworker pizza. It's not like Defazios or Bacchus which are just smaller and puffier and crispier. My husband and I both really loved the toppings. They were generous when we ordered double pepp and the margarita was really nice too. Overall, the size of the pizzas and the price and the taste were great! I'm sure I'll order again. read more

There's a lot of pizza places to select from but we are glad this is the one we landed on. The full staff were pleasant and treated the experience like we were guests in their home and I saw the same for others doing order pick ups. We went with the basic cheese pizza and it was gone quickly! I'd be surprised if we came back this way, but if we did, this would be a stop on the list for sure. read more

The weather was sweltering.We weren't keen on cooking. My husband and I noticed that Pizzeria Michelina was open. We placed a lunchtime take out order: one personal cheese pizza and one personal Puttanesca. As I've said before, it's a small but cute restaurant. There is seating. It's got an open kitchen so you can see the brick oven which is big. It takes up most of the kitchen. The four members of the staff and management who somehow fit into that small kitchen greeted us as we came in. They said,"It's warm in the kitchen but not as bad as last week because we've been working on making it better." This time, I remembered to bring my phone so I've some photos to share! They reopened and are better than ever. Enjoyed the kale and potato pizza which sounds weird but was glorious. The potato was like a soft pillow of goodness perfectly contrasting the crisp flavorful crust. The best thing is the homemade balsamic vinegar sauce. Say yes! You won't be disappointed. read more

It's definitely tasty. I LOVE the wood fire taste. I had two types...the Marinara Pizza and the Plain Cheese Pizza, I DEF loved the Marinara Pizza more! I wasn't expecting that but it definitely has a better taste and consistency, not sure why seeing as their assumingly made from the same ingredients (unless the sauce used for the Marinara Pizza is different than the other pizzas) but it has a better complexity and mouthfeel. As far as the regular pizza I might opt out of it in favor for the Mariana, it just tastes a little too bland for my taste. I would order from there again. The owner has big plans for specialty pizzas, but at the moment it is a well-above-average neighborhood place. There are currently two specialty pizzas available with the clam taken off the menu while he tinkers with the recipe. But the good news is you can also get standard pizzas with their wonderful dough, for the bargain price of 2 slices plus a fancy soda (I had a lemon Pellegrino) for $7. I recommend the sautéed vegetables; sausage was also good. The pizza may be high end, but the setting is plain, with a few tables and a tv playing. The only reason to eat on premises is to enjoy the pizza piping hot out of the oven. read more

This is the best pizza I have eaten in my whole life. To be fair, I don't necessarily consider myself a pizza expert but I have lived in and eaten pizza in a number of cities (LA, NYC, SF, Chicago, ATL). I also have tried the reportedly good pizza in albany (defazio's for example). However this was just hands down the most amazing pizza. The ingredients were fresh. The crust was thin, soft, chewy but also slightly crispy. The cheeses were high quality. Talked to one of the owners who said they're building a greenhouse in the basement to grow fresh vegetables and ingredients. They're also in the process of making their own mozzarella for the pizzas. The owner is part Sicilian and has been trying to re-create his grandmas pizzas for over 20 years. Right now they only have two of the pizzas available because it's still a soft opening. I will say that they are working on fixing some of the workflow issues. For example, yesterday they closed early because they had issues with the cash register. However, I think that with the full menu, and working out some of the kinks of opening, this will become the best pizza in the capital region. read more

Great pizza is back in the Delaware Avenue Neighborhood. To start off the pizza tastes really good, so this means the sauce is seasoned well, not too acidic or sweet, and the ingredients are good...I ordered a margheritta and added mushrooms and it was delish. The dough is the right mixture of firm, but supple and chewy. The pizza has the right amount of char for brick oven baked. Five stars to Pizzeria Machelina. read more

Finally, Albany has good pizza! This is not quite Neapolitan, but it is in that direction and scratches that itch. The menu is limited at the moment as they ramp up, but the Margherita is so good I'm not sure I would take much advantage of more options. The staff are so kind and the place has a joyful vibe. I love the stream of customers excitedly picking up their orders and complimenting the staff on the excellence of the food. I've been here about five times now. Divine. The last time I had pizza this good I was in Venice and thought I would cry it was so sublime. Love the description of the battle ax of a nana that is on the tables, the renaissance portrait prints on the walls.
