Pizzería Paradiso is our preferred pizza place in our neighborhood. While we usually order pizza to go, this time we decided to have lunch at the restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service. We sat in the back room which in the early afternoon is full of light, much appreciated in the winter time. I simply love that they decided to open a location so near to us! My fav over 20 years ago was the P street location and now it's just awesome they have one in Spring Valley/ AU park. since I have a school aged child, I just love this fun, bright, new restaurant so close to home. The staff is so so nice - while I had a short wait at the door and Santiago -The AGM was Taking care of me.. every other server who walked by asked if I was taken care of. True service!! Pizza was superb -I had prosciutto with arugula on mine- my servers recommendation when I asked for help! Love the outdoor seating -and the pinball machines! We needed this place in our hood! This was my first visit since covid and I stopped in for a quick dinner - pizza the 12" was ok but no worth the $23 - what irritated me was I had to teach down my server a couple of times as I was eating indoors and nobody came by my table apart from dropping off my pizza - my water glass was empty and I eventually had to go to the bar to ask for water at which stage ( all kids working there no adult in charge ) then someone from back of house come out and put a carafe of water on my table ans my bill had a 18% gratuity added to the bill - that explains why nobody stopped by the table or seemed to give a dam as they were guaranteed a tip anyway - bad move guys I won't be back for $30+ I couple get better down town read more

Tried the gluten free pizza crust on a 9 inch Margherita pizza with one added topping. It was the worst pizza I've ever eaten, and costed me a total of $26 with a tip(it's not the poor server's fault it tasted terrible). I really wanted it to be good. I was optimistic and understanding of the fact that gluten free stuff just isn't the same, but it was just exceptionally bad. Tasted like air-fried cardboard with mediocre sauce and cheese on top. Maybe the regular pizza is good, but don't go here for gluten free pizza. read more

This was a great find. The service was great, the pizza excellent. It rivals any of the wood-fired pizza joints in Bethesda. The pizza was remarkably oil-free and coated with just enough sauce (not drowned in it). The wings were probably the some of the best buffalo-style wings I've had in the area - not overly salty or soaked in sauce, but juicy with a nice kick. The only let-down was my wife finding her neatly wrapped fresh cutlery not so fresh, with crusted food remains on her fork. It was apparently important enough for the server to flag to the manager and show him, but we never got so much as an apology from the manager (the server did apologize), nor did he so much as comp a dessert or drink. That's the only reason they missed out on a 5-star review. Hopefully it was an isolated incident - we'll go back for seconds some time, for sure. The pricing was reasonable compared to similar restaurants in Bethesda. I will caution customers that parking is a pain and the lane in front is very tight. Park in the lot in the back or on the street (if you can find space). read more

I called at 4:30pm on Friday to ask about wait times since they don't take reservations. I was told that as long as I get there before 6:30pm I wouldn't have an issue. Sure enough we got there at 6pm only to be told the wait was over an hour for 3 adults and a toddler. read more

Incessant noise generated from 4 coin-operated gaming machines, located immediately adjacent to the bar. Lunched there, today, only to experience several young kids playing and literally smacking the machines for the entire time that we dined! Unnecessary cacophony and just compounds the already high noise level. Thanks, parents, for your concerned oversight of your budding pinball wizards-in-training. To go back? No....I think not. I'm normally not a huge pizza fan, but I really enjoyed the pizza here. The variety and quality of toppings were a step above other pizza places in the area, and I really appreciate the extensive beer menu. It's like pizza and beer night from college, but elevated. The service is friendly and prompt, and they remembered my complicated pizza order. It's also really nice to patronize a woman-owned restaurant that's clearly very active in the local community. Pizza Paradiso in Spring Valley is a real gem that we are so lucky to have in the neighborhood. The pizza is fantastic, as are the rest of the dishes - not to mention the wine menu. The venue is beautiful and a fun one for both my husband and I, as well as my kids who are 7 & 5. There's a game room in the back that the kids enjoy post-pizza or while waiting. We recently held a party here for our son's sports team and they were so accommodating. The parents and kids all loved it. Wife and I used to go to the original Pizza Paradiso when we were dating, so we were excited to see this one open years later so close to home -- we had actually not realized it had expanded into a chain. Unfortunately the new location while more family friendly did not have any of the original character. In fact, I think it's safe to say they've gone full corporate now, even to the point of expecting teenagers to make great pizza, and hiring public relations experts to respond to reviews online -- see something backwards here? Have to agree with previous reviews on the salads lacking key ingredients and the pizza being just okay. Proof that not every business model is scalable. read more

For a DC-based pizza chain, I was so impressed with this place! The beer and wine selection were really well curated (and this is a person from Portland saying this). I mean, Saison DuPont on tap! Georgian orange wine! And what's more, $3 off all beer and wine during happy hour! I was skeptical about the pizza, but turns out it they use quality ingredients and do the whole wood fire oven thing. I had a Napoletana, which had that yummy brine flavor that you want in a traditional anchovy based slice. I was on a work trip and dining alone, so I have to also give points for the ambience, which was inviting for a solo diner, and it always helps to have a friendly, chatty bartender. I hope to come back on my next trip and enjoy some of those sweet deals. read more

Great place to go with friends and kids. Lovely welcome, bartending and service. Great, continuously refreshed beer selection, interesting appetizers and salads and artisanal pizza. Long wooden countertop tables available if you wish to eat communally al' italiano! Fun arcade machines and pinball (bring small cash). Suggestion - hot appetizers not always consistently warm. Also, not sure if the music is toe-tapping... just dont remember. Memorable good or live music would be a plus! read more

