    Steak Frites
    Katherine T.

Came here with a friend about a month ago and totally forgot to post this review!! Parking was free when we went since it was a weekend. Our servers name was Jessie and she was absolutely amazing! Give her a raise!! The customer service from the hostess to server and even the kitchen staff in passing were super kind. I believe the manager also checked in on us at one point too. The ambiance was just *chefs kiss* (no pun intended lol) but I loved the dark blue tones, table light and elegance it offered. We sat in a corner booth and it felt really intimate and like we could see everything from where we were. We both ordered steak frites, with the apple croustade to go and two glasses of wine. Everything was absolutely amazing, 5/5 not a note to give. The entire experience was a 5/5 and I would definitely come back here again! Thank you to the staff for an amazing meal and great service!

Great lunch spot and seemed to be really busy during that time. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant so it's very accessible. Ordered the BLT with Parmesan Caesar fries. The food was really good, the bun was toasted just right and gotta love crispy bacon. They have a lot of good options on the menu so there's someone for everyone. And the service was really attentive and took great care of our table.

Just ate here and tried their menu for restaurant week. We had 730 pm reservations, and upon entering, the restaurant was full and the layout is pretty tight. There isn't enough space in between tables, so you are seated in very close proximity with other diners near you. That was the only part of the dining experience that was a bit annoying, but as the night went on, the restaurant cleared out so it was much more spacious. For starters, I had the gumbo and my boyfriend had the sweet and spicy cauliflower. I loved the gumbo! It had good chunks of chicken, sausage, and shrimp and was very flavorful. I also thought the portion size was very filling. And, the cauliflower was also very tasty. It almost reminded me of chicken. I liked the jalepeno and actually added them to my gumbo. For our entrees, my boyfriend and I both had salmon. I had the blackened salmon while my boyfriend had the simple and healthy salmon option with broccoli. Both plates were decently sized and we ended up taking to go boxes. My salmon was cooked well, and I loved the potatoes, bacon, and spinach. I definitely felt full after a few bites. Finally, I had a pear croustade for dessert and that was delightful. It reminded me of a pie, and it had vanilla ice cream on top. I loved that. My boyfriend got the lemon tart to go, so I'll have to report back later but it looked good. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive and observant. He knew when to come by to check in and refill our water or clear away plates. I would definitely come back and just opt to eat a bit later when the restaurant isn't as busy.

I came in here to grab some snacks with some friends. We got the cauliflower, some sweet potato fries and focaccia bread. We enjoyed all of them. I particularly enjoyed the sweet and hot cauliflower, which was really unique and good. The restaurant itself is quite decent size so it was easy to hear my friends talking. The restroom is a bit far away, outside of the restaurant but it's pretty clean. I suggest this place for any quick snacks!

    Spice Crusted Scallops

Sadly, I have to say that Chef Geoff's has gone down a little. I used to always recommend Chef Geoff's and bring my family here--so naturally I did just that! I took my grandparents, parents, and boyfriend to Chef Geoff's for a nice birthday dinner. We had raved about the food, wine, etc. However, we were extremely disappointed with the food as a whole. Unfortunately I don't have the pictures of the things that were wrong throughout the night, but I do have a picture of the season spice crusted scallops which were the only good thing we had on the menu... Let's get into the issues here (and yes I realize I did hype this restaurant up recently, but I'm sad to say my review has gone down the dump). To start off, my grandma is vegetarian. The main reason we chose Chef Geoff's was because there were a few good options such as the tofu bowl and veggie burger and cauliflower appetizer. However, when my grandma got the burger, it was clearly not cooked through. It was cold and must've been frozen before cooked because according to her, there were ice particles in the center. I took a bite and yes it was wet, cold, and tasted subpar. As for the watermelon salad, we thought it would be arugula with watermelon chunks. No, it was... watermelon. That's it. A large block of watermelon. My grandfather's salad was soggy and had clearly been sitting out before coming to the table because the lettuce was damp and withered. As I said, the scallop dish was amazing and I always love the chicken Milanese. Although, I did state I didn't want goat cheese on the risotto but obviously it was on the risotto. I didn't send it back mainly because the server was extremely busy and seemed to be running around all over the place. I just picked it off, but I wish I didn't have to. As for service, it was okay, not great, but again, he was super busy and management did take off the burger so I really did appreciate that. I understand restaurants may have some off nights, but it was upsetting that it was on a birthday night and when I had my family visiting. I probably won't go back for awhile, but I hope they can expand the menu and also get back to where it used to be.