My family thoroughly enjoys PPSV and regularly visit, so it was no surprise our event last week was such a hit. Tony and his staff (special thanks to Kate and Will) made our celebration unforgettable. To commemorate the Nationals World Series victory, we invited the entire 6th grade class of our daughter's school for a pizza party. With only 24 hours notice, Tony was cheerful, professional and creative in his approach to how to best feed and entertain a large group. It was effortless - the pizza was absolutely delicious (three different kinds, just keep 'em coming), pitchers of drinks, indoor games and an outdoor area for blowing off a little steam on a beautiful day. One of my favorite restaurants! I've been going to Paradiso for years in Georgetown, so when they opened this one I was really excited! The prosciutto crostini is to die for, along with the paradiso salad! The pizzas are expensive and just average. The main reason I keep coming back is for the appetizer and salad! I get that it's COVID, but for everybody's sanity, if it's going to take an hour to get your carry out order, don't tell me 30 minutes.

We've been coming here for some time both take out and dine in. The service has always been an issue which brings me to this review. They have started a mandatory 20% tip for dine in and 12% for take away. We had dinner there tonight and our server was the only person working in the entire indoor portion of the restaurant and was also serving as the bartender. Needless to say our table was barely visited. I understand times are hard for restaurants but it seems incongruous to claim a mandatory 20% tip - historically an amount for exceptional service - will be included and yet there are barely any servers there. Where is that money going? When discretion for tipping was given to the patron signals about service could be sent, ideally leading to improved service and a better dining experience. This is what sets us apart from European restaurants where dining out is just a more expensive way to eat. Essentially Pizza Paradiso is just a more expensive way to eat pizza in a restaurant. Coupled with the fact a 12% tip is also added to takeaway (for what I simply don't understand) and I'm not sure we will be back until the tipping and poor service situation is sorted out, on what is already very pricey food. read more

Ridiculously overpriced . A 12 inch pizza with cheese , pancetta and basil to go was $27!!! And the crust was cardboard-like and over cooked. Basil was burned to a crisp. Probably one ounce of pancetta on the pie. This barely fed 2 people. Total rip off. Total disappointment. Not going here again anytime soon. read more

While the pizza is delicious, I've rarely had such bad service at a restaurant as I did tonight at the Spring Valley location. My drink order was wrong, I asked for dressing on the side of my salad and it came mixed in, the waiter couldn't remember what size pizza we ordered. I asked our server for a refill on my drink, and he said he'd go get it. Instead of bringing my refill, he proceeded to sit at the bar and play on his phone. I finally tracked down another server and was able to get my refill, but it came as I was finishing my meal. It also took 20 minutes to get our check at the end of the meal. The restaurant adds a 20% service charge on to dine-in meals which is basically a built-in tip. This must mean that the servers don't really need to do their jobs as no one working seemed to be very concerned with the customers. It wasn't just us either. The people at the table next to us never got their coffee, other orders were wrong, etc. Overall, it was not a good experience. read more

My wife and I went to this location on Sunday Jan 13, 2019 when a lot of restaurants were closed because of the heavy snow. We were greeted very warmly and had perhaps the best Paradiso experience ever. Our server Chris was great and the pizza was extraordinary. We live in the neighborhood and are excited to have this new place in walking distance (less than 1/2 mile). We went at 5 pm and the pizza/beer was great. Our waiter was also very friendly. However, he might have been on another planet - brought the wrong salad, didn't put in our order for pizza (other tables who arrived later were served first) and forgot our last beer until we asked for the check. Sadly, we were charged for everything $100. Pete's Appizza, about a mile away, would have been half the price. Oops! I may have broken my pizza free January goal here. The pizza is not greasy at all, and has a nice thin crust. Add on the veggies of the "siciliano" and you have a reduced guilt pizza! The Paradiso salad is delicious and fresh as well. It's on the smaller side for an entree, but still splittable. The goat cheese and arugula with pepper and mushroom is just such a fresh-tasting combo! When we were visiting, the specials menu highlighted different styles where prominent women come from-such a neat idea. Fast and friendly service, fair prices. read more

Visited the Spring Valley site last night and loved many things: first, the room and the staff were excellent. The pizza crust was outstanding, especially for the DC area. I lived in NYC and Connecticut for 35 years and have definite preferences for how my pizza is prepared. The one item that I was confounded by was their alternate sauce - the Birreria. I asked my server what the difference between that and the regular sauce was and she said that the regular sauce was chunkier but this one was smooth. So I ordered it on a Miniera pie that came with mozzarella and I added mushrooms, chicken sausage, and spinach. It was like a "white pizza" with no tomato flavor whatsoever; the sauce is like pureed watery fresh tomato that did not seem to have been cooked down at all. I asked for and got a side of extra sauce but it was so lacking in flavor that it was not a good choice. It could not stand up to the mozzarella, much less the other toppings. This may be wonderful with a lighter choice of toppings but it was a huge mistake with my classic combination. My fault, but would have appreciated a more detailed description of the sauce from my server or on the menu. I'll go again but order the regular sauce next time. read more

Responding to your inquiry as to what salad we had , it was the arugula salad. The dressing was nothing but olive oil (and not a particularly good). There was no acid or seasoning in the dressing. I cannot remember the pizza we shared. read more