Lots of standing room, limited seating, but the patrons are young, beautiful, and mostly college students from nearby schools. Not my crowd, but met one of my friends here after work in Arlington around 6:30 since the weather was perfect yesterday. We decided to go to my favorite restaurant for a more elevated experience and live music. One day, I'll come back to watch people ride the bull downstairs, which I imagine that to be hilarious and entertaining. The bartender told me the place doesn't come alive until about 9pm, so that's when it's crowded and probably off the chain.

I went for the first time back in October and I had a good time. The drinks were competitively price for Arlington proportions but the food AND cocktail menu are just painfully limited. If you're ordering just standard bar drinks like a domestic draft beer or a shot of tequila you're fine, but a grilled cheese sandwich on the menu? Seriously? The biggest attraction of this bar is the mechanical bull. But the caveat is that you need to get a ticket to ride it which costs $5. Not terrible pricing but considering PBR at Power Plant Live in Baltimore has a mechanical bull (and more space but will get to that in a bit) it feels like a slap in the face. But again it's $5 and I'm going to presume that money goes towards maintenance of the mechanical bull ride anyway. Also depending on what day and time you go be prepared to be packed like sardines. There's three rooms one of which is a dedicated dance floor. And the room farthest from the entrance, about 85% of the room is taken up by the mechanical bull. The first time I went there was no room in the mechanical bull room because they blocked off 5% of it for some group party reservation. We went up to the rooftop which was a bit more spacious but naturally if it's cold outside or raining you're obviously not going up there. Overall, BOE has potential but a limited food menu, and even more limited cocktail menu, and small indoor space makes this an easy bar to skip when there's a line out the door.

So I'll pose this questions to my fellow beer hunters. What matters to you most ... atmosphere of the bar, or an excellent selection of craft beers on tap, including a few that are hard to find, at rock bottom prices. If you are in the camp of the latter, then you will love Arlington Pub. I stumbled upon Arlington Pub a bit on accident. I was in the area and had heard lots of great things about Galaxy Hut and wanted to check them out. I got there about 4:15PM and found their door locked. Having to REALLY need to use the bathroom, I decided to hop across the street to Whole Foods, take care of business, and then figure out a place to kill time until 5PM. As I headed upstairs towards the restroom, I saw that my search for a place to kill time would be over quickly. Behold Arlington Pub. They had recently had a tap takeover from Oskar Blues Brewing, the brewery best know for Dale's Pale Ale. Tap takeovers are a great way to find and sample beers that you rarely see. In this case, it was the excellent Ninja Cow ESB. I found it a bit dark in color for an ESB, but had that characteristic ESB smoothness. They were on the tail end of the tap takeover, so some of the OB brews were tapped, but had been replaced with some interesting options. They offer a flight, so I decided to sample a few of the other OB offerings - their 10 Fidy Imperial Stout and Gubna Imperial IPA. I also threw in selections from other breweries - Sump Coffee Stout from Perennial and Allagash Curieux, a Belgian Tripel aged in Jim Beam bourbon barrels. These are all VERY strong beers, but the flight pours were generous, and there was no upcharge on the strong brews. The flight, normally $5, was $4 for happy hour. And prices like this is what makes you forget that you are enjoying cheap craft beer on the top floor of a hipster grocery store. My pint of Ninja Cow, normally $3, was a dollar off for happy hour. Throw in a double espresso to finish off after the flight, and my tab was under $10. And the bartender/barista actually functions as a checkout cashier, so there is no need to tip and no place for tipping on a credit card transaction. (I didn't ask if they were allowed to take cash tips ... I didn't have cash, so it was a bit of a moot point.) So if you can get over the fact that the this is a bar on the upper level of Whole Foods, you'll find Arlington Pub is a great place to kill some time and enjoy a great selection of craft beer at insanely cheap prices.

It's a shame because I love eating & having a drink or two at Whole Foods for it's a comfortable place to be alone & not feel like I'm at a meat market. I now many times go to the Fairoaks location which has lower nice lighting, is clean and has a great atmosphere.

It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.
